fastboot mode - Xperia Arc Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
i wanted flash some new kernel, i have currently Rush kernel. So i opened freshly installed FlashTool (0.90.10.1) with installed drivers from /drivers folder, take out battery and press "menu" and connect cabel....just like million times before. But now the LED just blinked blue and phone bootloops until i pull the cable out. And just the same happens when i want to go into flashmode (green LED) it just blinks and get bootloop. Can someone give me some advise? I am using original SE cable that comes with it.
edit: i am not using USB controller, i am using USB that comes right from motherboard
edit 2: even if i try "reboot into fastboot mode (via ADB)" in flashtool, it reboots into CWM...

And what happens when you try an older version or manual fastboot?

hmmm, but now the weird part, when i put the cable, just the cable without phone connected to it, windows told me, that "some of devices was not recognized" and drivers was not installed for unknown device. What the hell does this mean? drivers for cable?! btw: the cable is barely used i flashed with it two Arc S just week ago.

Sounds like a PC issue to me.

nope it was that cable...i donĀ“t get it, but with another one, it just works. I am using sometimes that "non-working" cable for file transfer or charge battery and it works normally. Strange...

[Q] USB Connection Problem Galaxy W

I am having a problem when I connect my phone to PC. I get the attached screen after connecting the cable, and the phone memory drives never show up.
(dark blue screen that shows date and time "Alarm", "Music", "Gallery", and "Voice Search at the bottom)
It happens both in debugging and non-debugging modes. Also, the GPS icon on top of the taskbar starts blinking shortly after connecting. MTB connecting does not start.
I have no idea where this page comes from!!
Thanks
P.S.-Sorry that I could not embed the image here in this post since I have posted less that 10 posts in this forum.
You got USB drivers installed on PC.....is it Windows....or Mac?
What do you see if you pull down Notification Blind?
What is the symbol on the top left Notification ?
Does PC give any message regarding drivers when phone connected, with USB debugging selected on phone?
Are you using supplied micro USB cord?

The USB drivers are fine, It was working before on this PC.
I can not pull down the Notification bar like I do on normal screen.
The symbol on left was for SetCPU notification. I have flashed the stock ROM again and everything is clean, problem still exists.
PC gives no message, even the phone does not charge!
I am using the original USB cable.
Thanks

Sounds HW related problem!!!
You try different USB ports, different cords, different PC or Laptop....just to eliminate everything but the phone!!!
Can ODIN see phone, in Download Mode?? Here also you need USB Debugging selected.
Something like this, left box should be Yellow:

The only thing that I need to try is a different cable.
It also looks HW issue to me.
I could connect it in Download mode to flash the stock ROM after several connecting and disconnecting the usb cable.
I may take it for warranty tomorrow. Is flashing the stock ROM is enough to have the phone looks like factory defaults. It looks unrooted and no recovery mode now.
Thanks

it may just be the cable/usb cord!!!
I'd say if you are now on Stock FW, and have restored Stock Recovery, and un-rooted, you are OK for Warranty.......
Let us know how you get on,
Cheers.
Yes It was cable. it works fine with another cable.
Thanks

Win doesn't recognize my Defy

Hello,
I've a big issue, if I try to connect the phone, via usb, to the pc windows none of the devices recognize the connection.
Nothing appear on the Defy. On the Pc, sometimes appear the "new device windows" but if I try to install drivers it show me an alert saying that the device is not installed correctly.
I've tried all the motorola drivers available but nothing happen. I've also tried 2 other pc and 2 other usb cable
Fortunally, the device is rooted and I can install a nandroid backup but I don't know how I can resolve this issue, someone can help me?
Thanks

Enable / disable USB debugging maybe? But normally there should be a prompt on the phone when you plug it in (pulling down the status bar usually asks you what to do, give memory card access, charge only...). Btw, does the Defy charge when plugged in or does the LED light up?

Tried but nothing change. The phone doesn't charge correctly and no prompt message if I connect it to the pc.
And it is definitely not the cable and / or the USB port? Then it has to be a hardware problem on the phone's side I think.

Not the cable and not the USB
There's a way to reinstall all the Defy driver without the cable?
Try installing new moto drivers.

Charging didn't work if I connect the phone to the pc, it's strange because if I connect to the electrical power it works.
I also think that I've had an issue when I've installed the custom firmware

USB not work

Huhu,
i have issue with my usb connection.
If i connect it to the laptop it say Unknow Device (error code 43). Then it only charge.
I looking up the internet for 2 days now.
Someone said Unknow device is always a driver problem.
Found some driver called samsung/sgs2 driver. But that wasnt working.
Debugging modus also not help me.
Maybe someone have an other idea?
Try this
1. Turn off phone while still plugged in to your computer
2. Press Volume Button Up and then Power button to turn it on in bootloader/or recoverymode
3. You should hear a typical usb connecting sound. (if not you can unplug and plug the usb until you hear it)
4. Unplug it to hear the usb disconnecting sound.
4. Restart your phone and then allow it to turn on as usual, allow it to load everything before.. doing #5
5. Try plugging it in and test.
i tested it but not get a sound.
bootloader say waiting for usb ;/
Uninstall any previous drivers you installed and install these. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=961956
They worked for me.
These are the drivers i already tried.
But they not work for me ;/
If you're laptop is Windows:
-install Samsung Kies....after that, plug your Glide, there should be a prompt "Installing device drivers" and/or "Searching Windows update..." Wait for that to be done and you should be able to connect.
Same thing with MAC,
I tried that befor but not work ;(
Does i have a chance to flash the phone without usb?
can i install CWM withouth odin?

Try this. Maybe it could help

Windows won't recognize t989

Hello all!
First: I promise I searched the forums and google as hard as I could!
I'm running AOKP JB with CWM, although the problem was present on stock ICS from T-Mobile.
Symptoms: Computer and phone will refuse to acknowledge any connection (nothing shows up in Device Manager), except the phone will still charge. If I do the "remove the battery with USB plugged in" trick, the first time I do it, it will recognize an unknown device, but kies and adb won't recognize it. If I unplug it and plug it back in, it'll go back to not acknowledging any connection.
I previously programmed it (when I was still running stock ROM) via ADB via WiFi, but I need to be able to use ADB via USB. Besides, I can't seem to get ADB over WiFi anymore.
When I plug it into a different computer (Win7), it will, however, recognize my phone.
Earlier this year, before I ever tried programming via WiFi, it connected to my Win8 machine with no problem. I don't think it's a problem with the wifi setup though because the ROM was reinstalled and of course I've restarted ADB in USB mode in the months since...
What I've tried:
Reinstalling Kies
Reinstalling Samsung USB drivers
[^]Restarting the ADB server
Updating ADB
Trying different USB cables
Trying different USB ports
Toggling USB debugging
Toggling MTP mode
The UART thing from the dialer
Restarting the phone and the computer (of course)
Checking to see if my computer's USB drivers need to be updated
The android terminal command "setprop persist.sys.usb.config mass_storage,adb"
Pulling and replacing the battery while connected via USB
Crying in a corner
If anyone can help me, it'd be greatly appreciated! I'm all out of ideas and Google is no longer helpful =/
try to uninstall the drivers that are present anything samsung related to your drivers ... then connect the phone and let the process do its thing if you have the samsung drivers saved on your PC and the drivers still aint working update the drivers and then manually click where the drivers are to install them and hopefully it will work and when you tried MTP is it the only option it gives you no storage or anything ??... and is usb debugging on when you are trying all this ??

I tried on my work computer that didn't have any samsung drivers and when the "unknown device" dialog popped up it didn't do anything or install anything, nor did it show up in Device Manager. Unplugging and replugging it back in did not reproduce the dialog box. Togged USB Debugging and still no dialog box saying it recognized it.
The thing with the samsung drivers is that they're self installing so even if it popped up in Device Manager, I wouldn't be able to manually update the drivers =/
I tried MTP both with and without USB Debugging, although it also gives the option for PTP.
At this point do you think I should unroot and go back to stock? It's not been recognized on three computers now! =[
Are you using the stock cable? My computer wouldn't recognize mine without it.

Both the stock cable and a generic cable.
Similar problem
Similar problem as the OP. And hi guys, it's nice to be on these forums.
My device, when I plug it in using the stock cable, doesn't even charge. It doesn't show up in device manager, nor does it give me a notification, or say it's unsupported and bear that yellow icon. I have tried using different USB ports, I have tried the toggling USB debugging, I have tried restarting phone, computer, and taking out battery. I have tried that PDA/MODEM dialer trick. I am using 4.1.2 Jellybean, not rooted. (that WAS my goal,, until I hit this roadblock) I have not connected it to the computer in the past, it's relatively new. I'm thinking the cable is bust.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. It charges fine through a wall outlet plug, be it generic or stock.
so guys ive come to a conclusion i think its something in the samsung usb cables try getting yourself a blackberry usb cable , TRUST ME !!! ever since i got my phoness etc... tablet and yadi yadi samsung usb cables have always seemed to give me problems i think its because they are multi data/charging cables and when using the blackberry usb cable i have never ever once encountered a problem with any of my phones sd/storage problems do yourself a favor and pick up one of those cables and you will be golden !! if not then i guess im the only lucky one :LOL here you go http://www.amazon.com/Blackberry-Travel-Adapter-Micro-Cable/dp/B004VMVSYK/ref=pd_sim_cps_2 5 bucks!
Edit also one more test boot into recovery and click in the advanced menu and see if mount usb works for you in recovery mode ??
FIX (try using a generic cable)
I actually solved it on my own! After borrowing a generic cable from a friend it booted up! The Samsung cable was just not doing its thing.
yeah im telling you those cables they provide are JUNK!!! i only use my samsung to charge because they do that well but data they are str8 CRAP!! glad you got it up and going
OP
Hope OP will have the same luck as me...pray to the Android gods...

Question [Solved] Trying to unlock but phone is not connecting

Firstly, this sounds like a very noob question and I am sorry, but I have unlocked phones in the past so I should know how to do this, yet I am running into an issue. I am trying to unlock bootloader on this phone, but my phone is not recognized at all by my pc. If I am in Android and I connect my phone I should get the dialog where it asks me if I want to transfer files or charge my phone etc., right? Yet this dialog doesn't appear. If I enable debugging and type 'adb devices' I get 0 devices. If I reboot to bootloader and try 'fastboot devices' I get nothing. Am I missing something obvious here? I tried both Windows and Linux and got the same results, my phone is just invisible. Do you have any advice? I bought the phone today and I am running the latest software V13.0.10.0.SKOEUXM.

Different usb port/cable. Open device manager and see if it reloads when you plug it in, if yes, than you need drivers.

If it doesn't, do I have a bad device?
I tried a different computer and a different cable (the original one is a mess and so is my win11 pc), and it worked. Now I am waiting for 143 hours, wasn't it a week before?
