Viper4Android and Marshmallow - Nexus 7 (2013) Q&A

Does anyone know how to get viper4android working on the newest marshmallow update (mra58v) for n7 2013 using elementalx kernel? Had it working on marshmallow before updating. Since wugfresh nrt is being buggy about the bootloader at the moment and also not supporting the newest os, I rooted using the beta-supersu-v2.52 and elementalx-n7-5.04. All is good except now I can't get viper to flash in twrp (following exactly the steps involving busybox & selinux mode changer- which worked fine before).
OS: mra58v
Kernel: 3.4.0-elementalx-n7-5.04

It's not flashing probably because you have no more space in /system, especially if you are using stock ROM. Use a file manager and see how much space you have left. I am betting just a few mbs. Delete some apks that you don't need (be careful not to delete system critical ones like IME or TTS), reboot and make sure it boots up fine. Then flash your viper.zip. Also, make sure you are unticking the Enforcing radio in the ElemetalX aroma installer.
It works perfectly fine for me on CleanROM with the only exception is the viper package that I flashed broke casting. It was my own fault, as I left something out of the libs when I packaged it myself.

ParanoidAndroid for AOSP 4.3 (JLS36G)
Work in Progress
Please make sure you have backups for anything you don't want to lose.
Caution is advised. No promises this will not eat your device and take over your home.
Google apps are not official, these have PA Specific change, we have tested all apps but you could still encounter issues.
If you have an issue please make sure it is repeatable, capture logcat/dmesg, etc and post to pastebin or similar.
Installation
Update your recovery to the latest version. Pre 4.2 recoveries can mess up your sd card/storage. We recommend TWRP.
Download pa google apps: From GOO Updated 17-SEP-2013
Download rom: From GOO Updated 21-SEP-2013
Follow PA on Google+ for changes and other info
Perform a factory reset in recovery, unless you are already on PA 3.94+ (or if you run into problems)
Flash ROM first, then gapps
Wipe dalvik & cache
Reboot and wait, first bootup can take a little time
Enter your Google account info, press home when you encounter the black screen
Please do not restore system apps, system data and Google apps. This can cause bootloops and other problems due to mismatches coming from CM to AOSP and moving from Android version 4.1.2 to 4.2 to 4.3

I just got the update notification from your 3.91 PA ROM. The changelog says no other root app needs to be installed, but that didn't work for me. I lost root on 3.92 if I didn't flash the SU 1.51 zip file. No biggie though, let me know if this should work and I did something wrong.
On another note, seems like /etc/init.d scripts are being run on boot, but anything that needs root isn't working. I'm trying to find a workaround, but nothing is working out so far. I've tried adding "su -c <some command>" but that still didn't work. Any ideas are appreciated.
Thank you, this is a great ROM!

Do you install any superuser type apps from the Playstore in support of root? I see an entry in Settings for "Superuser", but I never get prompted for root access and my root apps claim in not rooted. This is from a clean install (Factory Reset) and only installing the few apps that need root (not doing a restore).
Edit - If I was unlocked and rooted in 4.2.2, there's no need for me to root again once I've flashed PA 3.92? Flashing the latest PA is all I need?

Wallet and xposed help with cm10.2

I have aTMO M919 SGS4 rooted and running the latest CM10.2 nighties. I have tried following instructions to enable wallet by installing xposed. I keep getting an error like xposed framework not installed with a number of write errors pointing to /data/data. Using root explore to make /system writable did not help. Does anyone have any idea how to get xposed working on our device running cm10.2? Or another workaround four wallet? Thanks very much.

There are a few more steps you need to follow in addition to just using xposed. This is what I did to get it working on mine.
First you need to modify the build.prop to the Sprint version:
ro.product.model=SPH-L720
ro.product.name=jfltespr
ro.product.device=jfltespr
Second you need to install SuperSU with the 1.51 binary (install from recovery)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1538053
xposed will not work with CM's Superuser, you need SuperSU
After you install xposed 2.14 and restart you should be able to setup Wallet
Once Wallet is setup you can edit the build.prop back to TMO
ro.product.model=SGH-M919
ro.product.name=jfltetmo
ro.product.device=jfltetmo
**Each time you flash a new nightly you will need to re-install the SuperSU binary and the xposed binary from inside the app.
Thank you so much! Worked perfectly.
Well, almost... I couldn't download the zip file properly with cm10.2 and Chrome... the downloaded file was to small/corrupted. I downloaded from my PC, transferred the file to my phone, then proceeded and now I have wallet!
Thanks again, I[E!
No problem, Chrome seems to have issues downloading from some sites. Regular browser usually works though.
Glad it worked out for you.

Viper4Android + Android 4.4.4 , help!

So i have a nexus flo i use as a in dash for my car, so it's crucial that i get the best audio possible
I was on mahdi 4.4.3 , i installed extremebeats mod, rebooted, installed v4a as a user app, installed driver, rebooted, used lucky patcher to move it to system\priv-app with working IRS files. Everything works fine using poweramp on mahdi 4.4.3
Doing the same thing using 4.4.4 and power amp, all settings are the same, no luck. audio processing is dead in the water (even without extremebeats mod)
So i flashed the v4a zip file, processing is ok now, but IRS files don't work (convolver settings).
IRS files are crucial to me.
At this point i keep finding myself back on 4.4.3 out of lost hope.
I already asked for help in the v4a thread but no one was able to help. Hoping there are some out of box thinkers in here.
Thanks in advanced.
i should mention it doesn't process audio on headset via poweramp. using GMMP same result using rocketplayer and shuttle works fine and processes fine
i paid for power amp so i'd like it to work..

You might be having issues from other mods you're using. As stated above, V4A is working on most ROM's. I just downloaded and extracted the zip, installed the 4.x.x + zip as a user app (no need to move to system,) and deleted the 2.2 V4A zip. You did unzip the zip folder first right? Just making sure. In any case I would try a clean ROM install and the try V4A and see if it works. Run a backup first to flash back. Should take about ten minutes to quick test the compatibility.

As i stated in the OP, i've tried the flashable zip through recovery, and i tried the proper apk , then used lucky patcher after installing and rebooting after drivers, and it does not process
it processes when i flash it, but IRS files don't work when i do that. Hence my frustration
I did clean flashes each time i tested. It processes with any other audio player on 4.4.4 except power amp and gmmp , on 4.4.3 using same method processes 100% on poweramp

I've also tried it without extreme beats, no headset processing on poweramp
So I did fresh install of Mahdi latest build from today, gapps, rebooted installed app installed drivers rebooted, lucky patched it to system priv app rebooted. Poweramp headset processing says no but when using shuttle it says yes. Direct volume control is unchecked music fx is checked in power amp. What am I doing wrong?

How about you actually PAY for the app, rather than using lucky patcher and then spamming the forum when you can't get it working?!
You've already been warned about this is the past and you won't be receiving another one.

Yeah it's an alpha build so the bells and whistles of cm features aren't available. It's basically just a working version of 5.0. As time goes on they will add the bells and whistles.

Its actually an almost perfect build for me... Only issue is camera and contacts fc when a synced contact's name is more than one word.... Even had faster GPS lock than 4.4 roms...
Don't seem to miss cm features as I don't use much... Just probably on screen buttons and skip tracks with volume button is what I'm missing
Running this on my phone. It was kind of wonky at first but after 2-3 wipes/flashes this is the best ROM I have ever run on this phone.
If you get tons of force closes, no root, and can't seem to download anything wipe and re flash.
As of now everything is working for me(including the camera using nexus camera).

Test builds V4 is running great, ive been running it for 2 days and ive had 0 FC's! just camera doesnt work, but you can download an alternate camera from the play store (nexus camera or camera zoom FX works for me). All you have to do before flashing is modifying the "updater script", open and edit the updater script and just replace all "d2att" with "d2tmo", save changes. Do a clean flash. I use the usual apps (fb, tw, whatsapp, a couple basic games) and everything works well. I dont use any apps that use the camera (vine, instagram, etc) so I cant report on those. No need to flash a kernel or different radio.
V5 is working fine for me. Everything works except video recording(pictures work with Nexus Camera) and cast screen on Chromecast. I tried the fix for the Nexus 7 but it disconnects immediately.
I used es file manager changed all d2att to d2tmo and reziped the file and still won't flash. What am i doing wrong?

I tried editing the update script using root explorer, and it did the editing. however, when I moved/copy and paste the edited update script back to the Rom zip, it would move the original/unedited update script. So this is what I did: I extracted the update script and edited with root explorer, then I emailed the edited update script to myself, then I open the rom with 7-zip on my computer and replaced the original update script with the one I edited, saved the zip to my desktop. I then proceed to flash and it worked perfectly.

I rather not, for some reason the guy who put together the zip took down the thread and his account is suspended, who knows what happened. Its very easy to modify tho, give it a try.
i took a day or so by finally got my son s3 working
The current build is build 5 dated 11/25. It works better than build 4. You can use a few different cameras but stock camera still not working right. If you use Philz touch recovery you don't need to modify the script, it will flash just fine. It will say your phone is an i747 but that is just cosmetic it changes nothing with functionality like data or calls, etc. Because this is just a software rom and doesn't change anything hardware specific. Enjoy.

These are all the modules I have installed so far!
Anyone know how to automatically update the framework? Or do you just have to check back every time the OP updates it?

I should've specified that I have to flash stock to do the factory reset as clearing the dalvik & cache never worked for me. So I do need to root again afterward. And yes, the one for our device is arm. Not the arm64 or x86. I checked in the official thread from the Xposed sub forum & we aren't the only ones having issues.
I had the same problem and solved it by deleting some system apps to gain space (all the google bloatware). After that and with having enough space it worked fine
