I am not sure why Google Now does not recognize the stock music app on the M9 as a music player.
Using Google Now with Google Play Music installed, I say "Play my music". Google launches Google Play music. I back out to the previous screen where I now have an option. For selecting another music player, though the stock app isn't there. Uninstalling Google Play music or disabling it from the phone search in Google settings does not remedy this.
Is there something else I am missing? How can I flag the stock music app as the music app?

Music beta, the Google Android app that supports Google Music Beta, autostarts whenever it detects a BT audio connection that isn't being used. So, for instance, if I shut off Poweramp or another streaming player before I disconnect BT, it will instantly pop up and start playing, sometimes even before the other app has shut down.
There is no settings menu to prevent it from "reacting" to headset commands in the app, and I'd like to be able to control whether it autostarts or not from another application. I downloaded Autostarts, but it doesn't even recognize the event as a trigger for the application.
Any other suggestions? I'd uninstall the damn program, but it's the only app out there now that will play music stored in Google Music beta.
interesting. Have never had it auto-play on bt connect. Are you using the widget as-well?

Nope. I only run the app when I want to play music on Google Music Beta. Otherwise I run Poweramp. What's annoying is that I'll have Pocketcasts up and running and even playing, and suddenly Music will decide it wants to play, too. I had this problem with Winamp and I had it with the stock Music app.
I froze the stock Music app in Titanium, and I could always remove this one, but then there aren't any other apps that play music stored in Google Music.
haven't tried it (trashed google music) but something called 'phantom' (appbrain) claims to play google music in the pro version. I THOUGHT I saw another one that did it but can't find it now. Look around; keep eye out.
Ok, this was just damn strange - So my Nexus was in my pocket and I take it out. Out of no where, songs start playing that I have in my library without me having pressed any buttons. My first thought was maybe I accidentally hit a button and no big deal. So I open my current apps and see that the google music player wasn't even on. I launched the actual google music app to then stop the song from there and couldn't locate the "Now Playing" song either! So I was left with no other choice but to restart the phone!
Anyone else experience this one?
How odd. Do you have any other music/media players? Even possibly a file manager? Maybe there's a bug with one of them.

I have a very similar issue, but it occurs most often when I automatically connect to Bluetooth in my car. I use Spotify so it clashes with Google Music too and causes this scramble of both players playing music on top of each other.
But I am very curious about this too, although it pops up primarily on my bluetooth. Google Music will just begin playing songs and further more I don't ever use it or initiate it. After a while I will get an error saying "Music has unexpectedly stopped working".
I've also closed the app as much as possible in Settings>Apps so I don't understand why it keeps playing and showing up repeatedly.
I had this issue with the Google music player also, I use power amp pro as my main music player and one day music started to play, I checked power amp pro and nothing so then I checked Google music and that was the problem. I disabled Google music. Also Google music app was force closing on me ever few days don't know why.

Hi all.
I'm trying out Tasker, and my question is this:
I'm trying to get a profile that starts actually playing music (does not open the app, but plays the music), but when I try to use Music Control or Music Play it plays music from the "Play Music" player of Google, and not the "Music" app of HTC.
Anybody knows how I can play music straight from the "Music" app?
Thanks!
In app management, go to play music and select clear defaults.
Next time you play a music file it will ask which player to use.

Tried it, did not solve my problem. my problem is that is detects it as default music player, not default music player to play selected files. I need somehow to change the default action of the media controls of the phone.
Hi All,
Anyone knows how to change default music player on KK Android? Alternatively how to make Android Wear open PowerAmp instead of Google Play Music when I say Open Music?
When I click open music player on phone using android wear it opens default music player Google Play. When I freeze that it opens YouTube, when I freeze that Tunein Radio and when I freeze that finally PowerAmp.
However I want to have Youtube and Tunein installed and working. Any suggestions?
Tried the clear defaults but all above mentioned apps have that option greyed out, tired assigning PowerAmp to MP3 files and I can and it now opens when I double click but Wear still opens google one.
Anything else?
Well, I can tell you how to change Google Now to open PowerAmp. Use your phone's voice search to play a title of a song in your library (so, "Play [title]"). When it speaks "Playing [title]," and shows the "Playing" card, quickly press the three dots menu icon in the upper right corner of that card. You'll see a new card with "Play music with..." and a list of apps. Pick PowerAmp. From then on, it should use PowerAmp whenever you ask it to play a title. Now, why did I tell you to play a title, and not simply "Play Music?" It seems that "Play Music" is hardwired to use Google Play Music to launch "I'm feeling lucky radio." You cannot change it. If you hit the three dots after that command, Google Play Music is all you'll see.
Now, for the watch. It's going to be a LOT more finicky. Asking for a song or album title, or even an artist SHOULD use the same app set in Google Now, but sometimes it will use Google Play Music anyway. If you don't have "All Access," it will sometimes fail, with some error about not being able to create a playlist (or something like that... I can't remember exactly). Sometimes, it will simply open a Google Search for no apparent reason.
The bottom line is: Opening music from the watch will only work a small percentage of the time, and that success rate will be cut even further if you're not using Google Play Music. Unfortunately, I doubt that Google is inclined to fix, or even improve, this anytime soon.
Having said that... there might be a workaround:
You need: Tasker (paid) and Tasker App Factory (free)
Create a task in tasker that does what you want it to do. Then give it an icon and use "Export to Application" to create an APK of it, name it what you want the voice command to be. Install the APK to your phone.
When you want to run the task, say "ok google, launch [app name]" into your watch.
It's possible to search, by voice control, an album...not a song? For example "Play [Album]" and then playing start from first track of the album
Is it possible with google now and poweramp?
is there any other app to play songs stored in watch directly like google play music?
Hello everyone,
This is my first post on this forum. I recently purchased a Moto 360 for myself and I must say, so far I'm in love with it. I had to switch from Spotify to Play Music, but that's not a big deal since I originally used to use Play Music. There is one thing I am having a problem with however.
With a lot of songs that I have on play music, when I issue the "Play Song" command on my moto 360, it will attempt to open up the Youtube video, as opposed to just playing the song on Play Music. I have the songs added to my library on Play music, but it continues to do this. It's not every song either, only certain ones.
Does anyone have any experience or fix for this? Is there a way to just block Youtube on my moto 360 all together? I'm never going to use it anyways.
Thank you!

I had a similar issue and found that it was AllCast app downloaded from the play store that was interfering with my voice commands. Do you have any apps that might be 'stealing' the voice action?

Not that I know of. I even uninstalled Youtube from my phone, but I still run into the same issue. I can't play certain songs through play music. It recommends me Youtube music videos to watch instead.
Moto 360 second gen and I have the same issue.
im having the same issue, still have not found what is causing this....maybe google now settings ? cause ok google open google now on my phone when i issue voice commands..
I solved mine by factory resetting my phone and starting over. This time I didn't install the YouTube Music app and all now happens according to plan.
