Launching PowerAmp from Android Wear - Moto 360

Hi All,
Anyone knows how to change default music player on KK Android? Alternatively how to make Android Wear open PowerAmp instead of Google Play Music when I say Open Music?
When I click open music player on phone using android wear it opens default music player Google Play. When I freeze that it opens YouTube, when I freeze that Tunein Radio and when I freeze that finally PowerAmp.
However I want to have Youtube and Tunein installed and working. Any suggestions?
Tried the clear defaults but all above mentioned apps have that option greyed out, tired assigning PowerAmp to MP3 files and I can and it now opens when I double click but Wear still opens google one.
Anything else?

Well, I can tell you how to change Google Now to open PowerAmp. Use your phone's voice search to play a title of a song in your library (so, "Play [title]"). When it speaks "Playing [title]," and shows the "Playing" card, quickly press the three dots menu icon in the upper right corner of that card. You'll see a new card with "Play music with..." and a list of apps. Pick PowerAmp. From then on, it should use PowerAmp whenever you ask it to play a title. Now, why did I tell you to play a title, and not simply "Play Music?" It seems that "Play Music" is hardwired to use Google Play Music to launch "I'm feeling lucky radio." You cannot change it. If you hit the three dots after that command, Google Play Music is all you'll see.
Now, for the watch. It's going to be a LOT more finicky. Asking for a song or album title, or even an artist SHOULD use the same app set in Google Now, but sometimes it will use Google Play Music anyway. If you don't have "All Access," it will sometimes fail, with some error about not being able to create a playlist (or something like that... I can't remember exactly). Sometimes, it will simply open a Google Search for no apparent reason.
The bottom line is: Opening music from the watch will only work a small percentage of the time, and that success rate will be cut even further if you're not using Google Play Music. Unfortunately, I doubt that Google is inclined to fix, or even improve, this anytime soon.
Having said that... there might be a workaround:
You need: Tasker (paid) and Tasker App Factory (free)
Create a task in tasker that does what you want it to do. Then give it an icon and use "Export to Application" to create an APK of it, name it what you want the voice command to be. Install the APK to your phone.
When you want to run the task, say "ok google, launch [app name]" into your watch.

It's possible to search, by voice control, an album...not a song? For example "Play [Album]" and then playing start from first track of the album
Is it possible with google now and poweramp?

is there any other app to play songs stored in watch directly like google play music?

[Q] Preventing Music Beta from automatically starting

Music beta, the Google Android app that supports Google Music Beta, autostarts whenever it detects a BT audio connection that isn't being used. So, for instance, if I shut off Poweramp or another streaming player before I disconnect BT, it will instantly pop up and start playing, sometimes even before the other app has shut down.
There is no settings menu to prevent it from "reacting" to headset commands in the app, and I'd like to be able to control whether it autostarts or not from another application. I downloaded Autostarts, but it doesn't even recognize the event as a trigger for the application.
Any other suggestions? I'd uninstall the damn program, but it's the only app out there now that will play music stored in Google Music beta.
interesting. Have never had it auto-play on bt connect. Are you using the widget as-well?

Nope. I only run the app when I want to play music on Google Music Beta. Otherwise I run Poweramp. What's annoying is that I'll have Pocketcasts up and running and even playing, and suddenly Music will decide it wants to play, too. I had this problem with Winamp and I had it with the stock Music app.
I froze the stock Music app in Titanium, and I could always remove this one, but then there aren't any other apps that play music stored in Google Music.
haven't tried it (trashed google music) but something called 'phantom' (appbrain) claims to play google music in the pro version. I THOUGHT I saw another one that did it but can't find it now. Look around; keep eye out.

Using google voice to play music?

Using Jelly Beans, I'm saying "play take me away"
"play believe"
it some times looks it up from the music in the phone and other times it goes and searches the web. how to force it to play the music file in the phone?
Also, lets say I have a playlist titled "running mix", when I say "play running mix", it automatically searches the web, it isn't figuring this out at all.
Any clues on how to make it play the music in the phone?

Use "Listen to" to get it to play music from the Play Music app. "Listen to Running Mix" should play that playlist. If you say "Play" it will do many things, one of which includes pulling up YouTube videos, iirc.
Good luck with using it though, as it's still pretty brainless as far as I can tell. For instance, it doesn't handle stuff like "Listen to the song Rammstein by Rammstein" so it's absolutely impossible to hear that song using voice command, since it will always choose a matching artist over a song.

Google Now - "Listen To" command

Hey All:
I'm having an issue with Google Now's "Listen To" command (likewise "Play" or "Play Music"). These commands only direct Now to do a search. I've made sure that Play Music is selected as a search source (as well as Winamp and Media Monkey), but the phone insists on web searches. Any tips on how to force it to behave the way it's supposed to (i.e. search my phone and play the requested song or artist)?
I'm in Canada (though with a valid Play Music account with ~2,000 songs uploaded); I don't know if that's part of the problem.
I've tried clearing the data for Google Search as well. Running the latest Google Search and 4.3.
Thanks for any help!

Mmmm, thats wierd. I don't think the amount of tracks on Play Music is a problem at all. I have a little bit under 2k songs in there as well and It prompts me with the option to select my music player (in this case spotify). The web search comes after the song hit. I can't say its 4.3 either, though I'm still rocking 4.2.2
Here is my Google Search Version: 2.6.7.721924.arm
Try uninstalling and reinstalling Google Search maybe that will do the trick. As a last resort I could pull my apk for you to download?

Thanks for looking. I'm on the same version (2.6.7.721924) and have uninstalled the updates/reinstalled. Still nothing. It's a weird issue, to be sure. From my research it looks like it's an intermittent issue that comes and goes to most people. I'd welcome any other advice.

I have the same issue. Some songs instantly played when named and others will bring me to the search engine. I thought it might be where the song resides that was the issue but I'm not 100% sure. Sometimes i can get it to work from songs on internal memory. And sometimes from my micro SD card, but not always. I thought it might have to do with whether the music was on Play Music...."all music", or "on device". But i cannot get it to work every time.
Edit: even stranger. ..i just tired both "play" and "listen to" commands for the song "Wish you were here". The song opens up with the image of the Pink Floyd album cover, and then the music plays. But it's not Pink Floyd. It's the Grateful Dead version. I then see album covers for those two versions and one for Incubus' version. If i use the "listen to" or "play" command and say, "Listen to Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd", it still plays the Dead's version. I have all three versions in my library.
If i use the"play" command and then name an artist, nothing happens. If i instead insert the word "Google" before the word "play", then it will play an artist. Wonkey!!!
Hi, I noticed that Listen and Play command does not launch the default music player any more. The list of apps in the Google Now Settings does not show any music player either. I don't have access to Play music in my region.
Anyone have the same experience? Can this be fixed at our end?

How do I force set a default music player on my 5X?

I have DoubleTwist (for syncing to my PC) and BlackPlayer (for actually playing music) installed and would like to set BlackPlayer as my default music player. However, whenever I go to Apps > Configure Apps > Default apps, the only four lines I see are:
Browser App: Chrome
Phone App: Phone
SMS App: Textra
Could be a side effect of the new Marshmallow philosophy of "only ask for something (e.g. permissions) when needed, as there's no option to create a new default.
But I even opened an mp3 file from my downloads folder, got the prompt to select a music player, checked off "BlackPlayer" and "always" instead of "just once", and the Default Apps screen didn't change. Also, when I try to open a file manually, BlackPlayer says "Error loading track!" - though this may be a separate issue.
This is a problem, because I cannot start music playback with the screen locked most of the time (sometimes it works, but usually not) using my aux cord, which has inline volume and playback controls. If I try to use OK Google to play music, it says "you don't have a default app selected for playing music, please choose one on the screen at your convenience". But when I open the screen, there's no list of options, and if I say "play music" again it just brings up a search box showing search results for the Play Music app.
This is really starting to get on my nerves that I can't use the cord I bought with controls without first opening my phone and starting music playback manually. Anyone know how to force Marshmallow to automatically play from a specific app using controls?

Customising Assistant on AW2

So now that we have AW2 and you can press and hold for the assistant, this is a real help for when in the car and I want to play some music without pulling the phone out of the pocket. All great, until I installed TuneIn, and now all of the "Play such and such" gets diverted to that app.
How do you customise which App a command in assistant gets opened up with?
Interested in this too, as I've always had the same problem on my phone. I use Google Play Music, but when I use Google Assistant on my phone, it assumes I want to use spotify, which I don't even have an account for. So when I say "play xxx", it just brings up the sign in to account screen for spotify. I have to say "Play xxx on google play music". I also have a Google Home, and the app for that lets you define a default music service. Can't find a similar setting for Assistant. I do have the Google Home app set up on my phone, but the setting in that doesn't carry over to Assistant.
