I know this is a more Android M general topic, but i hope some of you guys know the answer.
The google now on tap is only supported with English as the main language on the phone, you know when a multilanguage support update will come? have tried to search a little bit for a answer, but did not find anything.
Thanks for answers
Google Now on Tap is a garbage gimmick. Does anyone actually have it enabled?

I used it. It was worthless. It was like doing a Google search for what you want except you don't get what you want. Save some time and just type or talk what you want to know, instead of trying to rely on Google to read your mind, which it can't do.

It's new. Of course it'll have things to work out. Just like anything else Google puts out. It's worked more often than not for me but definitely not 100%.

It's pretty rubbish at the moment, I agree. But actually it's not so different from Google Now when it launched, which also lacked much utility (the weather card tended to be the most useful thing it produced). It had a lot of potential and I feel the same way about On Tap, so hopefully it will deliver in the future. For now, meh.
I would love to use it dispite the lack og functionality. It seems like something that can be very usefull when it works, and after what i have seen is it easy to search in google if the sugestions isnt helping.

Just got word that Samsung and Google are working together to push out the OTA update to REMOVE this function to get around the apple dispute

Mine already isn't working like it used too

I'm not sure if Google Now is what they will remove. Besides, this is only a temporary workaround just to be able to sell phones again. If they can dismiss and prove Apple wrong they will put the feature back and also get about 95 million from Apple which had to put this much in bond to be able to mitigate.
Apple is so scared of competition they will try to do whatever it takes to eliminate it. Since Google Now is light years from that dumb Siri, it really shows how little resources Apple has compared to Google. After all, we all know none of Apple's engineers can think alike... they all "think different"
Probably the quick fix for now to work around the injunction. Hopefully a '#boycotapple=true' flag needing to be set to re-enable.

Lol. Nice.
They are changing the search so for example if I type pulse in the search bar I get a preview of what's available. If I have pulse installed I can launch the app right there. Its a universal search that apple is up on arms about . The OTA will just show online results and not the app installed on the device. This was what was filed in April, there are no lawsuits yet on the Google now features. But you can count on apple finding something that relates to one of their rephrased patents that already exist

The only thing I use unified search for:
1.) Google Searches
2.) Looking up artist/song name to automatically start playing (which could be done in 1-2 extra clicks anyway).
I saw a demo online comparing s voice to google voice search, and of coarse for 95% of the things google won no contest, but I was surprised that s voice could say update twitter and give a message and work, where google could not do this at all yet. Just wondering if they are planning on it being able to do basically everything the other can but better?
You mean Google Now? I believe it comes with every phone/tablet that has JB. If we get JB on the S3 then we will get Google Now, unless they disable it so we become stuck with garbage S Voice.

Yes this is what I meant. Again if you look online for demos one of them shows that it works well, but still does not have full control or access to all apps and such, it literally gives an error that the feature is not working yet. I can only assume since it gives that actual error that they are planning on it having this ability soon, which makes since.

That feature doesn't appear to be available on any phone just yet, it just brings up a google search.
I dunno, I tried Google now and really didn't find it all that great. I couldn't launch apps or dictate what I want done on the app. s voice has been pretty solid for me.

Judging from the recent i9300 international JB leak, it looks like we will have access to both S-Voice and Google Now. So for those who prefer one over the other, it looks like SGS3 users will be able to use either which is good news. I was hoping that Samsung wouldn't remove Google Now from the JB rom when it comes out and so far looks good
I kinda hope they just put the ability to control apps in Google Now, I would not want to have to swap from one to the other just to ask a question, then swap to the other to launch an app. Might as well just launch it manually if your gonna have to do that each time. S Voice is only better for this one thing, ask it anything that requires it to look on the web for the answer and its slow as hell, Google Now is the best for this now, better than siri, so add in the app control and its the king.
I hope with the official JB release coming out soon we will find out for certain if Google Now will have full app controls like s voice.
S voice six because its developed by vlingo who IMO was the worst assistant app... I have the note with paranoid android 4.1.1 and Google now is awesome..until someone ports it to your device I recommend assistant from the Google play market

I use multi-window a lot on my Note 3.
I thought it was an Android feature.
Apparently it's a proprietary software not an Android feature.
Ok. So what's the point? Omni will come for the find 7a and support multi windowww
Sent from my X909 using xda app-developers app
The point is to generate a healthy discussion.
Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe they're is a way to get multi-window on the find 7.
I looked up omniRom. It looks like but it'll require rooting. I don't like rooting.
I'm not trying to be contrarian.
I was literally about order the Find 7 (not 7a) but then realized I have to sacrifice multi-window.
I'm using MW right now. Reading chats in what's app & writing this.
You couldn't have read too much because you cannot order the 7 yet. They haven't even announced when you might be able to put in your pre order. The outfit making the screens has just gone into production which implies the wait will be at the least several more weeks and more likely later. They answered an email asking with an early June estimate.
As to being a deal breaker that's in your court. I won't own a phone without root myself, that is one of my deal breakers. We each make our choices...
No one asked you if it a deal breaker to you.
It's a deal breaker to people who require a multi-window feature.
Clearly we have identified oppo fanboys.
Pre-production fanboys at that lol.
I never said I was going to buy the phone and haven't made up my own mind. I find it a little disconcerting that the app storage is quite low and surprisingly it cannot be easily reformatted as I expected. Or at least previous offerings and the 7A cannot be easily repartitioned. I also am a bit surprised that they are not shipping on 4.4X since a pilot version of it would have been available to them quite a while ago. Considering the fact that they have just finished their latest skin for 4.3 you have to figure it may be a while before you see 4.4X on this phone.
As to your response I don't need to ask permission on a public forum to speak my mind and I don't care what you did or did not ask. My response was directly to the point, you have made your choice and its as valid as mine. It is as you say a deal breaker for you but you are the only person you speak for, others can speak for themselves. I also you use multi window which I will simply add if I decide to buy in here. Many will do the same meaning its not a deal breaker for them either. Course some don't use it and don't care. We all make our choices. Think before you type.
Have you tried "Multi Window - Multi Browsing" in the play store. I understand it is a partial solution only.
I had a Samsung Galaxy Note 3, nice (never used S-Pen ever except to try it) but wanted 4.4 so bought an Sony Xperia Ultra GPE (Now that could use multi-window). Went to a new HTC One M8 (a phone again).
I will pick up an Oppo Find 7 (not 7a) when available. Specs look great (and obviously I'm a gadget geek).
So I would say try the "Multi Window - Multi Browsing" app on the Note 3, just to kick the tires.
Thanks Rudolph.

I will definitely install exposed, and that's a great solution. (Doh). The issue with exposed is that it requires root. It is a good reason alone to root (but there are other good reasons as well).

People can correct me if I'm wrong, but when you are rooted the ability to deny apps root requests isn't that a security plus.

Not yet, it's unofficial and not yet merged. I've been including it in the test builds but it won't be in nightlies.
(Why? Try using G+ when the device is in landscape... Or just do a portrait/landscape transition. Those are the two main issues that have prevented merging.)

There is sense.
I use multi window like hell on my note 3.
I won't even say once or twice a day.
I can say I use it most of the day because I use WhatsApp a lot.
So I continuously have whats app & RSS reader or the browser or youtube open at the same time.
I watch youtube while chatting. I cannot imagine having to leave youtube, go to whats app, write a reply, go back to youtuve, wait for buffering, watch 5 seconds, then go back to whats app, then back to YouTube, buffering. :silly::silly::silly:

So, just stick with your note 3 and leave us here playing with our device calmly.
We not really care about daily usage. We just play the device software.
When we getting boring with a rom, we change it to other rom. and that's it.
That is how the flasher live everyday. Never stick to one kind of features. lol :silly:
Hello to all!
I have a question: how is the integration of Google now with Sense? The various tabs of Google now appears in binkfeed or is there a widget that sometimes it works and sometimes it does not like the galaxy s2 and other terminals? The voice commands how they work? They are integrated with Google now to the point that if I ask something I am given an answer on everything (at least if provided by Google now)?
Inviato dal mio GT-I9100 utilizzando Tapatalk
It's not very good IMO, voice search only works when in the Google app - not on the widget for the home screen. Once HTC activate that I'll go back to using Sense
I believe there is an exposed module now that allows the ok google stuff from the homescreen if that's your bag.
Personally I don't touch google now for obvious reasons, but I think it would be more useful if it integrated with blinkfeed.

If I had to guess, he's concerned about his privacy. Although the way I see it, Google is collecting that information anyways, I may as well get something out of it.
That's kinda the way I see it, I just embrace Google. I'm fully invested in their services so I don't particularly care...
So Google rolled out the Google Assistant feature for our HTC 10, and I've got to be honest, I don't particularly care for it, seems to have less functionality compared to Now On Tap.
Anybody else have any opinions or commentary regarding the new Assistant rollout or know how to switch back to Now On Tap?
Cheers

I like the new one better. never used old one much to be honest. new one seems to do more though, on the old one when I told it to open a app or something else, most the time it would just bring up google search. assistant actually will open and close the app.
I think you can go back by uninstalling google update?
There's a build.prop option you can change to revert to Now on tap...

You might be thinking of the previous Google Now, like back in the KK days?
I use Nova Launcher, and I custom mapped a swipe up gesture on the homescreen to pull up Google Now. Seems to be an easy workaround for the functionality in the "good old days" lol.

It may take me some getting used to. My biggest criticism, is now having to talk to your phone "Siri style".
I personally found the contextual screen scanning function in Tap to be very useful, a major step forward, as opposed to now having to talk to, and ask your phone questions.

It was in the RR nougat rom I was using.
Used it for a while now too...
You could try adding that line to it in hopes that it still works.
If anything, try setting main language to English (US Virgin Islands)
Use flar2 button mapper and have both assistant and now on tap.
I would like to know if there's a way for us 10 users to get the U Ultra sense companion
I saw somewhere that soon it will be available, but dont know where....
I can't stand the assistant. I use google now all the time to search for things by typing them in. I'm also a big fan of the cards showing me weather, travel, sports, stocks and news all on one screen. The assistant that replaced it only allows you to interact with your voice, which is something I have zero interest in doing. The most I ever used the Now on tap voice controls was to set alarms or reminders.
I uninstalled all updates to the Google app and it returned to the classic Google Now functionality. If they ever try to force the assistant on me more than they already have I might seriously consider an iPhone.
