I think Robin is what Nexus 5X should've been. Having said that though, I am a T-Mobile subscriber and I wonder about T-Mobile's unusual network compatibility. Nexus 5X is fully compatible with T-Mobile: Wi-Fi Calling, Band 12 with VoLTE and E911, and even band aggregation between LTE bands: 2+4, 2+12, and 4+12. Is Robing going to have this level of compatibility with T-Mobile? That is pretty much the thing that is keeping me from ordering it and still considering Nexus 5X. Any information is appreciated.
Robin or Nexus 6P
I was the first group of backer. So hopefully I would receive the phone at the mid Feb. But I am having some question here. 1. I am having an 1+ 2(which is very disappointed, purchased on ebay, after 2months screen defected hardware problem, warranty not cover since no order number or buyer info ebay seller couldnt provide to me, and this is not im planning for). Then I would want to cash out robin and 1+ for a 6p. because of 1+ i couldnt trust new company anymore..... what a shame. So I am wondering which would you guys suggest robin is worry a try or just go for 6p.

Anyone having time issues with there devices? Today found that my phone was 10 min fast, had to revert in settings on date and time, I have gingersense B3 2.3.3.
I read some where that this is going on over the pond also, whats your thoughts??
It has nothing to do with gingersense it happened to my wife's non rooted stock incredible.
yeah the other day mine was running 7 minutes too fast. A reset will fix it but it was odd I am running the leaked gingerbread
Its actually a world-wide issue. From the US to the UK.
I just turned off my automatic clock sync and switched to manual until we figure out whats happening.
I just went to settings (clock) and switched to manual then back to automatic and it fixed itself.

First thought is that the ten post threshold may be too low because someone posted something so utterly off topic in the dev forum.
The reason why people post questions in the DEV section is because if the question is relevant to developing ie HOW TO DO THIS.. OR THAT OR WHAT KERNEL RUNS BEST.. etc who better to ask than the developers. Why would someone go post a technical question about something in a generic question and answer section when no one with any knowledge will answer the question. Basically you people who have nothing better to do than NAZI a forum need to go put a D*&K in your mouth. Next time my car breaks down Ill go take it my drycleaners!

The clown who posted the picture proves my point. Sure devs can read the q @ a - How many really do - My drycleaner can also look at my car and try to fix it - Doesnt mean he is the person I want working on my car. Point being either answer the question with an inteligent answer or dont bother what is the point of being a forum nazi.

We are blessed to have this place to learn about our devices and have access to the work of all of the great developers. The least we can do is fallow the rules and respect the developers. Maybe some of us haven't read the rules, here's a good post from the last moderator of our forum on why we keep questions out of the development section and here's the general forum rules which plainly states that we should watch our language and respect other members. Thanks everyone for contributing to such an amazing community

Interesting news read:
"Today they’ve announced that starting with their new Motorola PHOTON Q they’ll be unlocking bootloaders. On a very brief Blog post Motorola outlines that they’ll also offer this to other devices in the future too — but who knows how long that will take".
http://androidcommunity.com/motorol...?utm_medium=twitter&utm_source=Connectandroid
Straight from the horse's mouth:
"We know there are users out there who have been asking for an unlockable bootloader on their Motorola Mobility device. For quite some time now, we’ve been working closely with our carrier partners to find a way to make that possible — all while keeping the networks secure and protecting other users’ experiences. We’re excited to announce that Motorola PHOTON Q 4G LTE, just announced today and coming soon to Sprint’s fast 4G LTE network, will have an unlockable bootloader. We’ll share more details on how to take advantage of this feature closer to availability. And moving forward, we’ll be looking to offer this option on other devices as well."
http://www.motorola.com/blog/2012/07/26/unlock-the-bootloader-on-motorola-photon-q-4g-lte/
Now we all know the "promise" they made in 2011:
"In terms of your question – we completely understand the operator requirement for security to the end user, and as well, want to support the developer communities desire to use these products as a development platform. It is our intention to enable the unlockable/relockable bootloader currently found on Motorola XOOM across our portfolio of devices starting in late 2011, where carriers and operators will allow it.”
To make sure Moto sticks to their new promise, make sure you remind them on their special Bootloader discussion board:
"Motorola has recently expanded the number of devices that allow developers to unlock the bootloader, including the new Motorola RAZR Developer Edition and the Motorola XOOM (Wi-Fi and UMTS). This forum is to facilitate peer-to-peer support and help us better understand your development needs and issues related to this topic. Your input and feedback is important to the evolution of our developer-focused products and we look forward to some lively and enlightening conversations. Please respect our user guidelines when posting feedback".

No hope for Defy or other old Motorola phones... read here. :crying:
Hm, doesn't look promising but I wait for their official statement, rather than some tweet. Besides, the Photon was released a year ago, so it's a "past device" as well.

Photon Q 4G LTE will have unlocked bootloader, Photon 4G will haven't
Ah crap, you're right. Well, I still have my hopes and going to harass Moto again on their Bootloader discussion board here:

You will get what you want, Moto! :silly:
unfortunately we hope .... but no good news from Motorola for Defy , Defy+ users....
I'm more optimistic. The tweet says "We don't have any plans to announce for past devices w/ a locked bootloader." We'll make them plan...
This Photon unlocking thing is getting quite some media attention on Android news sites, blogs and forums if you do a quick google search. A lot of Motorola owners will be very pissed and vent their frustration...

we all poor motorola victims first tried to deal with motorola respectfully....by signing petition to unlock bootloaders, but they didnt listen...they want their carriers partner to be happy more than their customers...but now when they got the way to unlock bootloaders without hurting their carrier partners...WE NEED UNLOCKED BOOTLOADER IN EVERY MOTOROLA DEVICE INCLUDING DEFY else signing petition will turn and change into signing law paper TO SUE THESE EXPLOITERS i am more than ready to sue MOTOROLA if they dont unlock bootloaders,if we dont win than also we will create enough problems for Motorola from every corner of the world..motorola have to unlock it if we all stand together..and file cases separately from different part of the world...!!! JOIN THE MOVEMENT PLEASE!! LETS GET IT DONE!!

+1 C'mon!
Just wondering if it's possible to install the International N7100 version of the CyanogenMod 10.1 Android 4.2 Jelly Bean ROM onto our T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note II (SGH-T889)?
If not, is there any way to port it, it shouldn't be that hard from the looks of it since they are almost identical hardware except for the LTE chip in our phone (some ROM's like the original ParanoidAndroid ROM even left support for it out, an LTE-supporting ROM being out seperate)
Really prefer the new camera and lock screen in 4.2 (running it on my GSIII right now)
What about the n7105 roms?

I find it hilarious that this community has nothing to say about this thread. Yet almost 400 views and I am the only one who responded to the OP's question.
Yes there may be a MILLION threads just like this but come on folks I thought this was suppose to be a helping community....
All this thread needs is the community to respond for an example.....
XXXN7105XXX Rom works with our phones....
So hard right?
Yet so many people here think if they respond to something that they deserve a thanks???
So annoying the amount of you who have "If I helped hit the thanks button!?!?!?" lame so lame.

The reason no one replied is:
1) a quick search would show we have CM10.1 (android 4.2) already.
2) a quick search would answer the question showing porting has been tried, and work except for audio, blue tooth, kernel, radio (basically made your phone useless)
Basically the thread was useless and from almost a month ago.
Your attitude towards others leaves a lot to be desired, and I am hoping this is not your normal attitude as we have enough self-centered people who desire to have their every question answered on a silver platter, though most don't think it very hard to hit thanks when the answer helped.
This community is first and foremost designed for developers and people who have the mindset of helping themselves and others, not for those unwilling or unable to spend 5 minutes looking for the answers to their questions.

I figured I'd make a thread for all things Verizon since it's not apparent when we'll get subforums.
There are plenty of pros and cons to the g4, but with Verizon removing more LG related apps/features than any other carrier.. I'd say we have more cons to complain about.
As long as we get root I'll be happy. Living with the Turbo was terrible because I was never going to pay to root my phone.

Honestly I'm glad there aren't any sub forms. I feel that it divides the community too much. For carrier specific discussions I feel that can be addressed in specific topics.
I think it makes it a bit neater and easier for those looking for specific things on a carrier like Root, ROMS etc...

I HATE one forum. As the above comment mentions, it confuses the hell out of people (especially noobs who ask 500 questions) when it comes to ROMs, Kernels, etc etc. Plus, you get all the annoying people from around the whole world chiming in and no location on their name so you have no idea until you ask and wait if any issues pertain to a specific carrier or model.
We need to unite and be one till we get root and unlock figured out like a one world government! Then can we split, Ok USA?

But we've always had sub forums even before root lol
I agree. Without subforums it starts getting messy. When certain versions start getting root, software updates, etc..it'll be a mess of confusion.
As I've posted elsewhere today, there won't be carrier subforums until there's enough development work to justify it. At the moment it would be a waste of time.

I 100% agree. Most of the topics now are not carrier-specific, once we get root and have more development that's when it makes sense.

TWRP and root
How long does it typically take for the devs to get TWRP and root on a new device? Are there concerns about the difficulty of these with android 9 and Pixel 3?

If the latest Magisk already supports the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL, then root should be ready to go when the Pixel 3 and 3 XL are released. The Pixel 2 and 2 XL also run Android 9 and are A/B slot treble devices like the Pixel 3 and 3 XL should be. The only issue is you'll need a way to install Magisk, which is where TWRP comes in. Being a Google device, I'd imagine that some form of TWRP (official or unofficial) will hopefully be released within a few weeks after the Pixel 3 and 3 XL are released.
If TWRP and root are a concern for you, be super sure you don't purchase a Verizon device. "OEM unlocking" in developer options is typically disabled on Verizon Pixel devices and if you can't unlock the bootloader, then you can't install TWRP, and without TWRP you can't install Magisk, and without Magisk you have no root.
Has there been any leaks or info as to whether the new pixels will support hdmi out?
^So far, none to quote...
Thank You
Especially Thanks for this - In my early android days this would have saved me a lot of headache. I only buy phones now that are unlock friendly. Current device is Nexus six. Bought OP 6 because I thought surely their support / customer service has improved in the 6 years since I had to deal with them (have 2 OP 1's) - No luck, they need to work on their customer care.

misc useless info:
My first device that I really started digging around android was an HTC One-s - Learned quite a bit with that - root, s-off, super CID, etc, - Thought I bricked it multiple times, but it turned out to be soft brick.
Borked radios and had to fix them.
God I love android - Say no to bloatware, privacy abuses etc etc - only buy unlock friendly Devices then all manufacturers will become more unlock friendly.
the phones are already available on project fi.
Will we be able to Port the new camera app to other devices because I don't want to buy the phone but those camera features are super good

This was my only thought when they announced the security chip. Especially since they said one of its primary jobs is to ensure OS integrity. If this prevents root, I will be selling the device and going back to my 2 xl. I can surely go at least another year with the iffy screen.
I am thinking about Pre-ordering the Pixel 3 XL ( coming from the Nexus 6p It's old and dying ). Does anyone have any experience buying the unlocked phone from google directly? I am currently with Verizon, but don't want the phone to be locked to them. If I buy the unlocked phone from them will it still work on Verizon?
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks

I've bought several phones directly from Google (unlocked). They'll work all major network's system.

It will be interesting to see if that titan security chip they're touting will have any impact on gaining root access.

Avoid buying from a carrier like Verizon, if you want root.
Buying directly from Google is best option.
I preordered on Fi but I just saw the $50 credit they had on the Google store, so thinking maybe I should cancel the Fi order and switch to the play store...
Actually looks like maybe the best deal is to buy 2 on Fi and sell one after a month of service on it for the $799 service credit.
Has anyone seen a hands on review that mentions whether or not the wireless charging includes the magnets that the Nexus 5 has? Made it super convenient for in car mounts with magnets (with or without charging).
Anyone with a system dump already? Would love to try and include the features in my Pixify module.
What is Pixel 3 XL's Codename?
