Can't get a working fastboot usb driver on Windows 10 - G2 and Desire Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
I'm trying to root an old HTC desire Z starting by unlocking the bootloader.
I've tried many drivers but none is working properly with adb (while on fastboot USB mode) on Windows 10.
Any help appreciated.

Hi,
I wouldn't use htc's method to unlock the bootloader, rather follow xda wiki, you will be much happier if you do

The above link will give you that and more, also should find links to various drivers, also try searching for universal naked drivers

[Q] Stuck in Fastboot Mode?

Hi,
I have an O2 retail Galaxy Nexus. Before I began to use the phone I thought I would root it now.
I've read through the instructions and tips but unfortunately my PC can't find the drivers...
I could still access the phone so I opened the .bat for Windows Superboot.
CMD read < Waiting for Device> so I closed the cmd after waiting.
The phone now seems to be stuck on Fastboot Mode. Holding buttons or using the screen do not do anything.
This is my first Android device.
Is there a way for me to get back to normal phone mode until I sort the drivers?
I would be tempted to remove the battery if this were any other circumstance.
Will the older threads about Fastboot being stuck also work?
Thanks in advance.
I hit this myself and yanked out the battery to overcome it. Sorry if that's not what you want to hear, but I do now have a rooted device.
In response to fastboot freezing at <waiting for device> you need to install the fastboot drivers (these are not included in the root zip). Google around to find the best way to install them, I ended up installing pdanet onto my PC - as this has them included - and then removed the application after the drivers were installed.
Thanks for the reassurance, el3ctrik. Battery pull allowed it to boot normally.
Think I'll wait til the morning before trying again... Read some more articles, and try the pdanet method.
Ta!
I remember struggling with the drivers when I rooted my NS - I also ended up installing PDA net to sort out the issue.
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
I'm looking at buying a GNex for next to nothing, but the seller says it's stuck in fastboot. Came across this thread after a search, is this a fixable issue?
You need to install two drivers. Actually, it is the same driver, it just needs to be installed twice - once when your device is booted normally, and once when it is booted in fastboot mode.
I personally would use the Universal Naked Drivers by 1wayjonny that bk201doesntexist mentioned, NOT the PDA drivers or Samsumg drivers or any other ones. 1wayjonny's drivers do not install any other software on your PC - they are just the drivers, unlike the PDA drivers.

[Q] Wildfire S not recognizes by driver nor ADB

Hello,
I want to install custom ROM (CM10.x). Followed some tutorials like this one:
http://www.teamandroid.com/2012/07/30/how-to-set-up-adb-fastboot-with-android-sdk/2/
Either HTC Sync nor ADB can connect to the phone. With USB debug I can see it's listed as mass storage but not visible in Explorer. I tried official HTC drivers and the ones from Mobiledit (CCD). No success.
With my S3 and S3 mini there is no problem with ABD.
Can anyone help me to get a valid driver to unlock bootloader?

[Q] Fastboot windows 8.1 AMD HELP PLZ!!!

Hello. I've been searching for hours for solution. I have HTC desire HD and I had CM11 on it. Then I wanted to upgrade it to newer version. I did almost everything, but then I saw, that my PC recognize my HTC in fastboot as My HTC. There is also error code: 10. I tried almost everything (updating drivers, chipset, USB drivers...) but nothing worked. I don't know what to. Plz help
Did you try something like?:
http://forums.team-nocturnal.com/ind...in-windows-81/
or
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2596698
Yes, I tried both, but none worked. :c
What do you get when you tipe adb devices or fastboot devices?
Some times your phone first have to be recognized by htc sync.
I had problem with one DHD even with WIN7 x86. Adb and fastboot didn't recognize device until i first connect it to htc sync and after that i was able to use adb and fasboot.
Good luck

Fastboot Drivers?

Okay guys, I'm not too new to rooting devices, esp. samsung / htc. For some reason I can not get my laptop to find my old Evo when its in fastboot mode. ADB see's it in the os (in debugging mode) but not in Fastboot. I'm trying to root it but of course this is causing an issue. My laptop cant seem to find drivers so I was wondering if anyone had a link for the USB drivers for this guy that will work on windows 8.1
the evo is up to date so I'm hesitant in following an older root method. 2.18.001 if i remember correctly.

Click to collapse
Because you have Windows 8.1, you'll need to run a USB trace and report it back to Microsoft so they can provide a hotfix for your fastboot driver.

device is not seen adb devices

good afternoon, I want to unlock the bootloader of my chinese x2. I managed to get into fastboot by using the in depth app but when I connect my phone (in fastboot)to my pc it is not found by adb devices. I installed 15 sec adb drivers, what am I doing wrong?.
Try different drivers. Search for "smart depot NG" on YouTube.. He has made a well detailed video for unlocking bootloader with all required commands and download links.
Enter fastboot then connect the phone to your pc with cable after that you need to search for fastboot drivers from device manager its easy to find it's labeled as unknown device search online drivers and you're good to go.
thanks for the replys, I will try them later and keep you guys informed!.
unknownwolf his solution did the trick, but I had a lot of help from smart depot tutorial after that, my device is now running lineageos so no more chinese bloatware!. Thank you guys for the help!!!!.
