Tab S 8.4 died suddenly..HELP!!! - Galaxy Tab S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys.
I think my problem has been covered before but I can't seem to get the tablet to turn back on.
It was working fine. It was on about 20% battery so I put it on charge overnight like I often do. I went to use it the next day and it was switched off. I tried to turn it back on but nothing. No light indicating it was charging either. I have tried holding power and volume up and down and home keys (All combinations) and nothing has worked. Done this whilst plugged in to the mains and laptop and unplugged as well. Nothing. I've even tried taking the back cover off and unplugging the battery cable and plugging it back in but still nothing. I haven't been able to find anything else that might help.
I've ordered a new battery, hoping it's just the battery that has died.
Anyone else have any ideas or experiences with a similar problem?
Thanks in advance
Simon

Try holding POWER + VOL DOWN for about 20 secs.

Thanks for the reply.
I have tried this numerous times. Nothing.
I ordered a new battery and fitted it but there is still no sign of life. I'm thinking its maybe a motherboard issue. Anybody else have any thoughts??

MATE if u still have warranty return it, but if not get it replaced, u can do ur own diagnostic and use a multimeter to check if power from battery to motherboard has voltage, if thats to hard for u to do, get it repaired at ur local authorized Samsung dealer.

anybody near you got ipad? use their charger and see if it can power up or not.

[Q] Can't turn on the phone

Hi Everyone,
I purchased galaxy nexus around a week back. Yesterday, it's interface hung up and it stopped responding. I had no other option other then to remove the battery and restart the phone again. I removed the battery and inserted it back but now the phone won't turn on. I've tried everything. I held the power button for atleast a minute and it didn't work. I pressed both volume down and power button but that didn't work either. I removed the SIM card but it still didn't work. I also put the phone on charge but still no response from the phone.
It does not show anything on the screen. Has anyone else faced this kind of problem? Is this a hardware problem? Is there any solution other then replacing the phone?
Looking forward for a reply. Thanks.
Try the power button again. If no worky probably gotta exchange it

Sounds like you've covered most of the methods/states of turning the device on.
All the states of pressing the power button with other options I can think of are: volume up/down/together, usb plugged in and usb removed. Could also try removing the battery in between trying these and varying the length of holding down the power button.
Having usb unplugged, no volume keys pressed and holding the power button for 2-3 seconds has worked best for me.
Otherwise, as suggested above, the other option is to return/exchange the device as defective.
Hope that helps!
How sure are you that the battery is not dead? Of course like you say, the device itself may be dead but still.
Try keeping the phone on charge for a few minutes (say 15) at the very least and then attempt to see if the charging indicator shows on the screen when you click the power button. If it doesn't, then like everyone says, exchange the device....
My 2p's worth...
Thankyou everyone for the reply.
@s1977 pretty sure. It had around 50% battery when it stopped responding. And I also put it on charge for atleast 3-4 hours. Didn't work.
I think the only option left, as you all suggested, is to get a replacement and that's what I was afraid of. I ordered this from the UK and now I'll have to pay extra courier charges + tax to get a replacement.
Anyway, once again thankyou all for your response.

Make sure you try holding the power button down firmly for awhile. Once it took about 10 seconds for me. I was starting to freak out.

Galaxy Nexus doesn't turn on

Hey, guys. I'm facing problems with my Galaxy Nexus I9250.
Last night I left it charging (the battery was around 16%) and this morning I've tried to turn it on and nothing. Tried to charge using different chargers and nothing. Tried to use USB to charge and nothing.
After that I got it, with the original charger, to my office and tried some other methods.
Tested the battery and it displayed some charge. Checked the battery connectors and they are sending energy.
Tried to wait a while without battery and turn it on, nothing. Without battery and nothing. Everything again without battery and connected to the power source and nothing. Left it charging a while and nothing.
Don't know what else can I try before taking it to the support. The problem is my Nexus was bought in US and I'm in Brazil right now. They don't have support for Internationals. I'm stuck. If I'll need to rely on Samsung support I'm, pardon for my words, screwed.
Any help would be appreciated.
This happened to me exactly. I luckily was within 2 weeks of purchase and just did an exchange.

Man, that's bad. To send my phone over to US and then get it back here is not worth it. Yeah, it sounds stupid, but that's the truth around here if we need to rely on our postal service combined with our customs. Unless I find a different solution to ship it to US this is what I have.
Still looking for a local or home-made solution.
A common problem on the nexus s is the power button stops functioning correctly. Although this may not be your issue, it couldn't hurt to try pressing the power button in different ways, tapping that area. Or how about leave battery out, plug phone in to charger and then insert battery. Just some ideas...
Thanks for your ideas. I think I already tried all of these, but I'll check again just in case.

[Q] N2 DEAD?

Well I have had my note 2 for almost a year now, never an issue. The last couple weeks it has been locking up on me. I had to reset it via taking the battery out. This morning it locked up and it will not turn back on. Charging it also shows no LED lights at all (tried different charger and battery). I have a dongle, tried it.. no go. Also of course tried Volume up/down home combo...no go. Running stock rom/rooted. Any help or ideas would of course be appreciated!
Slight update: While pressing the power button, the red led light blinks quickly, but still no go...

They 'seem' to be ok...Best I can tell anyway.
First of all you need to power up your N2 and for this you need some equipments to check the battery connectors and the mainboard status if there is any short circuits etc...I recommend you to visit an service for this.

I imagine that would be the best course of action. Like I said, I did try another working battery (wifes N2), no go. Mine does work in hers. Has to be the phone hardware I think...
Also take the charger with you too. I burned out mainboard of iPhone5s with a charger because of it's connectors.
Unfortunately I have no service center close. With this international phone I may be SOL...

[SOLVED] [Q] Possibly bricked....

Hi,
my battery ran very low (~2%), and I put it in a car charger, and used it for a call. I've heard of car chargers or combination of different cables etc. causing problems, but I think I can rule out a burned out motherboard, as the phone was functioning for the call and a text was sent after.
About 5 min after I took it out of the car charger (got home) I noticed that the capacitive buttons were lit. I tried turning the phone screen on, nothing happened. So I held down the power button for 20 seconds or so, again nothing. Then I held down the power button and volume down, and it went into recovery (twrp)
Not sure why I did this, but I wiped the cache and dalvik cache, and hit reboot system. Now at this point I don't know if the battery died, or if it tried to reboot and didn't work. Either way, it is now dead
I have tried the following;
Hold power button, no response
Hold power button, and volume down, no response
Hold power button, volume down and volume up, no response
Left charger plugged in for an hour, no response
There is no led light on when the charger is plugged in
I have tried connecting to a pc, it makes the 'new device connected' sound, and soon after, the disconnect sound. Windows states that the usb device is not recognised.
Any ideas?
Forgot to mention I'm on Slimrom 4.2.2 build 8 official
Is it true that the phone can't be charged while in TWRP?
Any help would be appreciated, I need to flash KK!!
Shameless bump
I have tried the script to get the phone to charge/ get battery voltage here;
http://www.hackmyandroid.com/comprehensive-guide-on-unbricking-the-htc-one-x/4216
Also, I have read that there could be a script to get the phone to charge, post #4 here mentions that;
http://forums.androidcentral.com/htc-one-x/300271-htc-one-x-will-not-turn.html
Can anyone pls help with this script mentioned in post #4??
I've rooted/ custom rom'd about 9 phones, I can't believe that it can be bricked by losing battery power while in recovery... nothing has ever gone wrong like this, please help!!
Try leaving it charging for ~24 hours
Try unplugging the battery from the motherboard and plugging it back in, if not get a new battery HOX is only about 5 pounds or you can upgrade to a HOX+ battery for about 20 pounds.
tried charging overnight ~12 hrs, no joy, but thanks
I have it opened up now, so might try disonnecting and re-connecting battery, thanks
I have been speaking to the team at TWRP on irc chat. Somebody suggested to strip USB cable back and connect bare wires to terminals of battery to see if it will charge. Will this cause problems as USB is ~5v and the battery is 3.7v??

I wouldn't risk the USB thing. You might as well get a new battery. I have a spare HOX+ battery which is 2040mah bigger than the HOX, I could sell that to you for a cheaper price than everyone elses.
I have since replaced the battery, and also a new power flex cable (that I broke during disassembly!) and something has changed at least......
Beforehand, Windows did not recognise the device at all, sometimes the 'USB device not recognised' dialogue box wouldn't even appear, although it would make a sound
Anyway, now it says that it's not recognised, but in Device Manager, it says it is a APX device (before it was an unknown device)
Can anyone shed any light on this?

Description of your problem is just too general for troubleshooting. How did you get the tab? Used? Has it ever worked? How far do you get when you try to boot it up?
Could be your power button is faulty. If it's plugged in and charging does pressing it light the screen up? If it seems to work could be an issue with charging.
i only get as far as i can plug in the charger and it seems to charge but thats it.

Sounds like the system is functional, except the power switch strip might be dead. Get a used one on Ebay for $10. Beats getting a new tablet. I have something like that but without the microphone. You can use it to test but would need a replacement if you need the microphone.
