[Q] Help With Custom Kernels.

I've installed custom Kernels many times before, but always on Aosp based ROMs that doesn't have SuperSu or any similar software, but when it comes to TW based ROMs I couldn't manage to flash any custom kernel on any TW based ROMs as they come with SuperSu by deafult, so when I go into recovery and install the kernel zip. file, it shows an error with SuperSu binary and phone get bricked, so I have to flash the stock firmware, in order to fix the device, this happened with me multiple times with different kernels, so I was thinking could I use the stock firmware and, root without automatically installing SuperSu, install the kernel then afterwards download Supersu from the store?
There is a superuser update binary zip you can flash through recovery. If you are rooted then you need superuser. I think you have to be rooted to install a custom kernel

[Q] Carrier Unlock

Is carrier unlocking (only) bootloader related?
In other words, will a custom rom or a custom recovery interfere with the carrier unlock?
If you want to carrier unlock the phone you must be on the original stock rom (the bootloader can be unlocked). You can't carrier unlock the phone on a custom rom. So no they are not related.
So the advice is to carrier unlock the device first before even unlocking the bootloader and after that proceed with custom roms if you wish.
my bootload is unlocked, i have a custom recovery and a custom rom installed
so you are recommending that i restore stock recovery and stock rom and then unlock it (but i dont need to lock the bootloader)?
To carrier unlock you must return to your stock rom and recovery otherwise it won't work. The bootloader can stay unlocked.
I unlocked mine while using MaximusHD with lyapota kernel and twrp recovery installed and I had no problems at all, maybe you just need a Rom based on sense and NOT aosp, cyanogen mod etc.

Help please for a noob question.

Hello all developers, I have a noob question, please guide. I have ZenFone 2 running on stock android 5.0 and it is rooted. Now I have to flash custom roms and mods but also want to update stock Rom to android 6.0 whenever ASUS provide updates. So I have a simple idea as below -
1) Install flashify app.
2) Take backup of stock recovery.
3) Flash CWM.
4) Take nandroid backup.
5) Now I can flash custom roms.
6) When ASUS provide updates, flash nandroid backup.
7) Flash stock recovery through Flashify.
8) Full unroot from supersu.
Thus my phone will be fully stock and I can update stock Rom to android 6.0 .
Will this trick work; please tell. I am eagerly waiting for your replies.

if you unlock bootloader with official tools. you cant receive any update from asus with OTA. but you can flash full stock rom with twrp via sideload or edit stock rom zip then install with twrp.

Thank you very much for the information. Btw, can I make changes to stock Rom without unlocking bootloader and revert back to fully stock phone when OTA comes with the above method ?

Unlock code not working on rooted/6.0.1 rom

I've been using my tmobile sim in my tmobile note 3 for some time now.. it's rooted and has 6.0.1 rooted rom on it.. i gave the phone to my dad who has verizon.. I called Tmobile and they gladly sent me the unlock code but it's not working. Will it only work on a stock rom? Does it need to be a specific one? I'm prefer to leave Marshmallow .. I don't have a problem going back to stock but don't want to do it if it's not necessary. Any help here would be great before I wipe .. thanks!
Unlock codes must be entered using a stock Samsung dialler which means the phone needs to be flash with a stock ROM or a custom ROM based off a stock TW ROM.
You could create a nandroid backup of the existing ROM, flash stock ROM, enter unlock code, flash TWRP, and restore nandroid.
