Hello, I have been having this issue since I got this phone. I be texting is when it mostly happens some times too when say typing something in google or web address bar. Its like the keyboard buffer is full or something. I get like 2 or 3 second delay for my next letter to get displayed and the keyboard becomes sluggish. It does not happen all the time. Is their a way to fix it?
Thanks
Hi,
I'm not sure if this will help or not, but try to go to:
Settings > Device > Applications > Application Manager > All > Samsung Keyboard
Once you're in there, click Clear Data, and also click Clear Cache.
If you're using a different keyboard, you can try the same steps for it. If not, you might want to try a factory reset, reinstall the firmware with Odin, or even try a different keyboard altogether.

K will try that thanks bunch. I think I already tried once but does not hurt to try again to be sure.

Hello all,
I'm new to ANdroid coming from a Nokia n900 and I have a couple Questions before I Hard reset my phone. First of all, before ppl start to ask, I'm Hard resetting my Evo 4g because after messing around with it and installing/Uninstalling about 100 apps it's starting to bug out on me (freezes, slows down, force quit lots of apps). So I decided to give it a Hard reset.
I just wanted to know a couple things first:
-Is the Best way to completely Hard reset back to sprint stock rom is to use the "Hold Volume down Key at reboot" method??
-Do I have to back up my app brought from Android market and if so how?
-Will my Purchased Gameloft (from gameloft web store) Games still install/worked after I hard reset? Any Device not recognize problems to be expected?
-How do I back up my saved game files for games like NOVA, Zenonia, HomeRun Battle, and Raging Thunder 2? Where are they stored?
-The contact on my phone are more updated then the ones on Google. How do I export these out to my google/gmail account?
-Is there any way to Save/export my text messages?
-Anything thing else I might need to backup I didn't mention?
I know its a lot, but then again this is a big community. Hopefully a couple of you guys can answer a couple and recommend the best way to do these things.
Experience is what I'm lacking here.
Thanks
60 Views and no replies... really?
Anyone have anything?
It would be greatly appreciated.
I may be able to answer some questions, though I am relatively new to Android OS as well.
1. Yes, the best way to hard reset your phone to a stock ROM is to reboot with the DN Vol button.
2. Not sure
3. Not a clue
4. Each app likely has it's own method of storage, you will have to poke around the app or email the developer
5. If you sync your contacts/email/calendar via a Google account, then the two should be identical. If they are not, something is wrong with your synching. Check the synch frequency on your EVO, and ensure your contacts are synching with the right acount, in case you have more than one on your EVO.
6. Yes, there are plenty of apps for that, though I myself don't use them. Search in the marketplace, or poke around these forums.
7. Backup any photos, videos, etc. to you SD card.
If your phone is running slow, you might want to check to see how many apps are running simultaneously. DL a good task manager/killer, like Advanced Task Killer.

Thanks khov07.
I have Task killer running Aggressively on Auto Kill, but that's not the problem. I'm having to force quit a ton of apps and my browser keeps crashing. And even after clearing all app caches my phone overall is still running sluggish. I'm guessing one of my many apps might have done something.
I just synced all my contacts with HTC sync and backed up my SMS with a app from the market.
Also I just emailed all the developers for the games Im trying to save, thanks for the tip.
I'm still trying to figure out question #2 & 3.
-Do I have to back up my app brought from Android market and if so how?
If you're asking if you have to repurchase them, the answer is no. Your purchased apps are tied to your email. You'll be able to reinstall them.
-Will my Purchased Gameloft (from gameloft web store) Games still install/worked after I hard reset? Any Device not recognize problems to be expected?
I would ask gameloft that. I don't have any of their games

I just emailed gameloft... hope they get back to me soon.
Thanks for the info.
Great its rebooting now!
OK...I'm gonna having hard reset this thing tonight with out backing up my save game files
My evo is now randomly just rebooting. When press call on the phone app or start my default browser it sometimes just reboots.
This sucks. Any one else having these problem??
What rom were you using?
stock sprint rom
It could be one of your apps causing it to reboot.
Use adb to grab a log to see what could be causing it.
adb logcat V > c:\*whatever_folder*\log.txt

Here's a good read You're gonna wanna how to use adb if you wanna root and flash other roms.
random reboots, on androidforums.com it has been determined that the random rebooting issue when using the stock rom is caused by unchecking the following option...
from a home screen press the following: menu button --> settings --> wireless & networks --> mobile network
watch out for that one...
Hi all,
It's been almost a year since I got my GNEX, and I've been using custom ROMs.
Nowadays, I'm on LS RC7, and previously on PA.
I just have a couple of issues that I would like to share with you, and perhaps some of you might have the same:
1) Losing "default" app set
It happens sometimes, mostly with Launcher! It's really annoying, because when I press home, then it asks me to choose again (I use Nova). Since I do not install any other Launcher, it's kinda weird.
2) Losing configuration
Sometimes my apps just lose data. Ie: Endomondo from nowhere just starts from the scratch. Luckly it's an online app.
3) Apps that should keep running are killed by OS
I can see that happening mainly with "Network Speed" app, on the navigation bar. However, I also saw it sometimes with others.
Anyway, I tried changing ROM, full WIPE several times (cache, data, factory reset, dalvik)... and even when I change ROM, behavior is the same.
I realized that even when I do full wipe, some data is kept, therefore it might be related (not sure though). Anyway, it's really annoying.
Any clues?
Thanks in advance.

If yu are really desperate, why not give a try of formatting all that is in there... card too.. and then flash a fresh ROM.. Might help...
Hi ahsanali.pk,
I'm considering doing so.
However, I would like to know if anyone else has experienced that, and how it could be solved.
I'm afraid that doing so wouldn't fix the issue (just like first time I did a full wipe, thinking it would), so that's why I came here.
Thanks.
Any clues ? =S
So I thought this would be helpful because I spent so much time searching and was not able to find an answer. I will post it here to help others who thought their Note 3 was DOA.
Symptoms:
> Upon installation of an app (seemingly random, until several factory resets later I realized it was the same apps for me) it is greyed out and shows sd card symbol
> Trying to launch app would seize up the device and just black screen and force close
> Regardless of factory reset and uninstalling/reinstalling apps, they suffered same issues (other apps were fine)
> Would periodically see the following message:
"Prevention Information. An application has been forced to stop for an unauthorised attempt to access system on your device. It may be safe to delete an application obtained from an unauthorised route. Check now?"
*NOTE: all apps that I was having issues with were via Playstore, not a side loaded one.
Solution:
> After some research and going on a hunch, I finally fixed it by doing the following:
Factory Data Reset
Unchecked 'Verify Apps' option under Settings > General > Security
Dragging KNOX Shortcut to Disable option in app drawer (click and hold icon in app drawer and "Disable" appears on top)
Cleared Data on LookOut Security and re-entered logins
Removed those problematic apps and then reinstalled them
After reinstalling the very same apps giving me issues this whole time, they are now working perfectly. Please note I tried everything under the sun including 2 factory resets and reinstalling/installing from Wifi/Data and nothing worked. It was not a simple parse error or a simple install to sd versus install to device issue. It would happen by default and was not being corrected by any other method than this above. This is what worked for me and it finally solved my issue. I've been seeing a lot of buggy stuff with this Note 3 versus my Note 2 and I feel it's some of this extra crap that Samsung put in the Note 3. I know KNOX is supposed to be great for security, but it will mean nothing if it makes my device lose simple functionality of some apps.
If this helped anyone, feel free to thanks.
Cheers,
So quick update, the issue returned. I think I narrowed it down to a bad sdcard. I didn't think that would attribute to the app issues because I never explicitly installed to sdcard. But it seems at some point the phone tried to store the apps in question on the sd card automatically and that's when they failed. Anyone know if there is an auto apps to sd process on note 3?

I noticed my Sam's Club app was an icon of a grayed out SD card also.

So far after removing my bad sdcard last night I haven't had the strange issue anymore. Actually a lot of the weird things that was happening have seem to subside. *Crosses fingers* hopefully this was my issue the whole time.

Hello all,
I have a problem with my tab pro 10.1. I created a restricted user for my daughter and gave her access to few apps. When I installed a new game recently and tried to give her access, I couldn't anymore because the menu wouldn't stop switching to the "Enable Google search" tick box option.
Its hard to describe so I made a video to show the behaviour:
Samsung galaxy tab pro 10.1 Bug restricted profile: http://youtu.be/G1W8UOjLVm8
I tried deleting the profile and creating a new one but it didn't fix the issue. I couldn't find anything on Google about this.
Does anyone have an idea on how to fix this, apart from a hard reset?
Thank you.
Sam
Have you tried soft reset? Holding power til it shuts down
Are you rooted?
Have you tried deleting cache?

Hello,
soft reset = no, what are the consequences ? any loss of data or settings ?
rooted = no
deleting cache = no, what are the consequences ? any loss of data or settings ?
Thank you
Sam
I'm not against trying those but I'm not the only user of the tablet, I can't take the risk to delete anything
Hello!
I just saw this thread, because I was searching for a solution for exactly the same problem with my Galaxy Note Pro.
When I saw that you also have the issue that the settings dialog switches to the Google search option, I wondered if Google search had something to do with this behavior.
So I deactivated the app "google search" in the application manager.
After that I finally was able to set up a restricted user and allow this user to use certain apps.
So I thought I should share this finding...
I haven't tried yet, but i think, after setting up the restricted user completely, google search might be reactivated again.
As I don't use the app google search very often, I am not quite sure about the consequences of deactivating and reactivating this app. But I think in worst case some settings may be reset to defaults.
Kind Regards
René
It works ! Dude thank you so much for sharing !
I just upgraded from Marshmallow to Nougat by enrolling in the beta. I am unrooted but unlocked bootloader. I was on, then off the beta previously, was rooted to use apps but in the end used Nexus Root Toolkit to put it back to what ever the most current Marshmallow was probably 6 months ago and have taken all updates since then. I currently am unable to see the home selector in the settings and noticed I cannot search the settings either. I can type in the settings search but it never finds anything. I tried clearing all cache, clearing cache from recovery, and running in safe mode. I didn't want to take the step of a factory reset yet as I still have a ton of pics to move to my PC before then. So far I think those are the only issues I'm having but can't vouch there aren't other settings missing as I just know I couldn't find the home because I went to set it. Any suggestions? Thanks.

When I first started using the Dev Preview, I was having trouble finding it as well but if you search "home" in the settings app, you'll see an option for "Home App". The option is in there. It took me a while to find the actual location but if you go to Settings>Apps, then hit the gear icon up top, that's where it is.
Thanks, at least I can get to it now, but don't think that's the complete story yet. I went and found some screen shots of the settings menu where home still shows as the first entry in devices so think it should be there too. Also if I type in home in the setting search I get nothing. Same of I type battery, display, sound, etc. I did just notice I can get things under security to come up though.

Maybe it was an older preview you were looking at? I don't know. I have only used Dev Preview 5 and now the final build and have never seen a home option in the main settings like on Marshmallow. I have more than one launcher installed too. But I don't know why you aren't seeing results when you search in settings. You should see something when typing one, if not all, of those things.
You're right, I think I was actually looking at images of Marshmallow. I can't find a Nougat shot with the home in the main settings display. Seems very odd to bury it so deep in the settings but looks like not a bug. I must never have pro-actively set it while I was using the preview. Now just to figure out the search issue.
Yay, found it, no reset needed! Credit here at the end. Thanks for the info on where to find home. I bet when I was using preview before I just found search.
