Hi,
can I use the Fire TV Stick as a bluetooth receiver for my AV Receiver?
Perhaps with an automatically launched app.

Hi,
I'm trying to setup amazon fire tv to play music without tv on. This is my current setup:
Tv -- hdmi --> fire tv -- optical audio --> soundbar
Problem I have is that there is no sound from tv. hdmi from tv to fire tv is connected through arc channel.
Does anyone has similar setup that works?
Best Regards,
Lukasz
Since the Fire TV stick has no usable USB port to speak of, we can't just plug in an IR dongle.
Some people have had success using HDMI-CEC and their TV remote control. However, my Olevia 232 TV doesn't seem to support the CEC protocol.
Has anyone had any luck using a PS3 remote? Has anyone tried using a Harmony PS3 adapter, or IR2BT bridge?
My thoughts were to build an Arduino device using BT shield setup to use the keyboard profile or Joystick profile; and couple that with an IR receiver.
I have successfully side loaded the settings.apk. I am able to pair a BT PC keyboard. I have seen reports that even some Samsung TV's don't support CEC protocol. So even if officially none of this works, I might be able to Pair one of the devices mentioned above with settings.apk.
Well, I had to side-load the settings.apk. In doing so, I could pair a bt keyboard and a bt media remote control by Satechi. Unfortunately, only PLAY/Pause and the home key do anything. But it's a star. The Forward and back buttons don't seem to work. However, I wonder, if they sent ff and rewind commands; if it would respond.
This gave me the idea to pair the Fire tv remote to my phone.
I was able to pair the Fire TV stick remote to my phone, and tested all of the key buttons .

I wonder if I rename a device to `Amazon Fire TV Remote` if it will accecpt paring in the normal Fire TV settings menu.
Hi,
I have Fire TV 2nd edition and Samsung Series D and Soundbar. The way it's connecting:
FireTV ----> HDMI ---> TV
TV ----> Optical Cable ----> SoundBar
As the soundbar doesn't have HDMI input, I must use the Optical cable. Seems even the source playing with DTS and/or Dolby, the TV is sending only 2 channels (stereo) to the soundbar. However when using application in the smart TV (which is not external), i'm getting 5.1. I read the manual of the TV and it seems it's by design:
When the receiver (i.e Home Theater) is set to On, you can hear sound
output from the TV’s Optical jack. When the TV is displaying a DTV (air)
signal, the TV will send out 5.1 channel sound to the receiver. When the
source is a digital component such as a DVD player and it is connected to
the TV via HDMI, you will hear only 2 channel sound from the receiver.
I read a lot about it and it seems it's because EDID that Fire TV is sending to the TV and in case i'll be able to overidde the EDID, it'll work properly. I understand the Microsoft did something similar in Xbox console.
Any idea if it's possible to hack the EDID? Is there any software solution for this? I see that I can buy audio extractor and it'll solve my problem, however I prefer software solution.
Thanks.
hi ,
I have got the fire tv version 1 remote with voice, when I try to connect this to my shield tv as a Bluetooth accessory it shows in the accessory but It fails to connect to the fire tv remote.
I keep pressing the home button on the ftv remote for it to go in to pairing mode,
I have tried the shield accessories as well but I think the fire tv remote is only Bluetooth.
has anyone set up a ftv remote verison 1 with voice to work with the shield tv and how.
thanka
Hi,
Is it possible to use an Application or something, that could utilise Bluetooth hardware of a smartphone and enable it to function as Fire Tv / Fire tv stick Remote.
I came upon various apps on playstore that acts as remote, if both fire tv / fire tv stick are connected to same wifi network but couldn't locate any app that converts one's smartphone to Bluetooth remote.
Isn't it Possible??
