I use do not disturb mode at night, but I've found that it doesn't switch off the notification LED. Has anyone find a way around this?
Light flow has this option I've been using on the og nexus 5 since lollipop came out.
Possibly try in settings, sound & notification, then scroll down a little, under notification toggle on/off Pulse notification light.
This might do what your looking for.
Regards,
You would think that do not disturb would shut off the LED also, as light could disturb someone. However, I have not seen any settings to do that, so lightflow might be your best option, unless you use ambient display, which I've read doesn't play well together.
The goog should add this feature. For any do not disturb rule you set there should be that option to disable or keep enabled the LED. Seems very basic and common sense to me. Otherwise, as others have stated, light flow or similar might be a good temporary fix
Thanks all for the responses so far. I did try light flow, which didn't help, but I hadn't considered that ambient display might have stopped it working; I'll turn that off and give it another try.
Just checking in here. I had light flow installed on my 5x and had quiet hours activated. When quiet hours were in effect, light flow would deactivate, but then the light would still come on just controlled by Android system rather than by light flow. Pretty annoying.

I don't know, I'm using PureNexus. PN actually has the option the OP wants.

No credit, just found these on the note forum, and thought they were amazing so I'm sharing them here!
Light Manager (Control the LED Notification, simple, easy on the battery. Will upload a picture with the color settings I use as the defaults are not set for our phones.)
Pop-up Browser Invoker - Toss this in your Multiscreen bar, and you can always pop a mini browser up!
[ROOT] BEST APP EVER! I was looking for a way to add a simple Home gesture to the built in commands that the S-Pen has. (Hold button, draw arrow or line) This app will let you set up much better gesture support!
GMD S-Pen Control
Added picture of settings for light manager. Well tried to but the app won't let me. Will try posting a new comment with the pic.
Yeah, I used lightmanager for a couple minutes and was happy that it appears to be our note2 friendly version of lightflow. However that notification in the status bar is way over the rop. Have you found a way to get rid of it?

Hey, first check that that the colors are actually different. Mine has almost exactly the same color as SMS. If it's just not going off at all then please direct your question to the th re ead linked in the OP. I just found these apps, I'm not the dev hehe.

Can something of this type be implemented on our HTC?
I've just moved over from the s7 and it's one of the things I really miss. Just nice having a clock there to see without having to wake device.

It can be done and it has been done in the leedroid rom, whether it's battery efficient is up to you to find out... I'm going to assume not though.
Always on will kill the battery on a LCD screen. Best we can do is ambient display.
It's not the same, but you can always double tap the screen and it will turn on for like 5 seconds showing you your notifications
Ambient display can easily be turned on, and seems to be working.

I'm on unlocked and I'm on stock software rooted and I just add my own mods. I'll share them no problem but I'm still figuring how I want to share. I don't really want to make a rom. I could just share the apks and jars to flash or push, then remove the odex files. Right now I have full apm and ambient display added to framework. I made these apm icons to match stock. I also could just give the edits. Ambient display just needs to be unhide really

I'm using this from google play - seems to work OK, although I've not looked into all the settings yet, the proximity sensor one definately works.

I am really interested in the Ambient mod, anyway I can get it? Thanks
To add to the always on display issue. Lcd displays, if kept on for extended periods of time with a constant image, will burn a image into the liquid crystal. Led displays, well can't they are led dots, if they get hot they just turn off. Lcd displays just can't do that.
I'm using Always on Amoled from Google Play. Looks just like S8's. The clock moves quite often so I hope it doesn't burn display. Only problem is that it kills battery quite badly. But if it's in your pocket or face down it's off. Using it as night clock charger plugged in is fine. Check it out, looks awesome

something new ? work something on HTC 10?
This is driving me nuts as i work with this phone and receive ten's of calls from different numbers each day.
The phone app (i think) keeps asking me in the notification area after calls "Know xxx-xxxxxxx?" save this caller to phone book or something similar. Its a yellow base color notification..
Any idea how to kill this "feature" ?
That isn't the stock phone app. You have another one that is causing this off behavior. When the notification comes up next time long press the notification. A new menu will appear and the name of the app will show at the top. You can then try and turn off the feature in that apps settings or from the menu that appears after long pressing the notification. Turning it off in the apps settings would be a better solution though.

You must deal with shady people. I'm pretty sure that means others have flagged the numbers as spam.
To stop the message turn off Caller ID and Spam.

Any reason in particular why you went with the eu rom instead of the global? Which one should I flash if I live in the US?
EU was the only one available when I first received mine, and it removes all Chinese bloat.

Then select app you want to use light and go to bottom and you'll see Notification light...make sure that is selected.
I have an unrooted Google Pixel 2 XL running the Android P Developer Preview. When Android Auto comes on (via my car's Bluetooth) my phone ALWAYS goes into Do Not Disturb mode. It's a pain to have to turn it off once the app launches every time. Does anyone know why this happens?
It's a safety feature. You could always adjust your Do Not Disturb settings to allow text messages.

I also have a unrooted pixel XL with Android p. Mine is also doing this and I hate it. I can't here any directions if I am using the app for directions on how to get somewhere and I can't use the music part of Android auto either because I can't here it either. Is there anyway to turn it off. It is defeating the whole reason I use the app.
slide down the notification shade, and turn of DND once its plugged in and/or connected to your vehicle.
not ideal, but simple fix.
