How do you turn off the option that wakes up the screen when you pick the phone up?

Bringing a post back from the dead! You are correct but at the time of the original post, there was no "Moves" settings.

May be a dumb question, but any concerned with screen burn-in from charging? Under normal use the screen isn't lit up long enough, but while charging the screen stays lit (dimmed, yes but still lit) and with a static blue ring around the edge. Just seems odd that some kind of daydream mode isn't employed.

The screen is LCD not OLED so burn in isn't an issue.
I had it on the charger for about 2 hours last night and can clearly see the ring and the "moto" and "100%" text, especially on the gray background of the settings menu.

That's my concern. I thought that LCD wasn't impervious just because it wasn't OLED and it is still susceptible to damage.
You can turn the screen off while charging if you just press the button (which is on top while charging).

Strange when I charged yesterday the screen did turn off. It is charging now and the button on top just dims.

I honestly can't figure this thing out, lol
It would appear that the last update keeps the screen on (although dim) while charging. Another change is that putting a turned off watch in the charger turns it on.
Well that solves my question. First charge was off, 2nd and current 3rd charge is staying dim. Thanks!
If you want it off when you charge, go into "Settings-->About" and tap on build number, repeatedly until it displays "You are now a developer". Then go back to "Settings-->Developer Options" and the first option is "Stay awake when charging". You can touch it to toggle between enabled and disabled.

just a heads up (for me anyway) - I wanted to have it ON when charging, so i did the dev mode option. Then i wanted to turn it off, and it seems disabling the option in dev options wont turn it off lol
early release wonkiness i assume

Once we get root we'll be able to change this option in the build.prop file:
Code:
ro.ambient.force_when_docked=true
To turn off the screen while charging:
1. Open the Android Wear app
2. Turn on "Always On" (if it's not already)
3. Wait for the screen on the watch to dim
4. Uncheck "Always On" in the Android App
The screen will turn off until it's taken off the charger, screen is tapped, or button is pushed.

This worked for the LG G Watch as well. But you have to substitute "always on" with "ambient screen" with the update to 4.4w1.

Whoops. Forgot about the verbage difference in the Moto360.
Found this on reddit, looks like it answers my question. Curious to see if they had the screen left fully lit while charging.

Tasker task I create to toggle the screen off automatically.
I've had it since Monday. Charging every night (~8 hours). Developer mode on, but no settings changed. No burn in. I think it's a defect.
I think my zenwatch is defective. I checked the always on option but the zenwatch does not stays on in ambient mode. For some reason the screen turn black. It has been pair with a Xperia z1.
Any suggestions?

If you updated to 5.0.1, they added in a new "Theater Mode" that shuts the screen off even when you have it set to stay on.
To shut it off, swipe down (To the mute screen), then swipe right and select Theater Mode.
Hey guys,
My problem with Moto Z play is, when I turn the screen off, after a few minutes, the WiFi gets disconnected and I have to turn on the screen to get it back.
Is there any solution? "Keep WiFi on during sleep" is on "always", BTW!

I say it is on "always", so it should not go to sleep and get disconnected!

My Moto G6 play was a great phone until a few mins ago the screen was nice and bright then all of a sudden my screen wouldn't turn on, or anything for that matter. So I plugged it in to see if it had died, the only thing I got it to do was blink a white led at me.then all of a sudden the screen came on but the only way I can see it is too take it into a pitch black room and the brightness is set at 100%. What can I do?

Sounds like you have auto brightness on. Just go into the settings and display and look for the option to turn of autobrighness then set the brightness to your desired one

Okay but how is the auto brightness going to affect when the phone is shut off and then turn back on the brightness doesn't change it stays at like pretty much 0%

It also sounds like your phone died.... And if you haven't turned auto brightness off it might possibly will automatically set your screens brightness depending on your lighting...

Hmmmm. Is your device bootloader still locked? honestly if it is just do a warranty replacement tbh
Yes it's still locked, and that definitely sounds like a winner, because she's only had the phone a week and a half.

Is there any toggle/button to disable the Ambient Display? And just show the lock screen when I pickup the phone without pressing any button or tapping the display? So that I can unlock the phone using only face-unlock by just pickup the phone.
you can disable the ambient display, then set double tap to wake the screen which brings you to the lock screen

Thanks for the reply, but my question is, now if we pick up our phone it shows the ambient display. Is there any way to get the lock screen instead of that ambient display when we pick up the phone?

No, or try more complicated way with tasker then yes

Yes, I'm trying to figure it out how to get it worked using Tasker for past few weeks. My plan is to use the face unlock method on home and fingerprint when I'm not at home. Since the pick up to wake is already there in OOS I thought it can be made in an easier way. But pick up is only working with Ambient Display and not the lock screen.
