Tried to disable Adblock to help - About xda-developers.com

I tried to disable Adblock to help support XDA, I do this in all websites I judge worth, I can deal with ADs even ignore flashy ones for the goos cause of helping keep XDA going.
However...I think you guys should have a minimum of self-respect when choosing your sponsors, dating websites? really? hows that related with phone or technology at all?
What's the next uh? a banner about a orgy website?

You can always turn adblock back on. As far as what ads are present... I can't comment on that.
Ads on any site don't usually follow the theme of the site. Just saying. :good:

Now, why does this sound to shameless advertising?
Can this thread be locked. After all, the OP got his point across.
No point going forth with this. Personally I hate spam posts, I would go as far to suggest to outright delete it if possible.

Sorry if it does sound like spam, just thought I'd share it. I spent a good amount of time serching for a program that does just what it does, so I thought I'd post it in a forum that I frequent. Considering we dont have the best search engine on this forum I gave it a simple title just incase someone in the future is looking for the same. Maybe that person wont waste your time with a useless post like I have. Cheers!

Well, I can say for sure that kree's post is NOT Spam! He is one of the newest users of Pocket Secure, and was just sharing his approval here. He has done this by his own free will, and was not asked to!
Users sharing their good experiences with other users are what these forums are all about. Is it not?
@kree:
Thank you for your kind words. Enjoy Pocket Secure, and let me know if I can help you with anything else!
Also watch for a major update in a few weeks from now. This is, as always, free to registered users!
Great security.
However a ****ty website. It refuses to show anything without JavaScript on.

SPB Shell 3d on the Elocity a7

I want to run this app on my a7, but it doesn't support tablets technically.
Is there anything that I can modify in my build.prop to get this to run correctly??
Thanks in advance!

Have you tried it? There are tons of apps out there that don't "technically" support tablets but work just fine.
$15 FOR A LAUNCHER#[email protected]#%?!?!?!
Good god man, thats over the edge of sanity. At $5 I would still be hesitant to buy, but probably would anyway. But now way in hell for $15.

It is alot of money I certainly agree, but man it's sexy. I'd also use it on at least 3 devices, as I have a D1 and 2 other tablets (a7 and archos a70)
I tried it quickly, and have a friend using it. Very aesthetically pleasing, and some pretty useful functionality. I figured with no Honeycomb on the horizon this would be a nice UI fix on the a7 in the meantime.
And yes, I tried on the tablet, and it won't run... it FC's. Although I see no reason it couldn't, the resolution is the typical smartphone res.
I may just rip the build.prop signature from my moto droid or find the atrix signature and push that to my tablet's build.prop. Worst case is I have to reflash the elocimod...
pretty sure those build prop mods youre thinking about; changing build fingerprint, is for accessing apps in the market. that setting shouldnt have anything to do w program execution. or was there another setting you were thinking of?

Well I was thinking I could trick the device into not reporting as a compal naz 10. The a7 doesn't have a different resolution than most smartphones so I figured it should run on the tablet.
If they plan to update then I can probably wait.
I tried SPB Shell 3d today on my A7 and it works great as is. A few little annoying things I couldn't figure out, like how to get rid of the phone icon on the launch bar, but otherwise, nice. Not my personal favorite but I'm keeping it for a bit to play with.
Just press and hold the phone icon and it will bring up your apps, you choose one to replace it. And the blank spaces on that bar if you press and hold those you can select more apps (up to four in the bar) The animations are sweet. Of course if I turn tablet off then I lose SPB as an option for launcher and have to unistall and restore my titanium back up or atleast restore data.

Hope that solved youir issue with it not working after you purchased it.
mmm, is your licensing issue just about the restrictions for tablets, or does that circumvent paying for the app?
pretty sure thats not encouraged around here.
Sent from my X10i using Tapatalk
I'm not posting anything new not hard to find if you look around.
by the way I'm guessing adding gapps to a device google didn't authorize to have it is much different. Just my opinion, but alot of developement seems to be done in grey areas. That app wasn't designed to work on tablets. And how about the person who paid for it and it doesn't work.
@rombold; yeah, we all know about gapps, and its obviously promoted for use on this forum and every other forum regardless of google contracts or licenses. but its also a private developer forum that generally doesn't encourage screwing the little developers.
no need to get butt hurt for being called on promoting warez/bypassing paying for a small developers app.
heres some help for you;

If a piece of software requires you to pay to use it, either pay or find your cracks and serials somewhere else. We do not accept warez nor do we permit any member to promote or describe ways in which Warez, cracks, serial codes or other means of avoiding payment, can be obtained.

I thought links to external sites for software\roms was against the rules, e.g. keep everything in one place. (However I can be completely wrong)
Im getting my touch on Monday and am super excited to see root, but having come from an Epic 4G (horrible community) plagued with people selling roms, closed threads and trolling..
I just dont want to see that happen here with this phone.
Perhaps the name *epic* is jinxed.
If I could request one thing, that would be to post a direct link here in the OP.

It is against the rules to link to a site where you are required to register to download. You don't for the ACS site, so it doesn't break any rules.

dont go donating yet its a bad habit to start. if you wanna donate, t hen donate if your satisfied with teh final product
Do people usually create threads proclaiming they've achieved root BEFORE they've actually achieved a distributable root? Been refreshing the "GOT ROOT!" thread all day, and now following Shabby's quest in IRC. Kind of funny. Not trying to knock anyone, but damn they keep getting my hopes up!

Please quit with the audio-default-enabled ads that autoplay

Hey guys
Please Q/A your ads setup. Playing audio enabled auto-play ads is extremely annoying and beyond acceptable.
Let's keep both of us happy and un-adblocked.
thanks
Do you mean on the site or the app? I always have my speakers turned off on my machine at work, which is generally the only time I'm not on XDA using the app, so I never noticed sound in the ads.
I hate that sh#t though--especially when I'm at work and not trying to draw attention to the fact that I'm taking a break from working to spend time on XDA.
At any rate, the XDA Premium app is well worth the $1.49 to not have to deal with ads (or having to use ad-blockers to get rid of it)...

they are on the laptop/pc and are insanely annoying, watching something else while on xda (i.e. rooting video) and the dishwasher tablet advert starts up out of nowhere with me left thinking "WHAT!!!!??? WHAT KIND OF IDIOT DECIDED TO PLAY THAT!!!!"
Please take a screen shot of the offending ads and post here or pm a senior member of staff. We generally don't like this crap either..

I'm getting one for Vanish carpet cleaner over and over, it just won't stop!!
Also the option of creating an acc with Skipit so I don't have to listen to it and all I have to do is pay a dime every time I skip an add !!! WTF??? I have to PAY not to listen to this rubbish.. You have got to be joking !
And I've just found that the pause and mute only work for 30 seconds and then the buttons don't do anything and the adds just play and play with no way of stopping them or shutting them up.

Yeah, what is going on in these advertisers head?
"Hey let's annoy the living daylights out of possible customers, that way we are sure not to get any customers."
What's worse is that people will install ad-blockers causing sites to lose revenue, couldn't you theoretically sue the bastards for doing this?
I haven't actually encountered sound ads here, though I have on other websites which is really annoying when you are working with 60+ tabs. (can get as high as 400 but then its just because I haven't been cleaning them).
I might have found a work round, or I might have just not had this come up today (or the site might have fix it?)..
If you right click on the add and pick 'Settings' from the Flash options at the bottom (not Global settings) and reduce the amount of local storage allowed to zero it may stop the add running...
All I can say is, I did that yesterday and I haven't had it run again (yet!).
You might have to restart your browser (I'm running FF)...
I was wrong. It doesn't stop it, it's just started up again
It's now coming from 'tag.ybrant.hiro.tv' But still has the Skipit banner at the top...

You act like we hand pick the ads. Obviously we don't allow auto-playing ads like that as they are really annoying. Our ad networks are pretty good with keeping them out, but if you do see one please let us know on the "Intrusive Ads?" thread! We'll report them and they'll remove them if they haven't already (because if they are playing here, they are probably playing on other sites as well).
why ?
