Please help- Software locked on my HTC 816 - Desire 816 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

The screen all of a sudden started going black to white with the green HTC powered by android screen. I've done the volume down/power button it will bring up the reboot option screen but if I try to do a factory reset it goes back to the flashing screens. It says Software official locked above the reboot screen. It's not under warranty, so I'm not sure what it will cost to ship it to them and get repaired, so I was hoping someone could give me another option.
THANKS

you can put your question in the Desire Q&A forum or in the Desire general forum.
some one? please?
Have you tried taking out the battery for a few minutes and putting it back in?
Could be phone battery got too much power from your car charging port. If thats the case, maybe you could exchange the battery.
yes, i have tried, i think the problem is with to rom, but i cant install any new rom coz they all need rooted device and to root the device i need it to be turned on
If it's the stock rom send it back to HTC for repair. Mention that it has a faulty motherboard. If you don't want to send it back boot in to fastboot or recovery and do a factory reset to see if it changes anything.
Don't ask how to do that just search.
why do you think that this is a motherboard problem?
i have tried a hard reset and it stuck on the same place - the htc logo.
and i have searched before i posted my question...
anyone? please?
some one? i need some help please
If you are running a stock rom, it can definately not be something wrong with the rom, as there are no way! Files in the rom(/system) can be changed while you were using the phone. So if a factory reset as mentioned earlier doesn't solve the problem, you will need to send it in for repair. Do a factory reset by:
1. hold down "vol down" and press "power" while keeping the "vol down" pressed
2. Choose recovery by using volume keys and power button
3. when seeing the red triangle and the ! hold "vol up" and press "power"
4. in the menu choose factory reset by using volume keys and power button
if you can't do first step(boot into bootloader), or this doesn't help the problem, you will have to send it in for repair...
and for god's sake do not try to root, as you will just void the warranty.
same thing happend me too yesterday. i search everywhere... found nothing.
phone charge is empty and turned off.. wont came again. stuck on HTC logo screen. i tried Vol (-) + Power button to Recovery, phone restarting and again stuck same screen. i cant install any rom.
i was buy in germany i'm living in turkey and call customer service, they said: "we cant get warranty your device. because you get it out of turkey"
how can i fix this pls help..
hboot: 0.93.0001
radio: 5.11.05.27
rom: stock ota update 2.29.405.9 (i think was last update this)

Warning - EXTREME NEWBIE...htc one m8 wont boot past htc one screen

Hi there.
My partner recently tried to update his HTC one m8 Telstra phone. The screen got stuck on "android is upgrading" starting apps. With a little blue loading circle going round and round. Eventually his phone went flat and now the phone will not load past the HTC one powered by android screen. Have tried pressing volume - and power button to go into boot loader and the same thing happens. If I select recovery a little red triangle appears. Have wiped cache. Still no change. If I do factory reset, it goes through the process of "optimizing apps" and then gets stuck on android is upgrading screen etc.
My partner is even more technologically ignorant that I am so he has never done any back ups or anything .
SD card slot does not work (as he ran over his phone last year) however phone has functioned normally for the most part, up until he attempted to update. Please help if possible.
If it is not hardware problem .. only possible to fix it if the bootloader is unlocked.
Why ? because there is no Telstra RUU available, you can only fix it with a nandroid backup
To get to bootloader, press & hold both power + volume up buttons until the screen turns black, release both buttons and press & hold volume down button only to get to hboot. Then select "fastboot" on the menu to get to bootloader screen.
Can you tell what's written on bootloader ? Is it LOCKED, UNLOCKED or RELOCKED ?
Thank you for replying.
Ok so firstly, how do I tell if it's a hardware problem.?
Secondly, although the phone displays a Telstra icon upon startup, my Optus SIM card, well any carrier SIM card really, works in the phone, therefore would it be possible to use another RUU? (What on earth is an RUU?) And nandroid??? Please explain what all these terms mean, if you don't mind of course.
Because his phone screen is damaged from running over it last year, it is hard to see all the information. I'm fairly certain it is still S-on though. Is there any way I could view the boot loader details on a laptop?
I have tried the fastboot option and it still returns to HTC one screen.
How do I get a nandroid back up? Is the phone at all fixable in your opinion? I don't believe it's hard bricked from what I've managed to learn so far, though I could be wrong, as it still goes through the cycle of "optimizing apps" and attempts to start apps after selecting factory reset in boot loader.
I apologise for my lack of knowledge and ignorance on this matter and I appreciate all your help
A lot of your questions are answered here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=52484527
I don't say it is really hardware problem, I say if it is not then it is fixable by restoring correct software.
That's why it is important to get to bootloader because most info are available there.
I want you to give the details of what's written there before I can guide you further.
Those details will tell whether that's a Telstra device, whether the device was rooted which may explain the problem and so on.
If you can't get the right button combination works as I mentioned above, then you need to switch it off (maybe let the battery runs out), charge it for a few hours. Take out from charger then press & hold volume down (read again above I mentioned volume up & volume down because which volume button is important) then connect to PC or charger (this comes after you press & hold volume down button not before)
No bootloader .. not possible to fix (unless it is send to HTC centre)
I am able to get to the boot loader screen (I googled so much before posting on here) but most of the information is blacked out due to the screen being wrecked. I will try and gather as much information from what I can see and post here when I get home and I will also try and upload a picture.
Do you have any advice on how I would determine if the issue is due to hardware?
I will provide further information shortly and once again I'm am sincerely grateful for all your help.
Not easy to know it's a hardware issue when it is still can boot-up but bootloop.
hard brick means no response at all (still sometime it is due to no battery)
Ok so here a few photos of the boot loader screen, the fast boot screen and the recovery mode screen. Please bear in mind a lot of (possibly vital) information is not viewable due to screen damage that happened last year.
The most important detail that I need to know is not visible there.
Really need to know whether the bootloader is LOCKED, UNLOCKED or RELOCKED because that portion is blank out with the damage screen.
What you can try ... while on fastboot/bootloader screen (your pic #1), try to install TWRP recovery
Download TWRP 2.8.7.0 from here : https://dl.twrp.me/m8/
Make sure your PC has the required drivers, ADB/fastboot - if not sure, install these :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=64926362&postcount=4
After connecting the device to PC, install the TWRP recovery with command :
fastboot flash recovery twrp-2.8.7.0-m8.img
advise the outcome, if it successful then it is easier to fix the problem.
Ok thanks. I'll download those things and then try that. From what I've learnt so far, I'm pretty certain the boot loader is locked. He got the phone brand new and has done nothing further than change his ringtone, screen display and lock screen. He's worse at technological stuff than I am lol.

Softbrick Looping? S-ON, LOCKED, randomly bricked itself

I have issue with my HTC 10 was wondering if anybody has any information or is having similar issues;
My Verizon-Branded, Bootloader-Locked, Stock, Un-Rooted, S-ON soft bricked itself...Boggles my mind a bit, a softbrick that rebricks itself before you can boot to any menu that would allow you to fix it.
During normal use the phone shut off and stayed off. I attempted a reboot, but it would stop at the HTC splash screen every time. I can get to the rainbow menu by VOL DOWN+ POWER until nav keys flash 10 times then quickly pressing VOL UP+VOL DOWN + POWER before screen goes fully lit and HTC Logo pops up. At this "rainbow menu" I think its the stock recovery for the phone it lists S-ON, Locked, then options;
Power Down
Reboot Bootloader Mode
Recovery Mode
Download Mode
Reboot
I've tried every option but they all end up in my phone hanging at the HTC Screen and stays there until the battery is drained. I've tried different Micro SDs, letting the phone's battery go to 0%, charging, rebooting while plugged in, ect.
Anyone have any idea or experience similar issues? I know this is a verizon model phone, but I thought I'd have a better chance getting answers if posting here.
Brought it in to Verizon, they couldn't get any recovery mode bootloader mode to work either. Verizon rep talkedt to HTC and they are sending me a new phone. I was curious if anyone else has heard of this issue on the Unrooted, Locked, S-ON, HTC 10.

You can't brick this phone flashing a ROM. If you were just stuck on the screen, without knowing how to reboot (and/or how to get into bootloader), you can force a reboot by:
1) Holding Power + Vol up until the screen goes black to reboot (in a "stuck" condition, you may need to hold the buttons about a minute).
2) The moment the screen goes black to reboot, let go of the buttons; and only hold vol down. Don't let go of vol down, until the bootloader screen appears.
3) If you fail to get into bootloader (stuck on HTC logo screen again), its virtually always due to getting the timing wrong; either started pressing vol down too late, or let go of it too early. Just repeat the process, until you get it right.
