I just flashed the new 20a Marshmallow software, and I'm playing games on my phone right now and the temperature seems to be better than it was before. GSam battery monitor has it around 102 - 103 degrees F. I think this is cooler than when on Lollipop. Just seeing if anyone else has similar experiences.

Hi guys,
I've had an Optimus G (E975) for about a month now. I have started noticing that the phone has tended to run quite hot recently and am wondering if any other users have this issue.
For example, if I am listening to the radio (TuneIn Radio), and surfing on Chrome on 3G connection. The temperature has gone up to 105F according to AndroSensor - the phone also gets quite hot to touch as well. This is also with Ecomode turned on. What I have now noticed is that even surfing the web (non-flash based websites) the temperature can already reach close to 100F. Is this normal or is there a defect internally? I am still within my warranty period and am wondering if I need to return the device.
I have read reviews stating even with heavy gaming, users have not seen battery temps go above 100F, can anyone shed any light on this issue?
I can post screenshots of AndroSensor if necessary. Currently running Android 4.1.2.
Thanks in advance.
do you live in a hot area? most of these tests are done in an ambient temp of 24* celcius and yes where i live ( moscow ) it tends to get to 36 degrees celcius and the annoying unable to increase brightness still comes up.
Hi all, I've had the T-mobile LG for couple weeks now and the phone heats pretty bad although I've never got the high temperature warning yet. However, I'm a little bit concerned about the battery temp.
My battery temp has gott up to 42C/108F when gaming ( I was playing Golf Star to be specific) and even up to 45C/113F when I tested the phone with UHD video recording (the CPU temp got over 80C/176F during that video test). On the back of the battery there's little icon showing >40C/104F with a cross. I was wondering if it's dangerous if the battery got over that temperature when the phone is being used?
Moreover, the battery even has some sort of burning smell when its temp over >38C/100F now. Is that something I should concern about? It smells fine when its temp is around 35C/95F or lower.
The battery temp while charging seems fine when it's only around 33C/91F. The CPU usually at 45-50C/113-122F when charging.
Ambient temp has been around 40F-50F when I notice the issues above fyi.
One more thing I'm concerned about is the CPU always gets over 70C/158F or even 80C/176F every time when it starts up.
I was also wondering if I should be concerned with those issues and whether your guys experience similar issues. My phone was running with everything STOCK when the above info is recorded
Thanks in advance for your inputs, guys.
Hi Everyone,
Just wondering how your Nexus 7 runs under the new OS? I notice my device getting higher temperature than before, especially when playing some games. For example, with CPUTEMP and Smash Hit, CPU's temp was around 50-55C on Kitkat but now it is 65-75 on Lollipop.
Would be great if someone can run the same test and see if you get high temperature on this game.
Thanks
I can attest to this myself. I use the same app (on a N5 and N7) and I've noticed that the feel in the hand, while doing normal stuff with the same usage pattern, seemed hotter than normal. So I launch the CPUTEMP app and run the overlay, put the N7 to sleep for 15 minutes to idle. Temp starts around 36 C when first turning on the screen, then it ramps up to 44 - 50. Then while actually using the device, (e.g. surfing the web, email, basic stuff) the temps will go up to the 50s and 60s easily. If I leave it at rest on the homescreen after using the tablet, it idles around the low to mid 40s. While video chatting online with someone (hangouts / skype / etc) it will ramp up to 70s, then 80s, and finally cap out at 95 C. (5 degrees before S4Pro SoC maximum?) A video chat will last 2 - 2.5 hours on a fully charged battery, and the heavy SoC throttling affects the frame rate / responsiveness of both my front / back camera preview during vid chat and the entire OS. Downloading an app or two brings the temp 55 - 61, and then installing them (due to AoT compile) from 61 to 72.
The same goes for my N5 also on Lollipop, to a lesser degree, but nonetheless, it runs higher average temps than I noticed while running KitKat. Both devices appear to drain battery quicker on Lollipop, especially during use. That's not even considering LTE / mobile data use, since these days I'm here at home using WiFi all the time.

Yes. You are correct. Even i face the same issue. The device gets heated even on playing candy crush / angry birds which was not the case with kitkat 4.4.4.
Hey all.
Bought this phone in August and I love it, great phone. However, I have a couple of issues, one of which could possibly be fixed by changing the runtime environment?
Is there a tangible improvement when running ART rather than Dalvik? Most people say there is a "huge increase" in battery life but I'd like to hear to users who've been running it a while. Does it effect stability?
Also, is it common for the G3 to get hot on the camera/buttons? I'm using a QuickCircle case and the phone can get incredibly hot around the camera, even when not doing anything too intensive, such as browsing Chrome over HSDPA with full signal (and 50% autobrigtness). GSam Battery Monitor has reported battery temps as high as 41 degrees Celsius
Phone Info:
Model: D855
Carrier: Three UK
Root: No
SW Version: V10l-EUR-XX
Art got me better battery life. Stability is the same on both.
Depends what are you doing. If you are doing some complex stuff phone will get warm/hot.
Is it normal to get hot on the buttons though? Its just browsing chrome on HSDPA, it shouldn't be getting that hot surely?
Thats not normal.
That is not high usage. It would get hit on those parts while playing games or something like that. Not browsing.
Should I contact LG and get a replacement? I bought it from someone (unwanted upgrade) so I think I should be okay returning it
If they would want to get you replacement. I think they will send it on repair.
I might just factory reset tonight and see what happens. I'm waiting for Lollipop so I'd need to reset anyway, if it still continues then I'll send it off
I m using mokee 8.1 nightly and also tried other custom rom my mobile stay warm and battery temp stay at 43 c can anyone confirm is this the rom issue or it's just me ..

Change rom and see if that is the issue or its hardware... Im on blankafs lineage os and get 8h sot phone is cold.
Edit: wipe everything, format data and do clean flash. Update Firmware.
While is not an insta death for the phone it will degrade the battery faster. What i would is try stock rom and see the temp. After that you can make your own conclusion
If it is idle then that's a ridiculous temperature. It should be about the temperature of the room it is in in idle (+5 degrees C maybe), and when in use maybe maximum 40 degrees C, 45 C heavy use.
BUT, it depends on the ambient temperature (ie. the heat in the room/ outside). If it is hot then expect higher temperatures.
The higher temperatures will degrade the battery capacity over time, but the Mi 6 uses Lithium-poly rather than ion and so can withstand temperatures up to 50 degrees C without significant degrading of performance.
So the ideal scenario is to have it cool, but it will tolerate warmth up to a certain degree. If the ROM is idling the battery at 40 then ditch it unless it is extremely hot weather where you are.
mine is like 15-18C idle and 20-25C while working 30C maybe when gaming havent measured, using MIUI global stable
