!!NEED HELP URGENT!!
So, I have a XM SS.
What I did is, took backup of TA before unlocking bootloader.
After unlocking, phone went in a soft brick condition. So I flashed stock ftf and luckly the baseband and imei got restored automatically.
(There was some notification about restoring TA on notification bar)
The problem start here,
I flashed twrp recovery and then wiped system+data+cache and flashed ROM.zip and wiped dalvic+cache and reboot.
Phone started normally and the ROM was beautiful. But the network said 'No Service'. Then I checked sim status and imei in settings, it says 'Not Available' BUT baseband was shown in the settings.
Then I again flashed stock firmware and the baseband+imei got restored automatically. (There was some notification about restoring TA)
Now I want to use this ROM+sim card. What should I do? Any ideas will be appreciated.
OR
Can I Exclude files/partition related imei while flashing zip?
Should I backup any other thing before flashing ROM. So that I can restore it after flashing. I have heard about backing-up imei file, will it work?
Any Help or Suggestion will be appreciated!
Thanks.

hitman-xda

Custom ROMs use the 4.3 baseband, so you have to be at least in 15.4.A.0.23. Try flashing a 4.3 FTF. Also, if you are to go back to stock ROM and relock the bootloader, it must be from the same firmware, or you'll get a soft brick.
Okay! I think your right!
What I did is, took backup of TA while running latest 4.3 and
after UB I got soft brick and flashed stock 4.1 ---> twrp ----> ROM.zip (5.1.1) (wiping everything)
The problems I'm facing, due to this?
So, I need to follow below steps right?
1. Flash latest 4.3 ftf
2. Flash recovery
3. Then flash 5.1.1 ROM.zip
So following this, I'll not get imei issue, right?
Can I take update from Sony. I have one system update in Update service.
Can you give me a right link for 4.3
Which will work for me in India!
If your bootloader is already unlocked and still not on 4.3, then flash a 4.3 FTF. You can find the appropriate FTF on XperiaFirm, but the FTF file size is ~700 MB, so it requires a lot of bandwidth. Afterwards just flash a custom recovery and ROM and you're good to go.
Done the same. Works fine. Thanx

Is there a way to downgrade the Galaxy Note 2 N7100 from 4.3 to 4.1.1 firmware because I've been foolish enough to flash a 4.3 custom ROM without making a backup of the EFS. The phone has a service provider sim lock, so I need to downgrade to 4.1.1 or is there any work around to sim unlock my note2 on 4.3 without rollback the firmware to 4.1.1?
EDIT:
I'm currently using my Note2 outside the origin of the phone which is the Philippines, I'm currently residing in Manama Bahrain.
You can try to find the newest version for your phone, country and carrier on http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/1/
I have not tried to downgrade with Odin, but I'm guessing it would work.
efs restoring query??
hello everyone, i ve a efs backup, backedup wen im running on 4.3 (xxuemj5). is it possible to go back to 4.1.2 (N7100XXDMB2) and restore tat backup (backed up on 4.3)? i had a prob (" not registered on a network") last time wen i went back to 4.1.2.
thanks in advance-
I don't need the newest one, I need to find a firmware with a sim unlock app compatibility.
Then download the last version that worked for you.

I wanted to downgrade to a lower version of the N7100 firmware, preferably 4.1.1 since I need the sim unlock. The phone is locked to a Philippine telecom, I'm currently asituated overseas - I want to use the phone overseas, hence, the need for the sim unlock is dire.
EDIT:
One more thing, the EFS backup and nandroid backup got deleted when I wiped(accidentally) the sd card.

Yes, what I did was;
Enter download mode > Flash a custom recovery (It was TWRP in my case) > Reboot > Flash a 4.1.2 based ROM
*I was quite lucky though since I flashed a ROM with a separate zip for the new modem, I got stuck in the process of a full reboot after flashing the ROM. Whence, this should be the sequence I'm supposed to do to make the ROM work;
Full wipe > Flash ROM > Reboot > Go on with setup > Wait for the boot sequence to finish > Reboot > Flash newer modem > Reboot
*I got stuck on the first reboot routine*

another issue regarding the downgrade
Hi,
my N7105 is rooted, 4.3 is installed, knox had been installed but was deleted using Titanium backup. Now i want to flash it back to 4.1.2 again, but:
odin doesn't recognize the phone, i don't have any files to try flashing it via recovery mode and the official update function doesn't work, because it's rooted. I also don't know, if flashing via the recovery mode would work at all.
Am i bound to 4.3 forever?
Generally i simply want to downgrade to 4.1.2 as i can't see any advantage in 4.3 or -if possible- would like to try cyanogen
Best regards

Hello I have the same problem with my note 2 upgrade to 4.3 and I can not release my computer does not recognize the codes, just like you want to know how can I go back to 4.1.1,,,, help!!

Hello there,
I live in India and my Note 2 is a Poland made and running with 4.1.2 stock ROM non rooted. But the device status was shown 'modified'. Due to that (i think) i was not able to get any updates. So i decided to download and flash 4.3 ROM via odin. I did exactly and flashing was success. But after that i was not able to connect to my mobile network. It shows the coverage, base-band version, operators around me, IMEI...etc. But failed to register on network. Sadly i found that my IMEI was changed. Then i searched in xda and found out few modem patches. To flash them i rooted device and installed recovery. Then flashed DMG1_MODEM and modem_XXDME4 but nothing happened. Phone is still not registering to network.
What to do ?
I assumed that your device history was imei null or efs corruptted which has been fixed under 4.1.2 version.by upgrading the modem it will surelly broke your efs again.use special box to repair the network, nothing else you can do.
you have to flash the factory-image via odin (i think this would be the poland one in your case). you will get this on sammobile.com. with this it recreates your efs including your imei. (had this problem also)
after this you can try flashing a different rom, but don't forget to backup the efs

So using the phone like a tablet without GSM is the future for me ?
Before I get to the point let me explain what happened. I attempted to root my S3. It did work up until I got to the point where I was ready to flash a ROM and it didn't work. I received the "status 7" error on CWM and I receive an error on TWRP that means the same thing. So what I did since I couldn't restore from a backup that I would get bootloops from, I attempted to install a ROM that was .tar or md5.tar through ODIN which only worked for original firmware (given in the screenshot). I have managed to install this ROM on my phone through TWRP but unfortunately it is for TMobile and somehow my AT&T service works on it. Here is a screenshot of the phone. I have tried flashing "aokp_task650_d2lte_kitkat_6.3.2014" that is made for the AT&T S3 but no matter what I try to flash it will not flash. I have already tried doing the "ASSERTS" method but it did not work. Can someone please help me fix this issue??? :/

The hybrid firmware thing shouldn't really happen but for some reason, cross flashing between T999 (T-Mobile) & i747 (AT&T) sometimes happens without necessarily causing a brick. I would suggest you do a complete stock restore to AT&T 4.3JB firmware (UCUEMJB). Thereafter, you can go back to flashing your preferred custom ROM. Since you appear to be able to get to TWRP, you can first, from custom recovery, remove all existing firmware including OS and then reinstall the stock firmware. It appears the bootloader is still UCUEMJB so flashing AT&T stock firmware shouldn't be a problem. Please see the thread below for 4.3 stock restore...

So in this case, I just flash everything that it gives me correct? Is the stock ROM still rooted? If it is not then what rooting process do you suggest I go through? If it is a rooted ROM. Then do you recommend I unroot it and root it again or take some other alternative method? I really appreciate your help

It's a complete stock image which will take you to as near factory condition as you can get. This means it is unrooted. You would need to re-root after (successful) firmware installation. Prior to flashing the firmware, please remember to use custom recovery to remove all existing firmware including OS. Once you've restored the firmware, there are several ways to root but my preferred method is SafeRoot. You can find the download links and instructions to SafeRoot in the thread below ...

You can also try Option 2 in the thread below ...

I am running 4.4.2 on my S3 (AOKP Task650) but unfortunately I am receiving some battery drain. Is there a Kernel I could use to prevent this and save more battery? just to confirm, you re on ucuemjb bootloader, and installed/running Task650 4.4.4 rom 7.21.2014 (at this writing thats the latest update for the rom)
right?
sorry last time i tried to flash task650 rom, i got errors concerning the bootloader, went back to CM11 which has been my go-to-go rom and everything works fine, after you respond i will flash and get back to you on the network issues
thanks
My ATT SGH-i747 was rooted and running 4.4.2 until an OTA this past weekend soft-bricked the phone. Phone would boot to a blank screen but still allowed access to download and recovery modes, thankfully.
With help from this awesome forum, and a stock 4.3 flash via ODIN, thanks to enewman17's epic efforts and thread , the phone is back, but now won't recognize the SIM - and baseband version is "unknown" - I suspect I need to now go up to 4.4.2 to get the hw recognized by the sw. Went to ATT and they put a new SIM in but to no avail
CWM recovery is gone, but I can reload that easily enough...
Do I need to just flash the modem, or is the bootloader involved too?
Is there a single flash or .zip that will get the ROM (incl CSC and Modem) up to 4.4.2 in one shot?
I never really wanted to go this deep but here I am so now I'm looking for advice or direction as there are so many directions to look... thanks in advance!
Mismatch in firmware
Digging deeper, using Phone Info *Samsung*, I have noted the following
bootloader version: I747UCUFNJ1
baseband version: <blank>
pda version: I747UCUEMJB
csc version: I747ATTEMJB
skip a bit...
modem version: <blank>
hardware revision: <blank>
mobile operator name: <blank>
mobile network code: <blank>
So it would seem I have a mis-match of versions, where it seems all should be the same..
Would it be safe to flash to MJB following this thread?

Your modem (baseband) appears to have been compromised in the process of downgrading from Kitkat. You could try either of the following solutions...
1) Flash the UCUEMJB modem via custom recovery to return you to complete stock 4.3. You can see the modem file here ....
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23269279319197285
2) Do a complete stock restore to 4.4.2. You can find the stock update zip via the following thread ...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3-att/general/ucuemjb-to-ucufne4-firmware-update-t2808654
If you can reflash the 4.3MJB modem, you can check to see if you can get an OTA update to 4.4.2. Using Option 2 requires you to be on complete stock 4.3 so this may not work if you currently don't have the baseband/modem. I would strongly advise you stick to the custom recovery flashable files for now and avoid Odin. You would, however, need to restore custom recovery via Odin.
Hope this works for you.

So I guess my plan of actions will be
1) re-install custom recovery w CWM to my external SD card as was previous
-do I *need* later version of CWM? Previous one of mine was 6.0.2.3, IIRC, that is what I can easily flash back to the phone
2) install .zip (from https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23269279319197285) via CWM
If that doesn't work, I was interested in the S3Rx ROM vs. a stock 4.4.2 ROM - is there any way to go straight to a custom 4.4.2 ROM or should I get the modem working in 4.3 first?
Lastly, Where can I find a later version of a CW Recovery Touch .tar to flash via ODIN? (third stoopid noob question in this post, I know...)

You aren't the first to have this issue. This is why I am still on NE4 and did not take the OTA to NJ1. The update is pointless anyway, all it does is patch the kernel so towelroot won't work anymore aside from updating the bootloader.
Since your bootloader is NJ1, that is your firmware which cannot be downgraded. If you try, you will brick. You have to work with NJ1 files here only. Sure you can flash older modems, but stick to NJ1. I suggest using ODIN to flash a custom recovery, then use enewman17's NJ1 .zip file in said recovery to reflash all the NJ1 stuff. Then do a complete factory reset. You might need to flash stock recovery to do the hard factory data reset, as I am not sure if it can be done in CWM or TWRP.
In the future, I suggest freezing the update and not upgrading until people on here do it and report how it's working or rather not working in this case.

As far as freezing the updates in the future, yes. I tried to keep the OTA push from happening, apparently not ardently enough :crying:

Hi
Hope you can help. My aim originally was to upgrade from 4.0.3 to Slimkat 4.4.4 but I have never done anything like this before and I have messed it up. I was using this guide http://droidors.com/2014/07/07/upda...android-4-4-4-kitkat-with-slimkat-custom-rom/ but deviated from it when the guide didn't work for me.
I upgraded to 4.0.4 using PC Companion.
I unlocked the bootloader on my Arc S and rooted using Eroot. Then I tried to install a custom recovery from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1345741&page=2 which said I had to go back to 2.3.4. I did this using Emma from Sony Mobile.
After the custom recovery tool installed I loaded the Slimkat files onto the sd card and booted to the recovery mode but got an error when trying to install Slimkat (it said something about the update is for LT18i but my device is "" (which it isn't?!)
Anyway after that didn't work I wanted to just go back to normal 4.0.4. I couldn't get Backup TA working before I unlocked the bootloader so I have lost the DRM keys.
The custom ROMs I have seen all seem to require stock 4.0.4 so I seem to be stuck on 2.3.4.
I am so confused, if anyone can help either with getting me back to a version of 4.0.4 or my original goal of Slimkat that would be much appreciated.
Thank you

You can anytime revert back to 4.0.4 stock rom:
1. download flashtool http://www.flashtool.net/ if you don't have it already.
2. download stock firmware from http://www.4shared.com/rar/cwrJE_jE/Lt18i_41B0587_1254-8596_Generi.html?refurl=d1url
3. Placing firmware in flashtool. Note: only .ftf format files to be placed. If the file is of .rar/.zip then extract it to get .ftf file
Copy .ftf to C:/>flashtool>firmwares
4. Run Flashtool>Click on the flashing button>Select flashmode>Ok
On they very left side you'd see the firmware name and version. In the middle the contents of it and on the very right side some options. Mark them as shown below.
5. Select OK. Now flashtool will prepare files and ask you to connect your phone. Follow the steps.
On devices with no hardware back key, use volume down key while connecting
OR
after that use this to root:
http://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/Andro...Smartphones-2011-and-2012-Xperias/td-p/287857
then you can flash any 4.4.4 rom
