Ok, so i bought a New Nexus 7 2013 with 16gb of storage. Does the storage capacity affect the whole performance of the tablet in anyway? It sucks that it doesnt have a micro sd card slot. I have a 16gb sd card on my phone i was thinking to use it on the Nexus but sadly it doesnt work that way. Im worried coz i know it isnt really 16gb , mostly when they say 16 / 32 / 8 etc , its not the absolute amount so if 16 then i would say the available is only 14gb plus the bloatware (if it has) then then ill say the only user available is 12 or 10? And does the 16gb differ from the 32gb one besides the user available storage? I hope not. Thank you in advance to the one that will answer each of my questions informatively. Cheers.
P.S We are talking about Asus Google Nexus 7 2013 (2nd Gen) 16gb WiFi Only.

Its an average 11.5 gb free
The 16gb and 32gb have the exact same hardware
When your storage gets full your I/O speeds do slow down i try to have at least 2gb free at anyone time.

Have you experienced that type of situation?
Other than storage, 16 and 32 GB model are identical. The operating system takes around 5gb I think. As far as bloat,... Its a nexus, it has no bloat. Only Google and aosp apps. No SD slot because Google is trying to push us to cloud storage. You can always use a USB otg and thumb drive. I also saw a micro SD card reader that plugs right in to the micro USB port.
Is anyone having trouble deciding on 16 vs 32GB configurations? Mainly because of the difference in RAM, with 16/2GB and 32/3GB.
Is there a difference in ROM building based on these versions? Or will all ROMs work the same on both versions? Do any other phones have the same thing, having different amounts of RAM? Not sure if I need the extra GB, but I'll have to see what ROMs support first...
This is all hardware. How in any way would it affect software? It just lets people who need more space for music (like me) to have more internal storage and 1 gb more of RAM which is also really good for people who want speed. For those who just use their phone once in a while, they can buy the 16 GB 2 GB RAM one. It all depends on preference.
32gb
I would recommend 32 gb as all the media files will be bigger due to the resolution. With LG's software there will only be 10~11gb of space left for the user

I agree with you about the 32GB model but not for media files. They can go on external SD card right? 128GB on top of 16 will still do for media files.

Oh right, the g3 will have an sd slot. I'd still go for the 32gb for apps (making the files install on the ext sd is a hassle and the apps won't run when you take the sd out)
Wanting to push this thread because i have the same question... I want to see some roms on the g3. But there is still no answer if there is a difference between 2gb and 3gb in building roms.
No problem here...32gb all the way.
Why would anyone choose 16/2 when you have the option of more storage and ram...makes zero sense.
Always buy the better option!

3gb version all the way!
What is the model number for the 3gb version and where can one buy it.....?
I'm okay with 16 GB of RAM. It wasn't an issue on my Nexus 4 and it isn't an issue on my Nexus 5 and 7. Besides, with an SD card slot, storage isn't an issue.
However, given the option between 2 GB of RAM and 3 GB, I'd go with 3. Always go with more RAM when you have the option.
Problem is that I am in the UK, so only 16gb coming as far as we know. That means I need to compromise on my storage. It will be a hassle to often move my camera pic and videos to SD card, and Whatsapp doesnt allow it.
I dont know which other data intensive apps will also have issues if i try to move to SD card....bit of a minefield.
Any tips would help ?
Shall I just forget about the 16gb version and get a different phone (I do like the look of this one however) ?
Hi all just want to know how much space left available can be used if i take LG G3 16GB ? Thanks

I would guess 10 to 11 gb of space for the apps and data that cannot be moved to the SD card. For me, this will consist of a few apps (metro newspaper eats loads of space !) , and lots of camera pics and videos (high resolution) and loads of whatsapp pics and videos (whatsapp stuff cannot be moved to sd either)
......that is why i am avoiding getting the 16gb version - LG are such s**theads for not selling the 32gb in the UK...makes me so angry !
I sent an email to LG UK support and as expected, they could only tell me that at present the 32gb is not announced for the UK, nor do they know if it will be or when, blah blah blah !!
I already preordered the 32GB version because
- apps getting bigger like GTA
- Offline Navigation like Navigon need alot of space
- Taking pictures and Videos
at least LG sells the 32GB here. HTC won't sell the 32gb M8 and S5 also not available as 32 GB
perfect would be a G3 with 64 GB internal memory

Thanks wyase9 for your info , i really agree with your reason about avoiding geeting the 16gb, but guess i have the same problem like you in my country (indonesia) only get the 16gb version and still don;t know when the 32 Gb will come. My friend in office also said the same like your reason they suggest i wait for the 32gb version ( Hopefully July 2014 will come )

Do they send to US?
i guess so. Amazon.com will ship to Germany, so i guess Amazon.de will ship to USA. The only question would be, if the european model has the needed frequencies for the US and all the carriers
what about ROMs?
Is it that same custom ROM can work on both variants? Only difference i see is an extra gig of RAM. But needed a confirmation if anyone knows
I found a couple 32gb 4gb ram versions but they are the same price as the 64gb version. Are they selling out or what?
32gb version wasn't offered in

I wanted to get the 32gig but at the same price I just went with the 64gig. I have no regrets and loving it so far and the space. It's nice to be able to have fun with my phone again.

4 GB of RAM is the stuff of dreams. the 2GB model has some RAM problems since the Asus stuff takes up quite a bit.
Of course it's better to have more RAM, but it is misleading to say 2GB model has a problem. 2GB model has no problem with RAM for most use cases. It usually starts up with over 1GB free which Android gradually fills to the point where 400 or 500MB are free, but that is how Android works (it's all cached stuff that can be freed as necessary, not active programs). I have never reached the point in normal use where there has been any slow down or problem due to lack of RAM. Maybe if you are a hardcore mobile gamer and like to have a number of games on the go at the same time and switch between them then you need 4GB, but for pretty much anyone else...
Has it been confirmed anywhere how much out of the box storage we will have with either the 32gb or 128gb Pixels? My 32 gb 6p had 25gb out of box. Im trying to find out of it will be less than 25gb since the Pixel will have the dual partitions for faster/background updates. I did manage to find a screenshot somebody took from the Android Police hands on demo and it shows 29gb available out of box. I will attach the screenshot. Im not sure if that will be same for the retail phones or if these are only demo phones so they might not take up as much space.
So there's 22gb's available, since 8gb of the 30 is already used up.
I got the 'quite dark, XL, 32GB'... I am wondering now if I should have upgraded to the 128 GB. Pictures/Video in the cloud will be great, but I am wondering how much space the VR apps will consume.
I have both 32 and 128 silver on preorder . Trying to figure out if 32 will be enough before cancelling one of them

32GB is pretty lean for a device without an SD card. I don't need the room for pics or music anymore but although I swear this phone won't need rooted, if I DO go there, I'll need room for ROMs & backups.

On my s7 they're around 500mb to 1gb, definitely not small. You'll run out of space quickly.
32gb on devices is not enough nowadays..todays standard is 64gb and up
I'm very worried with my 32gb not being enough. I needed the 5.5 inch screen but I don't know if the storage is more of a factor

I think it's more than enough if you take advantage of the 'Free Unlimited Google Photo's Backup' feature
From what I've heard/seen, it doesn't seem to be much different than the 6P, so hopefully it's the same. I personally don't mind as I still have 14GB free on my 6P. I don't use VR apps or games, so most of the space is for apps, pictures/videos, music.

Total storage on UK model is 29.7Gb minus 5.39Gb for the system so you will have 24.31Gb to play with. I've attached a Screenshot of mine. Xl model BTW if that makes any difference.
I have note 5 64 GB. I have few games yet I don't really play them so I can do without them. I have a lot of music on it cuz you know that's why I bought 64gb phone. I don't shoot a lot of 4k vdos. I do take a lot of pics. Back them up on Google photos important ones on PC.
And now I have 30 GB free. Do you think without few games and lesser music I can live with 32gb phone? Looking to get pixel xl 32gb...

Having the same dialema coming from LG G4 with 32gb on board and 32gb as card.
that is totally for you to answer.
I bought the 32gb XL. I came from a 64gb N6 and used around 26.5gb on that phone. But alot of it was pictures for me and since I use Google Photos for my backup, they didn't transfer to my new phone.
So my advice for you is to look at how much space your pictures take up and subtract that from how much you're using now.
BTW, the 32gb has 29.70gb available storage.
