I've been using the fingerprint sensor on the 5X to unlock the device since I received it on the 21st. Today, my phone suddenly stopped recognizing my fingerprint. I went through the following steps:
Restarted the device.
Deleted my fingerprint and tried readding it, but it wouldn't recognize it there either.
I tried adding all my other fingers with no luck.
Had my girlfriend try her fingerprint (which she added yesterday).
Restarted the device again.
I'm hesitant to reformat as I'm happy with my device setup and I'm hoping there's a less destructive fix. Am I the only one with this issue? Any suggestions?
It's also worth noting I've made sure the OS is as up-to-date as possible.
Are you using a screen off app? I was using Screen Off and Lock through a gesture on Nova Launcher and because of it the finger print scanner didn't work. Seems to be a problem on any of those apps.

Good suggestion bsinc1962, screen off and lock / other lock screen app, causing smart lock (trustee face ) not working
in nexus 5.

Its only happened today, but it's happened twice now. I unlocked the device, pulled the lock screen circle to the camera icon on the left as I normally do, proceeded to rotate the device into landscape orientation, and the camera app sort of went small and into the top left corner. Then it said camera is not responding, so I pressed home, opened up the multitasking menu and closed camera. Tried to enter camera again and it said cannot connect to camera. Its very odd. Tried force stopping it from running apps but still won't work. The only way I've found to get around it is to reboot which is a pain in the arse. Any suggestions?

I had this problem before. Happened when I switched back and forth between camcorder and camera mode. Rebooting seemed to solve it.
But happened only once so far. I guess it doesn't nag me that much.
Hi all.
I have p-601 which is rooted and I am using Nova Launcher. It works fine except of some lag from time to time.
I use the S-pen for everything and with all applications.
Recently I started to notice strange bizarre behavior of the screen with the S-Pen when I capture a screen shot with the S-Pen (Screen Write) some pictures specially with the png format. The screen flashes and displays a horizontal lines then the screen turns off. Then I close everything and reboot the tab and try again to screen write and so on.
This happens from time to time not with every screen write.
Any recommendations or advice?
Best Regards.
I'd do a hard reset in recovery if it bothers you that bad. And if you have any mods running try it with out those installed a few times and do some testing to see what is causing the issue. But start fresh, stock and if it still happens its your device. Either return it, if u can't return it sell it, or just deal with it and wait for an update.

Hello everyone, I bought my lenovo p2 last year and it was all working fine but for the past couple of months I have been facing some problems with the fingerprint gesture. Whenever I use it, it works fine for a few minutes but gets unresponsive after a while and when I touch it, it doesn't respond and sometimes I have the drag to the right to get it working. Is there any way that I can fix this? Thanks.
Facing the same problem but I think it can be made right to some extend by deleting the fingerprints and re-registrating would fix it
Mine is the same case too. My fingers leave marks on the scanner making it think that i didn't lift my finger up. Had to wipe it off everytime before using. Started happening aftet leaving stock rom.
Does anybody has problem with proximity sensor in Android Pie?
For me it stops work after half day and only reboot helps. In Oreo I haven't this problem
I've gotten this problem during calls
Update: proximity sensor stop work in phone app. With other apps its works without problem.
Interesting. Has worked for me but I've only made a handful of calls since going to Pie.

new update: looks like I found why proximity stops work. I use Cube Call Recorder and this app after a couple calls "kills" proximity sensor in dialer app. I removed Cube and now everything ok.
I'm having this problem too, but I don't have any sort of call recording app. Randomly it just refuses to put the screen to sleep when I'm on a call. Really frustrating.
Same issue here, since few days I have notice that the proximity sensor during phone calls will not turn off the screen, only reboot restores sensor functionality that's annoying, also I have this pixel 2xl for 2weeks this is an irritating issue. Hope help comes soon.
P.S
No new software has been installed on this phone that I have not used on my previous phones essential ph1 and Samsung Galaxy S8.
Cheers.
Couldn't find this thread earlier.
I'm also facing the same issue now. Android Pie.
Anyone found a Solution?
#5 was my problem
So just venting, but new Tmobile s4 wont register the Iris scan. It looks very badly out of focus and never adjusts to the eyes. Any others having this issue?
Same for me! But it registered my eyes before I put on a milky display protector with cutouts for the 3-4 sensors on top.
Don't know if this is the trigger for my problems, but I reseted my biometrics yesterday and can't get iris working again...
Any way to clear data for the biometrics app?
Works fine for me.

Been having this issue too... Just got my device today and Iris scanning doesn't work... Is the preview supposed to be blurry when trying to register? I haven't applied a screen protector or anything and nothing is installed on mine as far as I'm concerned
