Is there a way devs can port the stock rooted s3 rom to the s2? I would love to see some of the apps on my s2 that the s3 has.

I'm running the rooms now but neither are direct ports nor have all the apps and features

You can be sure work on a ported of the GS3 rom is going on somewhere, by someone. Give the devs some time.
Even though both phones are GalxayS devices they are quite different from one another so it will take some time to get things working.

Hello everyone
I recently purchased the samsung smart dock for my Note 2 i317 and Instantly I had an issue with the HDMI out. On stock and other touchwiz roms it works perfectly fine but when I try to use roms that I actually want to use which are all AOSP the HDMI out doesn't work at all. So is it possible at all to enable HDMI out on AOSP?
Thanks in advance.
I was actually curious to know if this dock worked with various roms such as jedi, etc... as well.

I am currently using the smart dock with my AT&T note 2 and the HDMI works fine for both audio and video
I think he meant rom like cynogen and pa. I am also looking for an answer to it too.

Sorry total mental lapse. What I meant to say is I'm currently using the smart dock with my at&t note ii rooted with NOTEourius Prime ROM and it works fine.
Sorry about that.

I was having this issue with Jedi rom, switch to another rom and hdmi worked fine. Think its going to be a issue in some of the roms. Maybe something was left out during the build.
i know that they finally have mhl working on many of the current aosp roms for the gs3. is mhl working on any aosp roms for the note 2?
i'm dying to use an aosp rom, but i use mhl daily in my car with my appradio so i haven't been able 2 since moving to the note 2

Which SGS3 ASOS-based roms support MHL/HDMI ?
Hey i was just wondering if the new 4.2.2 touchwiz will be ported to the s3 from the s4? Because i know im not the only one hoping for the new touchwiz to come to the s3.
I would think it's the same as porting the s3 international firmware to the us variant. Different hardware, different set up. It'll probably brick your phone.

Oh wow really? So its not the same as like Sense on the HTCs when they were really only htcs getting newer sense roms?
Its not just the launcher its boot loaders, framework, kernels, and its all built for an 8 core exynos processer and we have a dual core Qualcomm

It'll never happen unless Samsung releases Touchwiz source code to work with. If they would to release it I would be very possible for that to happen, even have TW on non Samsung devices..
HTC Sense is just a skin to be honest (with the exception of the new Blink feed on HTC ONE) with a couple of fancy widgets that rely on that skin.
Sense was partially ported to a couple devices back in the day due to the fact that it is almost just a skin. (Any one can feel free to correct me on this one )
Galaxy S4's Touchwiz, not only is it a skin but the gestures and fancy thing the S4 has rely heavily on TW framework.
With out that TW source to be released we're out of luck

I sure hope att/sammy didn't build all that for the exynos octa. Would brick there qualcom quad cpu phones.

Only a small portion of the S4s are gonna be running the exynos processor. Many will have the next iteration of Qualcomm's snapdragon. It will still be nearly if not entirely impossible to get the S4's firmware running on the S3. We already have 4.2.2 on the S3 though. Just gotta get on a custom ROM.

He asked if it will be ported... so it would not brick your phone if you tried, it just simply wouldnt work. Unless you try to flash unmodified s4 software on your s3

Might be stupid question but if we don't have source code for Touchwiz, how do we have TouchWiz custom roms..?

Custom TW Rom are built using the original TW firmware, with features added to them.
IF we had TW source code, we'd have the features and apps like TW camera on AOSP based roms....
I am need of help to use the Samsung MHL Dongle with aokp (task's specifically). I would really like to use this dongle and get hdmi output but it doesn't appear to work on this Rom.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

i've only really had success with the MHL connector on the stock firmware. it's sketchy at best on any aosp-based ROMs. you could try a stock-based ROM in the Android Dev section
