Hi guys is the OS update to marshmallow going to help with battery life? Especially SOT? If so by how much do you believe?
Sent from my LG-H815 using Tapatalk
You will get 27 hours screen on time and 7 weeks of stand by time. Marshmallow will also solve world peace.
When you wake up from fantasy land you still have to debloat and use better battery stats to find what is draining your battery. Amazing that you create so many threads for the same issue but don't take the advice given.

I don't understand how people have bad battery life. I get 20-26hrs up time with 4 hra screen time, on average.

Standby time doesnt mean much. Its the SOT that matters. A phone is no good if the screen cant turn on because your battery is dead after 2 hours of screen on time. I wonder what kind of impact marshmallow is going to have. I doubt it would solve the problem
Sent from my LG-H815 using Tapatalk
I wonder why you refuse to learn what is truly causing the battery drain? Most of us get 3 to 4 hours and are quite happy. You just expect the answer to magically appear

Just migrate to Genisys ROM. The dev has done an incredible job on optimization. I was dealing with 2 hours SoT and with Genisys + mods by myself I got almost hours (in general 3~5 hours depending on brightness and used apps).
Indeed you have to listen to advice given by @tdevaughn there's no point for members to create multiple threads deprecating SoT if you don't even handle the problem.

I am busy downloading it now as I have heard that the battery is good on it. I am keen to try it out. How long does it take on the G4 to stabilise after wiping and flashing a new ROM? I have only just started to do the wiping etc but I have had the phone since July I have the international H815P variant if that makes any difference.
Freshly installed with few apps I got 5+ hours. Now with 30+ apps and 'normal' use it's about 3-4 hours SoT. Still good.
I'd say it takes a few days for overall system to have stable stats.

The evil here
To give a more serious reply from what I have read about Marshmallow they have put a lot of work into "Doze" which should boost standby time a fair bit at least for those that don't use apps like Greenify. So indirectly you might get a boost in SOT as you wont lose as much battery while the phone is idle. For people that are on their phone a lot I would expect no real improvement on screen on time. You can only so much with smart software when ultimately its a big power hungry device with only an okay sized battery.

Probably it will improve standby battery time, with "doze", and few more
IMHO G4 battery life is good right now
Hey everyone
I can confirm better standby time. 4% battery drain in 12 hours, which was under 5.1 ~10%. Can't say anything about Sot, because I have Marshmallow installed since yesterday. Good luck with gathering information

I want mocking the OP. I was just really saying I don't understand how people only have 1-2 hrs screen time. Plus at the time the OP made this thread there was already a dedicated thread to battery life. If you look at the Op's posts about 80% of them are about battery life.

Very true this is extremely easy to test and there is no need to come here asking.
Doesn't seem to be draining any quicker than previous. Keeping it at 30% cause with franco.kernel auto brightness causes the phone to lag on unlock.
Seems like auto/30% is the same for the most part, at least I think so.

Is without a doubt, the best rom I've tried yet. Just wanted to give props and show off a screenshot. The only thing I've found wrong with this rom is that is so damn perfect, I feel like there's nothing more I can do to it to tweak it or improve it
Well, the only thing I would like to figure out is how to make a live wallpaper based on the screenshot below with wiggly Cthulhu tentacles! RAWR!
Well I can't post images so included a file for those interested in seeing it in action but haven't flashed this goodness yet.
It is a wonderful rom.
As far as live wallpapers, you'll need to know some coding. Google hak5 live wallpaper. They have a decent tutorial. I'm on my phone right now and can't seem to find it
Good luck

Do you even use your phone? Can you post a screenshot of your battery usage? I'm a little skeptical about that.
As for the ROM, I took a look at the changelog and most the problems I was having seem to have been fixed! Going to try beta 3 as soon as my phone is done charging.

28, but close guess. How was anything i typed egotistical? I require proof before I believe outlandish claims, probably why I'm an atheist...
edit: proof was provided but it was tainted, thus i see no reason to retract my statement.
Also having excellent battery life. Almost always connected to wifi as well.

Vader and the clown from Stephen kings "It" appearing and fading into darkness and wiggly cthulhu tentacles!
Stay tuned!

They all drain pretty quickly
I think it's less about the right rom/kernel and more about using something like juicedefender or go power management from the play store. They help automatically switch stuff on and off that eats battery quickly.

In my experience definitely not true. At work I have a hit and miss signal. If I leave 3g active the battery drains really fast while the phone is sleeping. Like 10% in an hour sometimes. Turning on juice defender which for me is just disabling data while the screen is off. The battery will not move in the same amount of time. Maybe 1% will be gone.
I believe it is because the phone keeps trying to grab a signal in the weak areas.
Whatever it is there is for sure a huge difference. I have tested many times. Can hardly get through the day sometimes if I leave data on.
The thing I hate about it is a lot of the time the phone takes forever to reconnect so I have to wait every time I wake it.
i use my phone a lot for web, music, calls, messaging, social app, and the best kernel i used and put in my rom (but for maguro) is Trinity Kernel 1344 cpu / 384 gpu Stable35. i advice this kernel . for the rom a stock rooted, busyboxed, deodexed, zipaligned and with useful build.prop tweak for battery life. this has been my philosophy for my rom and i'm very satisfied

I apologize for being such a noob, but I have to ask. I just flashed the AOSP Jellybean Android 4.1.1 from sbrissen and since I cannot post in development yet, this was the only place I thought I might be able to get an answer. The battery life hasn't been very good, possibly need a new battery, but I was wondering if anyone knows if the Kobridge tweaks would work on this ROM. Any help would be super appreciated.

I found Facebook to be battery hungry whether on LG's rom or CM. It refused to hibernate on greenify's command. The solution that worked for me was deleting Facebook.
And also monitoring apps behavior in general, wakelocks, etc. I put yahoo weather on a few days ago and the app racked up like 500 wakelocks in the first few hours.
I improved my battery life by restoring my DD, Stock 4.1.2 Nandroid. I can't see getting this much standby/screen combined time on our official KK, yet. Plus, I had issues with lagging and bugs (such as constant playback errors with Google Play All access). The only thing I miss is the greatly improved Stereo Bluetooth quality in 4.4 vs v the too-bad-to-listen on 4.1. If anyone could tell me if/how to edit those libs/files I'd not even care if I ever get stable KK on the e980. Anyway, organic battery usage.
I'm gonna let it run till dead and predict 72+hours with 4+ screen.
Sent from my LG E980 via Tapatalk Pro (and stupid-fast LTE)
I was also getting severe Android OS battery drain for the last few days. I lost 60% battery life in just 3 hours!
I fixed it by "recalibrating" (or at least I saw it called this elsewhere on the internet) my battery. I simply used my phone until the battery died and my phone automatically shut off. Then I kept trying to power on the phone until it stopped attempting to turn on (this just makes sure your battery is truly dead; i doubt this does anything useful though). Then with the phone off, I charged until 100%, then continued charging another 2 hours (to make sure battery is really full). Then I turned on the phone. After this, I am getting excellent battery life and Android OS is using far less battery.

EDIT: No longer true. The issue eventually came back and has been plaguing me since.
