G3 or G4? -because of possible touchscreen issues? - G4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a G3 right now. I scored a BRAND NEW G4 off ebay and it's on it's way. I can live without unlocked bootloader, for now.. but I'm terrified about the possible screen issues. Should I just keep my G3, which is working great, and just turn right around and sell the G4? What do you guys think? Is it worth the risk?
Right now my G3 is the ATT D810 version and the G4 I bought is the ATT H810. I ordered a tempered glass screen protector, case, QC 2.0 chargers.... not sure what to do.

I have been using mine for a month and don't have any issues, I think you should go ahead and use it

[Q] Lg g2, or other options ?

Hi guys, I am new here.
I'm looking to buy a new high end smartphone and the budget is pretty low..
I was thinking about buying a used G2 on ebay from Sprint ( Prices are like from 220 to 250 !! o: )
Can I buy the Lg g2 from Sprint and have it unlocked with this thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2655133
Is it going to be easy ? Will I be able to connect it to MetroPCS ?
Thanks
PS: Do you have any other suggestions ?

As much as I like the G2 it is fairly locked down and unless you are directly on sprint itself (not an mvno) I wouldnt buy it. I think maybe the new One Plus One or the Nexus is a better option for those kinds of things. Others may argue with me but if you arent locked in a contract then a more global phone might be a better idea.

I brought this phone last week from Genco. It was a opened box resealed item for $230 taxed and shipped. I received it on Monday. This phone look new to me. I was lucky to get this one and only on their store website.I'm with T-Mobile $30 prepaid and I trying to switch to Ting. They checked and I was told that my phone imei was cleaned, but couldn't activate it. This model is too new. So I did the build.pro mod and running stock 4.4.2. It was working fine for me on T-Mobile SIM. And then yesterday I decided to try CloudyPro II 2.1.
I chose the LS-980 Variants, surprising my phone work out of the box with my T-Mobile SIM.
Check my screenshot. It have the METROPCS LTE APN built -in. Maybe you can try this ROM when you get it. Love this phone after 3 years with NOTE 1

Oh cool thank you so much !
So, I just flash the ROM and the SIM will work ?
Im pretty sure a lot of ppl are going to be seeling their G2 once the G3 comes out, i would wait for this opportunity since phones will usually drop their price temporarily to bring in the new stuff.
LG G2 is the best quality/price

You can use the following thread to GSM unlock it:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2775238
I have bought a brand new sealed Sprint LG G2 from CL for $200 :fingers-crossed: and have it unlocked using the above thread and am currently running it on T-Mobile.
One thing:
->You must root the phone using ioroot2.5
->You must install the autorec which will install TWRP 2.7.x[The TWRP app from Google Play won't work on Sprint G2]
->Then you will install the ROM.
In case you need any help with any of the steps, you can ask me b/c I have installed this ROM just tonight
Thanks ! I was able to find the At&t G2 unlocked on ebay for $250 !

i honestly regret my purchase of the sprint g2. it is so complicated to do any moding with the d801 is better in my opinion.

Bricked d851 question

So after 6 years of messing with phones I finally bricked my g3, I went to T-Mobile and they are warrantying it out and sending me a replacement.
My question is, will it be able new phone in a box like when I bought my original one, or will it be some refurbished one in a bag with no back, battery and such?

I'm pretty sure it will be a new phone just like the day you got it and not a used one. I never heard of warranty where they replace your phone with a used one. I could be wrong though.

How did it come and what did it come with?
The replacement comes w/ packaging that you will use to return your old phone in. The new phone comes without a back cover, battery, or SIM card. You will need to reuse those from your old device. My replacement came w/ 20b installed (received about 3 weeks ago), and since T-Mobile isn't pushing 20e via OTA, I updated using the LG Mobile Support Tool.

My phone came with 10r 4 days ago, and there is no way in hell I am upgrading. However, my other phone I was able to get to 20e via OTA and did not have to use the mobile support tool.

Swap motherboards?

I have a D850 with a cracked screen, if I bought a different make of the LG G3 would my motherboard fit in it?
Also is the "ESN" on my motherboard? Could I buy a phone with a bad ESN and put in my motherboard (with a clean ESN) and be good to go?
Thanks in advance
Yes, you will be good to go if you bought a phone with a bad ESN and swapped it with your motherboard. As far as a different model of G3, I'm not sure. I would say stick with the T-Mobile version. I know on the Galaxy S3, the Verizon version is different than the AT&T version as far as the frame goes. The LCD and screens are the same. Good luck.

Yeah, took 10 minutes, its a really easy fix, compared to some phone's

Thinking of buying a TWN H815 in the UK... I have a few questions?

Hey folks
Im wanting to buy a new LG G4 and theres a gorgeous BNIB Unlocked Pearl White one in my local 2nd hand store... but its a TWN H815...
I have read around XDA and do know that these TWNs work here, but how is GSM / 2G radio... or will I always have to use 4G?.
Also, as itll be my daily driver, I wont be rooting and I wont be unlocking the bootloader, so will I get OTAs or will have to flash kdz through LGUP,.. which isnt an issue.. just curious?.
Are there any reported motherboard failiures on the TWN versions.. or any Serial nos I should note?
Any help would be great
Thanks all.
Don't buy one. This model runs really hot, has poor battery life and is slower than my older LG G2. Buy a G3, G5 or another non-Samsung brand phone imo.
Without rooting it's not a good device, with rooting - this phone is still far from the G2 as a daily driver.
if you into it. then try getting any from 6XX serial up.. its no guarantee but less likely to happen.

Korean Fold (SM-F907N) in Canada?

I guess I should have asked this before, lol, but I just purchased a Korean Fold mode SM-F907N which is supposedly unlocked. It's supposed to be the 5G version but we don't quite have that here so I am not worried about that. I am just wondering if regular LTE etc will work?
I purchased the Canadian Fold when it first came out and ended up returning it within the 2 week period as I was super paranoid about its longevity. However, I've been kicking myself since then. Purchased the Z Flip a couple weeks ago and it just wasn't cutting it...not the same.
Called around at Samsung store to see if I could buy the Fold again but I was told that they are not longer going to be getting them, even though Samsung online told me that I should be able to get them locally. Anyway, got frustrated and ordered a Korean version on eBay and just want to make sure everything will be good as I guess I still have likely a few hours to cancel the order if need be.
Thanks everyone.
It works perfectly in Vietnam with the LTE so it should be ok in your country!!! Mine is brand new and unlocked!!!

Great, thanks very much for your response. I just wasn't sure about what bands my carriers use in Canada vs what they use in Korea etc. But glad to see it shouldn't be an issue. Just waiting for it to be shipped now!
Glad I'm not the only one, sold my SM-F900F and went back to my Note 10 Plus for Android 10 and miss the Fold ever since. Just got a Canadian SM-F900W variant and will be using it daily again! I'm sure the SM-F907N variant will have all the bands for use in Canada, but LTE icon will be shown as 4G.

I find it strange that Sam Mobile doesn't have any Canadian firmwares for the fold.

I have been using SM-F907N since November 2019. Samsung Pay does not work in the US. It looks for a SIM from Korea! I use Android pay instead. I got security updates and got Android 10 a few days ago. Everything else seems to work OK. The screen has been doing fine although there are some fine scratches and the "fold". They don't interfere with viewing. The max screen resolution could be higher. I hope this helps.
