Hello all, I've done a lot of search on Google about my problem but find nothing so I hope someone can help me.
I own a rooted S3 (Bell i747). I installed some stock ROM using ODIN. As I didnt find any ODIN compatible ROM, I tryed to install CM12.1 using the following procedure:
1.You have to download the CM 12.1 custom ROM file on your computer; also, you have to download Google Apps package – you can get the Android 5.1 Lollipop update from here while the Google Apps package can be downloaded from this page.
2.Save both files on your computer but don’t unzip the packages.
3.Connect your AT&T Galaxy S3 with your PC by plugging in the USB cable and then transfer the downloaded files on your phone’s SD card.
4.Remove the USB cord and power off your phone before doing anything else.
5.Good; now enter recovery mode on your Android device.
6.Remember to make a hard reset and to clear cache before loading the ROM – select “wipe data factory reset” followed by “wipe cache partition” and by “wipe dalvik cache”.
7.Then, from main menu of recovery select “install zip from SD card” and “choose zip from SD card”.
8.Pick the Android 5.1 Lollipop firmware file and install CM12.1 ROM on your AT&T Samsung Galaxy S3.
9.Reapply the last step and flash Google Apps package.
10.When done, select “reboot system now” and enjoy.
During the process, the system verify the package and I had the following error
E:FAILED TO VERIFY CHOLE-FILE SIGNATURE
E: SIGNATURE VERIFICATION FAIL
I downloaded the ROM direct on the Cyanogen site (//download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=d2att)
What's wrong
TKS!
You must flash CM12.1 from a custom recovery, not stock recovery.
Before flashing anything else, let us know the bootloader version currently loaded on the phone. This is important to know as flashing the wrong file can brick the phone.

I got no errors and I've lost my last sd-card.(look at here)
I've got a german SOC Device with E-plus SIM-Card and 16GB SD-card.
I'm sure It's not possible to install CM9 on my device because of unfixed bugs, so I ask you to upload a advanced nandroid backup(with backuped system,data,boot,devtree,recovery,cache,sd-ext and pds) of your CM9 SOC or redlens defy.(don't forget to delete data ... and to restore it afterwards).
I'm tired of asking and asking in this forum. With this way I and many others will be able to install Cyanogenmod 9 via the backup, even if we are unable to install it on the common way and the Community won't have to spend us too much time.
PLEASE

I understand your concern; if I have had red lens I must have uploaded the nandroid.
However, I have a few workarounds for you:
1. Try some different build of the ICS (Try Epsylon's or Quarx's);
2. May be the downloaded ROM file have some issue with it;
3. This time while downloading do not use any download manager;
4. For the dead SD card you try connecting the SD card to your computer using some card reader and use "SD Formatter" software to format it. Just Google the name.
Hope the above information helps!!
Ok, I understand, but what do you mean with download Manager

Download manager is like a tool like Internet Download Manager(IDM) which makes download faster. However, it actually downloadsfiles in packets(parts) at last it combines all parts into one. Insome rare cases this combining makes the file corrupt.
Hope this helps!!
Ok so here is what I have done so far:
1.) I rooted via this method:
Step 1: Download Odin v3.07 and CF root (for non-AT&T variants, find the root file for your phone and plug that in for this CF root link. The rest of this guide should work for you). After you do that, right-click and extract the files to somewhere easily accessible (like your desktop).
Step 2: Go to Settings>Developer Options>turn developer options on>turn on USB debugging
Step 3: Make sure your phone is not connected to the computer at this point. Open up Odin, select PDA, navigate to CF-Auto-Root-....tar.md5
Step 4: Put your phone in download mode (turn off phone, then hold VolDown+Home+Power to boot - if it asks you to press a button to continue, press the listed button (in this case volume up)
Step 5: USB connect your phone to your computer and in Odin make sure Repartition is not checked. Leave everything else alone. Click the Start button and wait for your phone to reboot twice.
2.) installed goomanager and ran the script that installs twrp for you and ran a recovery
3.) booted into twrp, cleared cache/d-something cache, did factory reset, and the system reset (forgot the exact name)
4.) tried to install cleanrom (had it on my internal SD card) and got the "error flashing zip" line
I've looked around reading everyone's solutions and it's come down to
a.) i need to reinstall/redownload and try again. Thing is, idk how to remove all this crap (my backup was created after doing the twrp stuff) so that I can reinstall
b.) twrp is the issue and i need to use CWM. again, not sure how to remove twrp before installing CWM and the guides that I've come across to install CWM aren't simple enough for me (im new to this)
Any insight would be great. I've been loading back into my backup trying to start over and I'm afraid if I keep messing around I will brick my phone which is why I have come to you guys. Trust me I've been looking stuff up for hours and I still can't seem to figure it out
I would do that, but it's just me.
-I would boot in recovery , wipe cache, dalvik, factory reset, and system.
-Boot in Download mode, flash the appropriate stock rom.
-Let it boot in stock rom.
What i do to root and install twrp.
- I boot in download I run cf-Autoroot through odin, then let it boot
- I boot in downaload again and run twrp through odin again let reboot (you need the correct twrp file to flash with odin).
You now have a freshly rooted and clean install of everything. Check Md5 or redownload CleanRom.
When i install cleanrom i reboot in recovery,I wipe cache, dalvik, factory reset and system, then i install the rom and reboot to system, i never had issues doing everything this way. I believe its the correct and clean way to do.
I have searched for solutions/guides about 9 hours now and yet I am not sure how to proceed. My problem is following:
I'm attempting to install CM 10.1 + Gapps in Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 GT-i8160 as instructed here [ROM][4.2.2][TeamCanjica] CyanogenMod 10.1.
Details:
Phone: Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 GT-i8160
Firmware: GT-I8160 NEE I8160XXMG2 (Nordic)
OS: Android JB 4.1.2
I have succesfully rooted the phone (e.g. Superuser and Titanium backup running on the phone) by these steps [GUIDE] Root Your Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 GT-I8160 [GB and JB].
Steps (Jelly Bean with Stock Kernel):
First, Put the SuperSU Flashable Zip to your SD Card.
Boot into Recovery Mode (Volume Up + Home + Power)
Flash the CWM from stock recovery.
Flash the SuperSU Flashable Zip from CWM recovery.
Wait.
Choose "Reboot System Now"
Tadaa, now you have a rooted phone.

Here is a list of things what I have done:
- Downloaded CWM 6 by Shaaan from http://d-h.st/oZD
- Moved the zip file to external SD card via USB cable
- Downloaded SuperSU-v1.86
- Moved SuperSU-v1.86 zip file to external SD card via USB cable
- Turned phone power off
- Turned on Android recovery mode by pressing simultaneously volume up button, home button and power button
- In Android recovery mode I chose option "install zip file from SD card"
- Installed SuperSU-v1.86 from zip file (using Android recovery mode)
- Installed CWM 6 by Shaaan (using Android recovery mode)
After I finished installing CWM 6 it switched from Android recovery mode to CWM automatically.
- I chose option "reboot now" (using CWM 6)
My phone booted normally, SuperSU 1.86 was installed and I was able to run it. I also tested to run Titanium backup to ensure that my phone is rooted.
At this stage I turned power off from phone and entered again back to Android recovery mode. Since CWM 6 by Shaaan is temporary I had to install it again from zip file. When I am using CWM and choose option "install zip file from SD card" it shows up the following error message:
E: can’t mount /sd card
I tried to format external SD card using Windows quick format. I set the file system to FAT32 and block size 4096. Then I copied CWM zip file back to external SD card, run it and tried to choose option "install zip file from SD card" again but I still received the same error as described above.
So my phone should be rooted at this stage but I'm not sure how I should proceed. One possible solution is attempt to install CM 10.1 + Gapps using Android recovery mode. I haven't tried out this yet because I'd not rather see my phone get bricked.
My questions are listed below:
1. Am I missing something, should I install something in other way?
2. Would it be safe to attempt install CM 10.1 + Gapps using Android recovery mode?
3. Should I perform factory reset and dalvik wipe before trying to install CM 10.1 + Gapps in Android recovery mode?
4. Is it necessary to use CWM? Should I use some other version of it?
4. Yes it is.
Try Reflash official firmware, use temp cwm 6 again and see.

2: it's "safe" as it will fail before it starts replacing your OS with one that "Android system recovery (3e)" will accept :silly:
3: before or after is generally the same (when it's not, do it first) as long as you do it and wiping data+cache includes dalvik as it's either all in cache or split between the two
Maybe try putting the zips in the USB storage then select in CWM "install from storage">"internal sdcard" (the last option)...
LAYMAN'S GUIDE TO INSTALLING CM11 KITKAT FIRMWARE ON THE OUYA
Download the zip file in this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fYwZ_l31-G8 youtube video description, follow this guide or follow my directions taken from his guide and made slightly different, all thanks go to the original creator without him i could not write this, i have done as i and others wished to know how to install cynogenmod CM11 firmware kitkat software on their ouya console.
STEP 1. This i cannot really guide you on in depth, you must have already installed clockworkmod recovery 6.0.3.2 if you do not have it you cannot do this firmware flash, you can download and use a tool called ouya oneclickrecovery.zip you extract it on your pc and run the .bat file in the folder for windows you extracted if on xp like me,but you must have fastboot and also adb drivers installed and once you make sure the ouya has clockworkmod recovery on it and you go into recovery and made a valid backup made in clockworkmod recovery,i suggest you go into the root of
your ouya (the main storage where sdcard and other folders reside)
and copy the clockworkmod folder with the backup in to an external drive,my guess here is you could copy the backup folder to restore from if you go back to ouya later.
STEP 2.Copy cm-11-20140510-UNOFFICIAL-ouya.zip, gapps-kk-20140105-signed.zip, ouyabootmenu-mlq-v2.0.4.zip, OuyaCWMrecovery6.0.3.2.img, recovery-clockwork-6.0.4.7-ouya.zip, if you watch the video you can follow that guide but i will not be installing ouya-keylayouts.zip so i'm skipping that. Just copy all those files to your ouya sdcard not an external sd card the ouyas internal sdcard, you must have these to do the firmware flash.
STEP 3.Now once clockwork is on and you are backed up reboot into recovery i just use rom manager app and choose reboot recovery option for this task it's easier, you will need to download that.Once in recovery you can go to step 4.
STEP 4.in recovery mode (clockworkmod recovery 6.0.3.2 ) choose install from zip option then installzip from sdcard and go to download find clockworkmod 6.0.4.7.zip file and select it scroll down to yes and click it when it says completed successfully go to reboot and click on no if asked after clicking reboot, you now are back to the ouya main screen go to rom manager app again choose reboot into recovery option, you should now be in the newer blue tone clockworkmod recovery menu version 6.0.4.7
STEP 5.choose wipe factory data reset then go back by scrolling down and selecting go back
STEP 6.Now select wipe cache and wipe the cache then go down to go back and click that, your back to the main recovery menu again
STEP 7.Now go to advanced and choose wipe dalvik cache and wipe it and go down to go back and choose that to land at the main recovery menu again
STEP 8.Click install from zip and choose install from sdcard then choose download folder then choose ouyabootmenu-mlq-v2.0.4.zip and install it then choose go back
STEP 9.Click install from zip and choose install from sdcard then choose download folder then choose cm-11-20140510-UNOFFICIAL-ouya.zip and install it then choose go back
STEP 10.Click install from zip and choose install from sdcard then choose download folder then gapps-kk-20140105-signed.zip and install it then choose go back
STEP 11.Now choose reboot system and say nop to the following question, the system will now reboot and a menu appears, this is bootmenu do not touch anything. You will now boot into Cynogenmod C11 kikat firmware
STEP 12.Follow the setup procedure you need wifi for this i believe but don't quote me?
Job Done PHEW!
UPDATE: If you already have rooted and installed clockworkmod recovery then simply download the file linked at the top and extract it,then start at STEP 2.
A COULE OF ADDED NOTES: I had setup xbmc with addons prior to the cm11 installation and i moved it to an external drive upon returning from cm11 to stock ouya firmware i found: If you simply install the xbmc apk you used before because you moved the app all the attributing files are kept to the external drive and upon reinstallation the files are put back and therefore no reinstalling addons or downloading them is necissary.
ALSO NOTED: I found backing up the previous system before before CM11 installation does not allow you to restore from it,i think it's because android secure gets wiped or something?
ALSO NOTED IS: CM11 is not perfect but it is damn good to say the least, some bugs are browser closes at sudden intervals but does reopen to the last page still logged in?
Also if vpn unlimited is activated it reopens wifi as primary connection, this then disables the client working with ethernet plugged in until i disable wifi, also when vpn unlimited is automaticaly re-enabling the wifi the settings menu becomes inaccessible.
MORE IMPORTANTLY: To prevent the visual bugs or 99% of them turn on Disable HW overlays in developer options, enable developer options by going to settings/about tablet/hang over build number and click multiple times until developer options enabled message comes up.

The youtube video no longer exists I realize this due to recently getting a new ouya yesterday it arrived, I already bricked then unbricked it and then modded it a couple of times before trying with my guide here which I had forgotten existed to be honest, in t but using this new package aposed to the package from the youtube linked above I got it going well again just swap the files in the guide to the ones in the below webpage, just hit the big red download button on the page to download.
https://www.s-config.com/cyanogen-mod-and-the-ouya/
Also you can also use this link to simply root the ouya to on it's own it's a .apk file an android application that you execute clicking on it from the download folder, for access to download folder use a ouya file manager like filepwn I believe it is , package of the kingo root app is here: https://mega.nz/#!Zcxw0Q7a!Vc-Fw7eOhekU98-phgSdHjj_vNyztV2EdOIvWoY26Qk
This lot is becoming hard to acquire now so get them and hold them for a rainy day is my advice here.
Good guide. It should help a lot of people get the most out if their OUYA.

A little more help on step one please...
Nice guide, but it seems that the first step if one of the most important, could you be a little more specific? Thanks for this guide I was like crazy searching for something like this
The post below started out as my proposed plan for updating a S3 i747m (Canadian) from stock 4.4.2 to CM11. I've since gone back and updated it with the results to turn it into more of a guide for the next moder. This will not do a carrier unlock and it will flip your warranty bit.
Prep:
Download and install Odin_v3.09.zip (recommended for JellyBean/KitKat firmwares) (droidviews.com/download-odin-tool-for-samsung-galaxy-devices-all-versions/)
Download and install the Samsung drivers (samsung.com/us/support/owners/product/SGH-I747MBBATT#)
Download the latest appropriate TWRP (at the time if writing it was twrp-3.0.2-0-d2can.img.tar, not the .img but the .tar file, from the dl.twrp.me/d2can page).
Download CyanogenMod and copy it to the external SD card (started with the latest CM11 build with the stagefright fix from download.cyanogenmod.org/?type=snapshot&device=d2lte).
Download Gapps and copy it to the external SD card (personally I grabbed the ARM/4.4/Nano from opengapps.org).
Install recovery:
Boot into Download Mode on the S3 (hold home + volume down, hit power button, then volume up at the confirmation screen)
Launch Odin (as admin) and uncheck everything except Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time.
Select the TWRP .tar file in the AP (apparently used to be PDA) mode and flash the recovery
Once the phone has rebooted successfully, shut it down.
Install CyanogenMod:
Boot into recovery (hold home + volume up, hit power button)
Do a nandroid backup for good measure
Do an advanced wipe of your system, data, internal storage and caches (if you don't you get an error 7)
Flash CyanogenMod
Flash Gapps
Reboot
That successfully installed CM11. As it went so smoothly, I decided to try install CM12.1 right away. I grabbed the "cm-12.1-20160314-NIGHTLY-d2att.zip" (from here: forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=66726324&postcount=1202), got a copy of the ARM/5.1/Nano from opengapps.org and repeated the above process with success. All seems to be stable so far.
One unknown I had was the deleting of "/system/etc/install-recovery.sh" and "/system/recovery-from-boot.p" as specified in some guides. audit13 mentioned it probably wasn't necessary and I can confirm it wasn't.
Thanks again to audit13 for their vote of confidence.
Plan looks good except I don't think it is necessary to mount the partition in twrp and delete the two files. I have flashed the Telus and T-Mobile versions of the s3 with custom roms and have never had to delete any particular files prior to flashing.
