Need stock 12a system image - Verizon LG G4

Hi all,
I need someone to do me favor. When I took the 12a ota, I rooted it with the root injection method. However, I didn't make a backup of my stock unrooted system image. The way it sits now I am permanently rooted. I can't KDZ back to 11a for obvious reasons and when I reset to factory defaults, even through the LG recovery screen, it still keeps root. Since it's possible that big red pulled the 12a ota due to notification issues and such, I will not be able to take any more ota's until a KDZ is released.
So after expanding on that, all I'm asking is for someone with a Verizon variant of the G4 that is on 12a but is NOT rooted to please pull a copy of their stock UNROOTED system image (preferably right after a factory reset) and put it up somewhere for me to grab. That way if another ota comes back, I have a way to get back to stock without having to wait for a KDZ to be released. If someone is willing to do this for me, please post the MD5 so I don't flash a bad download.
Thanks so much in advance.

Anyone?

Try to unroot from super SU and uninstall Xposed with the zip if exists , might be helpful...
Unfortunately I am on 10B ?

I know this is unrelated to your question, but is there anyway you could either copy your build prop info to a text or share your build prop file? Trying to see if the touch screen info on their would solve the issues on older versions of the software! Thanks in advance!

update question 10b

SO I am pretty new to the lg family coming from galaxy since the first one. but I am curious since I am still on the 10b firmware and don't want to update. if later in time they release something that unlocks the bootloader on 11a can I update using the kdz method even if Verizon releases a newer method than even 11a? sorry if this is confusing.
My suggestion would be to just root and get on the same firmware that everyone else is. You never know if something will come out blocking the ability to kdz but it's up to you
Sent from my VS986 using Tapatalk
Yeah i thought about it but what if they only find a way to unlock the bootloader on 10b. I screwed myself with the galaxy s4 with taking a system update. So now im extra cautions. But i am debating doing thhe update and if i do should i do the kdz or the ota method by verizon.
Sent from my VS986
I saw someone on the other forum that uploaded the 10b kdz file to have them root that one maybe just wait for that file to be rooted if you don't want to go to 11a. Personally I think they are going to use 11a if they find a bootloader unlock because that is the rooted firmware they put out in the first place.
Sent from my VS986 using Tapatalk
Yeah i also thought about that because i thought i remember someone saying it auto updated and they posted about not being able to roll back. But ill see if they root 10b within a day or 2 ill go that route if not ill update and do it the 11a route. I already downloaded everything for the 11a root but kinda am kickin my feet

Hold tight, devs just got a 10b system image. We should see 10b rooted in the next day or two. I'm in the same boat, don't want to upgrade yet. I have a feeling we will see a bootloader work around rather than a full unlock.
Sent from my VS986 using Tapatalk
Sounds good and im completely happy with a work around. My s4 i had to use safestrap. But yeah thanks guys for all the help.

ive made a post about the update you can get vs986a11 (next update) rooted, i crashed my 10b and now got it fixed and rooted check out this post and ope it helps

Keep on 10b and if you do update do the manual way, Verizon update could potentially be an even newer one that just released and no one knew about yet, always do manual if possible in my opinion. Either way as everyone else suggested keep on 10b and wait for a root file for it which they said any day now.
Does anyone here kno how to save and also make a stock img from my phone. Im new to this and would like to kno how to proper have a back up and think it would be safe to have to stored when i do my root. Thanks in advance.

LG G3 VS98535B (5.1.1) safe for update if rooted?

I have a lg g3 (verizon) with 5.0.1 rooted. Is it safe to update to 5.1.1? Has anyone tried? I want to but im afraid it'll break my root completely or my phone will brick. I can't lose my root because ill lose a lot of features. So if someone has tried or is willing to try that'd be awesome!
Same boat. I'll be watching this for an answer.

Reflash stock recovery and you should be fine
OTA usually removes root. You can reroot it after you install the OTA
No update for the d855 or other versions ?!

I have the Verizon G3 with 5.01. The 35B OTA wouldn't even install until I restored the factory image.

Well I recommend a clean TOT or KDZ flash. Hope this will fix your problem. Please do follow this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2785089 to flash TOT or KDZ then update via OTA. Thanks!
DO NOT TAKE THE UPDATE
...if you want root, etc. Currently there is no way to root 35b and no way to roll back to an earlier version. They patched some things up it seems.
Some brave souls took the update and are stuck now... http://forum.xda-developers.com/ver...-5-1-1-ota-t3220693/post63200915#post63200915
Freeze with tibu (or delete) the system update apk to stop the notification.

I just update my rooted 5.0.1 VS985 to 5.1.1, gotta say , this new system is more battery save. i turn on the music and LG health and mobile data when i took exercise tonight for about 2 hours, and it's only cost 3% of the battery.and you know, lots of useless Verizon apps and others, but it's fine, i can disable it in app manager.
Yea I noticed that with this new update as well.
I'm little sour about being in un-rooted state.
But the battery life is noticeably better.
Maybe this option was there but I noticed new options under the developer setting where you can restrict amount of background apps running. I believe this helps out a lot as well.
Just an update on the update...
On vs985 it looks like someone was able to successfully TOT back from the 35B update, so people shouldn't be stuck anymore if they took the OTA(see post 84 here... http://forum.xda-developers.com/ver...ing-takethe-vs98535b-5-1-1-ota-t3220693/page9). Root is still not available for people who took the 35B OTA yet, but there are 2 stock based rooted 35B ROMs available now: Jasmine and Skydragon. I think the only thing that isn't functional is advanced calling because we can only use the 24b modem with the 35b ROM due to the 12b bootloaders we have that allow us to have TWRP...or something like that. So it'll be a 35b ROM and all it's updated glory - running a 24b modem.

I think you have to be on official 12A to push the rooted 12a over, but not 100% sure. Also, if you're still on 10b, I'd hold off on any Ota because bootloader unlock is rumoured to be available soon!

if you are on 11a then you are on v1
they are saying if you are on v0 you are the only one who would be getting the bootloader unlock right now.
11a has been out long enough for them to kow if v1 would work.

I agree with that. I think they should be able to pull it off for us on 11a. I'm patient and I knew it would happen soon like the g3 bump. Just wait and watch....? just give it time they will unlock this phone

Thing is if they knew 11a would work i bet they would have said it.
12a is out already...
11a has been out for what 2 months now? they would know
If anyone has successfully used the rooted 12a image and had the phone boot correctly with no issues, please post. The rest of us need to know if it's worth the risk.
I was on rooted 11a, had to restore to stock 11a to take the OTA and went to 12a. I used the root injection method (pulled stock sys img, injected root and reflashed image) and everything is working very well. I have all the fixes of 12a plus root. However a factory reset does not lose root. Since I can't KDZ back to 11a without bricking my phone (hurry up 12a KDZ) I held the pwr+vol- buttons to get to LGs recovery screen and chose factory data reset. It resets everything to default like it came out of the box (starts at the setup wizard) but I still have root with SU app installed. For those who are hesitant, the instructions in the thread of root injection are really easy. I just downloaded Ubuntu ISO, burnt it to DVD and booted from DVD. Or just download a prerooted 12a image from one of the threads. Remember that if you want to go back to unrooted stock, save a copy of your own stock system image before you flash a rooted one since the only other way to get back to factory unrooted stock will be whenever a 12a KDZ is release.
This will not work. I've said this in the other threads. You cannot copy over a mismatched system image that differs from the bootloader. The actual OTA will update the bootloader to V2 and this will work.
If you are on 11A (like we all are) then this will result in a nice little Error message that the system image is corrupt and will just turn off until you flash a matching system image that matches the bootloader.
So THIS WILL NOT WORK. I've tried. Many times. Trust me.
Also the 12A update has been pulled because it will stop app updates while on wifi (no notifications while on WiFi). It is a huge bug and thus the update has been pulled. Even if we could flash this, you don't want to flash this.
Update: Only people who took the OTA can flash this rooted 12A system image. Everyone else has to wait for a fix.

Am I the only one who HASN'T experienced this wifi push notification bug? Things are running really well for me. I was shipped a replacement phone about 10 days ago though, but it did still come with 11a on it.
Edit: Actually let me take that back, snaps are only coming in over 4g. Weird. I guess I'll wait for an official fix as well. Until then the other issues were fixed anyway.
IPV6 appears to be causing the notification bug
I read on Android Authority that it's an IPV6 bug. Disable IPV6 (or wait for a new build) and notifications should work.

It COULD but at this point, unless they just shipped you one from the Verizon store, it'll probably have 11a. Considering the weird recall thing that Sprint had that I saw in another thread, I wouldnt be surprised if it came with 12a.

The system image doesn't care about the boot loader. The system image isn't working because the boot image (the kernel) doesn't match. The system image may work if you also flash the boot image, but the older boot loader may not like the signature on the newer boot image.
And if you're only flashing the boot image and the system image, you could still kdz everything back to 11a or 10b (whichever you were on before), so if we can get a rooted 12A user to rip the system and boot, we may be able to get 12a without OTA

You cannot KDZ back to an older version. Once you are on 12A, you are stuck with it. Apparently there is a trip timer that is stored in NAND. 12A is v2... so you can no longer run v0 (10A) or v1 (11A).
I am not saying it is impossible. We can get low level partition backups (like how we pull and push the system image for root). I just have not heard of anyone allowing backups or fixes yet.
I think once the Devs are able to bootloader unlock v0 devices, they will be able to pull bits and pieces from other sections of the devices and work from the other side of the wall.
That's not what I'm saying... I'm saying if we get boot partition and system partition from 12a, we may be able to run them on 10/11b boot loader. Without having to ota

I get what you're saying but I do not think that is possible, at least not at this time. If it was, we would all be on 10A right now.
Maybe once they release the bootloader unlock, they can pull additional information. The way I understand it is that all of the parts must match the same software revision number and that there is a NAND partition that keeps track of the version numbers. So once the NAND says "v2", everything else must match or else it throws a system error on boot.
Now if they can find a way to edit that NAND section and edit that to v0, then we can push over the v0 partitions and effectively flash back.
All we can do right now is stop accepting OTAs because the further we go, the less likely we will be able to recover.
A little off topic but I can't seem to find the original 12a update anywhere. I'm on stock 11a and I am trying to find the stock 12a update file so I can update and see what I can do about IPV6. Can someone please help me find the 12a stock update ota file?

10e update for H815 SEA .... problem installing

I'm trying to install the 10e update for the SEA version of H815 (over 10d which I rooted using this method). I defrosted any apps I froze in TB, did a full unroot in super SU, restored my pre-rooted image and did the OTA. The OTA failed to install giving an error code of 1123004. Then when it rebooted into android it said updates were not available due to suspected rooting.
I never had Xposed installed, and the only other thing I can think of is that I modified build.prop to enable write access to the external SD card. I'm re-installing the rooted image so I can revert that ...... but can anybody think of any other reason why this update might be failing to install on my phone? (incase this build.prop modification isn't it that is)
EDIT : oops, sorry. not build.prop .... platform.xml
EDIT x 2 : well, that wasnt it .... the change had been overwritten already. I assume it was by the flashing of my pre-rooted image - makes sense. Back to the drawing board - (or digging up kdz files)
If you type 277634#*# in the dailer, you'll get into a hidden menu. Poke around and there will be something that states whether root has been detected. Can't tell you how to get there, I'm on Marshmallow now and that doesn't have that hidden menu, at least not with 277634#*#.
If root was detected, you can still update but you'll have to use LG bridge on a Windows PC. And reroot.
I'm having almost the same problem on VS986, I can still try to update after reboot. Rooting is setting a flag on the device somewhere.
I don't know why they're blocking the update after unrooting besides just being spiteful.

hi, by any chance you still have a 10e SEA kdz? can't find anywhere, I downgraded to 10b, but I want the 10e/last Lollipop stock rom
Just get the kdz and flash with LG up I have rooted device with recovery all I did was flash it with LG up and no problem all fix......

Get from Rooted Lollipop 13b to Stock Marshmallow

I'm tired of the problems and struggle I've had attempting to use my rooted G4. I'm currently on 13b rooted and it's been giving me problems. It randomly reboots and doesn't start up at times. And it's so sluggish. I've gotten a replacement because I flashed the wrong kdz. I just want my phone to work without all these problems. I just want to get to the stock Verizon MM for my G4. Is this possible?
You should be able to flash the MM kdz - they can be found here in the general section. Be sure to verify it is the correct kdz.
Keep in mind once you go to MM you won't be able to achieve root without downgrading back to LP. I think there is a downgrade thread here in general as well if you need it.

Thank you I just downloaded the KDZ and flashed via LG UP. It installed without any problems. I'm aware that you can't root on MM, I'm ok with that. I need a break from rooting after all of this. Thank you I appreciate it!
Glad to see someone here not happy with rooting the G4. I don't find it worth the risk or the benefits worth it without the ability to flash custom roms. I've never rooted a phone without there being a way to install a custom recovery.
For anyone interested, The Android Central podcast discussed the topic of rooting and flashing roms a bit on their most recent episode. Most of them agreed that there isn't as much of a need anymore to root and flash roms and that it's kind of died down a bit. Features that people used to have to root their phones for are now available on most stock roms.

i know at the end of the video it says close the app, but dont, just start it and you be upgraded to MM in no time just make sure upgrade is checked
if you want to start fresh, then you can just do what my video says to get refurbished checked
if you upgrade with a rooted rom you have to factory reset your phone inorder for MM to boot
