Hello guys I am a rom porter. I want to work with any Developer/Modder/Porter/Themer as a team to make more and more roms for Galaxy Y / Galaxy Ace s5830i / LG P500 / Galaxy Mini. We can easily port roms between these devices without any general bug. If we would work as a team we would get more motivation and knowledge from each other. So, we would discuss about such things like any rom to port or solving bugs. I request people to tag such members who can help us. Let's start PORTING now
We would use only this thread for common discussion.
As for now cm9 is buggy. We would try only cm7 and cm11 roms. A developer is also building cm10.1 for Ace s5830i. So, in future we would get more options.
I tried to port roms from Armv7 devices and rom booted up successfully like PacMan Rom Crdroid cm11 Pagerui with every feature working but only problem is this - Browser crash and every single app which uses internet crashes too. Only Whatsapp was working
It occurs because I am porting from armv7 to armv6. It's obviously a webview issue. And am little closed to it as I realize that it's a issue relating to framework., I tried to baksmali framework.jar file then founded a webkit folder which includes some different smali files than of my base rom. My base rom as of an armv6 device has classic webview but port rom of armv7 device has experimental chromiuim webveiw. I can port and give a good featureful experience to many device users if this bug could be solved as it is not only causing native Browser to be crashed but affecting Play Store too, It's not allowing to add a google account as it crashes showing Google Account Manager has crashed. Some help regarding this issue is really appreciated.
Well nice to see that someone is trying to make our galaxy y alive. Well i can help but in limited range.
I think developing a ROM from source is much better than porting
For which device you have ported pac rom.
If Galaxy Y than give me LINK

Bro don't mind but I would like to tell I want to make a porting team i.e we will work in unity I need help I would post here and if you or someone need help then they are supposed to do same. See it would work great if we all work together with all our knowledge basically I want everyone's initiative in it, not only to help me but to build/port rom and make stable/bugless yourself too.
Okay I have tried from three devices with each device every feature was working except I mentioned above. I tried from Xperia Mini ( smultron ), Htc Explorer and Galaxy W. I found Htc Explorer's most suitable for performance. Here's the link of rom on xda - http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-explorer/development/rom-pac-rom-kk-rc-3-t3190572
And I have tried Build 2 - here's downloading link for that - https://basketbuild.com/filedl/devs...o-UNOFF/pac-pico-4.4.4-UNOFFICIAL-BUILD_2.zip
By the way I must tell you guys that if we could solve this webview bug then It would enable us to port many roms including those hybrid one's like PA, Pac rom, Crdroid, Carbon Rom, Fiui, cm11 Pager ui, Miui and Many more

Yes they are laggy as cm11 is base, work good with scripts. But as these roms have extra features above cm11 framework is heavy then cm11 but still performance better than cm11
Hello , i'm newbike

cm11 which we are commonly using already has classic webview but the roms that i am trying to port have chromium webview as they are of armv7 devices. So, we just need a way to remove chromium webview and integrate classic webview in those roms.

Practically it is not possible even androidarmv6 team can't do this. I think there are some limitations for all the developers.

Yeah, I saw that but I had a confusion that when I port cm11 using gingerbread parts will it work? Besides you can Google "dzb cm11 y duos" and there you can find an almost bugless rom but the hw, visual artifacts and the lag was making me go mad. I wonder if you guys can do anything. It would be a great help since I know nothing about programming. And thanks(I clicked thanks).

i recommend you checking the cyanogenmod wiki how to build your own build, get used to github, c coding and learn about linux and how computing devices work.
check the github repos from @mikeioannina
the kernel and cm build is already there, compiling and booting. cm11 should be doable when the 3.4+ sucessfully initializes the component drivers. next big step should be to load the touchscreen drivers.
perhaps a string somewhere is not right - but well i don't know.
i would love to help and it would be great frustrating fun but i have no time at all

Today I have made two new ROMs, but both of them act like the first ROM I made
There are TOO MUCH differences between AOSP and CM, Omni, etc, lots of board configs need to be migrate, besides, most of the overlays in CM&Omni cannot be used in pure AOSP, so maybe I have to migrate several CM functions to make it usable.
Both of them need lots of time, so please be patient if you want this ROM recently

Hey @manup4e nice to see you around these parts, I remember you from the HTC One L porting stuff. Hey manups4e,
The link that theonlykamph posted takes you directly a page with great info on porting Sailfish to other devices, but the actual source files are kind of buried (at least when I went looking for it). I had downloaded them a few days ago and have them uploaded on my dropbox here if you want to grab it:

This is the source and MD5sum for the ARMv7 chipset.

I have been practicing c,c++,java, php, html since 5 years now i am making android apps its been 5 months doing that.I also have been rooting android devices and flashing custom roms since 2 years now I want to get my hands into porting Custom Roms for various devices. Since I dont know anything so I just want to know about how can I do this. Well making a complete rom will be not possible way to learn completely at once this is what I think. But now I am having two custom roms Cyanogenmod11 and Cyanogenmod12 for a low end device named Samsung galaxy fame gt-s6812 somebody has ported these roms for this device. Now, cm11 is working really very fine but cm12 having lot of bugs : 1.Microphone not working 2.Speaker not working 3.Unkown Baseband and IMEI number etc. I just thought that by just replacing some of the things like folders or files from cm11 to cm12 will work for this. Because many people are porting roms by just copying folders from one into another.
If this can be happened then which folders will get me rid of these bugs. Please help me out Links , explanations, videos anything which can give knowledge about all these stuffs. Thank you
Try to send @wulsic or @corsicanu a message, those two are main developers for out Galaxy Fame section.

Well, its not as easy as copy and pasting because in the cm12.1 repository there are made some changes which removes compatibility with jellybean 4.1 based binaries so we are using patches to add back that compatibility and also for telephony etc. So we are on the way to get a good working cm12.1 the build with which I am busy with should work much better as the cm12 alpha0.1 as the dpi, sound, performance, security, telephony, microphone, video playback should be fixed. The only problem I still have to find out is why the rom is stuck at starting apps. If you want you can help to get it fully working as I dont own the device and the fame from corsicanu is still broken I believe. If you want to start compiling cm12.1 for the fame then you can look in the general section there is a compiling tutorial but beware I must edit it/ make a new one for cm12.1 so if you want more help or info just contact me. I am not a pro with all these things but I can give you the basics :good:

Well I think it's not possible.Only Asus could do that. They really need to learn lesson from Sony. Build 2 seperate roms. One is their ZenUI, the other one could be AOSP. But they are not smart enough to think that their rom is full of BLOATWARE ****
This CM is going to be pure? Most of the custom ROM comes with ASUS Apps and sempe has removed these Apps

Yes, it will be pure and will only include few Intel apps for thermal/fw management. All the rest will be from CM. Im also removing CMUpdater because there is no reason to keep it.
@dgadelha
Is this kernel compatible with your CZ cuz I would like the under clocked kernel.

It should be, althought I haven't tested it on CyanoZenMod.
You can try it.
P.S.: don't forget, after flashing,
Code:
fastboot erase cache

Asus should give stable firmwares updated and with all possible features, also must provide the sources of it(only if based on open source), if you dont want their software then you should find how to use something else or make your own, and THIS WAS THE ONLY OBJECTIVE ON XDA back in the day.
Also your comment about sony isnt totally true, as you make it sound great but dont tell about the fact that they support no more than 3 or 4 devices and usually stop supporting devices without even talking about it first. I know well about this because i had 2 xpedia devices and dealt with this issue before.
Now, focus on whats important, this offtopic subject only bloat the thread and make noobs think its true because they dont have experience about it.
And now i hope this answer i gave ends this useless subject.
