Looking for assistance with LG bridge back up - G4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi
After a backup or two using the LG bridge, I can no longer use it because apparently the bridge saves the backup on my SD card\phone and then transfer it to my PC. I am being asked to wipe 12.5 GB to allow a backup.
Is there any other recommended method to backup in one click the entire phone?
Thanks
T.

[Q] Restore Nandroid Backup from Previous Phone

I received a replacement galaxy nexus today from Amazon. I made a nandroid backup using CWM recovery on the old Galaxy Nexus phone. Pulled the sim card from the new phone, put it in the new phone to confirm it worked. I then tried to connect my old phone to the PC to copy over the nandroid, but now the computer will not mount the phone and i am unable to see anything on the phone. I tried putting a new sim card in the phone but the computer still does not see the phone. I have the galaxy nexus toolkit kit installed but it does not show it attached currently.
All i'm trying to do is copy the nandroid backup i created on the old phone to the new phone. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Chris

Most likely you need to disable "USB fast charge" and the comp will recognize your phone again. As far as the restore, why not use TiBu?
Thank you so much, disabling fast charge did the trick.
I must confess that even though i have the Pro TiBu, I don't really understand all of what it can do. I was under the impression that it simply backed up the apps and system data. Does it also back up music etc similar to a CWM nandroid backup?

You can use your nandroid.
I used to pop old nandroids from my DX onto it's refurbished brothers without problem.
Does the replacement phone have to be unlocked and rooted prior to installing the old phone's nandroid or will the nandroid carry over the unlock and root status? Thanks!
The new phone needs to be unlocked with a custom recovery if you want to restore the nandroid. Root will come with the nandroid.

[Q] Is there a way to flash KDZ and not lose data?

Hey all,
I'm just wondering something. I've just downloaded the V10l KDZ file to flash using the LG Flash Tool but I thought I'd try asking something first. Is there a way to flash it without it wiping all my personal data like apps, preferences, contacts, etc. Because I've done it via KDZ before and had to go through and completely setup my phone again, so I'm wanting to know if there's a way to do it without losing my data, if possible.
If not, does anyone know if I can just back the phone and it's data up using LG PC Suite and then just "restore" it after the update is completed, kinda like how you can backup an iPhone, update it fully and then restore it in iTunes.
Reason I'm doing it this way is I haven't yet received the OTA update as other users of model on here have, and I'm anxious to get it on my phone and get it running, I've also got a few bugs I want to see if it fixes.
TL;DR: is there ANY way to update my phone via KDZ without losing data, including backups and restoring.
Thanks again guys, help is much appreciated!
With LG Flashtool 2014 just choose normal flash, it shouldnt wipe, on rare occasions it does for some reason, but its rare.

[Q] Stock lollipop cant write to internal storage

Hi all
i'm running a 16GB/2GB D855 and decided to go back to stock 20F lollipop the other day from the Cloudy G3 rom and I now can't get write access to the internal storage. When I initially flashed the kdz file I also lost the system ui and wifi. Flashing back to 10l fixed all three problems and I've since tried flashing lollipop via the LG PC Suite (20F) and via the LG Flashtool (20F and 20H), but the outcome is always the same with no write access to internal storage, wifi and system ui are back though.
From what I've been able to workout its an issue with the SELiniux content, but I haven't been able to find a way to fix it as I don;'t have root on Lollipop.
Since going back to 10L I can see the phones root files in ES, but can't edit them, so its kind of half got root access.
Anyone have any ideas of how to fix it other than going back to a custom rooted rom? (I have nothing against custom Roms, but I get much better battery life on stock which is why I'd like to stick with it.)

I've tried a number of cse flashes to various lollipop versions, but with the same outcome each time. Im guessing that the file system has been screwed up so I will probably need to root on KK and then try to sort it through TWRP.
In the end I found solution which is:
1. Flash a KK ROM through the LG flash tool, 10l in this case
2. Root with purpledrake
3. I stall TWRP
4. Install Cloudy G3 as well as a full wipe and format data.
For know I'm sticking with Cloudy G3 as I ain't be stuffed messing around with it anymore
Hi, just encountered a similar problem.
When you say format data, you mean the internal sd storage as well? That's one thing i haven't tried yet.
Thanks

I used the format data option in TWRP under the advanced wipe menu, which I believe just formats your data partition.
I've since flashed a 20H ROM over Cloudy G3 through TWRP and haven't encountered the same problem again.
I even had a same issue couple of days back..here is what i did
flashed kitkat rom tot method and reinstalled lollipop..everything got automatically corrected

Malware causing partially unresponsive screen, how to hard reset the the gpad 8.3?

I am facing an issue with the display of my LG Gpad 8.3, running latest Android available for that model: 4.2.2.
Background
My issue appeared after installing an app which was not from the PlayStore. The app has no icon and can not be removed, that's why I am inclined to believe that in my case it is not an hardware issue (but I am not ruling it out completely).
Besides that, the unresponsive strip occurs exactly on the area where the confirmation dialog boxes for this OS appear.
What I have done so far
Luckily my tablet is not something I use daily. Most of the time it stays in the drawer and turned off. So I have no fear of losing any data in case of hard-reset, although I feel the malware might access my google account data.
Anyways, I tried to hard reset the tablet using the standard LG Support tool & key combinations.
The installation completes, but the "malware" remains in the system.
On top of that the `CSN`in `Settings` --> `About Phone` --> `Hardware Information` is broken. It shows all `0`.
Last resort
I think the only option I have is to use a "dirty way" of wiping the phone and reinstalling the OS.
What should I use in that case? What is a failproof wiping and reverting to stock for the Gpad 8.3?
Or, do you have a solution for this exact problem?
Additional Info
- My phone is not rooted because I reverted it back to stock couple of months ago, due to camera issues.
Hi! Which variant of the G Pad 8.3 do you have? VK810, V500 or V510? If you have the VK810, follow the third link in my signature below titled "[VK810.4G] [altev] most reliable way to root and install a custom recovery".
You don't *have* to root, but a portion of the instructions will guide you through flashing the 10B KDZ (4.2.2). I recommend flashing with the CSE option, which will also wipe internal storage - so be aware you need to move anything you want to keep to your MicroSD card. Hopefully whatever malware you have didn't infect anything your MicroSD card, since Jellybean's MicroSD card handling isn't as secure. You can always flash a different VK810 KDZ from my repository if you prefer, but if you want to be rooted it easier to do it on 10B, then put TWRP on and then flash (for example) my 36B (5.0.2) stock ROM.
If you don't have the VK810, do *NOT* flash the files I link to. If there are KDZs available for your variant, you can flash the ones made for yours instead using the same tool.

[HELP] LG G3 (D855) bootlop, save files, no root, no ADB, no TWRP, no recovery...

Hi!
my LG G3 is bootlooping, and this happened again after 1 month when I had to reflash with loosing all the files.
But now, I'd like to only keep my photos as I have some photos that I need, and didn't backed it...
Any help for this? What can I do?
ALSO, my microSD reader isn't working in LG G3!!!
And for future what would be the installation process to have the option for just restoring phone and without loosing any data. ADB, TWRP, or?
Thanks!
Bump... Can anyone help me with this? :/ Thanks!
