Hey all,
I'm just wondering something. I've just downloaded the V10l KDZ file to flash using the LG Flash Tool but I thought I'd try asking something first. Is there a way to flash it without it wiping all my personal data like apps, preferences, contacts, etc. Because I've done it via KDZ before and had to go through and completely setup my phone again, so I'm wanting to know if there's a way to do it without losing my data, if possible.
If not, does anyone know if I can just back the phone and it's data up using LG PC Suite and then just "restore" it after the update is completed, kinda like how you can backup an iPhone, update it fully and then restore it in iTunes.
Reason I'm doing it this way is I haven't yet received the OTA update as other users of model on here have, and I'm anxious to get it on my phone and get it running, I've also got a few bugs I want to see if it fixes.
TL;DR: is there ANY way to update my phone via KDZ without losing data, including backups and restoring.
Thanks again guys, help is much appreciated!
With LG Flashtool 2014 just choose normal flash, it shouldnt wipe, on rare occasions it does for some reason, but its rare.

Hello everyone thanks for checking out my post for assistance.
I was running the OpTimuS 2.2 yesterday when my phone jumped into a boot-loop. The phone will be on for about 20-40 seconds then reboot. During that time I have no service and when I update the profile I get a message that I don't have any service. I can get into recovery and Download mode. I tried to just wipe and install the rom again. That process resulted in the same boot loop. I have a back up but that was done before the "spark" update and I didn't want to restore that because I know there will be an issue with the radio. I downloaded the stock rooted rom but the phone will not stay on long enough to transfer the file and when I try and load via recovery it will not allow me to transfer the file. (never shows up on computer I might be doing that wrong) I then attempted to bring the phone back to stock following this process http://www.rwilco12.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=96 but when I get down to step 13 the program will not respond anymore. I am going a friends house to try on a different computer but I wanted to get this out there just in case that has the same result.
Thanks again for any info that you could provide.

Flashing back to stock won't work, I had the same thing happened.......it's the EFS Partition (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2451390) If you made a EFS Partition Backup, then flashing that will be your best hope.....I didn't make a backup so I went to sprint cuz I have insurance and they are ordering me a new phone

They replaced it even though your phone was rooted?
Try installing an updated modem for your variant from this thread. It's worth a try.

If you get it working, definitely make an EFS backup right away.

I used the LGFlashTool to bring it back to stock unrooted.......but my phone had no sevice and rebooted every couple minutes, plus the touchscreen wasn't working either.....I told them I took the Spark update and thats when it happened, he said they had alot of issue with touchscreen stopped working and rebooting issue with the spark update......so they didn't look at it long...lol
I have tried back to stock numbers of times....installing modems....restoring my backups....nothing would get it to work, so I gave up and went to sprint...lol
On the rom you were using, have you tried enabling airplane mode to prevent reboots? You could try to get a stock-based flashable zip on the device if possible.

Have we ruled out the possibility to flash a stock ROM in TWRP? If by any chance you have a USB OTG cable, you could try to connect a flash drive with another ROM.
This is my last ditch effort. Small back story: I somehow wiped EVERYTHING on my G2. EFS partition, ESN, data, SIM info., everything with dialer codes. All of my network information reads "unknown". I tried many methods from here on the forums to get this data back and it turns out I have lost my EFS partition- DNA for the network? I sent it to LG to get it fixed, having done a hard reset and leaving no trace of root. They sent it back without even asking and did no repairs. The note said "board bent". WTF?? How does the user bend the main board, especially when I never opened it? They voided my warranty and ripped off my IMEI/MEID sticker from the back of the phone.
Anyways, I am here with a brick. No network still. Here is what I have done:
1) .tot method to ZVC. Several more times... once to ZV7 where I lost touch capability. Luckily saved my arse with a micro->usb cable and a mouse.
2) attempted to root with ioroot25. Failed because the phone WILL NOT find recovery mode. adb, voldown+pwr then again from power off, and apps are unable to force the phone into recovery mode. I assume it is possible that my recovery mode is deleted?
3) Would have tried all of these "rewrite your efs/imei/etc" things but I can't do any without root. Can't root without recovery, can I?
4) Spent the last two weeks scouring the internet for a fix and going back to my Epic 4G temporarily.
Please help me, has anyone seen this before? Can anyone help me fix it? I am to the point where I would pay to have it fixed. Any experts out there? XDA has yet to let me down... I just need to know if I can fix it or if it is a brick so I can go searching for an old Sprint GS3.
Thanks all,
baublitz
Hi all
i'm running a 16GB/2GB D855 and decided to go back to stock 20F lollipop the other day from the Cloudy G3 rom and I now can't get write access to the internal storage. When I initially flashed the kdz file I also lost the system ui and wifi. Flashing back to 10l fixed all three problems and I've since tried flashing lollipop via the LG PC Suite (20F) and via the LG Flashtool (20F and 20H), but the outcome is always the same with no write access to internal storage, wifi and system ui are back though.
From what I've been able to workout its an issue with the SELiniux content, but I haven't been able to find a way to fix it as I don;'t have root on Lollipop.
Since going back to 10L I can see the phones root files in ES, but can't edit them, so its kind of half got root access.
Anyone have any ideas of how to fix it other than going back to a custom rooted rom? (I have nothing against custom Roms, but I get much better battery life on stock which is why I'd like to stick with it.)

I've tried a number of cse flashes to various lollipop versions, but with the same outcome each time. Im guessing that the file system has been screwed up so I will probably need to root on KK and then try to sort it through TWRP.
In the end I found solution which is:
1. Flash a KK ROM through the LG flash tool, 10l in this case
2. Root with purpledrake
3. I stall TWRP
4. Install Cloudy G3 as well as a full wipe and format data.
For know I'm sticking with Cloudy G3 as I ain't be stuffed messing around with it anymore
Hi, just encountered a similar problem.
When you say format data, you mean the internal sd storage as well? That's one thing i haven't tried yet.
Thanks

I used the format data option in TWRP under the advanced wipe menu, which I believe just formats your data partition.
I've since flashed a 20H ROM over Cloudy G3 through TWRP and haven't encountered the same problem again.
I even had a same issue couple of days back..here is what i did
flashed kitkat rom tot method and reinstalled lollipop..everything got automatically corrected
I have a T-Mobile Note 3, all stock, not rooted. I recently installed the lollipop update, and now my screen rotation stops working.
A reboot fixes it, but it will stop working again later in the day.
I have auto rotate on, smart rotate is not on, auto brightness is on (a search said this worked but it was for an older firmware).
Has anyone seen this or possibly know a good fix?
Wow, nobody else has seen this?

hello
i had a few issues when i upgraded from 4.4.2 to 5.0 stock lollipop... first of all check if the baseband shows same as the build name.. it should both finish in OB6 ....also try booting the phone in safe mode to see if its and app/tweak error... u could also try a factory reset or a full factory reset from recovery screen with a full wipe and cache and dalvik cache erased but i dont know if its possible in stock android recovery since first thing i do when i unbox the phone is to root... always running rooted and with custom recoveries since i like to mod and tweak my phone i suggest you to try to root and release your phone full potential hope this works for you.

Reinstalling the lollipop firmware may correct it.
Odin, Kies or whatever method you used, try a reinstall.

I just went to Settings, General, About Device, Check for Updates and installed it from there. When I go there now it says the device is up to date, so no way to do it the same way as the first time.
Tostido has a full firmware zip available, you can download extract and reflash using Odin 3.09.
Find it here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=59257327
This will reinstall the latest update and should correct rotation problem.

Funny thing is my wife has the same issue on hers. I guess we'll both have to reflash.
Is there a way to flash that toastido version without losing everything? I have a bunch of apps installed, pictures, memos to myself, etc.

sure there is... i suggest you to root your device... its very easy and means no harm unless you start playing with system stuff but basically it just unleash your phone full power.... and once you rooted you just install titanium backup which is the best back up ever (in my opinion) and u do a full system data/user data back up which it will save ALL phone and apps settings and data and you just save the titanium back up folder to your pc and then put it back once you done flashing... also be careful once u flash and you are reverting the back up since the error might be a misconfiguration somewhere... but u can choose manually which stuff u wanna restore like accounts messages phone call history and more... also remember to root back again and installing a custom recovery like TWRP or CWM so i can flash stuff and back up and get a better recovery experience and also u could flash the SD card write fix since on newer versions phone wont let you write data directly to a SD card.... hope it helps at all and good luck

Hey all,
Fairly new to custom roms, so hopefully I'm asking a legit question. My phone is a D855, currently on DU 10.3. I wanted to upgrade to the 10.4, doing a clean install, but I seemingly cannot wipe anything. TWRP (using 3.0.2) will give an error message: failed to mount \[...]. Interestingly, flashify labels the recovery as Stock, so maybe there is a connection.
I have been doing some googling/"xda-ing" and as it seems, going back to stock can help. BUT, for one, I hope that there's an easier way, and also I would like to know what's causing this issue. Maybe it can be avoided somehow? So maybe someone can help me with that?
Cheers.
Just going to add a few more specific questions. As I am rather unexperienced, I don't want just to try things out without a confirmation that it's safe to go:
- TWRP: can I just try and reflash the newest one via flashify? Or maybe recover an old backup and update? Might it solve the issue and is it safe to go?
- If I have to revert back to stock: I'm coming from stock MM -> root -> Dirty Unicorns. Can I revert back to MM directly using that LG up method, or would you rather recommend flashing Lollipop, if I want to root again anyways? There seems to be a plethora of options for flashing stock (MM to MM, MM to LP, LP to MM, ...) and I am not sure which one applies here...
Hey. I had similar problem with my ls990. And tried all means to fix. Twrp was not mounting the system and sometimes internal storage appears as 0mb. It was so frustrating. So i resorted back to stock. But why flashing stock i got hooked at 98% and since then i was not able to do anything. My phone hardbricked.
Ugh, great prospects. :\
Really hope I can sort this out. At least, my phone is running fine so far, so no need to hurry. Glad for any idea!

Wait. Let me understand you well. U can boot up phone? U mean the only issue is you not able to flash anything via recovery right?
Oh, forgot to mention explicitly that the phone is still running fine. So yeah - I just cannot wipe and thus cannot flash anything. So for now, I am stuck with the rom I am on, unless I find a solution to the problem.
Hey guys,
I really need help. I was about to update my brother op3 from 3.2.4 to 3.2.8. When I was done I wanted to continue to flash to 4.0 but when I use the advanced reboot to boot into recovery it suddenly said "factory reset"!!!! Everything is gone even from the storage! I cant even backup from the backup file from twrp because it is gone! Can anyone please help me out? There are software to recovery this but I have to pay for all of them and they are not cheap!
Thank you in advance!
After a factory reset, even paid recovery tools aren't able to fully restore your data to their original state. At best, you'll get back a majority of the individual files you had on your phone prior to the wipe. The more you use the phone after wiping it, the more the old data is overwritten. At this point, I would just make the best out of this unfortunate event and clean flash whatever OS you were trying to update to. At least the phone will be de-cluttered at this point. You may even notice that the phone feels a little faster afterwards, and may even improve your battery life slightly.
If you had something really important on your phone that wasn't backed up, data recovery tools may be able to restore it, but I wouldn't hold my breath. Additionally, TWRP backups do not backup media files such as music, photos, personal documents, etc. Even if you were able to find a nandroid backup, you would only get back your OS, apps, and app data. Most of this can be restored by just downloading everything again.
In the future, I would recommend saving nandroid backups directly to a USB flash drive through USB OTG. Music and photos can also be backed up to the cloud through various free or paid services (Google Photos for example).

Chance to recover your files are verry slim. Use the TWRP provided by Bluspark, it's on his main thread, stock twrp seems to have many issues.
