More to the point, why do people root, when they have no reason to..... If you want to know things you can do after root, there is no real need to root.

Now that your rooted you can get rid of bloatware by using an app called root explorer, navigate to the folders stored on your phone and delete everything you see. Bloatware will be gone

Personally, I think Titanium Backup is better for removing bloat because it removes data associated with the bloat too
Also, to backup and restore your rom you need an unlocked bootloader. Root won't help you with that
I think you might have missed the sarcasm, if im not mistaken

And also, this should have been in Q & A not general.
Titanium is awesome.

get titainium backup and freeze everything. Then get app 2 or sd and move some stuff over
Good Luck
i saw app that change the command of the R and L buttons
but i cant find her now
Maybe it's time for a sticky thread about the best apps with root access? I think that would be a great idea. I wanted to root for a couple reasons (WiFi tethering, Six Axis controller, and removing bloatware) but there were still some things that I didn't know about that I do now because of a previous thread I made like this one.

Yea exactly if you have to ask then you obviously don't need root and should just leave it be. Good point man

Bloatware is any app installed on your phone by a service provider that you don't want, but without root cannot get rid of. (i.e. On verizon, they include vzw navigator, a pay-to-use navigation system; backup assistant, a "service" that works the exact same way as any android automatically syncs your contacts with your gmail account; and visual voicemail, a pay-to-use voicemail system that is equivalent to google voice)

Aww come on people, xda search button fail is 1 thing but google fail takes the cake. Now you must be trolling.
Whats next? Are you going to ask how to find google in the dev forums?
Hey dude. If you dont want to answer then just shut up. If i am really trolling then who cares, if other people know im trolling they wouldnt answer me and it is fine with me. Just freakin mind your own business and dont take opportunities to show off that youre better than any of the xda mate here.

Nothing
I'm keeping mine as close to stock as possible so once updates come out I can keep figuring out how to root the R800x

Dude go take your fustrations out on your wife or kids, if you think im showing off because i know how to read then that really doesnt say much about you.
Like the majority of people here, if i do not know something i will go look it up, not ask others to do it for me. Your either super lazy or just plain stupid.
If paxchristos already answered then its over right. Why would you add up on things on which is already answered. Isnt it showing off. Why would i be frustrated? It is you who should be frustrated because nobody cares about how you show off here. I bet youre also doing it on others. Theres a problem with your attitude man. And stupidity is not even enough to describe. Maybe its just reasonable enough to take that frustration out on yourself. This is a place of information, from basic to advance. This isnt a place of showing off.

Just keep getting a notification about a software update from T-Mobile is this safe to do when having a custom rom? The FreeGS3 R6
Is anyone having this notification as well??
Sent from iPhones worst enemy THE SGS3
Don't do it. Realistically, the dev should've disabled the room update feature if he used the TMo ROM for his base. You may want to pm him and let him know.

Its not gonna do anything. If you accept it'll download and attempt to install but will fail.
You can go into app management and disable the software update apps there.
FreeGS3 is a wip. Dev is also working on incorporating a software update for his rom, so it may have been left purposely. Either way, no harm has or will come beccause its there. Its already been covered many times in that roms thread as well as multiple others.

Titanium
Use Titanium backup to force stop the updates from happening or uninstall them all together I did that and now the updates are gone.
Since the thread is covered and done. I'm curious as to the whole update search app not hurting anything. On the g2x WhitehawkX always removed the possibility for it cause it was !
1. Annoying
2. Something that was always checking and causing battery drainage. It this not true?

Do you mean the Software Update and FW Upgrade apps? On a custom rom I dont think itd matter either way. Most likely you wouldnt be able to use it since you are rooted, deodexed and prob on a custom recovery. Like what happened for many on FreeGS3. Able to download the update but installation failed. But we knew it was available.
I dont think it uses much in the way of resources. He could be right about battery though, and im sure he knows more thsn I do on that subject.
In short it doesnt hurt anything to be there, but if it cant be used, isnt it just wasted space?

How do you get into app management? I've been looking... And with titanium, you must have the pro version, I believe to freeze the update. Also what do I freeze?

I play puzzle and dragons recently. And it blocks you if your phone has root. I wonder if there is any method to hide my root. I have tried many application but it doesn't work.
My phone info:\
Galaxy S3
Android 4.1.2
I9300XXELLA
3.0.31-899179
Any help would be appreciate
this should be in the q and a section but im not overly sure about a way to do that sorry.
Use supersu there's an option in the app to temporarily unroot.
But still wrong forum, questions should be posted in q&a or in the proper thread if u got a bug/feature report/request..
I have tried to use the temo unroot. but no use. It still detects my root. But when i choose unroot function, it alow me to play.

Hi There,
a year ago i bought a S3 from T-mobil in the USA. Now i want to use it with a different carrier and called for an unlock the support for an unlock code. After 6 Times calling and more than 3 months waiting i now try to find another to unlock the phone.
My problem here is not that i can't find information, it's that is so much information.
So i got a t-999 S3 on 4.1.2
I want to get botherd by those tecnical things as less as possible, and don't need the root if it's not nessesary.
ALso i don't need all those T-mobil apps that are pre installed.
1. Option:
(easyist Option?) downgrade to 4.1.1 with odin and unlock with the servicemenu (UMTS-Debug...)
(where can i find the "stock" 4.1.1 and where the upgrade and afterwards can i normally upgrade?)
everybody says easy as pie but I'm not so sure)
2.Option:
a) Rooting the device and put with odin CF-Root-SGS v6.4 on it (it sounds like a generic s3 version without tmobil cr*p so maybe without the lock and the apps (if yes can i normally update afterwards?)
b)rooting it like in this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=QPeIZZVYHbY and installing an unlock app?
(like this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=761045)
c) rooting it with this wierd auto CF things
What do you thing is the best and cheapest way to to that.
(And maybe some help here ->noob)
Thank you for you time Gentleman
Downgrade modem
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium
The best option since you want not root is to downgrade to 4.1.1 firmware which will also downgrade the modem, you will find the firmware in the development threads (stickied) after you downgrade you can do the service menu unlock.. As for the T-Mobile apps, they will stay there unless you root, or disable/hide them (no root needed for disabling or hiding)

There are some that will not let you disable them though, (usually the ones you want disabled the most!)
But I agree, if you really dont want to root, your best option is to flash the old firmware.

No theres actually a bunch you cant disable. Allshare apps, Google backup transport, Samsung map service, software update, sysscope, CIQ!, keyboard, and quite a few others.
The disable button is grayed out.

I think u read that wrong. I want to disable OTA updates from coming through but even when I do disable the notification the wakelock goes crazy and keeps running in the background.
I got your point fine, still doesn't make any sense as to why you'd want to gimp your device like that

If you clear the cache that gets rid of the update but it will probably redownload....but at least it won't notify you of an update until it redownloads
