I think u read that wrong. I want to disable OTA updates from coming through but even when I do disable the notification the wakelock goes crazy and keeps running in the background.

I got your point fine, still doesn't make any sense as to why you'd want to gimp your device like that

If you clear the cache that gets rid of the update but it will probably redownload....but at least it won't notify you of an update until it redownloads

SuperUser Auto Deny

My New Galaxy Nexus is rooted and it was working fine, but not everything is being auto denied even the super user app. Any one seen this?
CR
Was it stock but rooted? Maybe you took an update?
Shell into it and see if you can su at all.
Yes it is stock but rooted. Does the 4.0.2 update break root?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Looks like it is broken. I will reboot and see if that fixes it.

Did you make sure the app is not on the approved list? Auto deny only works on apps that have not been set for approval. Let us know what happened. I'm curious which application appears to be bypassing it.

Yep, pretty sure it does break it. I saw posts on another forum about similar problems. Just root it again through recovery.
So I am in the middle of rerooting but it is still sitting at the google screen. Lets hope this is the fix that we needed.

So the re-root helped. I guess the update to 4.0.2 breaks root. I thought it was fine. Hmm.. Not to everyone i guess.

[Q] Apps stuck downloading?

Im on CM9 Kang, also on the kernal that came with it. My apps auto update, and so I see gmail and quickpic updating. But it was kinda odd because it was still downloading the updates 3 hours later(wifi not being the problem). I even tried downloading angry birds, and it was stuck on "starting download". I have like 6 apps that are waiting in queue for updating, but its just sits there. Amazon market works perfect, so its something wrong with the play store im assuming. Anyone know a fix for this?
Its in most of the posts regarding cm9 and aokp, open terminal emulator, type su hit enter then type killall drmserver

Dude did you even search. Its even in the OP of the rom you are running for gods sake! And you started a new thread for it.

Hey, this is just a general play question though.. anyone know why when you hit all apps auto update . There is still one or two that need to be manually updated? (THIS MEANS YOU FLASH AND ACROBAT READER!!!) That's with gb and ics.. no big deal really, but it is just something I always wondered.

So have to be done manually due to permissions changes. Are you meaning those?

Like I flash a new rom. When I open market I select auto update all apps. Nearly every app updates itself, but there is always one or two that say they news to be done manually . When I go to update it manually though, the box for auto update is selected.. just weird

That means on a regular update it will. Just happens that that particular update changes permissions so must be done manually

Software update from T-Mobile with custom rom??

Just keep getting a notification about a software update from T-Mobile is this safe to do when having a custom rom? The FreeGS3 R6
Is anyone having this notification as well??
Sent from iPhones worst enemy THE SGS3
Don't do it. Realistically, the dev should've disabled the room update feature if he used the TMo ROM for his base. You may want to pm him and let him know.

Its not gonna do anything. If you accept it'll download and attempt to install but will fail.
You can go into app management and disable the software update apps there.
FreeGS3 is a wip. Dev is also working on incorporating a software update for his rom, so it may have been left purposely. Either way, no harm has or will come beccause its there. Its already been covered many times in that roms thread as well as multiple others.

I hit that thanks button

Titanium
Use Titanium backup to force stop the updates from happening or uninstall them all together I did that and now the updates are gone.
Since the thread is covered and done. I'm curious as to the whole update search app not hurting anything. On the g2x WhitehawkX always removed the possibility for it cause it was !
1. Annoying
2. Something that was always checking and causing battery drainage. It this not true?

Do you mean the Software Update and FW Upgrade apps? On a custom rom I dont think itd matter either way. Most likely you wouldnt be able to use it since you are rooted, deodexed and prob on a custom recovery. Like what happened for many on FreeGS3. Able to download the update but installation failed. But we knew it was available.
I dont think it uses much in the way of resources. He could be right about battery though, and im sure he knows more thsn I do on that subject.
In short it doesnt hurt anything to be there, but if it cant be used, isnt it just wasted space?

How do you get into app management? I've been looking... And with titanium, you must have the pro version, I believe to freeze the update. Also what do I freeze?

Safe removal of apps from rooted N7 (2013) 4.2.2

Hi all. I'm wanting to remove some of the apps from my Nexus 7 (2013). It is rooted and using the stock 4.2.2 KitKat ROM.
Can anyone tell me which apps are safe for removal and which ones aren't, as well as the best way to go about it?
I don't need things like some of the Google apps but I've had bad experiences with previous Android devices when I've just started deleting things
Many thanks all!

Why not just disable them in stock settings app (or freeze them with Titanium Backup)? They don't take up very much space. That way, if something starts going wrong, you can just unfreeze them. Plus, if you ever want to upgrade using the OTA method down the road, it will fail everytime since you've have deleted them, and you'd have to reflash the stock system before flashing the OTA. That being said, I have attached a screenshot of the apps I've disable, and I have seen no ill effects on my N7.

Your app may just be waiting on you to approve the update, or tell it to update if you don't have auto-updates installed. I've got the new UI on mine. That being said, I don't really love it. I feel like a lot less "stuff" fits on the screen due to the addition of the bar at the top that shows you what "page" you're on.
Funny thing is that I just got the phone today and even in the app store it shows the new ui. But it doesn't show any updates are available. Maybe a reboot.

Either that, or it might just take it a day or two. Google play is funny about when it shows app updates for people. When hangouts updated to allow texting, it was at least 3 days before the update popped up for me.
When I went from my note 3 it took about 10 minutes for the ui to update

Yea I tried to uninstall but that didn't work either so I'll just wait it out no big deal.
