SWR50 - Flashed stock to fix OTA update problem, now bigger problem. - Sony Smartwatch 3

I have rooted my SWR50 previously and was trying to reflash stock in order to upgrade to 5.1.1, When I ran into the problem that lots of people have had with flashing stock. I don't know why, but when I tried installing STOCK LWX48P with 5.0.1, It said it was expecting different test keys than what was on my system. It needed tetra KNX01V 4.4.2 or tetra LWX48P 5.0.2, and it said I have omni_tetra 5.0.2 LRX22G which it is not compatible. I have tried many things and flashed quite a few "stock" roms and bootloaders for my smartwatch trying to get it back to stock, and it is possible one of the things I flashed was wrong for my system. I tried this same method with STOCK LWX48P 5.0.2 and 5.1.1 (5.1.1 being the update I'm trying to install in the first place). I had an idea to install KNX01V being the base firmware that the later firmwares build and patch off of, but I can't find a working download. If you have any ideas to fix my problem it would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!
P.S. - Just wanted to note that I did read http://forum.xda-developers.com/smartwatch-3/help/wrong-test-keys-ota-update-failed-t3186118, and still had the same problem because rollback didn't work either and the Sony Update Companion says there is no update for my smartwatch when I tried .

OTA Update for rooted g pad

Hi!
Has anyone installed the update OTA on a rooted g pad?
Is it safe to do it or it's not possible?
How can I install the update if I am rooted and keep my root?

I have seen people reporting problems in other threads here on XDA. Here in the US they haven't yet released the OTA update. If this is anything like my experience with my phone (a GS3). OTA update of a factory rom when rooted often does seem to cause problems. The only device I haven't had problems with taking an OTA when rooted were a Nexus device (Nexus 7) and something running CyanogenMod.

so I have to unroot it first, install update then root again?
I have a related question - how to unroot and install OTA??
I tried to install, but it didn´t work, tablet said there´s no OTA for rooted devices.
I unrooted using SuperSU, but the situation is still the same.

I used the LG Support Tool method which involves putting the tablet into download mode and doing the update recovery procedure in the LG Support Tool. This (after a long download process) should result in a tablet which is identical to what came in the box. (in the US the procedure currently installs 4.2.2). When it finished the download and install, it reboots the tablet, if you then are stuck in a boot loop, simply do the key combination for a factory reset and it then should boot.
The unroot procedure via SuperSU does seem to leave something behind that the OTA still detects...
If you need further details I have another post in one of these threads detailing exactly what I did...

That is what I plan on doing once the US version is released, however it is potentially a little more complicated since I have heard that LG has patched the LOKI vulnerability which means no custom roms or custom recovery until a new boot loader vulnerability is found, or until you revert to the original boot loader instead of the new one in the 4.4.2 release (if possible)...

Nah. You can bet that within 48 hours after the US version is released, there will be a flashable build available with root and recovery.

True, more than likely a flash-able version will exist once someone makes it.
It already has a work around for loki by reinstalling the old aboot

Just do steps 2 and 3.
Works fine on mine

I did not lose any data but a bit of time.
My suggestion is to flash with lg tool and then root again.

I think the issue with this procedure is the recovery / bootloader, not the rooting itself. Still, you will most likely end with an unbootable OS. You are better off flashing via recovery a perfectly stock, pre-rooted image, like this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2707363

When you use the lg tool (pc software) did it automatically download the kitkat update?
Did you encounter any issue when you used lg tool?

So you did NOT unroot first?
Steps you did were: (with rooted only g pad)
Update via pc lg tool
Root using IOROOT25.zip method
This correct?

I had to click on "recover" Something sorry I have no my PC now.. I left it at work. But I think you'll find.
U got some option and considering lgpad did not boot after update.. I had only one.
It's the procedure that you got to follow after you set gpad in download mode.
No issue at all, just one thing: after rooting you will have to flash a custom recovery if you need, because flashing with lg, flash even lg stock recovery.

No I did not unroot.. But only because I did not think about it. And that's the reason why gpad was not able to boot to system and I had to flash it via lg software.
I set gpad in download mode,,then flash via lg software, root with ioroot and finally flashed with flashify custom recovery
Hope to have helped guys
Now I'll go to sleep!

I updated to version 4.4.2 Via OTA my rooted gpad and not had any problems
Steps:
1- factory reset
2- update via OTA
Attention: I think the rom has to be original (no eliminated sys apps with titanium or other) because it goes check the integrity of the rom (4.2.2)
------------------------------------------------------------ Edit --------------------------------------------------------------------------
3- Rooted with IOroot25
I've done an OTA update on my rooted G Pad, no issues either. I didn't do a factory reset, just did the update.
I updated my rooted v500 2 days ago using LGs PC software. The process took around 45 minutes and resulted in a successful KitKat update, however I no longer have root. I have a few strange issues with random unmounting of the SD card, which happened about 4 times while Play Music was copying 2gig of on device songs to it. I also seem to have lost quiet mode - maybe it's been moved out of the sound settings menu - would appreciate a comment if anyone knows where it is.

[Q] Android L OTA on rooted KitKat 4.4.4?

Sorry I'm a newbie. I recently installed Android L using factory images but didn't love it cause I couldn't root it using the SU binaries. So, I re-installed Android 4.4.4 using factory images and rooted it as it was before. My question is will I ever get Android L update over OTA or rooting will prevent the OTA. In About Tablet it always say Your system is up to date with recent check time. Many websites said that rooting does not hinder the OTA. Also some said that you do get notification but the OTA does not get installed because of some script checking your system.
Can anyone please clarify me what is it actually? Has any of the rooted Nexus 7 here got update for Lollipop?
P.S. I know that I can always use the factory images but my question is regarding OTA update on rooted device.
If you search, you'll find 2 different methods to gain root on Android L.
The only things that will prevent an OTA from installing are a custom recovery and modified system files.
Google has all the answers that you seek.

I did install Android L and was out of luck with rooting so had to revert back to 4.4.4. I searched the forums then but none helped. Only thing I have is TWRP custom recovery and Gravity Box installed (which I think makes UI changes so system changes I suppose, not sure about that). But, even in these cases from what I read I found that you will get an OTA notification in the System Update section but thing won't get installed returning an error.
Can you post the links regarding the two methods that works on lollipop. I tried the chainfire's SUPERSU zip and installed it using TWRP recovery but that gave an error saying "SU binaries not found. Did you recently update to 4.4.3."

Are you still looking for an answer for this? Use Chainfire's CF-Auto-Root.
It is my understanding (perhaps incorrectly) that you can OTA from 4.4.4 to 5.0 with root, but any further upgrades (say, to 5.0.1) will fail if any system files have been modified. Xposed works by modifying system files, so it must be uninstalled, and root must be removed. Like I said, I'm not 100% sure about the ability to OTA from 4.4.4 to 5.0 with root, but I am sure about NOT being able to OTA from 5.0 upward with root.
Hello NPOA556, Today I'm still on 4.4.4 and I got update notification for 5.0.1 of 389 MB. But it keeps saying insufficient space on device when I still have 4.3 GB free. Does it need free space in system ROM which is just 133 MB free of 867 MB. Or this issue if because I'm getting OTA directly on 4.4.4 for 5.0.1 which is again rooted and with Xposed and other things installed?
Please guide me.

[Q] How to change ROMS?

Hoping someone on the forum can help me out. First off let me state what I'm working with:
LG G2 LS980 (Sprint)
Rooted
Using OptimusG3 V1.0 ROM
4.4.2 KitKat
Basedband: unknown
Kernel 3.4.0
Build number: KOT49I.LS980
I am a complete newbie to rooting and flashing ROMS, but I have done some homework to have a basic idea of what to do since my phone is already flashable and running a custom ROM now. (I bought the phone pre-rooted and flashed)
I would like to switch ROMS to one that is based on Lollipop and have download several different ROMS specific for the LS980, but everytime I attempt to flash one, it begins to read the ZIP file and then shortly afterwards it just fails the install and leaves my phone in the SOFT-Brick mode with the LG start screen.
I was smart enough to make a backup of my phone with TWRP so I have been restoring my phone everytime. But I want to figure out what's going on so I can flash a new ROM onto my G2. I have tried going to all the how-to forums and nothing seems to work. I know I am missing something or some step because I have the OptimusG3 ROM going, so I know I have most if not all of what I need to flash another ROM. I've used Flashify, ROM Manager, and just plain using TWRP to go into recovery and pick out the zip fill from there and flash (with the right gApps zip) and all ROMS get about 5% installed and then fail. Each time I wipe Davalik, Data, and Cache. Only thing I have never done is format, just because I fear to erase everything including my ROMS and backups. (all ROMS I dl are for the ls980 specifically)
What step am I missing or doing wrong that no new ROM will flash?

Your boot loader is fine. Which version of TWRP are you using? And lollipop Roms are aosp or cm based so they need zv8 radio.
If your using two 2.7 you will need to update to a more recent version. Blastorgator (sp) has a TWRP that is bumped and Loki for all your goodness. It is at least 2.8 something.

I tried updating my TWRP as you suggested and unfortunately I went from not being able to flash ROMS to soft-bricking the phone. Now trying to boot the phone I get the LG Security Error fast load screen. Somehow the twrp upgrade didn't take and has triggered the Security Error. I can boot into Recovery and TWRP, but trying to flash a ROM or restore my backup does not get rid of the error. Per other posts I tried using the LG Mobile Support Tool to get a stock ROM on there, but no go the Tool says my phone is up to date and does nothing.
Tried re-flashing the TWRP upgrade and it claimed successful and for one reboot it was at 2.8.6.x. Tried flashing my ROMS and backup and no go again. Then strangely enough TWRP rebooted and was back to ver 2.7. Once more I'm at a loss of what to do to recover from the soft-brick. HELP!!!

Well I found instructions on how to go back to stock. As a flashing newb, do I need to re-root the device? Re-install SuperSU? What do I do next to get back into the flashing game? (on a side note, my phone was unlocked and I was using it with MetroPCS, how do I get it back to recognizing MetroPCS? It now claims there is no SIM card)

Yes, so if your on zve or less stump root should work no problem for you.
If you are of zvg then you need the one click root process.
After root in sprint development, there is an unlock thread.
Follow directions and it should get you back to working mode.

If you want to go to lollipop, do not root out do anything else but leave it stock before you upgrade to lollipop.
You should .tot back to ZVE (and ZV8 radio), sideload the ZVG update, re-root, and do the SIM unlock found here (looks like that works).

First off, thanks for your continued help. Since I do want to go to Lollipop, preferably a custom ROM like Revolution Remix or Cyanogenmod, how would I do that without rooting first?
I am on stock still with ZV8, but I had already rooted it with IOroot before reading your reply. I could start all over with reflashing stock if that is best.

I've heard different things with the new builds. But last known and working use auto-rec KitKat. Not the lollipop version.
This will get you a recovery installed. Since you are zv8, you should be good. Just update the TWRP version to the newer build. There is a thread in g2 development. Can't remember if it is original or android of the g2. But I'll find it and post the link with an edit.
Then flash the lollipop cm or aosp based ROM. Don't forget your Google apps.
They are on 5.1 based.

This is from the Renegade Rom page on Android Development, IT WORKS EVEN IF YOU ARE ON BOL1.
Start with step 5
Proper flashing/upgrading to this ROM.. IF you're thinking about flashing OJ7 Roms, take note of the following:
First, Make a TWRP backup
Make a Titanium backup and Backup your Files to PC (i.e. DCIM/Downloads/SMS/TWRP) as you might have to factory full wipe if no boot after ODIN!! Yes no more pictures of your cat Fluffy
ODIN OJ7 Full Update/Firmware Click Here.
After returning to STOCK - bootup and go to software update and take ANY OTA
{{START HERE WITH A NEW PHONE}}{{START HERE IF YOU'RE ALREADY ON OI1}}
Go to Settings--->About Device--->Tap "Build Number" 10 times and you will unlock Developer Options---> unlock bootloader (See Attachment)
Flash THIS TWRP in Odin (compatible with 5.1.1 OFE and up) and you will be good to go with root+recovery on 5.1.1!!
Boot into TWRP; Wipe (Cache,Dalvik,System); Flash a RENEGADE OJ7-V1 Rom
Finally done!! Now you get all the juiciness of the Renegade work and any mods.
Depending on your install method... The initial boot WILL take up to 10 minutes on a clean install, SO PLEASE BE PATIENT!!!!
Please check post 2 and 3 if you're having issues or questions after flashing a Rom

Stock H3G_001 or info on how to update

Hi everyone, first time posting here.
I've recently purchased a HTC 10 from a friend. I'm looking to upgrade it to android version 7
The phone has TWRP recovery but no back up of a stock untouched ROM, ive tried looking for a stock UK H3G ROM (H3G_001) but I've been unable to find 1.
Could someone give me a little help on how to update my phone, possibly an idiot proof step by step guide. i just want the latest version available for my phone.
Thanks

Obviously you'd need a stock backup that matches the version you currently have.
Does your phone currently detect an available ota update?

When trying to update it says:
"Can't update software
there was an unexpected error and the file system may be corrupted. please contact HTC support..."

So, if your system is rooted or modified in any way, you'll need to flash a stock system backup, matching the firmware version you currently have. Then flash stock recovery, and you'd be able to take the OTA.
If your system is already untouched, you would just need to flash the stock recovery, again matching your firmware version, and then take the OTA. There is a recovery for 6.0.1 in that link, but I'm not sure if it's for your firmware version. You could try to flash it and see if the OTA works.
Thinking about it more, if you're able to download the ota I think the best thing to do is to flash the OTA using twrp manually. See instructions in the faq located in the twrp thread:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ht...ery-twrp-touch-recovery-t3358139/post66347165
If you follow the instructions, you should be able to take the OTA including firmware, and not have to worry about restoring anything stock first.
