Possible? Tried using the request desktop site, but that doesn't work.
Open to using third party app.
I'm unlocked and rooted on the new 6.0 firmware
Thanks,
Open chrome, tap 3 dot menu, tap settings, tap Home page, toggle to On, and enter desired URL and save. :good:

I actually like picking my apps every time I open something. But so many times I have clicked an app and it's set as my default because the option is always checked. Anyway to uncheck it?

I think he meant a way to prevent it from automatically selecting "use as default" every time. (As opposed to unsetting an app one it had become default)
I'm looking for this answer as well.

Yeah exactly. I gets frustrating having to reset apps all the time.
no way to uncheck the 'set as default' option that I know of but you can use App Picker Classic app
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=se.anyro.picker&hl=en
make sure you follow directions after install, feel free to pm me if you need any help w/ it
Just tap on the app you want to use, but don't hit ok. It will open the app without defaulting it.

Thanks a lot. I had search many times the web how to uncheck the flag for default app, instead it was just an easy double tap. For me it works double tap on a LG G3 no brands with Lollipop.
Any possibilities of long pressing on shortcuts of notification bar will open more settings ? For example if i keep pressing on WIFI shortcut it should open WIFI settings. I have not rooted my phone yet. Its running on 6.0.1. This is normally available in HTC & SAMSUNG phones.

For Wi-Fi and Bluetooth you can click on the title below the icon and it will expand to show networks and devices as well as a more settings button. At least that's what I remember of Android M. I also remember being able to long press the icons to enter the settings for the toggle. Maybe that's just for the other buttons like cellular data.

Thanks for reply. I agree those little links below WIFI and BT opens quick setting in same notification window. Then there is more setting link to open full setting options. But that is not available for location services and other shortcuts.
Also those shortcuts are hardly manageable. Only few shortcuts can be added or deleted which is also under beta. Customization option is not available. Hard to believe for 6.0 version of android.

It's "fixed" on Android N. So you have that to look forward to in October or whenever they fully release it. It's also probably available in a custom ROM if you want to go that route.

Hopefully they will fix in Android N. My Nexus 5X still under warranty. Is it worth rooting Nexus ?
Can you get Google Now On Tap working on Community Build 3.5.3? I'm not seeing a setting to change the default search provider.
Try going to Google app settings and see if it's enabled

It isn't, it's grayed out and the only way to reenable is to set it as default search provider, which I can't seem to find
Try going to setting/apps and click the gear icon then click assist & voice input and see if google app is default assist app.
Here's a screenshot.

When I first turned ON the phone, there was option to use LG smart bulletin or google now. Now, i don't have the option to chose google now/feed.
Can someone help ?
TIA
Press and hold anywhere on launcher select home screen settings then select left home screen then select none press ok.
Then do the same steps and select what you want then select ok it will close and now try swiping from the left. It should work.

[/QUOTE]Try another theme. I'm using the Android Pie Black theme.
Rooted one ? I don't even have that option earlier, it was there ...I didn't root/customize.
No I'm not rooted. What version is your LG?
From your photo smart bulletin looks disabled.
Enable it and see if the option to left swipe is there after closing and reopening home screen. Good luck
I have tried ur step. Didn't work for me
I am using UX 8 Black them (download on playstore) and I have the choice of nothing, google feed or smart bulleting in settings -> screen -> Home screen -> Right home screen.
So you enabled this? Needs to be green to be enabled.

Reviewers say you can't do it but you can.
Global rom
1. Download Launcher
2. Settings, Apps, App Info, 3 dots top right corner, Default App Settings, Launcher.
Enjoy.
On my (UK) Redmagic 8 Pro it is:
Settings Applications > App info > (three dots right corner) >Default app settings > Desktop
I also managed to do this earlier by first installing an alternative launcher and then going to:
Settings > Applications > App info > Nubia Launcher > Open by default > Clear defaults
After clearing the default, attempting to go "Home" then showed the option of setting the default launcher.
First post in the forum YAY, actually wanted to chime in here
I’m using lawn chair 2 (kinda got used to the folder covers and speed of it, trying to migrate to nova but im finding hard to keep margins and speediness from lawn chair on it)
Only caveat is that (At least with lawn chair and nova) you loose the switch in between apps gesture (slide from the bottom left or right) but if you try another one with it working it would be amazing to read about it. It kinda slows me down in my work flow.
Kind regards
This doesn't work on my z50 ultra. Under default app settings, there is no desktop or launcher option anyone know of any workaround?
Can you send a screenshot of the 3dot options? And the default app menu ?

I also downloaded lime launcher. Same thing happens, I can open the app and customise it but it won't let me set it as home. The first pic I posted is still all it shows me even though I have two different launchers installed.

Doesn't this require root? I couldn't find a forum on XDA dedicated to the Z50 Ultra to even find a root method.

Okay, I think I've found a workaround. For anyone else with this issue, download Niagara launcher. It'll let you select your own launcher from within the app and nova will show up if you have it installed.

It is the first time I'm seeing something like this. Quite absurd not to allow setting a 3rd party launcher as default.
Xiaomi allows setting 3rd party launchers as default, but it disables gesture navigation in that case. Another absurd decision.
Glad that you figured out a way to solve this. So your device OEM has hidden the ability to change the default launcher. Niagara Launcher seems to unhide it for users. Good job.
