Greetings,
I am wondering if anyone has experienced an issue where it's impossible to get the phone to go into bootloader with the Volume - and Power Buttons. My DHD just boots up. I'm on Desire Revolution ROM 2.0.1 with S-Off. The only way I can get into bootloader is with adb.
Am I using the wrong button combinations? I've only had the phone for a few days and I assumed the way to get into bootloader would be the same as my Nexus One.
Maybe someone could point me in the right direction if I'm doing something obviously stupid
That is the correct button combination. Are you pressing them at the same time or do you hold Volume Down then press power?

restart the phone
when the capacitive buttons light is off immediately press and hold volume - button and keep holding until device is in bootloader
cheers
Also remember that your DHD doesn't actually turn off when you turn it off. You need to disable HTC FastBoot, Settings > Applications > Untick "FastBoot".
Andy,
That fixed the problem. Thank you very much.
Thanks! that did the trick for me 2!!

Try removing the battery for a minute. Then volume down + power button.
Was it rooted? Go into the rom first and uncheck fastboot. Settings, power.

If it's not where I mentioned it would be, then see if you can find it somewhere else. Just uncheck fastboot.

In what state is your phone at the moment?
If you had adb enabled install.android-sdk and propper drivers then turn on phone and connect it to pc/laptop and try to reboot it in bootloader through adb .
This only works if:
1. Your phone has adb debugging ennabled
2. Your pc can see the device attached (command: adb devices)
Hope this helps

You erased the ROM from the cell. You have to boot into recovery (boot first in hboot by pressing volume down + power and then choose recovery) put a ROM You like in the sdcard and then reflash it. Problem solved

The Unit was an open set, during that time The Unit does not have the BootLoader... is easily for me to Root it and installed with a Custom ROM.
Take the battery out and put it back in BEFORE trying to boot into recovery.

I already did a factory reset but it still comes up in safe mode + the menu button at the front is not working. I'm trying the software update(repair) through PC companion now, but it's taking forever to finish.
Its been a couple of hours now and the pc companion phone software update is still not done processing. I don't have anything in my phone how come its taking so long? please help me.
I think I know the reason why
I think I found out what's causing my phone to be stuck in safemode. I did everything even the software update in pc companion but it's still stuck on safemode. I think I know why. my front menu button I think is stuck that's why no matter how much I reboot its still on safe mode because its like I'm still pressing it. does anyone know how to clean the back? Please tell me 'cause I don't know how...

Contact Cleaner
I fixed it a few weeks ago, figured all I needed was a contact cleaner, there was dust causing the front menu button to be stuck, that's why the phone thinks I want to go on safe mode because the menu button is being pressed. >_<
I wanted to post this so that if ever this happens to you don't freak out immediately and check if its clean before you restore factory settings or whatever.

what if I told you that everything especially electronics is ridiculously priced here in egypt ,and knowing from similar posts that they will change the mainboard ,they're gonna charge hell of a price that I'd probably buy a new phone!
Then I would say 'I feel your pain' lol.......
Things here in the UK ain't exactly cheap either.......
But I've done some research.....the home button assembly is separate to the motherboard and can be purchased separately. The only downside is that you have to completely disassemble the phone in order to replace it......
Here's a YouTube guide that might help.......
