Unlockability of Bootloader - G4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

LG says "you can unlock H815 European model of G4 can be unlocked." They also says more devices can be unlocked in time. I'm living in Turkey and I have H815TR variant. Is my phone an European model or nah? If yes I will wait for BL unlock but if it's not, I will root right away!

No your phone unfortunately is not the Euro from what I know. It has to be h815 with no extra letters after that. Also software has to be EUR.

Korean LG G4

Is this phone more or less an international device? It shows as LG-F500K in the about menu. Would like to unlock and root.
AFAIK international version is H815
any F500 is korean version
not sure about the unlock, but for root, you can't use the current H815 method
Thanks. I realize I should have posted here initially. Guess I'll need to check procedures to determine if the device is unlocked already. I was told by the salesperson at olleh that the device was unlocked for both sim and bootloader.

I have the H815, it says the network code is "SEA"?

Okay so I want to root my phone but I checked on imeidata what H815 variant it was and under Network Code it says SEA. So what exactly is that? I googled it but it didn't really come up with anything related to the phone.
Also, is this variant even rootable? I hope so, I want the cool stuff. D:
It also says SW Version : H81510B_00, carrier says ARROW. If any of this is relevant I have no clue.
you are using the SEA version of the H815. It's identical to the European counterpart, but basically still considered a "variant".
You can apply most of hack/root/exploits that can be applied to the H815, only that you can't unlock the boot loader, and thus can't install TWRP on it.
So just to be sure if I follow the "Low Effort Root" for the G4 on this site, it should work properly correct? I downloaded the files that said it was for the International Version.
yeah, as long as you use H815 files (not h815T, or H815P) then it should work.
case in point I flashed 10D open EU on my h815 SEA, no problem.
Though actually the easiest way for you to make sure your stuffs work is to flash a stock EU rom on it, then flash the rooted IMG for that EU rom on top.
SEA stands for Singapore version

How many H815 versions there are and how to identify them?

I though that H815 was the european open version (able to unlock bootloader and such) and that the other versions had other names, but I've seen people about talking about H815 versions with the same name and with or without LTE-A, or even specific H815 versions for Asia, France or even non-carrier USA, and on all of them the bootloader is locked as ****.
Is this true? in this case, if you were buying this phone online, how to determine you're buying the european open version? what's the model name exactly for that?
Thanks!
I got mine from handtec.com. I made sure before purchasing that it was the H815 EU. That is what you are looking for. And as a note, I unlocked my boot loader 3 days ago so I know what they sell is the true EU version.

I got my H815EU from handtec as well. Unlocked the bootloader the same day.
Only way I know of is to check settings under software version. For example mine shows V10C-TWN-XX.

So when do you think we will be able to unlock the bootloader?

I'm also thinking the same thing here. ?
I have managed to root. But I need custom recovery just in case I need to back up etc
to see whether your model is unlockable - please see my post entitled [UNLOCK] list of LG G4 models that you can unlock

H815T masked as H815?

Hello, posting for a friend.
I think my friend purchased an H815T as when he received the phone the box had H815T on it. The seller is not accepting return because the model number in the phone says H815. However, when trying to unlock the bootloader via LG, it says ARROW(SINGAPORE) and that a bootloader unlock is not available for that phone.
Is there anyway to prove this phone has been flashed with H815 firmware to mask its true model number? I can't find any field test mode information that would bypass the firmware and give him a real answer. And IMEI lookup only shows H815 and not H815T, although I'm not sure it would differentiate anyway.
All help greatly appreciated!

Your model is H815. The model that available in Singapore is H815.
You can not unlock bootloader because LG unlocks only European H815 models
Most if not all g4 are coded h815. The regional difference comes after that will determine whether u can unlock or not and as my experience goes, the region code doesn't get specified on the g4 box. Unlike Samsung, lg doesn't distinguish different regions with different codes (like gt9300, gt9301 etc) , that how lg got me too. Shifty bastard. So u probably won't be able to get the seller to accept the return due to misleading description since it is indeed h815

Difference between lg h811 and h815t?

So I opened my box today and realized the manual mentioned lg g4 h815t.... I have a h811
Looked up on website both are T-Mobile. What's the difference?
What phone do I really have?
Could I potentionally flash a h815 ROM?

The H815T is Not T-Mobile. The H815T are sold in Turkey and Hong Kong. It's mostly the same as the H815 variant.
If you flash an H815 firmware on your device if it's a H811 you'll permanently brick your device.

LG website states 815T is a T-Mobile phone.
It is possible the manual just has that model number listed and shipped with my 811 device.
How do I really check what version I have?
And why would they state 815T is a T-Mobile phone on their website?

I see no where on LGs website on the H815T page stating it's T-Mobile. If it does it's a glitch. It's 100% not a T-Mobile USA device.
Manuals may not matter as a G4 is a G4 operation wise.
What do you mean check which version you have? If it's a H811 then it's a T-Mobile device. T-Mobile only has 1 model for the G4.
Where did you buy your phone? If used/referb/second hand that might explain the manual mismatch.

Bought it through Rogers. Apparently rogers sells or sold h812
Box imei and serial number match to phone.
Must be manual...manual is a manual.
But why would Rogers be selling a T-Mobile phone.....when they have their own brand?
Anyway to check other than software?

Now that is what's odd. So you bought it through a actual Rogers store? And not a reseller that just happens to sell rogers stuff?
Rogers themselves I doubt would sell a T-Mobile device.

Bought it unlocked. Sales rep said he could give me a deal on it so I took it
Glad I didn't get a 812 to be honest, read there are no custom ROMs?

It’s not that it’s not been tried. It cannot be done. If it is you’ll 1. Result in a brick or 2. It won’t work and hope that you’ll be able to flash it back.
The modems in those phones are completely different. Along with the T-Mobile model having antirollback which makes it impossible

Ok well I have the H812 with antirollback value 0. once steadfasterx is fully complete his unofficial bootloader unlock, my plan is to unlock bootloader, install TWRP, then until custom roms for this variant comes out, I plan on flashing other carrier firmwares.... and it seems H815 has better updates, so probably going to flash that one...
Also, can you kindly tell me what you mean by "modem" in the phone? is it the thing that deals with frequency bands?
If it softbricks, I can always re-flash my stock firmware right? What are the chances of a hardbrick?

H812 won’t be as locked down as the H811 is. But flashing wrong model firmware is a no no. Flashing custom roms built on another firmware may not work correctly but won’t be as harmful as flashing stock firmware which will 99% won’t work and or will cause a hard brick.

Ok so I can flash a H815 custom rom on this. Thanks.
Do you know any nougat based H815 roms with all the stock H815 apps?
Thanks very much.

Not saying you can, but that would be possible before flashing a stock kdz or tot.
Sorry no clue on Roms. Only keep up with stock and flashing to stock.
