Hi,
I broke the damn touchscreen on my nexus 4 with paranoid. Until I can get it fixed or get another phone I'm using adb and an bluetooth mouse to navigate, but I can't get the statusbar to come down because Immersive mode is enabled. Has anyone an idea how to do this with adb or otherwise?
Thanks
I just RMA'd my phone after thinking this was a hardware issue. I use the custom navigation bar app by paphonb and my phone lags trying to unlock it using both fingerprint reader and hardware power button. Sometimes not even unlocking after multiple attempts. Is there any command i can run through adb to fix this issue?

I tried to use the global policy_control immersive.navigation=apps,-com.google.android.googlequicksearchbox command however it keeps returning an error reading that the command is not an identifier

The 4th last comment on the link above is a Tasker method that works flawlessly. It sets navigation on when screen is off so when you unlock your phone it's not in immersive mode so it unlocks as normal plus you can have or not whichever apps you like in immersive or not. I never used Tasker until I read that comment, I couldn't live without it now

I downloaded Tiles off of the play store. I had tried shortcutter and that worked but the phone wouldn't wake up or would take forever to wake when full immersive mode was enabled. Got rid of shortcutter and got https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rascarlo.quick.settings.tiles. Have to enter the adb command but works flawlessly. Screen wakes as normal and no bugs. I'm stock non root

Ive been trying to work around issues similar to this myself.
Ive already noticed screen burn on my pixel, due to the (almost constantly) black navigation bar.
Originally i used oreo tiles in the app store (as mentioned above)to enable immersive mode, but had horrible response time when trying to wake my phone up (common problem).
Then i tried enabling immersive through terminal emulator in the app store by typing "su" and then "settings put global policy_control immersive.navigation=apps,-com.google.android.googlequicksearchbox" and for the most part it worked, but i would often get stuck in apps. i would swipe up to press the back button and instead of sending the back action the nav bar would immediately hide again. this would leave me to swipe up and trying to double tap back super quick before it went hidden.
For the third attempt i used the twrp Oreo aroma mod installer in the themes and apps section to completely disable the nav bar and attempted to use LMT for navigation, but LMT would occasionally crash and not allow me to return to the app drawer to restart the service. So that was a failure.
I ended up using "nav bar apps" to simply recolor the nav bar based on the application that is open, so instead of stationary black, it changes colors.
Just sharing my experiences, maybe youll catch something out of it that will help you.
Is there a way to turn off Peeking or Heads up notifications? I always found those annoying. I can't find a global setting for it in Oreo. I can't even find a setting for it on an app by app basis.
Thanks in advance
this app adds a quicksetting toggle for it. gotta use adb though to grant secure setting permission

Thanks for that.... so there is no way to do it without an app and ADB?
I plug my phone to my computer, run adb, type in:
adb shell settings put global heads_up_notifications_enabled 0
And no more heads up, ever.

Thanks a ton.... this made my day..
I just hate the Headsup/Peek notifications on Android... Google should allow Power Notifications control on Oreo like Nougat..
Maybe it is =0
What is heads up notifications?
I'm using the Oneplus 3T device, and I turn on and off peeking notifications for messages app.
Open Setting → Notifications → Messages → Tap Default → Importance → Set “High” instead of urgent and medium
You can use this feature on Facebook, Twitter, Whatsapp and Gmail apps as per your preference. But make sure every app has a different setting.

Thanks for that but i can't get it to work on my S7 with 8.0.0
The phone is connected to adb but when i type the command and restart the phone, it's just the same.
Basically i'm just trying to get rid of the heads up for incoming calls. If a call comes in i want it show on the whole screen.
Anything i might be doing wrong??
Hello,
I have the Galaxy A5 2017 without root and use the app SetEdit to make changes at the mobile.
Now I try to find the row were I can make the dailer pad permanent visible.
Anyone an idea?
For esample:
"adb shell settings put system button_key_light -1" -> always enable the capacitive button lights
I'm trying to start the screensaver service with a remote press using 'X edge Pro' on a rooted Firestick.
Can't find the activity that starts the screensaver?
Basically I want to hold down a button to start the screensaver.
Currently the only way I've found is to point to Aerial Dream and start the 'Test Activity'
If anyone knows a way I can do this your help would be greatly appreciated.
You can launch whatever screensaver you currently have active with this:
Code:
ADB shell input keyevent KEYCODE_SOFT_SLEEP
It's case sensitive

Amazing, thankyou.
Rather than using the ADB command, I found X Edge Pro has a 'inject key event'. I found the KEYCODE_SOFT_SLEEP there.
Thankyou for you swift reply. Really helped
