Ive been trying to find a "perfect" camera app for my DInc2 with a few key features.
*hardware volume button shutter option
*touch screen focus
*adjustable ISO
*clicking thumbnail goes to HTC Gallery app
Didn't think that would be so hard, right? But it always seemed that they came close, but were always missing one feature or another.
So, after many rounds of both paid and free apps I finally found Ucam
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ucamera.ucam&hl=en
Has all the above features, plus more. It also has a stunner of a built in editing package, with tons of presets and discrete controls for brightness, saturation, contrast, etc., *BUT* it downsamples the image to like 1280x800 or something and I can't figure out how to make not do that.
But that's just gravy, considering it already fulfilled my wish list, so hopefully they will fix the resolution problem with the editor. Nice GUI too. And it makes animated GIFs, amongst other oddities. Did I mention the incredible sharing setup?
Plus, its FREE.
They also just came out with a tablet version.

Forums are here but a lot is in Chinese

I may be late to the party and everyone is already using this, but I think it's worth sharing
I'm using nitsuj's TSMBullet and it has a great camera! The touch to focus, thumbnail brings to gallery, and it has manual, panorama, hdr, and burst mode. There isn't a volume shutter however. One of the best camera's i've used

I have to agree. The bullet camera is very sharp.

This app is awesome! Thanks for the tip.
Btw, to change the image size. Be in camera mode and scroll through the menu at the top of the screen, you should see a square with some sizes in it, press it and select the size you want

What ROM?
Anyone know if this works with the CM9 Kang ROM by areovan? This CM9 ROM is almost perfect. Only 2 issues that I'm running into:
1. Must run "su; killall drmserver" in the terminal after reboot in order to get Google Play to download/update apps
2. Flash on any camera app that I've tried (stock, angel, zoom FX) doesn't work.
I don't really care if the FFC or camcorder works, mainly need a camera app with flash as I travel a lot (business) and love to take pics at a moments notice with my phone.
Any ideas?
I've tried a ton of camera apps and this is by far my favorite after just a few hours of use. Thanks for the tip!

You can turn on the torch before taking the picture and that should help.

they just updated the app to 1.1.7 today, and it fixed a couple of repeatable crashes I was having and had reported...these guys are super responsive! They also said they would consider an option to not downrez the image in editing mode since many smartphones are powerful enough to edit a 8mp image (slowly) these days
This is a great camera app. Thanks for the heads up. Does it take the full 8mp wide pics like sense roms do? It looks like the pic fills the entire screen.

Hello together,
I installed the CM10.a9 a few weeks ago on my HTC One X and till now I was missing / unable to find two functions.
The first thing is, that you normally can take pictures while recording movies (both in HD), but I could not figure out, how to do this in this particular mod. The second problem is, that I didn't found a way taking multiple pictures with just one click. I know that I was able to do this under the original firmware with just holding the button.
Are these features not implemented yet or am I just too blind to find the functions?
Kind regards,
NyphoX.
PS: Sorry for my bad english.
Those features aren't present in the stock cm camera; you'll need to use an alternative camera app if you want those functions. LGcamera allows you to take photos while filming, and also has a burst mode (although you have to select that mode rather than just hold the shutter button to automatically activate). I'm sure other camera apps will give you similar functionality, I don't really use either function so I've not looked to much into it.
Thanks for the quick reply, I think I have to look for a good camera app now.
Is there a plan to implement those features in the future or will it be not integrated in the CM-Camera app?
Hey all, I'm in the search for photo editing apps equivalent to that of iOS apps Camera+ or Snapseed. I'm a recent convert to Android and purchased the Samsung Galaxy S3. Any recommendations?

i've been using photo editor. has alot of functions, and a simple ui. although all i ever really use it for is conversions and cropping
ProCapture is the best comparison to Camera+ that I've found. For editing and such, I use a combination of Aviary and just standard Photo Editor. The only thing I haven't found is a good polarizer filter to really remove the haze and make the blue skies pop.

Camera 360 and Avary are great. Plix o matic is reasonably good if you don't get carried away with the filters.

I was just having this conversation (with myself) the other day.
I like to take pictures and pre-filter them (very mildly) before posting them on Instagram or other services.
So, the best applications that I have seemed to have found are the following, for mild editing and filter application:
Snaptastic - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mcurrent.snaptastic&hl=en
Aviary - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.aviary.android.feather&hl=en
Vignette - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=uk.co.neilandtheresa.NewVignette&hl=en
CameraZOOM FX - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=slide.cameraZoom
Good luck!
One of the things I REALLY REALLY miss about the iPhone is Camera+! :/
That was the only App I needed on the iPhone, it was so good. The Clarity feature most of the times created a awesome picture, I havent found a single app on android that has a effect like "clarity" on Camera+
Maybe the closest thing is the Beautify effect on "BeFunky", try it, its free, and it has a lot of filters also, I bough the Paid version but it seems to be too different I didnt like it, so I just use that free one...

I am a big camera geek. I have tried just about every camera app on the Android market and I do miss some of the iOS apps. I came from having the iPhone 3, iphone 4 and iphone 4s to switching to the S3.
From all the different apps I have tried here is my opinion of the apps you NEED if you like photography.
1. Perfectly Clear - This app is also on iOS and will adjust a picture automatically. You just load a picture and it will fix the contrast and everything else. While some apps have an auto correct feature, this one blows them out of the water.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...h.perfectlyclear&feature=search_result#?t=W10.
2. Magic Hour - It's like InstaGram on crack. Whereas most filter apps come with a preset amount of filters Magic Hour lets you download filters for free or create your own for free to use later. You can get thousands upon thousands of filters. Everything from the subtle to the crazy overboard ones. You can even "pull" filters from pictures you already put through it in order to use that filter on another pic. Great for getting the same look if you did filtered a picture long ago.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kiwiple.mhm&feature=search_result#?t=W10.
3. TouchRetouch - This app lets you "magically remove" things from pictures. It's pretty crazy how well it works. Photoshop has a tool that works just like this and the fact this works on a mobile device is awesome. You can't erase HUGE things from photos but it can intelligently remove things like power lines, background items and more.

You can try the ones I have in my thread here...there's a ton of fun ones

Agreed. Camera+ was my go-to-app for photo editing and the "clarity" feature was pretty amazing.
Thanks, everyone for all the recommendations! Looks like I will be looking into all of these apps to find my android go-to-photo app.
+1 for perfectly clear. It has a great one touch fix.

I am one of those people that LOVES taking pictures on my phone and I have tried just about every Photo and Panoramic app on the Play Store. I had a iPhone 4 before I switched over to S3 and at the beginning I was scared because I was letting go of some really good photo apps.
Now though, I think I might have found the ones that fit my photography style perfectly.
1: Magic Hour. Think of it as instagram with unlimited filters. It has a "Filter Store" where you can download other filters that people have made using the app. There are THOUSANDS of these. Thankfully you can search by newest, most popular, etc. This is like Instagram on crack. LOVE IT! Also, if you run a photo through Magic Hour and save it, then weeks later you want to run another photo through the same filter but forgot which it was, you can load up the photo you saved and it'll figure out which filter was used and you can throw that on to another picture. You can also mark filters as favorites, etc
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kiwiple.mhm
2: Perfectly Clear. With just one button this app will make your photos look so much better. They had this one on the iPhone as well and I'm glad it carried over. It fixes saturation, contrast, color, brightness and it does it all better than any other app I have found
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.worldiety.athentech.perfectlyclear
3: TouchReTouch. Sometimes you take a great photo and happen to notice after the fact that there is something in the background or powerlines you wish weren't in the photo. With TouchReTouch you just highlight want you want removed from the photo and it smartly removes it. It is a lot like using the smart eraser in Photoshop except you can do it on your phone.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.advasoft.touchretouch
4: AfterFocus. After focus simulates what a DSLR camera can do where the foreground is clear and then the background is blurry (not in focus). You just use your finger and select the foreground, then select the mid ground (optional), then select the background. It will then very realistically blur the background so your picture gets a great DSLR look to it.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.motionone.afterfocus_pro
Usually I'll take a photo, edit things out of it I don't want with TouchReTouch, then depending on the photo I'll run it through AfterFocus to get the DSLR look and then Perfectly Clear to make it look the best possible. Finally, depending on what I want the photo to look like I'll apply a filter. And if things go ok then I get pictures like this: http://trukatu.com/baby.jpg
As a bonus, I should mention that HDR Camera+ is one of the best HDR apps. Most HDR apps takes 3-4 pictures and combines the brightnesses to make one awesome looking pic. But they all require you to remain almost perfectly still. HDR Camera+ is the only one that takes multiple photos, analyzes the brightnesses and combines that all over the first image only. So even if the subject moves or your hands moves or something, it still looks great.

I agree, best panoramic app. I still think the iOS panoramic app "AutoStitch" is hands down the best panoramic app on any device (except pc) but Photosphere is the best for android
I wouldve kept the 4.2 camera due to all the functionalities it had , full screen view and last but not least photosphere, but had to say goodbye to it cus I couldnt figure out how to automatically save photos to my external sd card :/

Camera+ is probably the thing I miss most about iOS. Camera ZOOM FX is pretty alright, but it's no Camera+.
Ive tried 3 different 4.2 Gapps packages and 6 different Roms. The 4.2 camera never wants to play nice with my S3. Some people have better luck than I though.

Greetings, Xperia M, Build 15.1.C.2.8, Half-rooted (unable to do the full root, I don't know why so I can't do the RW thing)
Like most of you have probably noticed, the stock camera firmware has a bluish tint problem. The camera works great in the daytime, really good actually. But doing some camera app testing in a darkened atmosphere I took some pics in my bedroom with the flash, and the pics look really BLUE. My walls aren't blue, they are yellow haha. After testing with other android camera apps such as ProCapture, the pics look as they should (no blue walls). So it's obvious that it is the stock sony camera firmware that is at fault since other camera apps make the pics look normal.
So saying this I went ahead and froze (disabled) the stock camera app so I could launch ProCapture with the hardware shutter button. But now I have no video recording app ugh. So two-fold question please:
1) Is there a way to make our hardware shutter button open up a different camera app such as ProCapture? If so, how please? (Like mentioned above I was only able to half-root it, the full root instructions just haven't worked for me no matter how many times I tried)
2) If not, and I do have to disable the stock camera app so I can launch ProCapture with the hardware button, can you recommend me what video recording app I can install that can takeover just video recording duties? I think it would need to be for video recording only otherwise I may run into problems with the hardware shutter button again. It has been remarkably hard to find a video recording app on the app store! I have no idea why this is.
Thanks much for your help. BTW, I like the phone. For the price, I think it's really good. And more importantly, the size and shape fits me perfectly :fingers-crossed:
For your 1st question.... I'm not really sure on the x m but when I was still using an mtk phone I was able to change the camera button to open any app I want in android.policy.jar or was it framework.jar (cant recall).. Cant remember which smali it was but I stumbled on it via search for text using notepad++ ... I searched for com.android.gallery in our Xperia case you should search for semc.android.camera (not sure if thats the correct package name for the stock camera app) and change it with the package name of the camera app or whatevar app you want the camera button to launch

try this lg camera : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1677645
Thanks for the replies. As far as LGCamera goes, it seems to not have been updated in almost two years so I left that one alone. Did find an app called "A Better Camera" which also has video recording in it. So I disabled the stock camera and have just been using A Better Camera and it also launches from the hardware button. Better pics too in the dark with the flash. At least my yellow walls aren't blue
Edit: Okay, I have found a way to be able to launch a third party camera from the hardware button WITHOUT freezing (totally disabling) the stock camera app. This then will allow you to use a third-party camera app such as ProCapture etc (that don't have a built in video recorder), allow you to switch between the third-party app and the stock video recorder, but then also launch the third-party app using the hardware shutter button. In other words, the best of all solutions.
You need to at least half-root the Xperia-M (many threads found here how to do that) then get the AutoStarts app from the play store: (not allowed to post links yet). Just search AutoStarts from Michael Elsdörfer
Once you start AutoStarts, scroll down and find "Camera Button Pressed". Select Disable for all the cameras EXCEPT the one you want to use the hardware button for. You're done now. All the camera apps that you selected disable for will still work when using their icons, the one you didn't disable will be the one that starts with the hardware shutter button.
Note: I also tried the app "Default App Manager Pro" and set ProCapture as the default camera. But that didn't do anything, no effect on the hardware shutter button (still opened the stock camera). So far the AutoStarts method is the only one that has worked for me.
Hello,
I just received my Xiami Mi Mix 2 last weekend. I usually use my phone to record sports games.
I noticed that 4K recording can only record up to 8 minutes and stops. I tried looking up online to get around this but seem to can't find a solution.
Oh well, I decide I'll just record at Full HD, but noticed that it would record up to 23 minutes and then continue recording in a second video. My main problem with this is after that 23 minute, there is a few second gap that is missing before the phone continues to record in the second video. Of course, merging the two video files afterwards is a hassle as well.
Anyone know of any solution to get around this so video can record continuously in Full HD without splitting up. Maybe a different camera app, etc.
My previous phone was the Huawei Honor 8 and I could record continuously over a hour with it's basic 1080p setting.
Oh yeah, when using the camera to take a picture, it always has a watermark (MIX SHOT ON MI MIX2) on the bottom left corner... how do we remove that?
Sounds like a file size limit issue. Some filesystems can't handle files that are over a determined size. I remember my old Nokia did just that.
You can remove the watermark by opening the menu (top left corner) and selecting device watermark.

Thank you. My menu was on top right corner and didn't know that existed.
Well still hoping someone on the forum knows how to get around the Full HD recording after 23 minute issue.
Have you tried installing a third party camera like open camera from the playstore? In the setting for open camera there is an option to record for an unlimited time. Hope this helps?

I saw that app but didn't download it. Wanted to see what other people are actually doing instead of relying on 3rd party app that may freeze or might be worse video quality.
