I said I wanted to know how you made a Sprint phone work on Verizon.
I'm not interested in GSM unlocking - I've been doing that for years already.

Do I need to have a sim card to do this?
Would love it if you could unlock my tmobile s6 edge+ without root.

XDA is not the place for you to make your $$$, you have been told this in the past. Either via the forums or via PM's. You may call it donations, but when ask for given a price for a set services, that is not allowed.
And per Forum Rules
11. Don’t post with the intention of selling something. Don’t use XDA to advertise your product or service.

Possible to unlock without code?

I was wondering if it is possible to SIM unlock the Inc2 without buying a $4 code.
If you are using the phone on an active account then vzw might give the code to you. I believe that they require 6 months of good payment history. Just call them and say you are going to travel out of the country. It can't hurt to ask them...

4$ is a lot isn't it...... Maybe if you ask nicely Verizon will give it to you.

I'm actually not with Verizon, I'm on Pageplus, but wanted to switch to Tmobile.
Its not about the $4.
I was simply wondering if it is possible via software to unlock the phone or is it simply hardware locked?
I believe it is hardware locked. I could be wrong though. I know that I have seen websites that claim to give unlock codes away for free. I would worry about how safe these are though. They could be cloning ESNs or who knows what else...
Sent from my ICS Dinc2
IF, if you can find the proper, correct 8 digits unlock code to input - you will be set to go, you get up to 5 chances, or is it 10 chances before it's permanently bricked (destined for eBay as quality pre-owned parts for sale, LOL)
For the price of a premium Starbucks double latte, you could try - or give it up & give $4 to them to try (most offered a refund with video documentation of failed efforts) - success had been reported.
On the other hand, I believed VZW changed the factory/default 8 digit codes (OTA ??) and stored the new code, unique to each IMEI in their own SQL/database - accessible to global support CSR ... I understand it's difficult when you are no longer on VZW being on PP now.
We unlocked ours in under 10 minutes by dealing with VZW as account owner in good standing, free, yada yada - YMMV, of course.

Thank you for posting this, I was going to when I got out of work, it is dangerous to post your IMEI in a public forum, its like giving everyone your social security number for your phone.
I know this may not be the correct place to ask this but....is it a viable choice to use my dinc2 on att? I've heard different stories but the posts I've read were a little dated. If not could somebody suggest one that does work well with att? I don't want to buy a new phone because I can just trade around with Craigslist until I get the one I want lol. Thanks in advance for any info.

on what carrier you are planing to use it? You cannot use sprint Galaxy note 4 on domestic GSM carriers like AT&T, T-mobile and their MVNOs (Straighttalk , etc). The phone can be unlocked for international GSM use (voice and 3G only, not LTE). Internationla unlock can be done officially through Sprint or unofficially via app in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/spr...print-samsung-unlocker-unlock-sprint-t2928250
My question is how did you come across a Sprint Note 4? Did you not do your homework before acquiring the Sprint Note 4? Maybe you somehow got the phone for free? Why would somebody actually pay for a nice phone (released only a month or so ago) without knowing if it will work on a completely different network/carrier... then turn around and look for help on how to activate it on a GSM carrier? This makes no sense to me.
Im curious too.
Can a Sprint phone be unlocked and set up for use on ANY other carrier in the USA,
ie: Verizon?
No no no
Sent from my SM-N910P using Tapatalk
I am pretty sure that if the phone had a clean ESN that you can activate it on Ting Mobile. I have also saw a thread where someone had flashed a T-Mobile Rom to the Sprint note 4 but they where not getting LTE of course I'm sure in time someone will come out with something stable.

Off topic here.
I came up for upgrade in June. I was gonna go Nexus 5 and then the Nexus 6 rumors started to fly. So I waited and along came the Note 4. After much research I ended up with arguably the best phone on the planet. Imo it is.
Unlock Code
I am in Canada, got this as xmas gift from my father in law
You can root and try Galaxy Tools 4 root users https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.idone.galaxymenu
Or you can use this app from the S5 thread you don't need root with this app http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2928250
Hope this helps a little

1. No
2. Customers can switch devices by calling on a different phone to CS or going into store and switch devices, no unlocking necessary.
3. Just switch Sim cards and edit and tweak where necessary or pay someone if you dont know how.
4. Correct, but no unlocking necessary.
5. That depends on the person.
Thank you for your answers

Yes yes yes it can be used with other carriers in the USA. Are people forgetting about flashing of modems and firmware. What decade are we in 1960? Our maybe 1950 when phone were still two way radios. Remember sprint can't stop everything Samsung does in making their phone. Ask the right questions to right people get right answer. If someone in XDA hasn't figured it out yet just wait & keep on looking. XDA is also not the only place to look for answers to everything Samsung, sometimes Samsung is were to look or Samsung blogs. All I hear is everyone that talks about Samsung first thing everyone says is it CAN'T be done. When are the tech, crackers, & hackers of this world going to stop saying everything is impossible & realize we are the ones that make everything possible. If we are going to do that why do we become techs or crackers or hackers or even developers in the every first place?.... LET'S STOP PUTTING LIMITS ON OU OURSELVES & SHOW SPRING WHAT WE CAN DO! Sprint is not GODZ. We created what sprint & Every carrier in the world uses to try to put limitations one everyone with. Are we going to let the carriers use or phones against us or are we going to use them the way the phone manufactures wanted the phones to be used ( without restrictions of the carriers of the world.)
after unlocking your sprint device you can only use it with carriers outside the USA. If you are planning to use it with local sim cards after unlocking like at&t and t-mobile (gsm) then you cannot.

Umm if its not under payments u can
Yep once the phone is paid for per new laws that went active in Feb or March if you ask the carrier to domestic unlock your phone they are required to do it by law. Some models this will not be possible but the note 4 should. I think the carriers have a grace period to make this available. Not sure how long. I could quote the legislation but Id have to search for it.
Sent from my SM-N910P using XDA Free mobile app
B to the S. If you can unlock a 720t a note 4 can be unlocked!! Period!! It picks up signal just no antenna for that signal because the phone antenna is tuned in the wrong station or radius degree. I think if the people who can unlock 720t s can try the same methods with busy box or Verizon modems. Like guy said earlier " Si se puede"!! It can be done!! Just need to tweak frequency angles and remove face security options a little.
By law you can have it unlocked for a limited time, but that will not make the LTE radio magically work on your carriers band unless they support the same band. Or unless you know someone who can JTAG flash the radio to another carrier as well you will not be able to use the LTE/DATA band on a carrier that does not support the frequency. This is nothing something that can be done over USB or by a new kernel. This will have to be done with JTAG and by someone who has access to the various carriers radio firmware which is tightly guarded. So basically you will be using a Note 4 on 3G only. Might as well just sign up with SPRINT then, you will get the same service speed.

Is the VZW version unlockable?

(edit)According to user ihatevz in post 7 (https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=72920750&postcount=7), the VZW edition is not unlockable
I see threads regarding TWRP and unlocking etc., but I can't find a straight answer regarding whether or not the bootloader on the VZW edition is capable of being unlocked.
Yeah this is exactly what I want to know. I'm starting to get frustrated about it to the point of going to Best Buy to get one just so I can try it and see.... because apparently no one here has one.
Rule of thumb is no for all Verizon phones.
Some people seems to do it by calling up tech support and trying to fool the other side that they have a non-Verizon device, but I don't think it's worth the effort.

I would agree....if it weren't for the unlocked Nexus 6 I am currently using on Verizon. I understand that it is pretty unlikely for a non-nexus phone to be bootloader unlockable on VZW, but I am in need of a new phone and current deals have a z2 and a Pixel for the same price. I'd prefer this phone over a gen1 Pixel (assuming the VZW z2 is unlockable, ofc), so I'd like to know for sure and someone has one, so someone knows for sure.
I chatted with a VZW rep and they said there is no VZW specific Moto Z2 Play and the one you get from VZW comes straight from Motorola. When pressed for a concrete answer on the unlock-ability of the bootloader, I was given a link to chat with Motorola with the suggestion they'd have more detail. However, that chat didn't go far as the Moto mobile rep said they have no info on the bootloader, then gave a link to the Bootloader Unlock program (on which the z2 is not listed).

Yeah that is why I have a feeling it might be unlockable... if there was a VZW version of the phone, it would be the Droid Z2, not the Moto Z2.
Also the bootloader unlock page says the list is not inclusive of all the models. You can try to unlock it and see what happens.
After this info, I feel more confident about giving this a try, so I am going to order a VZW Z2 Play from Best Buy tonight so I can pick it up tomorrow (I would do it now but I don't have my Best Buy credit card on me for the pickup). I recently learned that there is no restocking fee if I buy a phone and return it in Ohio, so I feel like its worth a try at least as I won't be out anything but time if I don't want to keep it.
Hello everyone. I went all the hassle to buy the verizon phone all the way from china to the usa and guess what? CANT BE UNLOCKED!!! DONT WASTE YOUR FRICKING TIME. So no. I would ask devs next time under the root forum to please indicate what they used to root and unlock the bootloader. Because Verizon cannot. Thanks bye

you guys are all wrong. The phone had the verizon logo on it and it came straight from moto. It sucks that it can't be unlocked. So dont waste your time. I hate the moto service too because they all are from india and think I mean that i want it carrier unlocked. they don't know what boot loader unlocking is.

And before all of you ask, yet I bought it from the motorola site and the only option to buy is the verizon version. the gsm one doesn't come out til later. So don't waste your time buying this phone if you want it to be an unlocked bootloader. Just an FYI. And it does come with the verizon logo on it. You can't buy it otherwise. I am pretty pissed off though because I did prior speak to a rep that was a tech that said it could be unlocked even if it was verizon, but what a liar. He must have thought I meant carrier, I am about done with motorola. I have the g5 plus right now and its great but I am tired of the bullsh&t verizon does by not allowing the bootloader to unlock. Like f*ck you verizon.

So they actually said the unlocked version wouldn't have CDMA? Or just their canned line of "the phone has to have CDMA to be part of this network" they rattle off?
Also, wouldn't a phone with VoLTE work if it had VZW LTE bands even without CDMA?
He said it wouldn't come in the cdma form but who knows how he got that...
It's true. The phone only gets LTE. No CDMA roaming. Also texts don't get marked as sent, they do get sent to recipients, but your phone displays not sent.
I literally have tried every firmware, reflashing every modem. I've tried even flashing prl files on it, nothing. It's missing whatever the radio band or whatever it's called, that allows for roaming on verizons network. This means no 3g and no 1x. I often wake up with no bars at all anymore. It takes some time to reconnect. It's pretty bad, not sustainable for a phone.

Not possible. Your Verizon variant phone cannot be "bootloader unlocked" and rooted, however you can use it on other networks because it is "carrier SIM unlocked". If you were interested in a bootloader unlocked phone you should have purchased an unlocked Google variant.

Nothing is free. Certainly not a device where you pay ~30 / month over 2 years. Which means they are not cheaper by any means. However, you can roll it into you carrier plan without the extra credit check or 3rd party financing.

I don't know about you, but when I take up a new hobby, I do research before I run out and buy expensive equipment. Every hobby has it's basics and common knowledge. Verizon locked bootloaders is common knowledge and it doesn't take a lot of work to discover that. So, if someone is negligent in doing their research, how is that anyone's fault but their own? As far as Verizon employees go, the people on the phone or in the stores may not know about locked bootloaders, just like a car salesman may not know what kind of turbo a car has or how much boost, but the people in R & D sure do.

Yes, an experienced professional 3rd party business can do it. It's extremely expensive though - around $200 US
As of today I'm carrier unlocked just by asking a t force member that I'll be in Europe and her for the next yr or so, I didn't expect her to whitelist so easily especially since I just upgraded to the s22 plus 2 months ago with 3 lines but she gave me no hassle about it I got lucky I guess and I do know how to speak to people and be honest. I went to support and chatted with her that's it 20 mins went by and permanently unlocked T-mobile carrier
