[Q] - Recovery which doesn't have 'slide to confirm'
Hi all,
my screen is cracked and about 1cm of the very left of the screen doesn't work (doesn't detect touch)..
I'm keen to reflash a newer ROM than i currently have (and back-up existing) ...but TWRP has a slider to confirm any of the actions (back-up, flash, etc) and the bit where my screen doesn't work is the start of the slider....so i can't confirm anything (including reboot!).
does anyone have any other Recovery that doesn't have the slider to confirm...or is there another way I can Wipe + flash a new ROM. ?
tia.
Cwm or philz recovery

my phone aborts when trying to flash some new roms...any idea y
Are you flashing through Amon RA or Clockwork? I would use RA and make sure you do a full wipe.
Is the ROM you are flashing signed? If not it will abort unless you turn off signature verification. Not sure if Clockwork lets you do this (I haven't used it in forever) but RA does. Of course, if a dev can't properly sign their ROM then you probably shouldn't use it anyway.

Pls i need help
Hi there, phone screen remains black and no visuals after flashing rom, so I canrt see anything on screen or know what to do about it, pls help?
Details -
After flashing ROM from SD card via which seem to go well... ONLY that the screen is blanked out, no lights except the key lights, phone comes on, responds to touch by giving normal sounds like when I use flick the scroll lock and touch the screen etc (just because I know how the phone works) but problem remains that I cant see anything, so I cant even boot into recovery or download mode to flash again since its all black and dimly lit.
I have a B63M running Gingerbread 2.3.5 so I am not sure what model of HTC it falls under in case this question or similar has been asked already.
I was able to initially get into flash recovery using the mobile uncle tool which allowed me get into recovery, something that has been impossible using the stock recovery in b63m.
I backed up the ROM , cleared cache and daikvil cache then went on to flash ROM using an update.zip and then the touble I explained above.
This is a current situation pls I need help getting back up and flashing the right lattest rom for my phone?
SORRY, i didnt realize at first that you dont have an evo, so i dont know if these instructions will help you
turn your phone off, remove and reinsert battery.
hold vol-down then power until HBOOT loads.
use vol keys to navigate and power to select the word "recovery" to boot into recovery.
I suggest you download roms over wifi if you havent as over 3g can cause roms to download wrong and cause issues
Hi All, Just got a replacement screen for my GSM One X.
Was just about to flash an updated ROM and I noticed that whilst I can boot into the menu for fastboot and recovery, if I select recovery I just get a black screen.
I was on CWM so I just flashed TWRP, and get the same.
Anyone able to shed any light on it? Phone boots and works normally apart from this but without recovery I'm borked for ever changing ROM...
Ah, must be a display driver issue. TWRP 2.40.0.0. JB works...phew.
this is a question so next time please post questions in Q&A , thanks general is made for other things not questions
Hi
My touch screen is not responding with cm 12 based rom. I tried cm 12 and cyanHacker rom. In both the cases the screen was not responding after the rom boots up.
I initially had cm 11 installed with cwm recovery. The steps i did to install the roms were,
1. Flash the boot image using fastboot into boot partition. (fastboot flash boot boot.img)
2.Then after going into recovery mode installed the zip and gapps and restarted.
3. When the rom boots for the first time, at the the language selection page, the screen was non responsive.
But i did notice that hardware buttons (power, volume + and volume - ) are fine. Also the screen auto rotate is working fine.
I am unable to find why this is happening and what went wrong. Can someone please help me with me with correct way to do it and get it installed.
My is Z!C 2011 model, just an info
Thanks
Hey there. I've been using Candy5 for a bit, but kept a nandroid backup of stock. Today I restored stock (was working for a day) but when I tried to restore back my Candy5 nandrood backup from recovery it won't boot, and shows up a LG logo with 'Security error' under it. What may be the problem? I had to go to work and left my phone at home. Will look at it in a few hours, just wondering if you guys saw something similar? Any workarounds to that? Or how to fix it?
Jast flash aosp kernel Furnace od 777jon.
How do I that ? Can't access recovery because it won't boot. From what I've read so far D855 can't go into fastboot.
Have you tried with button combination volume down and power to boot in to recovery? If not then go into download mode with volume up and plug usb cable and reflash to stock rom with Flash Tool.
Didn't even know the combination exists, was used to it from former Sony phones, but it isn't working here.
Yup, reflashing stock now, thanks.
The problem prob was I installed recovery through AutoRec app. That seems to be for 5.0 only.
Which is the best recovery/kernel for 5.1.1?
Furnance and 777jon kernel both are good and work well on 5.1
reboot to recovery with hard keys (hold power+volume down, when see the LG logo, release and hold again keys, then you see the factory reset option, double yes)
flash your current rom again, (no need to GApps again, just rom) wipe cache+dalvik, reboot system.
AutoRec is the problem for me to see this error, and my solve
sorry for bad english
Hi, I have a rooted s4 sgh m919. I am running twrp custom recovery. So I just flashed cm 13 nightly build for the s4 and it worked and ran through boot up and everything. Then I realized that I had stupidly forgotten to backup my apps(I though I had but it was a twrp backup). So I returned to recovery mode using adb because my up volume buttons dont work(biggest problem for me now) and used twrp restore of a backup I made before the new rom. Now I know that my twrp backups work because I have successfully restored before but that was using the same rom, this is the first time flashing a new rom. Since I am a noob, I didn't know that I have to factory reset and delvik cache wipe before I restored my backup since they were different roms. Now after booting up and getting past the boot animations it goes straight to a black screen with a bunch of "Unfortunately ______has stopped" for just about every single app I have including system apps and UI. I can boot into the download mode prompt(where it says volume up to download mode, down to reboot) but since my volume up button doesn't I cant boot into recovery or download and do a factory reset. I can boot into safe mode but I still get the same black screen with a bunch of "Unfortunately ______has stopped". I also can't do it through adb since I have no access to phone settings and when I connect to the computer, the computer make a sound recognizing something was plugged in but won't show my phone in the libraries and when I use "adb devices" my phone isn't there. I stored my backup onto my ext sd card if that helps. Is there anyway to get into recovery mode or even just do a factory reset without using volume buttons or the computer? And has anyone else had this problem and if so what is it called(hard brick, soft brick, bootloop.....). Thanks!
You need to fix your up-vol button.
There is also a special micro USB loopback plug which I think can make the device boot into a special firmware loader mode. Then you would use heimdall/odin to replace the firmware, but I have never done that.
As for what to call the problem, I say "dumb user with broken hardware". You knew that your up-vol button was broken and what would happen if you could not get into recovery. Now that it has happened you want a magical fix instead of doing what you already know you need to do. Sorry for honesty.
1st- buy a usb jigg, they go for less than $5 amazon, eBay etc.
2nd - while phone is powered off use the USB jigg to put it into download mode
3rd- use Odin to flash the latest ok3 firmware.
4th - use Odin again to flash cf auto root. (No need to check if it has root the recovery you flash should be able to root it)
5th- use Odin again to flash Philz touch cwm recovery.twrp causes lots of problems when flashing. Philz recovery has been flawless.
6th- flash any rom of your choice. If you can't get into recovery theres an app called quickboot that can put you in recovery as long as you're rooted.
