Has anybody here tried to update the Note 4 over Samsung Kies or SmartSwitch ? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note 4

Just wondering if I can update to OC6 over Samsung Kies. I'm not currently on the States and I already know that I'm not getting any updates over the air since there is no AT&T service here.
My phone came out of the box with Lollipop (COC4), and I have never tried to downgrade it, if anybody has a alternate way to update it to OC6, it would be really nice to know more about it !!

I literally just helped someone with this issue in another thread. It was kind of off-topic, so I'm not going to blame you for not seeing it.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/not...-att-note-4s-ship-lollipop-oc5-t3189614/page4
Simply put, Kies will always show that the ATT Note 4 is up to date, when it isn't. I don't know EXACTLY why, but it has to do with ATT being the ones releasing the final version of the firmwares, rather than Samsung.
Anyway, you have to use Odin. Read my conversation starting from the link above. There, you'll find more info as well as a link to the Odin file for the latest firmware.
If you get stuck somewhere, PM me.

Sorry for not seeing it
I had several days checking couple of threads but I was not getting as concrete answer as yours, I guess I would read everything untill the end, one more time I'm sorry for making you write this again but thanks alot !!

Hi guys are you still here? A friend of mine bought a 910a from US and he can not update it because of the known issues (not ATT sim card). I saw this thread and you made me very happy . But please can you describe the exact process you made so as not to destroy his phone ? :confused :fingers-crossed: I am aware of rooting etc but I prefer to destroy mine phones not my friends'. Also his is going to use it in greece

[Q] Multiview firmware update problem

Hi guys.
I have just received my new Galaxy Note II. Live in Denmark, and on the box it says "approved for nordic operators".
I don't have the multiview function. Holding the back arrow doesn't activate anything, and there is no menu option I haven't turned on, as far as I see.
I heard this was a problem with European models, but I also read that Samsung had issued an update to fix it.
According to the phone, I have the newest software version.
I tried to upgrade firmware via Kies. Updated Kies. Tried both on my PC and Mac. The only message I get is that my device does not support firmware update via Kies. Very annoying.
I made some search on the net, I even tried Kies mini, but without effect.
Does anyone have an idea about what I should try?
I post a screenshot of my system information.
Thanks a lot. Take care.
Agoston
Not exactly sure how to help you but I'm sure it's probably that the update isn't available in your region. I could be wrong but the only way I know of at this point in time to fix this is to root and manually download and apply the update.
The update has been available in Spain just today. They are releasing it in different countries at different times, maybe to avoid problems with their servers.
Just wait a couple of days more.

I was thinking about:
1. downloading the update from here:
http://samsung-updates.com/device/?id=GT-N7100
2. and following these directions:
http://www.todroid.com/update-samsu...elly-bean-firmware-xxalj1-multi-view-feature/
Do you think this can hurt/brick the phone or cause problems?
Thanks,
Agoston
I upgraded to one of the firmwares found on that link but never got the multi-window. Wasted time .

Oh! You had to hold back button for it to appear!

Hmm, does this mean it worked for you? Did you actually follow those links? Which update version did you choose? Which country do you live in?
I had the same problem, just flashed a uk rom.
I contacted Samsung. They told me that the update would arrive in about 2-3 weeks.

GT-s7562i - Chinese version help

Hello
I bought this phone in China and was stupid enought to try the firmware update with odim using the version for a s7562. As you can imagine the phone did not work and I had to go back to the original firmware.
The problem is that none of the versions I found on internet works.
Well, they work more or less. The phone starts and can even receive calls. Even Kies is able to reconize and update the firmaware.
Problem is that the buttons dont work and the touch screen is erratic, making it impossible to effectively use the phone.
Is there any idea what the problem could be? Wrong version of firmware or something else? If the problem is the firmware, is there any chance that I can find the right one?
Thank you very much for your help and attention. See you!

Your best hope is this firmware:

If it doesn't work then I am sorry the best way is to take it to samsung (chinese) center. One of my friend did the same mistake, and he flashed it with stock kernel and took to Samsung for repair.
did you try this firmware, what happened?
As I said we flashed the stock and sent it to Samsung. They fixed it under warranty.

no it was stock unrooted.

[Solved] [Q] Bought new S3 from Amazon, can't update

I recently bought a new "Samsung Galaxy S III 16GB SGH-T999L 4G LTE White - T-Mobile" from Oakland Wireless via Amazon. This is for my fiancé, to replace her broken iPhone 4s. After popping in her T-Mobile sim card, the phone seems to work fine. However, the WiFi calling feature seems to be missing and when we try to perform a software update it ends with "process failed". The installed Android version is 4.1.1.
She went to a T-Mobile store to see if they could help. They were also unable to get the phone to update, and eventually told her that it would never work simply because we didn't buy the phone from T-Mobile. They also told her it would only be a talk and text phone, and wouldn't get data service. However, this last part is clearly false, as she has been using data without any problem.
Does anybody have experience with this issue? Were the folks at the T-Mobile store correct or mistaken?
Also, assuming they are correct and the phone can't be updated over the air, can I just download and install a stock ROM with the latest version and WiFi calling? I have a custom ROM installed on my Galaxy Exhibit, so I am familiar with installing ROMs, but my fiancé doesn't want a custom ROM, she wants stock.
Look in the t mobile s3 section there should be a Odin file you can flash (stock firmware)

Well first of all the T999L released with 4.1.2 so something doesn't seem right, and it may be why its not updating. To get a better idea of the phone model, can you post a screenshot of the about device section? And I assume you are not rooted correct? Download this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.vndnguyen.phoneinfo scroll to firmware info and post it here as well
Thanks for the replies!

I didn't see any stock stuff in the tmobile s3 ROM list, but I did a little more searching and found this thread with stock firmware and OTA's:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1949687
Not sure if I should try to do the OTA update or one of the complete firmwares. Any idea why there is no OTA update for 4.3?

Hmmm. Maybe I got the version wrong or maybe it's not really a T999L? She isn't here with the phone right now, so I'll have to get back to you.
I stopped posting the OTA's simply because they're next to useless for us. Fladhing the firmware via Odin has a much greater success rate snd OTA's are notorious for causing all sorts of problems. Just wasn't worth the trouble to post them anymore.
I attached the screenshots from the phone info app. Looks like maybe it's not the LTE model after all? I looked behind the battery, and it also says SGH-T999 with no "L" on the end.
The strange thing is that it shows an LTE mode in the network settings. However, I've never seen it actually use LTE mode, even though T-mobile says it should work at our location (Seattle). Using the Ookla speed test app, I get ~4 Mbps down (the same speed as my Galaxy Exhibit).
I'm thinking about returning the phone if it is not the correct model. I'm curious though, if I try updating the firmware and it doesn't work, can I restore everything exactly to it's current state before I return it? I don't want them to refuse the return because I messed with the firmware.
Ok looks like you got a Frankenstein phone.. That's an at&t bootloader with a Canadian product/model name & T999 build that I've never heard of.. I would just return it or ask for an exchange, not worth it to keep messing with it
Yup. Another one! And its got a csc from the I9300! The LEM build, if I remember right, was the original stock 4.0.4 firmware. But there is way too much conflicting info there for me to be comfortable recommending much of anything.
I just installed that app to make sure it wasn't giving bad info, and it is showing everything correctly for mine.
As for the LTE showing up in the menu, that isnt too uncommon. If you want to know what you are really connected to, check Settings, About Device, Status, Network Type. Best to do this during a large download.
But aside from it being a franken-phone, everything that is related to the T-Mobile model points to it being a non-LTE T999.

Yeah I noticed that too but guess I forgot to mention it ? so odd how out of nowhere there this wave of franken-phones going around
Thanks for everyone's advice. I'm going to return the phone.
Probably the best choice. Its just more trouble than its worth imo.

Have you found the firmware for this device or has it still not been posted yet? Also, where can I look for it at? I'm assuming it is a website that has all of the firmwares listed for every Samsung device. Unfortunately, i cant remember the name at the moment and Ill kick myself when you say it or if someone else posts it, for not remembering something so often i used to go to. However, I was in the hospital for a couple months for M.R.S.A. and that sucked. Im finally out of there but 2 months out of the loop with this field is like several years missing information in the technology world! So, what site was this posted on again?

Right here. samsung-updates.com/device/?id=SM-T807P now can you upload the latest one to mega upload or mediafire? Then I can perhaps extract whats needed but still may take a while as beans or chainfire hasnt been porting cfautoroot to some devices. I could try to preroot it, but it may not work.
Root for SM-T807P
I got tired of waiting around for CF-Auto-Root to come out with a package so I made my own. It's all based off the CF-Auto-Root that I modified using another device that uses the same chip as the T807P.
I am in the process of testing it. So far I've come up with one bug which causes the DHCP wifi loop, but it was an easy fix. Once you have root access just change the permissions on the /system/etc/dhcpcd/dhcpcd-run-hooks file to "execute" by "user" "group" and "others" by using a root file explorer. It fixes the "obtaining ip address loop" for wifi.
All the standard legal stuff like - I am not responsible if you brick your device or if the root doesn't work.
Here is the link to the file I used with Odin to flash the CF-Auto-Root for my T807P.
