Hi
I bought Zenfone 2 - Z00AD (4GB ram, 32GB rom, 1,8Mhz), it works fine but I can't find software update option. Simply it is not where it supposed to be.
I would really like to update it because i heard that battery is better after update. Can somebody give me some advice?

Thanks a lot!
hi
i have same problem , anybody can help us?
I hope that someone knows how to help us.
Where from you buy?
I bought ZF2 at GearBest.com. And you?
i bought my ZF2 at TinyDeal.Com
Howdy lads.
I have bought my exact same model from dealsprime and I also had the same issue due to the fact that it's the Chinese model with a flashed WW firmware :/ When I went into the recovery mode it actually said that my firmware was the CN 2.13 version but under the software model details it showed WW 2.15 version. So you can't actually update it OTA because of this sadly.
I was able to safely update to the latest update with ease though, it isn't difficult and I will point you into the right direction.
I am unable to copy and paste the link here due to the fact that I have under 10 posts so type this into google and it should be the first link: "how-to-update-ota-without-bootloop-on-rooted-zenfone2"
This carefully explains what you need before updating and even gives links to each file/programs that are required.
I was very unsure weather to take the risk doing it this way but I decided to go for it.. and it worked every time I wanted to update my phone ^^
BUT! Don't bother with update files. only download the FULL firmware which is over 1gb and just flash it. It will not wipe any of your files or data so no need to worry about that:good:
Also I only needed to follow the first 8 sections so you won't need to do the 9th,10th or 11th sections.
It is always recommended to wipe cache partition after flashing also ^^
This is the only method that has worked for me with this phone model after trying at least 6 other methods which all fail.
Give it a shot and don't be scared! But just read carefully and do as he says ^^
Irish_PXzyan thank you!!! I did it step by step and it worked!
Thanks again.
How can I wipe cache partition?
Can I make OTA update after that, now I see UPDATE option?
The steps to wipe cache at http://www.asus.com/zentalk/foru ... hlight=wipe%2Bcache is a little outdated.
The updated steps of wiping the cache is listed as below:
Switch Off the Phone.
Press and hold "Power + Volume Up", release only power key after your phone vibrates and keep volume key pressed till you see ASUS Logo.
System shows the mode at the top as “Normal mode”.
Change the mode to recovery mode with the help ofvolume keys, select recovery mode with power key,
System will restart and you will see android logowith error message,
Press and hold “Volume Down + Power” key and while keeping those two pressed, press and release Volume Up key. System will now enter into recovery mode.
Select wipe cache partition (volume up/down tomove; power button to select), Process will start and will take approx.8-10 minutes.
After completion select reboot system now.
Your welcome ^^
Now enjoy the updates!!
You will have to do this every time you want a new update so you will never be able OTA sadly, at least from my experience I have yet to find a way to do this.

Hello, I have just received my Zenfone 2 today. I bought it from a Chinese website. It comes with 32GB ROM and 4GB RAM. It has all the Google Services installed even when you try to reset it they are still installed. Everything is working fine, except when I try to disable an application the phone reboots after I click "OK" and the application doesn't actually disable, that's the issue I'm having at the moment. But for the question, I was wondering how could I update my phone? Is there anyway to update it automaticly or do I have to upgrade it using USB Cable. If so, wich version (CN or WW) that I should install when Updating? Because when I asked the website they said it is CN and when I got to About device and go to build number it says WW.
I think they have flashed it to WW firmware to get the Google Apps. I'm not really sure! But wich updates should I install thought? And I also don't get the "Check for update" button.
Anyone? Please help

I think you can just download the latest WW stock manually (as once you are with WW, the device expects it), rename to MOFD_SDUPDATE.zip on the root of your MicroSD card and then reboot to recovery to allow it to get picked up.
Hope this helps.

Thank you so much for your reply. Well the device says that it is CN when I go to recovery mode, even the packaging that came with it such as the manual is in chinese. Even the website says it is chinese version. But for some reason it has the Google apps installed just like the WW even if you factory reset it. Wich one should I pick then? CN or WW to update my phone. And for the build number there's WW not CN

Seems, depending on how they did it, they may have flashed the WW recovery as well. If not, you can still do that (step 3).

Hi, thank you so much for helping me out joel.
Well, I'm actually new to this I have no idea what all this is.
How to install the OTA thought? After downloading Z00A OTA and renaming it what should I do?

From there, turn the phone off, and wait a minute.
Then, hold down the vol-up button, and press the power button holding that too.
When the phone starts to vibrate, can let go of power, but keep holdin onto vol-dn until you get to Fastboot (first screen past the splashscreen).
Press Volume-Down twice, and press the power button again. As long as the downlaod is renamed and on the root of the MicroSD, recovery will now open, and start to process the update.
Hey folks,
Thanks for looking into this thread. I have a galaxy tab pro 8.4 wifi (t320). I had CM12 on it but my cousin accidentally factory reset everything and so when I try to press power+down it gives me a warning (image link: http://i.imgur.com/lo0Plgr.jpg) that says "Downloading a custom OS can cause critical problems etc. If you want to download a custom os press volume up to cancel press volume down. If I try to cancel, I'm basically stuck at the cm 12 logo where it just keeps on going round and round and....round.
Any idea on what to do? At this point I simply want to be up and running and don't care about root and so if I have to return to stock I have no problem.
Cheers!
Attach it to your computer and try adb.
Command adb reboot recovery.
Copy the cm12 rom you want to the devices and install it should most likely do the trick

I used to have TWRP but I don't think the recovery is there anymore. When I try to press power + volume down I just get the screen I linked to below, not twrp.

Hi, thanks so much for your reply. I went to youmobile and it says that there is no firmware available for my version (8.4 wifi-t320) I did find it in sammobile though. Yet in it, it gives many different countries. I got my tab 8.4 as a gift and am not sure which country it's from. Is there any way of finding out? I do have my serial number for the tab pro. And if it isn't possible to find out can I just flash any country's firmware considering that it's a wifi only device? Will this have any negative ramifications?
Also, is there a update guide to flashing stock firmware via odin tool if you're not sure usb debugging is turned on? As I understand it, it has to be on but because my cousin factory reset my phone I have no way of booting into cm 12 and checking.
I apologize for my lack of knowledge. I'm very new to this. Again, thanks a lot!
Isn't the recovery combination POWER+VOLUP? Just get in there, wipe things clean and flash CM12.1 all over.
If that won't do, use Odin to flash any T320 firmware - region doesn't matter much. I usually choose the latest from one of the EU countries for less bloat.

Hey there,
I'm new on xda. I see at least im not alone to have G8, this is great !
Recently, I received an update for RIO-L01C02B140 (G8 double sim and rooted device with TWRP) of 150Mo. I clicked the update button but when my phone restarted it just booted on TWRP and didnt boot on system anymore.
Thankfully, looks like someone here had the same problem and with the answer of another member I could fix my device. (the thread)
But now i see that the update is still undone, so is there a way i can do it safely? I'm afraid if i click it, it goes wrong again. I dont think it's a major update but still it should be cool to be able to make updates...
Thanks for eventual replies
1. downloaded the original Stock Rom from http://forum.xda-developers.com/gx8/how-to/g8-g7-plus-official-roms-europe-t3294362
2. Re ziped the dload folder to a NTFS formated SD card
3. Turn off the phone
4. press Vol up + Vol down + power
5. The phone start´s with flashing
If it is not open bootloader need to open !!!
you must be a stock recovery !!!
Hello, I flashed CM14 the other day, and after a problem I had to flash it again. It booted just right, and I remembered people on the CM14 thread saying if you factory reset the phone after flashing it would increase battery life, so I did; But the device didn't boot back into android, and instead went into TWRP. I thought it was just a bug so I restarted, back into TWRP again. So I clean-reflashed the rom, and it didn't even boot then, got back into TWRP. So I restored a previous full backup I had, TWRP again. I thought flashing the MM Blobs again would reflash the boot img, so I did, but the device won't even boot into fastboot; goes directly into TWRP. And I can't do anything. Please help :'(
I have a Zenfone 2 ZE551ML 4gb 1.8ghz, if that helps. MM Blobs too.

You Still Having problems ?
If you have twrp - press reboot - power off in twrp .
Leave off ten seconds -- press power and vol+ -- release power when 2 buzzes -- release vol+ at boot up screen.
You should be in bootloader now !
Quickest way to get back to system and restore a back up is then to use the modder tool by giovix :good:
flash back stock recovery and boot.img from selection in modder.
Then reflash twrp in modder and root again in modder .
reboot to twrp --restore old mm blob back up:good:
enjoy!

Hey all,
Can I use this procedure on a completely stock ASUS_Z00AD phone which is stuck in the bootloader?
We have some very emotional family pictures on the internal memory and can't afford taking chances losing them?
Thanks for any information.

Unfortunately no. It is the wife's phone and i can only touch it when it is broken. You know how it is. All I am sure about it that there are no developer options enabled.

Well , you need to ask the missus if she ever updated it :good: and when because this tool is for M only !
In the meantime ,scroll in bootloader to reboot recovery, press power off once - when it boots to dead android -- press power and vol+ together for five secs , release vol+
you should be in recovery now .
does it say anything in the bottom left corner ? top left build number

Ok i just tested this method just for you on my 551
I have UL-Z00A-4.21.40.184-user.zip.zip(you use your own based on what is stated in recovery) on external sd. remember to add an extra .zip on the end- written on pc too first before transfering sd to phone. then have inserted into phone
I am on .184 M
Then
Selected from bootloader to go to recovery -- at dead android , pressed vol+ and power five secs then released vol+ - now in recovery.
In recovery , select update from sd , navigate to the firmware and proceed.
Took approx fifteen mins and all my fone data was the same.
Again , id like to state , my phone was working normally before this procedure and whether yours will is not guaranteed and the risk is entirely yours , as always
Help guys, my phone wont boot up. It only vibrates when u press power button.
Made a mistake by upgrading my phone to marshmallow. What i din is put the fw file to internal memory, then re start my phone and it detects the system upgrade, press ok and phone goes to twrp recovery to flash the rom. But then after, my phone went off and it wont boot up.

The mistake you made was not flashing back stock recovery first . Everything would be fine now if you did
If no bootloader , you are bricked - lots of unbricking threads on here , 1 by suckhwant and 1 by summit :good:
I have an ubricking thread here but i think with the mistake you already made , you better do some reading first ps , mine is for 551 only --the files included are for 551 only --

Very new to this, and having the same problem with my Moto E4. I ended up deleting my os by accident, so I've installed a custom rom and gapps multiple times, but when I reboot after installation, it just goes right back into twrps. Could someone walk me through the steps?
hello,
I tried to flash twrp to my p605 but when I boot to recovery I get this message " Recovery is not Seandroid Enforcing".
The only solution is to reflash twrp checking autoboot to fix problem. I have tried various versions of twrp. how I could fix this problem?
I am not rooted and I attach some info of my device.
thanks a lot.
any idea please?

It is likely you used the wrong TWRP for your Note (LTE version for P605). Be sure to use this xda forum for version and instructions. Sadly I have also made this error on various devices I have owned over the years. lol

The first method is to boot into recovery and wipe data and reset to factory. The drawback here is you lose (probably) all your data, and it may not work then you have to try the second method anyway.
1: Power off your Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1. Make sure that it's completely turned off, this is the tricky part because of the bootloop. It takes patience and timing.
2: Now press; power, home and volume up to enter the recovery mode
3: Hold the buttons for at least 5 seconds until the android logo appears on the screen
4: The screen will be redirected to the recovery mode of your Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1
Use the volume button to navigate between the options and power button to select the highlighted option.
The second method, especially if that does not work, is to use ODIN to re-flash stock firmware onto your device. That is a process that using search will get you great detailed instructions, much better than I can describe.
Linuxmon
(search is your friend)
thanks for your time to help me. i downlaod twrp files from here: https://twrp.me/devices/samsunggalaxynote1012014qcom.html
I wonder if the new security udpate of february 2017 causes problems of installing twrp.
i will consider if i will try one of these methods.
