A lot of fuss was made over the "ImageSense" chip in the One series, especially the One X and One S, but when an HTC tweet mentioned a blog post (also by HTC employees) where they took it out on a trip and took some shots I was eager to see the results. The first impression was that the thumbnails looked great so I clicked through to the full-size images and ......... that's where I sat in shock at how really poor the image quality was. There was noise in around 50% of the image, lack of detail in most areas and it just plain sucked.
I commented on the article, as did others, all commenting on how poor it was for a supposed fantastic camera with all new ImageSense chip. After a while the person who posted the photos replied saying they were uploaded in reduced quality to save on load times and that full versions would be uploaded soon. At that time the full size images that I'd seen were removed. No new images were posted the last time I looked and as I now own the One X I've seen for myself that, sadly, this is the actual quality of the camera. No matter the light or subject I have noise and lost detail all over.
Is my experience here unique or are others finding that, for a supposedly fantastic camera phone with new chip specifically for photos, it just plain sucks?
Photos taken with HOX have a lot of noise indeed.. Sadly, HOX camera cannot compare to my ex iPhone 4s' camera.
EDIT: you might wanna look into that thread.
It's not that the sensor is bad, it's just really really bad compression on the pictures that is applied by the stock camera. Using a different camera app yields much sharper images.
Can you be more specific what app are you using? Isn't compression done before image even reaches any app?
Of course not, compression is performed only when dumping the image to storage. Until then, it's only RAW memory.
I'm facing the same issue now.. I must try another Photo APP...
Any ideas?!
Maybe is the compression you can try to use camera fv-5

I also feel that the camera isnt up to the standard as my old iPhone 4 was. Thought it was just me.
Anyone have a suggestion for a good app that will decrease noise on photo's?
I have problem too

Camera of HTC One X is one of the worst camera since HD2, even HD2 has better camera. The only good thing here is HDR mode, which is also not so good.
One X produces photos with so much noise, dynamic range varies and contrast is bad, and on direct light cant compare even with old Blackberry phones like 9780 or 9800 torch. Colors turn to be cold/blue. Photos are washed out etc etc There are no life in photos.
One X and One followed with BIG ADVERTISEMENTS and MARKETING CAMPAIGN, they are not good camera phones. I was naive to buy it. Now im searching to replace with Incredible S or Sensation even HD2.
HTC Sensation equiped with much better camera. Blacberry 9810 and 9800 has 10x better cameras. Not to mention N8 or E7 Nokia.
Yes, but your sig still says bless HTC..
I changed to SGS4 and the camera is the best i'e seen.. think about doing the same. No hope for Hox..
Cheers!

I have made AWESOME pictures with the cyanogenmod camera APP. And now I reverted to stock and the only difference I get is that images are no longer sharper but after an auto enhance edit I get some pretty nice colors and I'm glad with the pictures again.. I wasn't glad with the macro shooting of cyanogenmod and I wasn't glad with the system overall that's why I got to stock.
Thanks ,Dan.

funny but im not giving up on HTC as ive mentioned.
i will buy sensation or one v.
it is very bizzare company politics of HTC to announce three new models One v, one s and One x and ONE V which is 'value model' has way better camera than 'superior' A class ONE X.
and what we are... donkeys... it is all about some software (loaded on purpose because of that competition stuff) i suppose, same chip, same camera software two different photo qualities,

I however as mentioned plumped for the cheaper WinCE unit.

Just shove a Nexus 7 in the gap, 3.5ml to phono to your amp, 12v micro USB car adaptor, problem solved xD

Yup cheaper, but you got a problem there. No remote for the buttons on the steering wheel. When used to those, its hard to get rid of
And the sound output is much worse compared.

Android 2.2 6,5" CAR Device
There is an Android 2.2 800Mhz 256MB 8GB 6,2" TFT CAR DVD on sale (800 USD to door in Russia) that I have bought recently and after some software installations it does deliver what I have wanted to have in the car.
Nevertheless there are a few major complaints to its performance: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cx53a6N7_ws
As well there are several other minor things that would be great to change if possible.
If there is someone interested and able to cook a custom ROM for this device - I can send this device for free as a gift and for experiments. We really want a good ROM for this CA-Fi Car Stereo and the guy's in China don't seem caring enough.
I will check this thread once in a while and provide contact details for anyone interested in developing this device. It is very close to being a great thing for a CAR!
I have updated my email in the XDA profile so you can as well use this option to contact me.
PS
I Have a ROM update file (192MB) that came from the device vendor (dealer). I can send it out for revision.
The way to install this rom on the car stereo is to extract files to the root of a microSD card, insert it, switch off the device, then, while holding the screen tapped, power on – the device starts an install mode. When finished it asks for screen calibration and restarts with a new rom as after a hard reset (erases everything).
And there is the Parrot as well.
i've gone down the route of car pc etc, it was running win 7.
to be honest, they're wayyy to much fuss and aggro.
the sound quality sucked, the screen was **** (it was cheap - £250 "cheap") and broke shortly after a year of having it.
a decent head unit, with either apt x bluetooth dongle plugged in, or just the 3.5mm with hox is much much better. sound quality is way better, and i don't have to put up with some slow 800mhz cpu when all i want is to be driving whilst listening to music
just a fyi for those considering, its a huge cost, for not actually that much benefit (unless you live in your car)
CA-Fi Android Car Radio
I understand you if you only need to have music playing while driving, as well as some people who still prefer using monochrome cell phones. This is a matter of needs.
Regarding the sound quality of this particular CA-Fi device its surprisingly fine. I use its 4x45W out lines conneted directly to car OEM speakers (its a Chrysler PT) and the subwoofer RCA out channel connected via a 1KW Kenwood amplifier to a large Polk Audio woofer. With the available in this device GEQ and Bass/Treble settings the unit provides perfectly sharp and clear sound in the high+mid ranges for the OEM speakers that in company with the powerful sub make a really impressive rich and clear sound scene with no distortion at any volume.
This sound setup is very easy and efficient. Honestly, to my hearing it is not lacking comparing to my previous JVC Mosfet 192/24 DAC car stereo that was routed through amplifiers for all channels to Focal speakers instead of the OEM... That was too much trouble for the gained advantage. Again, depending on the needs. Trully - the sound of this Android Radio is fine, a sound of a branded Hi-Fi car stereo.
And if you had a Win7 Car PC setup that is quite complicated to arrange you should agree that this easy one-box Android PC solution is a great idea. It provides the music and all the tablet PC advantages. It's really nice after switching on the ignition to hear from your car that you have a new e-mail arrived, and enjoy other goodies like that.

yes, I considered the Parrot, but found it limited for modifications and with a too small screen. There is as well a Clarion at present under development, but it does not appeal to me neither. It is a concept from the Clarion Malaysia division and most likely will be limited for modifications; if it will ever be released at all:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xNQC56S5NFI
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N1TFiy2Dsdg
I really have spent some plenty of time on the web before selecting this CA-Fi device and I couldnt find anything better. To be honest I even went trough a mistake and loss of money by ordering an Android/WinCE dual OS device first (by the way its refferted to above in this thread). Result - I installed it into my dad's car (its better than his OEM 2003 Mercedes device anyway). But that one is wierd. My advice: be aware not to get one of those by mistake. For example, mine had GPS only in WinCE and 3G only in Android - so I couldnt have the Navigation system working along with traffic updates.... this spoiled everything for me.
PS
Important to know that CA-Fi offer a few dozens of versions of the same model with different front panels to match many of original car dashboards without the need of modifying the panels - the device fits in as a replacement for the OEM unit! As well for those who think that there are many different Android car stereos to choose from - this may be the same model with different front facing.

hey guys, i am a current lg g2 user. ie a very good phone but i want to upgrade because a few things that bothers me and i want to know if m8 have the same problems too.
for me m8 is one of the best of 2014 one thing that i didnt liked is that isnt waterproof, but i can live with that.
i wanted to buy a xperia z2 but the overheating problem and crap recording audio in concerts is a big deal for me.
and about gs5, i prefer to stick with my g2, and g3 is not an option for a few reasons.
so, when i go in some concerts i like to record a video or two, in my g2 the loud music almost ruins the video, i want to know if i can trust m8 to do these recordings.
and what about the speed that camera can take a picture? in my g2 i just cant take a picture of something fast moving, m8 have the ability to freeze something in a pic?
thanks.

regarding mic in M8 this thread will help you

The most useful camera trick for me was being able to refocus pictures after taking them.
And the M9 does not support that. I do see that the picture quality is better than the M8. But I use this feature so much along with the other features made possible because of the DUO Camera. No M9 for me!! (Unless something changes)
Anyone else disappointed with the M9 (it feels like a... M7.5, if you already have the M8 ) for whatever reason ?
There is an app 4 that
Im disappointed with the m9 as well
You can download the Bokeh camera... Open the camera app.. click on the Camera mode button (4 round circles in the bottom left of the screen, Click the big + sign... D/L'd the Bokeh camera.
Ive had this M9 now for 2 days, the first m9 I had went back for overheating, even after the 340MB update.. it didnt help the overheating
Coming from an M8 I was aware that the M9 is an incremental update, not a new flagship, but I love the audio and the awesome 4 UltraPixel Cam, so why the hell did HTC give into the UltraPixel Bashing and join the wagon train of MegaPixels, Why didnt HTC develop a 6 or even an 8 Ultrapixel camera. As a result of this cowardice theyve f++ked the camera up big time.
I followed the guide given here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=59821245&postcount=274
As well as experimented and tried and tested it, to no avail.. and as a result Im stuck with a device worse than what they released last year;
A 20MPx image I took, looks worse a 5Mpx from the HTC desire, pure mush on the details, yet an 8Mpx can Rarely look stunning (Sorry Ive tried but cant upload any pics)
If anyone can give me a reason to keep the M9, please convince me, or I may send it to eBay.
How about anyone else
I would give you my M8 for your M9

I'm currently sporting a badly purple tinting M7 and was hoping to upgrade to the M9. However, from multiple trips to T-Mobile and Costco to play with one, I've noticed that the FastFullHD capture on the M8 looks better than the one on the M9. Of course this is judging from the default gallery player on the respective phones' screens.
I didn't bother to check the software versions on the M8 (on Lollipop), but the M9 was on T-Mobile software v. 1.32.531.33. I know that the ViperOneM9 is currently at 1.32.401.17.
Any thoughts/opinions on the FastFullHD performance for this phone and possible suggestions for tweaking like hamdir's image capture tweaks?
