I am currently using JellyBam, as it allows one to select a mobile network operator ( Settings>Wireless & Networks>More> Mobile Network Settings ) but it mobile hot spot and bluetooth tethering don't work.
Does anyone know of any other ROMS that allow one to select the phone network operator? On stock, and the other ROMs I've look at, it is greyed out...
thanks,
jf
You won't find it on any of the AT&T based ROMs.
When you say "AT&T based" are you referring to touchjiz or ANY rom on the AT&T S3. Just to clarify for anyone who may be reading this.
Any ROM that runs on the AT&T GS3, is OK with me!
And I have found one so far, so its obviously not 'won't find any.'
thanks.

JellyBam is not based on the AT&T stock ROM. It is based on AOKP and CyanogenMod.
I have not tested enough ROMs to be a 100% sure, but I think AT&T disables this option in its stock ROM. If so, you probably won't find any AT&T-based ROM with this capability.
But you might want to look at Canadian-based ROMs (those that as Rogers-based, Telus-based or Bell-based). The mobile network operator setting isn't grayed out on my Rogers stock ROM (but I have a Canadian phone, this may or may not have something to do with that). Examples of ROMs you may want to try that are Touchwiz-based but not based on stock AT&T:
- Dandroid
- i747z
- I747MVLDLK4_DJJOHNNYBLAZE_MODV1
- Bertiespeed
I'd love to be on the Google Edition ROM but whats keeping me back is no WiFi calling, and i need it because its a necessity for me, I would love to try and help and such. I'm thinking it should be possible as of it has a TW kernel and such. Any help?

Nope. Not gonna happen. At least, that has been the conclusion in the other 15 or so threads asking for WiFi calling in any other ROMs besides the stock(ish) T-Mobile TW ROMs... If WiFi calling is a necessity to you, you can pretty much give up on the GE ROMs, AOSP, other carrier's TouchWiz ROMs, etc... One option that DOES work as far as making/receiving calls without the built-in WiFi calling though would be to use GrooveIP forwarded to your Google Chat account, then set your carrier call forwarding to go to your Google Voice number. You can turn Airplane mode on, then set your WiFi on and still be able to receive calls on both your cellular number and Google Voice number. The only thing about that though is that although you can receive calls on both numbers, you can only call out using your GV number. Also, you'd have to toggle airplane mode to receive text messages to your cell number.

Well i saw this guy working on it and it and he said he had it working on other sammy roms..... and its been done before and i would so try to work on it right now. couldnt we just compare say stock GT-i9505 and SGH-M919 roms, and find the files that are in the tmo rom and not in the GT-i9505 rom?

There are a few peoples working very hard to do just that. Unfortunately tmobile spread all the necessary files through out the framework. It takes time but I'm sure it will be done. There's a few thread in the developments section as well as the app/theme section if you want to follow it.

It's no where as easy as your trying to make it seem. It will happen. Judy not any time soon.so you have no choice but to use a stock Rom. Plus all this could of been answered with a simple search. This question has been asked tons of times.

True, they are. But even the stock TouchWiz camera doesn't fully work on the GE ROMs. I know the camera has nothing to do with WiFi calling, just pointing out the fact that even though they're both built into the TouchWiz framework, the gutted version of TouchWiz we know as the Google Edition is sufficiently different so as to have some pretty significant obstacles to overcome when porting features to it versus other Stock TW.

not only that, 4.3 google edition roms have the touchwiz base fully removed, which makes me believe that whatever touchwiz code is in 4.2 google edition roms, is just leftovers

Hmm didnt know that... Doesn't the HTC One Have WiFi Calling too? So they made that possible though and that means its not just TouchWiz. it is on 4.1.2 though.. But there isnt much of a difference between 4.1 and 4.2, isnt there a big difference in 4.3 though?

I wouldn't say that, there are many things that work with both us and them. Such as Android OS, Snapdragon 600, WiFi Calling, etc etc.

Merely my point is with WiFI calling, and the fact that they both have snapdragon 600 SoC, which i believe have the WiFi, Bluetooth, LTE and so on all on the chip. so wouldnt the drivers and ways that they use wifi bluetooth gps and ect be the same? they also made a flashable zip for the HTC One and i looked at it and grabbed all the same named files from the S4, and made myself a flashable zip (i think) and im waiting for the moment that i feel like flashing a 4.2.2 rom that doesnt have wifi calling and then ill flash it.

just because they have the same hardware and some same features (wifi calling mainly) doesnt mean they are implemented in the same way. the code is completely different. Like i said before, its not as simple as comparing the two roms and seeing the differences. There are plenty of devs working on this issue, and you dont think they havent tried doing what your about to do? Your asking for a bricked phone

If at all it bricks the phone then it'll be a soft brick because all it'll do is either add or replace files. Maybe they haven't tried it before. Maybe my solution works. maybe it doesn't. Yes i know code will be different but not all of the code will be. if you can find the similar code maybe it'll help.

If you flashed the Stock T-Mobile ROM, and have a T-Mo SIM, you should have the setting - there isn't an "app".
Go to Settings > Connections > More networks > Wi-Fi Calling Settings.
You should be able to turn it on or off and then set your preferences.
Remember it has to be a Stock ROM, none of the non-Stock ROMs support Wi-Fi calling.

Sorry for my spreading of misinformation. I thought I had read that it was only Stock. Is it that the ROM must be TouchWiz based? Is that the issue - so no AOSP, CM nor GPE?
As to the APK, I thought he was asking about an APP he had to run.
Again, sorry, and thanks for the correction.

Technically, its been made available for other platforms - My wife's HTC Sensation has it. But yeah, on the Samsung S4 only the TW based ROMs have it.

Supposedly there will be a app on the Play Store in the future.

There is no apk yet.....All US T-Mobile TW roms have WiFi Calling. Only international doesnt
I remember on my old HD2 there was a thread where Wi-Fi calling was added to CM7 and I think also on CM9. Maybe a developer can get some ideas to get it to work on aosp?

I think what it is is that T-Mobile had the feature baked into whatever custom interface the phone manufacturer was using. With the HTC phone, it was probably baked into Sense. In the case of Samsung phones, they were baked into TouchWiz. Recently, the ability was added to iOS 8, adding recent iPhones to the capable list.
I may be wrong, but I think it was a way to discourage tinkering because they were trying to encourage people to take up expensive flagship phones. If WiFi Calling could be plastered to just any old GSM phone, the more expensive phones lose their appeal.
I've been using EchoeROM to have the s5 software features on my Galaxy S4, but I miss the WiFi calling feature that T-Mobile has with its stock rom. Does anyone know of a custom rom that has the cool features of the S5, but also allows WiFi calling?
Hey, I know I'm a new user and all, but just wondering if anyone would answer my question? Please?
There isnt one yet, most dont focus on the wifi calling part because its a pain to integrate. Its one of the reasons why I stayed on 4.4.4

Thanks for letting me know. I'm hoping that someone will do one soon, but I'm enjoying the s5 features too much to go back to 4.4.4.
Are there any Android 6 ROMs that support Wifi calling on T-Mobile? I have searched multiple threads and posted (polite) queries but to no avail. Unfortunately I rely on the wifi calling feature and am still sitting on an old version of Skydragon.
Few of the more popular Sense ROMs are getting updated frequently and it has been weeks since the M9 and M8 updates were released so I'm wondering if there's a problem with porting over this feature.

@xunholyx Thanks! I really appreciate you taking the time to respond. Would it be possible to add that link to the first post in that thread? The thread is about 3,000 pages long and searching the thread search function doesn't make finding such info easy.
I've installed the ROM and it works great. I've used Viper before and was hoping to switch back once Marshmallow was available with T-Mobile support...now I'm back!
