So my stock, rooted boot animation was getting boring So, I saw a cool Iron Man JARVIS boot that I wanted on my SM-T800 but it was .ZIP and apparently Samsung only use QMG so I open Rom Tool Box, then went to Rom Extras and then Samsung and select to install Binarys for .ZIP instead of QMG - it rebooted and there was a black screen and just boot sound. I then placed the .zip files and rebooted and it was the same, black screen no image and just sound. So I tried to get my original boot screen back and tried to do the recover QMG option, only TWRP loads does something for 2 seconds I see red failed writing and my Tab reboots to nothing but a black screen and boot sound. I've tried multiple times and it never works. I've pasted my original Samsungboot.qmg back into /system/media (where I took it from) but it still don't work.
As is evident, I'm a complete noob, so really need some help here and I figured one of you good gentlemen would help me. I'll state it again, I'm a noob (or idiot for messing with what I don't know, whatever you want to call it) so some advice or help I can follow would be much appreciated. Thanks guys.
Make sure you set the permissions of the files to the same as the rest in that folder.
Also wipe cache and dalvik in twrp.
Ok done both of those and it's still just a black screen with boot sound on start up.
Thanks for the help so far man, I really appreciate it.

The easiest way to fix is to just reflash the stock rom then reroot.
Aw man. Was hoping to avoid that.
Where would I find the stock ROM?
Is it this that I need Ashyx? http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/download/49140/T800XXU1BOCC_T800BTU1BOC1_BTU/

Why, it won't affect your personal data?
Are you UK Region?
I thought it would delete everything? Yes, I'm in the UK.
Thanks for the help man.
Ashyx, I just flash that file with Odin the same way I did when I used your Root tutorial right?
I's still be able to follow the below guide to gain root again, yes?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-s/development/root-cf-autoroot-twrp-t800-t3079488
Or could I use TWRP that installed with your guide to install the above file?
You can use Flashfire to install, it will root at the same time or just root afterwards with odin if you have already tripped Knox.
I've never used Flashfire, can't see any guides, would be more confortable with Odin Since I've used it before.
Would I need to install TWRP again? Would like to just follow your whole guife again, not much chance of me messing it up then. Yeah I've already trippes Knox, so not worried about that. Thanks for your help man.
In that case just install with odin and then run cf_autoroot.
Ok I'll do that. Thanks man.
Quick update, to say that it did indeed fix the error, so thanks Ashyx.

I am rooted and have twrp, and the android market installed. I would like to go back to bone stock.
I can just reset the KF under device right? How do I uninstall twrp?
Thanks
No thats incorrect you dont just reset the device you must wipe well and flash stock I must tell you numerous people are bricking themselves fairly bad attempting to do the same personally I would avoid it just flash modaco instead other than that the method to return to stock is in the second post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1638452
And actually it might even be a safer approach to revert to stock from a stock like rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1439916
Bricked beyond all recognition baby!

These are wise words indeed. Installed Twrp and MiUI ics rom and played with it but gave up after day or so and was headed back to stock... battery was/is apparently too low AND I keep getting 2 force close errors for (right after boot) ...
-android.process.acore

(happens right after the UI starts loading ... if Im quick enough I can get one of the homescreen apps to load, but I notice the settings menu item or none of the software buttons for home, etc are there
... then after I click the force close button it just starts to boot again... not enough time to try to get twrp back on to handle boot so I can wipe and try to flash update.zip (the fires stock rom).
Oh well, its only 200.00 and I'll be getting another one I guess. glad it was with this and NOT one of my smartphones I tinker with from time to time. lesson learned about playing with rom flashing when battery is low I guess.

Even if you want to go back to pure stock, keeping/reinstalling both TWRP and FFF are the safest and smartest things to do.

The only mention of ADB is "adb push C:\kfu\software\update-kindle-6.3.1_D01E_4107720.bin /sdcard/update.zip", which you can easily avoid if you don't want to touch ADB.
Just rename your downloaded file to update.zip (watch out for the file extension, Windows hides most of them on default settings), then just copy it into your KF like you do any other file. Do not place it in any subfolder.
Be sure to follow the steps carefully, or else you may end up with a soft brick (fixable).

It boots in to the 6.2.2 software, but these errors pop up and force close then eventually does a restart. Dammit!

No, that's not all you should do to get back to stock... follow ALL the STEPS. Wiping is VERY important. Ie, don't just rename the file to update.zip and flash it right away, or you'll most likely end up with a soft brick. I was only clarifying that one specific step.

Just a side note after restoring to stock you need to then perform a factory restore as well which will wipe your sd card if all goes well it should smooth out from there

Hello all,
I am facing problems with my SIII right now. I was running AOKP but due to the bluetooth not being able to sync with my stereo, I decided to go back to stock rooted. I just flashed back the stock rooted image using Odin, but now my phone sits at the Samsung screen with the blue notification light on. I have tried rebooting, and it gets to this point (after the rethink possible screen) and just sits. I am thinking another flash in Odin is in order? Is there a stock, non root image I can flash via odin? I am just really lost for ideas right now and any input would be appreciated! Thanks!
Update:
I tried flashing with odin again and this time I got a failed. It was in the process of flashing the "system". I am kinda starting to freak out. I am hoping that it's just the file I'm using (though it just worked not even a few days ago.) I am trying again and if this one bombs out, I think I am going to try a different file. The one I am downloading to try next is the "stock unroot" from the how-to video. Anyone have any luck with this?
Another Update:
I just re-flashed with odin, this time it says it successfully completed but once again it's stuck at the flashing Samsung logo with the indicator led on.... I am starting to really freak out lol. I have another file downloading that is supposedly just stock, no root or anything...

I've always noticed the LED being on during boot (or some of the boot) and it was also on when I had a bootloop during cm9 so I don't think it means anything.
Fair enough, I guess I never paid that much attention till now when things don't work heh. I do recall reading about someone else having the similar issue using odin...I am trying to find the post and if there was any follow up on it.

Correction : Used that link you had posted, it was still stuck so I loaded up the toolkit and used option 20 for reboot options to force it into default recovery, wiped data & cache from there and let it reboot, it seemed to have hung but waited a few minutes and it came back to life. Back to complete stock here now, hope it works for you.

When you say toolkit are you talking about the one from the thread labled [SAMSUNG GALAXY S3 QCOM TOOLKIT V2.3] Drivers Backup Root CWM BusyBox + MORE [ATT]? And if so you just opened it and used option 20? nothing else? This sounds great if it works hehe.

Should have explained a bit better. Yes that toolkit
While it was stuck at samsung screen.
1 For AT&T (Obviously)
20 For reboot options
1 For recovery.
Then wipe data/cache
Then wiped cache (no idea why)
then rebooted.
When i did an Odin to stock I also froze on the Samsung logo. I had to boot to recovery and do a factory reset I side recovery to get it to boot. Keep in mind everything will be deleted though
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda premium
That is exelent. I am downloading the toolkit right now and will report back shortly.
Once you got it to boot, did you still have root? I am wondering if you flashing the "stock rom" that I posted, if that had any impact. I have only pushed the root66 file, so I am expecting root when(if XD) I get this thing going again. I appreciate you being more thorough with your instructions, and will report back with my results as soon as I get some
Also, are we loners on this? I am not seeing any other posts about going back to stock/stock rooted from modded roms using odin? I am trying to figure out the best method to go back to stock. I made a nandroid and I am sure that would work, but all of this word about having to flash different kernels and bluetooth/wifi drivers to get stock working properly makes me wonder if just using odin is the easiest method, as it restores everything on the phone (to my knowledge).

UPDATE:Nvm, google hehe. I just did the factory reset...Things are looking good so far, the haptic lights turned on at least...BOOM! We are good gentlemen. It looks like all it took was the recovery wipe. This is great news! I will try to figure out how to mark this as solved, and you crash822, you get a thanks
NP sir. We all have to start somewhere. Luckily for me I was already planning on doing a full wipe so I backed up everything I wanted to keep from my phone onto my computer before using odin.
I seem to be having the same issue. I've downloaded the toolkit as you guys have suggested. are you guys in download mode on the phone while you use this? it seems to want me to be in debugging mode and i can't get to that. I've tried a factory reset with no luck.

SOLUTION FOUND, much thanks to @DocHoliday77
See here for "bootanimation", "bootsamsung", and "bootsamsungloop" files or bottom of this post.
I unziped and I copied "bootanimation" to /system/bin and changed the permissions, I only needed the "bootanimation" file, I had to change permissions to rwe-re-re, other combinations might work/be better. If someone needs to use the other two files, they go in /system/media
Again, credit to @DocHoliday77 for the files!

Hey everyone,
So, I tried changing my boot animation, and now I don't have any (it's just a black screen with the original sound)
(I'm on Candian Telus, with 4.4.2)
Basically what I'm asking/looking for is someone to attach a couple files off there phone so I can replace the ones that were altered through this tutorial, and hopefully get a boot animation back.
I'm not 100% sure if I need all of these, or if I may need more, but I have a pretty good idea of what was likely altered:
/system/bin/bootanimation (the extension-less file, this is one that I'm positive that got altered)
/system/bin/samsungani (possibly just and additon fr tutorial, unsure if needed. Information on if others have it would be awesome)
Any information on my situation would be amazing!
Have you tried factory reset (you'll lose data this way)?
Can you flash your ROM again (data will be wiped though)?

No, I haven't tried either. I'm trying to avoid losing any data, if possible.
Also, I'm not sure if it will fix the problem since the files have been altered directly. (I'm not sure if it will just reset with the file it has now or not)
Any thoughts?
Factory resetting won't help since boot animation is on /system.
If you can't find them here you can always copy them from a stock rom.
Make sure the binary file is from the same build as your current rom. It might not matter, but it just might.

Yeah, I'm really hoping someone is nice enough to copy and paste their bootanimation file in here, but I doubt it'll happen...
Any tips/ideas on how to go about copying from a stock rom? (I'm new to a lot of this stuff, so I'm unsure of how to go about this)
you can search on google and download boot animations.
but like doc said , ' make sure is from same build cause it might just matter. i DL cm 10.1 from internet and works great .
just a thought.
err on the side of kindness
@mrrocketdog
It's not so much a boot animation itself that I'm having trouble with, but the actual system file called "bootanimation".
I believe when I tried to install a custom animation I/the files from a tutorial I was using altered it, and now it doesn't work whatsoever.
If you know of any boot animation tutorials/files that could fix this though that would be sick!
Either way thanks for the input!
You can try these if you like. I'm running Likewise rom right now, but they should work fine for you.

There should be a thread(s) in the Themes and Apps section. I wouldn't use any not confirmed or made for the S3 though. And I wouldn't mess with that binary file either. (Unless specifically told to do so in one of our threads.) Any we have here should work fine just using the actual animation files.
Some threads may also have a return to stock zip file you can flash in recovery.

Are you referring to the one you linked to? To be perfectly honest I wouldn't try it. It was for the HTC One, right? I just don't know enough about HTC devices. It might be safe to use the animation, but it may just not work. (I doubt there'd be much danger of a hard brick though, but better safe....)

No problem. It could be perfectly ok to use, but since I don't know, I consider it a higher risk is all. Another thing to consider is if it's dpi is different the images probably wouldn't display correctly.

@DocHoliday77
So after a while of researching I was thinking of downloading CyanogenMod, and the using that to do boot animation stuff, thoughts?
As long as it's from the S3 versions of cm, I believe it would be safe to try. Probably the worst that might occur would be no animation, like you already experienced. I don't use CM though, and don't really mess with the boot animation much to begin with, so it is possible it wouldn't work as expected, I'm just not sure on that. But it should be simple enough to get back to the stock animation with the files I posted before.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk
Yeah, I guess that's really the worse that could happen, I've made a backup of my stock ROM so I should be able to go back if needed. Again, thanks for all the help!
I figure others would enjoy this. Please make a backup with TWRP before flashing (I experience no issues but you never know)
This replaces the Sprint Startup/Shutdown animations with Samsung's. (Including sounds)
If this is the wrong section please move it. I was going to post in Android Development but was unsure. Thanks!
Is there anyway to make custom intro animations or are we stuck with official samsung/sprint ones? Either way thank you!

We were all noobs once.
First off. I am not sure that these still work. Be careful and make a backup in TWRP. See https://android.gadgethacks.com/how...ck-up-restore-your-android-with-twrp-0175300/ for a guide.
Then plug your phone into your computer. You should be able to use Windows Explorer (or whatever you have) to explore your phone. You will see a whole bunch of file folders. Make a new one with a name that you can remember. I use "ROM" for mine, but you could call yours "Flash" or "Michael." Whatever you like. Put the zip file there.
Reboot to Recovery, which is TWRP. Select install and then navigate to the directory that you created, where you put the zip. Select it and flash.
You sir are awesome and a gentleman for responding, I watched some stupid video online where the guy had me extract the contrents manually change permissions, messed everything up. I am sort of Post Noob but still Noob with stupid questions like how to flash your zip, but not noob enough to not make recoveries, which i did. The only lingering issue I have is because I completely DeSprinted My Device to the point where nothing Sprint is Left anymore to send this phone to my cousin overseas, that the initial boot takes slightly longer. But it boots fine, the biggest bastard challenge was the sprint visual voicemail which i titanium froze and finally allowed me to enter a number....pheww. The dreaded sprint Boot Screen was all that was left and you sir helped me. Thank you very much. Thank you so so much. (I Swear Sprint is the Mobile Bloat Cancer of Modding)
Device: LG G3
Rom: [AOSP EXTENDED V3.0] [LG G3 - D855] [OFFICIAL] [NOUGAT R9] [by MARCHETTO96]
Hey again,
So i'm running this rom right and I was reinstalling my apps onto my phone and one app I need to log into but it noticed it was running root (Snapchat). So I followed someones advice on here on XDA to fully unroot the device and I did that I fully unrooted the app from the phone and then here comes the worst part that I realized this will kick me out of recovery and i wont be able to get back in because I need to get on to recovery to re install superSU back on. So im stranded on nougat 7.1 and dont have access to root at all except for root access on developer settings but that doesn't nothing at all I re installed the app on play store but its telling me the phone is unrooted of course.
Anyone can help me out here. It would be greatly appreciated .
P.S I did get snapchat working after that method kinda did work/backfire at the same time.
Do you have nandroid backup? If yes, flash that. It will be all well.
Other hard method is to downgrade to KitKat and then root and then TWRP. ?
I do not have a back up for this ROM but I have other back ups on my phone that still works. I can't do it as well cause I neeed root to l get it to work.

Backups don't need root. They need TWRP to be flashed.

Yeah thats the only thing I can't get access to TWRP. When I fully unrooted It would not let me in my recovery at all just bootloops until i take the battery out then it reboots to the system fine.
Just going to ask a hopefully obvious question that I know doesn't help but I'm intrigued... Why didn't you just unroot using the supersu app?

I did do that....now my main problem is I don't have root anymore and I can't get access to my recovery and plus I'm running an Nougat rom so I need to find a way to re-root my phone again to get it all back.
The supersu app doesn't delete the recovery on your phone so something had to have gone wrong. Either way the best bet for you I would imagine anyway would be to follow a guide to install recovery - it's been that long since I had to do it I can't be of much help but I'm willing to look into the easiest options for you if you want. There will be a way, pretty much guaranteed

I know that my recovery is still there but It wont allow me on there for some reason. But im thinking that If I factory reset the phone it would PROBABLY fix the problem but theres one risk that it could probably happen and im guessing that it will go straight into a bootloop. If you want to help me It would be great
I'll research for you mate!
Did you modify your ro.product.model in build.prop file and when supersu app asks if you want to flash stock recovery you pressed yes?
For example if you have enabled google assistant by changing your ro.product.model to pixel or pixel xl and after that unrooted and pressed yes to restore stock recovery (to get OTA to work), supersu flashes pixel recovery and thats why you can't get to recovey again.
There are ways to get your phone back to factory clean and start over.
Okay I have spent a whole day figuring out this problem but i finally managed to fix it.
So I went onto download mode
opened up LG Flash Tool 2014
Flashed an LG KDZ File managed to work after the 2nd time
10 or 15 mins later it finally worked
LG started to boot up and started loading in the apps
THEN
I rooted the phone again using this forum: https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/general/root-twrp-marshmallow-d855-30b-t3286268
Then I finally got back onto the glorious TWRP rom.
I re-installed the ASOP rom again.
I'd Like to thank Juhkimo, Jahanzaibawan and pffcouk for helping me out. You guys got my phone back to what it was before so thanks a ton
