hi,
Yesterday I updated my HTC Desire to 1.21 ....
And today I noticed that when i have the screen with more white than any other color (like the notification screen for example) the screen flickers, and it does this with little horizontal lines...
I also realized 2 things:
1. it flickers when the automatic brightness is on and I am inside (so the brightness was set to under 25%)
2. It flickers with battery fully charged once the voltage got under 4.08v, it stopped..
Has anyone seen this on the desire after the update or before? Is this normal? Is my phone faulty?
Thank you
I had this once, several weeks ago. It became less off a problem when I pressed hard on the right side of the display. I figured it was a flaky connection between screen and main board.
Right now I don't have it, it went away by itself. The irregularity of it might be related to falling (mine fell once), heat or humidity.
i had it when i flashed the kernel for USB HOST but after i flashed the MCK1.1 it was everything ok

maybe this new update triggered this problem..... what should i do ?
Hi,
Since a week or so, Im experiencing a weird problem with my Desire HD.
This is not always happening, but it happens very sometimes.
When I make a picture, the flash flashes, and the phone turns off... and it will not turn on by pushing the on/off button.
Only taking out the battery, and put it back in helps to get the phone starting up again.
After it is started up, the automatic blacklight adjusting is turned off, and the screen is on full brightness.
Does anyone else experience this problem either? and maybe having a solution?
Btw, it's not the SD, it also happens with a different SD.
Thanks in advance!
Greetz,
Joshoon.
Bump,
No one having an idea?
I only remember it happening the first day I bought it. Almost took it back for replacment, but then I solved it by removing the battery .
It never happened since, and the only thing I did after that was install the latest HTC update.
Check if you're updated.
I've experienced something close to this, only that my phone didn't shut down but just the camera app was closing anytime I tried to take a picture or record a video. Restarted the phone and everything works ok ever since.

My DHD was up-to-date when it happend.
It happend 2 times now.
I contacted HTC about it, there were not known with the problem, and the employee told me it could be a software problem, so they told me to do a factory reset.
Just did that, I hope the issue doesn't pop up again.
I'll keep the thread updated
Update!
Still had not the issue again, so HTC were probably right!
I still have that problem with shutting down phone after taking pictures with flash. I think it's battery related because it happens then battery is lower than 50%. All updates installed and I've done factory reset a couple of times. Anybody find a solution for this annoying problem?

I'm now switched to Galaxy Note since December, but it did not happen again with my Desire HD.
I also had a custom ROM on my Desire HD mostly after this all.
So you could try that too.
if your DHD turn off after take picture with flash, just replace battery will fix this, i'm tested with my DHD at 12/22/2013
I have been using the HOX for over 2 months now but this morning my phone display suddenly doesn't turn on even the backlight key still on and touchscreen still work ( when I sweep my finger up the unlock sound still play, and I can even adjust the volume of the phone, etc... ) I have no ideas if this is a software or hardware problem and how to solve it, I'm still on Stock Rom, Stock Kernel,... Please help me
try to reboot pressing power button for 10 seconds, if it'll not work, it can be hardware problem, as i understood you haven't unlocked it, so you can send it to htc and they will repair it, or if you can, you can change it by yourself,
have you tried starting in bootloader and factory resetting?

So the screen works in bootloader?

Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. Really weird, it feels like the phone has woke up but the display still "think" that it still in standby mode
Hardware fault for sure.
Same Problem
Hey, ive been using my international HTC One X for about two months too now and there have been no problems. ever since the update to 4.0.3 ive been facing exactly the same problem. The screen does not turn on a lot of the time but the touch is active. Have you found any solution to it?
It would be great if you could help me out.
Thanks

I have the same problem now. Using it completely stock, the screen doesn't turn on. Well.... Except for the times I visit the Vodafone shop to get it fixed....
Their first reaction was a defect in the screen, so they ordered a new one. I brought it yesterday again and it is now in for repair.
I don't know if this will solve the problem. How did they fix yours?

hey guys
I had this problem a month ago, i know its frustrating.
anyway the only solution is factory rest from boot loader and flash RUU (worked for me)
the first time i had it, i did a factory reset, all my pics music were gone, phone went back to normal( stock, locked)
after a day the problem appeared again, second rest.
flashed RUU and the problem is gone. thanks god i have been using my HOX about a month science that problem and every thing is working great.
im sure its a software issue and I recommend every one to back up their files(pics, music)
just flash RUU and good luck
Lol, exactly the issue I had recently had with mine. Sent it backto htc, let's see what they would do about it.

My colleque has the same issue with his One X.
It started with suddenly everything on his screen looking "zoomed in", so everything double size, looking ugly as a mofo, and not usable. After locking the sceen and unlocking again, it was fine.
Monday suddenly also screen didn't want to turn on anymore. Did the hard reboot for him, and it worked again... Untill he locked his screen and wanted to unlock, same issue.
Also, that time when doing the hard reboot, screen didn't turn on at all. Did another one, and worked again.
He's now sent it in for repair, this definately sounds like ahrdware issue, even full reset through bootloader didn't help.

Yup, exactly the same problem I'm having, I sent it to HTC, they said they fixed it by replacing the motherboard, but now it is happening again, I will have to send to HTC again.
This just happened to my phone... Has anyone else solved it? Is reset and flashing RUU the solution?

I have the same problem right now.
It started last week when I was using Flipboard and suddenly everything started zooming in and stuff (same as mhulsegge above). It was resolved by locking my screen and unlocking it.
Last night, i've been getting the black screen when I try to unlock my phone. The touchscreen still works but the screen is just blank. It turns on if I keep locking and unlocking, but it's getting annoying.
My phone is an international One X (duh) bought in Hong Kong and I'm currently living in Canada so it would not be possible to send it back for repairs. Plus my phone is rooted and I am currently using the latest MIUI ROM (2.9.21). I have been using an app called "Sleep" which tracks your sleeping patterns. It requires you to place your screen face down on your bed when you sleep and the accelerometer will track your sleeping patterns and wake you up at the most optimal time. I assume that for the accelerometer to work the screen has to be on, so I am wondering if this can be a screen malfunction (overheat or overuse) problem since the screen has been on for so long (every night when i sleep for around a month).
Since sending it back is out of the question for me because of where I am living right now and I have voided my warranty, I am downloading other ROMs as we speak and seeing if it is a problem with my ROM. I will keep you guys posted.
-edit- I have tried factory reset and reinstalling my ROM (with a full wipe). Still doesn't work.
It´s probably not your rom since I use CM10 hand have the same problem and others have even been running stock and had this problem. The only one who seems to have solved this (at least in this thread) flashed RUU, so guess I´ll go try that now...
Would be great to hear if anyone else has solved it, and how!
edit: This has to be a hardware problem, if I push on the screen it starts working! Its like something is loose, and when i press on the screen it gets connected again.

Good tip, but I tried a gentle two-fingered push (zoom pinch) and the backlight turned itself on with very little pressure, certainly not enough to flex the screen. I believe that it is a state issue related to zoom, but will try again and report if the issue returns.
Screen black after replacement lcd display unit
Hi,
My HOX touchscreen was broken, the touch and everything was still working. I ordered a replacement lcd display Unit and replaced the complete display and touch. After replacement the screen is completely black but the phone still works. The touch buttons on the bottom still work and i can use the volume buttons. I replaced the lcd display unit very carefully and i am sure nothing is broken etc. So the touch is working but the screen is black. I tried 2 display units and both show me a black screen.
Does anyone know how to solve this problem? Did i forget to do something during the replacement?
Please, i need some help with this issue.
OneX has too much issue with Screen . WTF with HTC?
Hey guys,
Lately I'm getting very frequent sudden shutdowns on my HOX. From one moment to another it just completely shuts off, like removing the power cord of a desktop pc.
The problem mainly occurs when my hox is doing something heavy, however sometimes this also happens just out of the sudden. While I'm just checking Facebook and such.
I thought it was a problem of my rom, however.. Today I even got a showdown while checking (not performing any action) in recovery. This would confirm for me it's a phone problem, instead of a rom problem.
I want to add that this problem occurs more frequent when the battery percentage is lower. This doesn't mean though it doesn't happen at 100percent, since it does too.
When it shuts down at about 20 percentage, I hardly can power it on, because whenever I boot it afterwards, after I entered my sim pin code, after a few secs it shuts down again. However, when I turn off the screen after entering the pin, let it rest for a minute and then turn the screen, everything is all fine.
Until I perform something heavy or when an app freezes.
I haven't went to factory defaults yet. I prefer not, but if a few experienced ones are confident this might fix it, I will do factory reset.. Until then: please advice!
Thanks very much.

It's sad there are still no replies.
Let's add this: Three days ago did a full factory reset and went on with a clean install, without any backup. It seems smoother and faster, even though I'm using a different (slower, more battery saving) governor.
Nevertheless, even with less frequencies, it's still randomly rebooting when it's having a hard time.
I must add too: MOST of the reboots appear when i'm changing from portrait to landscape, especially at changing orientation at the same time when opening the Camera..

Hey,
thanks! - I'm still running the stock (CyanogenMod stock) kernel, which i'm not undervolitng.
I must admit, after a factory reset, the frequency of random shutoff (t doesn't even reboot, it just shuts off and I have to power it back on) has lowered, and thus less trouble. However, it still happens about one, perhaps two times a day.
Hi all, in last few weeks i have a strange issue with my touchscreen, it is getting unresponsive randomly, and all that helps me to restore to normal is getting the screen off with the upper button, and on again after about 30 seconds. I am on a stock rom version 160, tried to flash again, factory reset, wipe cache partition, uninstall all apps, nothing helps. But, ive noticed, that it happens often when i am charging the phone with the car charger. Please help, is anyone have the same issue?
The model is ZE551ML 4gb/64gb
