OEM Unlock isn't an option after enabling developer options - One (M9) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am trying to unlock download mode on my HTC One M9 running 5.1 in order to root, but when I try to get an identifier token from htc via cmd, it comes up with an error about enabling oem unlocker. I've scoured my dev options but cannot find this checkbox. Is anyone else having this problem or know a solution?

It's on the first page of Developer Option. Like 4-5 lines down.
I'm on the ATT model that I converted to DevEd

Unfortunately with Verizon models, they have hidden the oem unlock options. To unlock/root a verizon model, it must be unlocked via java card or clip. There's a thread with forum members offering their services here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-one-m9/general/m9-java-card-t3063247
I believe Sunshine also now supports the verizon model : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2792487

The unlocking of the bootloader and rooting as nothing to do with been sim locked. What you could do is phone 3 and tell them you are going abroad on holiday and need it unlocking so you can put another cheaper sim in when your abroad.

I thought about that,
basically iv asked around and was told that even the unlocking websites cant guarantee these codes working
someone had also informed me you cant unlock the htc one x expecially if its on 3

Give them a bell, its worth a shot. Didnt realise they sim lock their contract phones (apart from iPhone and Blackberry and specials), a lot of other providers dont care because your tied to them with the contract.

question about changing tmobile version into unlocked version

I have a rooted tmobile htc 10. If i change the cid and flash the ruu of the unlocked version it should make it as a completely stock unlocked htc 10 right? Meaning will i be able to use any carriers sim card even if i still have the installment plan on the phone? thanks

Even if you installed the unlocked software you won't be able to use your tmobile phone on others networks.

My phone is still sim locked to tmobile, just S-off.
Sim unlock has nothing to do with s-off, unlocked bootloaders or even root. If you want to sim unlock the device you need a code via your carrier.
There is no sim unlock hack available at this time
Would you mind explaining how you changed your cid and what to change it to? With no dedicated T-Mo forum, I'm getting so confused wading through the threads, and I don't know if I just follow the guide posted for the European model. :\

i did a super cid. its pretty easy if you already have the adb files from rooting. go to download mode and Enter the command "fastboot oem readcid" on the computer. Make a note of your original CID. Enter the command "fastboot oem writecid 11111111". Make sure its eight 1s. Then enter the command "fastboot read cid" [it should confirm your CID is 11111111]

I paid to have my sim unlock . They made me run the app it said unlocked after I completed. Now I reflashed a new rom and verizon radio it wont get signal. Flash back to tmobile software (via TWRP backup) and run the unlock software again shows the device is locked. I though unlock was perm.

I paid an unlock service. I am aware Soff is not sim unlock. It stated to run the tmoible device unlock app and that my IMEI is marked as unlock able in the database. It appeared to work but now that I couldnt use my verizon sim I flashed back to Tmobile backup and trying the unlock again i get an error "Failure in processing request"

If i understand your issue correctly then go to bootloader and check what it says on top. If it says LOCKED then when you ran sunshine it did the s-off but it relocked the bootloader. So you have to manually unlock the bootloader again the same way you did it the first time. I had that same issue.
Its a sim.unlock issue . Though the T-Mobile app said it was unlocked the aim lock remained for some reason I will look further . I get signal fine on a T-Mobile sim testing it

Ive heard it does break ota but since ive done it i dont think there has been a new update to the unlocked models. But ill wait for an update and see if its true. If i cant update then its really easy to change the cid to the unlocked model

Buying HTC 10 from T-Mobile - what's the difference?

Hello
I am thinking about buying an HTC 10 straight from T-Mobile. My question is - will root/ROMs/recoveries work on the T-Mobile variant as well? Are they completely identical?
Thanks in advance :victory:
To answer your question most root/roms/recoveries should work on the T-Mobile variant. It isn't identical because the tmobile variant has tmobile added software and its made to fun on their network. i have used every single HTC One starting from the M7. this year was the first time i haven't. I instead went and got the unlocked model and I'm using it on T-mobile of course. My main reason of always rooting and s-offing my device was to be able to convert it to a developer or unlocked edition. This time with the unlocked 10 i haven't gotten the need to do any of that. I haven't unlocked the bootloader yet although I have the option in the settings ticked that I could in case i would need to.

What's the difference between S-Off and a Bootloader Unlock? Is it like Samsung Knox - where they only find out you've modified the device once you send it in - or does HTC get notified as soon as you S-off/unlock it? Thanks for the answer.

Bootloader unlock is what allows you to root, flash roms and etc. This is needed for any type of modifications. S-Off is not needed for this. What this does is allow you to further modify your device. For example, it let's you flash different firmware or different roms that normally your phone wouldn't work. So in my case the last few years I would take my T-Mobile M8 and M9 and use s-off and then flash them with official developer stock software and converted them into developer edition. the app to S-OFF is $25 but it's the best money you will spend
There should be a thread that explains this further if you need any help.

You bought a Verizon variant. With Verizon models you can't check "oem unlock" so you can't unlock the bootloader. You are stuck with a locked phone. No root.

Can't Unlock Bootloader [NOOB]

I've got an HTC 10 with Verizon. I'm trying to follow the guides, but they all want me to enable the OEM Unlock option in the developer settings. I can't do this because the option is simply not there. Can't find any guides with my same problem. Closest I've found was some guy also didn't have the option showing, but he somehow had the s-off, which from what I've found you can't do unless you've unlocked the bootloader by enabling the OEM Unlock. WTF have I done wrong? Is this even possible with my phone? I just wanted to get rid of the pop-up ads.
Thanks for listening

Verizon disables the OEM Unlock option, and so you cannot unlock the bootloader in the same way as for the other variants. Your only option is to pay for S-Off, which will require you to mail in your device to the Sunshine team if you're on Nougat/Oreo software.
