Hello.
What I have:
- SM-P605 on android 4.4.2 - rooted
- 32gb SD card formated as FAT32
What is my Goal?
Around 12gb internal space for installation is for me not enough. I have external sd card 32gb and I want to use it as a place where I can install games and apps.
I have tried few applications which "move" game data but they do not move all the data only installation folder (Hearthstone- apps move only 58mb and game has over 2gb used space)
I saw some tutorial how to swap internal sd with external by modification of vold.fstab but it was only for older system versions(or I do not know what to change to make it work)
Tried to change install location by adb using command: adb shell pm set-install-location 2 but it do not work, games and apps still use internal memory.
I do not want to install any other rom since I like stock rom, but if anyone could help me in this problem I would be grateful.
Thanks in advance.
Best Regards.

I have a 128 gb sd card and use the app root folder mount. The app basically does everything for you. It mounts the folder to the microsd card. If you google it and go to the xda forums youll find it and it explains how it works. I have at least 50 gb of game data stored on it and all my games work fine.
Related
So, I got my device s-off and rooted, was pretty excited when I had those stuff done.
But now,
Internal memory is still an issue, I read on xda like, removing the bundled or stock software comes with the phone won't make the internal memory get increased because those files are stored somewhere else that won't effect the total usable internal memory. Plus removing stock apps will stop using OTA updates.
So is there a trick that I can increase the internal memory of my phone? I already use the default save location setted to sd card, and moving apps to sd but it always leaves some files at internal memory.
I read somewhere like, I can make phone use my sd card's some part as internal memory, I saw a rom offering that but except that is there any program offering this without flashing rom?
And I have some knowledge about Linux, so I was wondering do I have a chance to use symlink command (symbolic link) to link my internal memory to sd card ?
Best way is to use a ROM with Darktremor Apps2SD preinstalled. I don't know whether it will work if you install it now.
The best alternative, in my opinion, is to format a partition of your SD card to ext3 with this guide and then use Link2SD.The partition can be as big as you want, but I believe that 500 MB should be enough.
It will earn you some space but not as much as the Darktremor Apps2SD will.
Thanks for the answer, I used the guide and Link2SD, but i am a bit confused here, I also use apps 2 sd program,
So for using less possible internal memory of my phone,
Should I install apps to phone memory and then link to sd card with link2sd
or
Install app in sd card (or move it with link2sd to sd card) then link?
Right now one of apps shown as Linked -> SD card. So is this the best scenario?
Because when I choose move to SD in Apps 2 SD, Link2SD says move to SD also, so it kinda like they conflict
To tell you the truth I'm not completely sure for what is better, but what I did was to first link all of them (application, dalvik & library if possible) and then move them to sd card with App2SD. I think there was a slight difference to the free space but nothing noticeable. Sorry, but I'm no expert, so everything I did was by trial and error!
In the Settings/SD & phone Storage, it shows
SD CARD
Total Space: 1.9GB
Available Space: 1.1GB
INTERNAL STORAGE
Total Space: 6.6GB
Available Space: 6.2GB
PHONE MEMORY
Total Space: 748MB
Available Space: 210MB
Is it possible to move my apps to INTERNAL STORAGE? I tried Link2SD and App 2 SD, but it doesn't allow me to move my apps to internal storage, only from phone to SD card. Thanks!
I don't think that it is possible to move apps to the internal storage. I'm not sure why there is such a huge space that is essentially useless on this phone. At any rate, the easiest way to fix any problem that you have been having is by buying a larger SD card. I know that it probably isn't what you wanted to hear but I think it is the easiest solution. I am not 100% sure but I think that the largest SD supported by the dinc is 8gb, I wouldn't mind being able to stick in a 16gb or 32gb and have all of my music readily available instead of using google play but GP is certainly a great alternative, especially with my grandfathered unlimited data I hope this helps!
I do believe CM7 has an option to switch what you use for internal storage.
If your getting the low space warning or just want to install more apps without getting it, then check out the ext4 mod. It moves your apps data from a tiny partition to a much larger partition giving you more room for apps. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1488351

Yes there are many that do.
The dinc should support up to 32 Gb sdcards according to the specs. I'm using a 16Gb card with no problems.
Also, as has been said, on CM7 you can switch the mounting of the internal storage (emmc) and the sdcard, so the phone sees the emmc as the sdcard. This would allow you to put apps on the emmc.
I must say it seems a bit odd how HTC set up the partitions on the dinc. It is good for one thing though - if your'e a ROM flashing addict, Boot Manager can install ROMS to the emmc. The emmc is faster than your average sdcard, so it works great.
Thanks everyone for the replies. I'm not sure, but is this ROM EMMC supported to switch to internal storage?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1267158
It says "EMMC PC mount works" but not sure if I could use this to store my apps in. If it is, do I just drag the apps folders into here?
Any replies would be greatly appreciated!

Emc pc mount means when you plug the phone to the pc and select disk drive the sd and emmc mount to the pc. I assume at one point the rom had issues doing so.
Chek out an app called link2sd. It can move apps to both the sdcard an emmc.

In Link2SD, it only shows MOVE TO SDCARD, not EMMC..

In the link2sd preferences there is an option to activate saving to emmc.
I see...
Native apps2SD settings > Install Location > Automatic, Internal, or External.
If I choose Internal, it will store the apps in the drive with the 6.6GB?
Update:
It's not saving the apps in the Internal Storage that has 6.6GB, it's either saving it on my phone or sdcard

Hmm im not sure i havent used it since the ext4 mod came out.
What EXT4 mod? Does it do the same thing?
Is it this one?

I'm not getting a low on space issue, just wanting to move apps to the 6.6 GB internal storage section.

The ext 4 mod moves the /data/data partition on to a folder on the l data partition giving you significantly more space to install apps. You.could mount the emmc as sd an vise versa then mobe apps to the sd card which is actually the emmc.

Yes it is.
Your 2GB is the MicroSD external card, mounted by CM7 as "SD Card", and is used by almost everything, including app storage.
Your 6.6GB is a partition of the eMMC internal card, advertised as an internal 8GB, mounted by CM7 as "/mnt/emmc", and used by almost nothing. Some people use it as a media drive and place their music, pictures, and videos here.
Your 748MB is a partition of the eMMC internal card, mounted by CM7 as "Internal Storage", and is used by the system and the apps. A 150MB partition within this partition called "/data/data" causes "low on space" problems, which can be fixed by uninstalling certain apps or using the Ext4 mod.
If you didn't upgrade your MicroSD card, and you don't use the eMMc for media, you could force CM7 to use the 6.6GB instead of the 2GB. CM7 usually has an option for this called "Use internal storage" but I can't find it on the CM7 builds for the Incredible. So I used the following procedure instead:
1. Copy all the files in your current SD card to the eMMc
2. Edit the vold.fstab file manually, or download it here: https://www.box.com/s/e66b71720ce28911167d
3. Copy the file over using adb or root explorer
adb
Code:
adb remount
adb push vold.fstab /system/etc/vold.fstab
root explorer
Code:
use PC to transfer vold.fstab to your SD card
open root explorer
copy the vold.fstab file
navigate to /system/
navigate to /etc/
mount as r/w
paste the file
4. reboot and enjoy
On all my other devices I was able to make the system believe the internal memory is the external SDcard... and that my external SD card was the internal memory
so I had a 64 GB tablet.
Never had any issues or obvious loss of speed...
Now I have installed my standard apps and the game Xcom and 16 GB are used up... can't move any more to the SD
Any way to do this on the P605 with 4.4.2?
I'm towelrooted
Sent from my SM-P605 using XDA Premium HD app
I believe you can use the app Foldermount to do that, or manually relink the drives via Terminal.

As the previous post suggested, get the paid version of foldermount and you can pretty much move (i.e. link) any folder to the SD card without android throwing a fit. I linked the Downloads folder and all of my game obb folders to the SD card and I have plenty of space left on the internal storage now.
FolderMount Problem
Okay i have FolderMount on my android 4.4.2, but when i choose to open ''storage/sdcard1 or sdcard0'' it doesn't show nothing inside (on the foldermount) ! HELP ?! D:
I am confused. What is the point of fooling the system into believing that the external sdcard is the internal memory? I heard that the sdcard is slower than internal one.
Is FolderMount an app to work around the KitKit unable to save to sdcard issue?

Ive been using folder mount since it came out.It does not make anything slower for me.I have 128gb micro sd card and it runs fine.I have alot of games and most are over a gig. With folder mount im able to put everything on external microsd card and play the games from there.I only have 16gb on tablet with about 30 gb worth of game data, so without foldermount I wouldn't be able to fit all the games on tablet. That's why its good to fool the sytem. Hope some of that helped you better understand.
so, i have rooted my phone, created a partition on my class 10 64gb SDcard and installed link2sd plus, i have linked almost all of my apps to the ext4 partition on the SDcard including internal data, but there is still a lot of data inside my sdCard and internal memory, the biggest one is a video game called Galaxy on Fire 2 HD, i have linked everything from this app, but i still get the android/data and android/obb files which uses a bit more than 1gb of my internal memody, so my question is can i erase those files from my sdcard and internal memory whitout compromising the integrity of games/apps so that i can release some memory from my phone?
Thans in advance for help.
BTW, i own a gt-i9192

Our device hav too small storage. so I want to switch internal to external storage but every way are failed
But if the kernel have changed those mount point, can it be succes??
So i tried some basic way but cant..
Help plz,
We can use Large storage!!!
If you are OK with rooting your device, you can use Link2SD and Foldermount to use your External SD card. you just need to flash Init.d support mod after rooting. then install Link2SD and/or Foldermount

Yeah I'm using FolderMount but I want every app's downloaded files be in EXT_sd.
Everytime I organize my files, it's too bothersome.
the new Link2SDplus does it all
How can you guys get it working? Mine says that there is mo partition on the sd card or insufficient storage even though I still have 10+gb on the sd card and 2+gb on the phone and doesnt move it

Link2SD needs a specific EXT formatted partition on your external SD in order to work. follow a Link2SD installation guide..
