Just an fyi.
How is it live and it still won't take my chase card
Just tested non nfc transaction with an Amex card and it was awesome!
Open the Samsung Pay app, you would get an update. Yes it is live! Didn't try adding my Chase card though, it wasn't working in Beta!
Couldn't add my cards, guess ill wait to see which banks are supported.
Yeah it wouldnt take any of my cards either. If this only supports a few specific cards then it is going to be pretty pointless. Discover/capital one visa/centris bank. None of mine seem to be supported :/ Bummer, I was all excited when it popped up active on my phone this evening.
Here's a list of banks supported for now (Visa / Master / AmEx):-
- AmEx
- BOFA
- CITI
- USBank
- Synchrony
Source - http://www.samsung.com/us/support/owners/app/samsung-pay
Definitely a bummer as I can't add my Chase which i use on daily basis.
However, I could use my AmEx Corp. which I was unable to add in Beta! If they have come out with such a feature, I'm assuming they have plans to add more banks. The sooner the better!
Yeah none of my cards are supported, sucks I was looking forward to using this. Hope way more get supported otherwise if this is all its really not gunna go anywhere. Oh well I'm used to features not working for me or not being supported.

Also, if you register your phone for Samsung Pay, Samsung is having a promotion in which you get a free wireless charger (non fast I think. Could be wrong) or the wallet cover. Too bad Verizon users don't have Samsung Pay...sigh...

Whats the difference between Samsung Pay and Android Pay? I've been using Android Pay for about 2 weeks and works great.
Wasn't installed on my Verizon version of the Edge + so I side loaded the APK and it says server is unavailable at this time.

With android pay you only can pay with nfc terminals and with Samsung pay you can pay without nfc if you want and use on a magnetic card reader. If you just place your device next to it.

Android Pay didn't work for me, when I try to add the card google play services crashes. But the difference is that on Samsung pay you can use both nfc and the old terminals that you swipe your cards. They also say it is more secure than Android Pay.

Luckily I had an AmEx which worked! They definitely need to add support for rest of the banks otherwise it would be a waste for such a nice feature!

Good to know. The other difference is that Android Pay replaces Google Wallet if you have loyalty and gift cards. In my case I have to keep Android Pay for that reason. but I've already used Samsung Pay about five times. Very easy. And I submitted my request for the free wireless charger.
Anyone know when they will support more than 4 banks?

It opens the app for your PIN when you set the phone on the terminal, you enter the PIN and place it back down, and it makes the sale. It initializes with NFC to know to accept the payment.
Slightly off topic, but did anyone receive a $10 credit after activating a Google Prepaid card on Google Wallet?
Imagine a credit/debit/giftcard that doesn't physically exist in your wallet but you can use it at certain stores to pay for things. That is what the big deal is.

For the last 2 days I've been stumbling across this "ISIS Mobile payment" platform. It looks to be getting a lot of attention and is supported by AT&T, T Mobile, and Verizon. According to a few sources it will be available for a few devices (including ours) next month.
http://www.engadget.com/2012/08/28/isis-mobile-payment-system-primed-for-september-launch-supporte/
http://androidspin.com/2012/08/28/list-of-approved-isis-devices-by-carrier-do-you-have-one/
http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2012-...ystem-to-debut-in-september-after-delays.html
http://androidcommunity.com/isis-mobile-payments-coming-in-september-20120828/
So my question is, why is ISIS getting the attention and props from the carriers over Google Wallet? Is it more secure? Is it financially supported by the carriers?
I'm confused...
the carriers want the money that such a service brings and are trying to screw Google

ISIS is a way for operators to get money out of NFC, that's why the operators are blocking Google Wallet from working. This is the same as Tethering.
The only thing starting next month is a test trial in Salt Lake City and Austin. Which, I believe, has been delayed from a previously announced July launch. I'm guessing a wider rollout will be sometime next year.

Interesting... Makes perfect sense.
I've been reading and saw few YouTube clips... And Iris system looks 10 times more difficult to purchase. (compared to google) the security is ten times greater due to constant changing of the back of plastic 3 digit security code. (whew!)
Google wallet is obviously less with security.
Since Iris is backed by the 3 major 4G and lte service. Many vendors and merchants will adapt this feature very soon. This payment system was long existed in South Korea (visited galaxy s2 days) and citizens use it like it's their wallet.
Not sure Americans would be able to adapt and execute the isis business model and availability of credit cards.

Just after I left Verizon, they were fined by the FCC for blocking tethering apps. It was part of their agreement when acquiring LTE spectrum that the customer would be free to use whatever software they wanted on their devices. I wonder if they are also blocking Google Wallet since this would also be in breach of their agreement.
As for ATT and T-Mobile, it would be nice to have support without resorting to workarounds.

Plenty of people have Google Wallet up and running on other carriers besides Sprint. Obviously it is a work around, but anyone that truly wants to use Google Wallet doesn't have to look very far or put much effort in getting it to work for their device regardless of carrier.

Bottom line, u root, no isis.
So far the only isis specific terminal I've seen here in salt lake is the light rail system. I tried google wallet on it and it said I paid but the transaction never went through. I'm hoping the pay termials will take either. I applaud that isis may make nfc more visible and acceptable to the general public but restrictions make it doa.

Unless something's changed, not out of the box. It's carrier blocked. When I had a Note 2 you had to do a bunch of s/w modifications to the Wallet app and change your build.prop to make it work. The Note 3 had a NFC chip with a secure token that didn't work with Wallet at all. Check the SGS5 forum as their experiences will probably be the same as ours assuming the NFC chip is the same. I've moved to Softcard and have been getting $50 a month back from Amex Serve since July, the offer's good until the end of the year.
Google Wallet's pretty much dead because the financial players won't share marketing data with them. A long discussion here...

I don't think they're blocking it anymore from AT&T. I can confirm my Note 3 absolutely did not work because of whatever secure element issue it had. But my AT&T branded LG G3 allows me to download and use Google Wallet. Although as much as I don't really care for the service, Softcard (ISIS) is giving away the farm on deals to get people to use their payment system.

I was on DN3 on the Note 2 and tap n pay worked. Didn't have a note 3. On the Note 4 however I can say that on stock, wallet works. It's funny, isis/softcard is built in and pre loaded, so have to get wallet from the play store. But there is a slip of paper in the box advertising wallet. So they are both accessible and fully working on the N4.
After installing wallet you have to go into the NFC settings and change your authorized tap to pay app to wallet.

This is in INCREDIBLE! When I was with t-mobile (last year) I returned my Note3 to purchase a Nexus5, only because of Google Wallet tap-to-pay feature. I know, it sounds stupid, and hard headed. Now, since i'm with at&t, and got over my stupidity, I sold my nexus5 on swappa, purchased a Note3 on their Next plan (12 months), to enjoy my Note3 again.
Now, with the good news of Google Wallet tap-to-pay feature being available on the Note4, this is totally AWESOME!
Hi. Since I'm not rooted anymore, I figured I'd start setting up a mobile payment thingy. Anyone play around with the included ISIS or Softcard? I remember Google Wallet in the past, but I'm sure its much better now. Anyone try them both on the Note 4; and do you have a preference over the other? Thanks.
Edit: Claimed a bunch of $20 Amazon gift cards on Softcard for October. I'm now on a Tmobile Note 4 (rooted) so I can't use Softcard anymore. I guess Google Wallet is the way to go now...
I've been using Wallet since I for this phone and it works really well. I prefer wallet because I can load just what I want to my Google account and not use my debit card.
I've yet to see Softcard used in my area. As it is right now, only my local Walgreens uses gWallet, so neither is really useful for in-store purchases.

Here's a great reason to use Softcard. You get a $1 per tap up to $50 a month. It started in July and runs through the end of the year. All said, I'll have pocketed $300. Not counting the first time $50 sign-up bonus. Wallet's a solution looking for a problem and a cluster of an app UX wise.
this is a NO FREAKING BRAINER needed !
Softcard, everytime you make a purchase with American Serve card, you get 1$ cashback !
and now through end of October, next friday, every credit cards you added to Softcard, they give you 20$ Amazon gift card !
i added 3 credit cards, and i already received 60$ in Amazon gift card !
Google Wallet give you sh*t !!
but i having problem with Softcard, i moved Softcard from Note3 to Note4, now i'm UNABLE to re-add my Serve card !

There is a new sim that's required for softcard. It's called a "secure element" sim kinda like chip the Note 2 & other phones had built in to work with NFC. Now the NFC works with your sim's secure element so just stop in a store & ask then to swap your old micro sim for the new one.

I just used google wallets tap to pay yesterday for the first time ,and it work flawlessly at mcdonalds, I used it with my debit card. I think tap to pay is an amazing and convenient way to pay and it goes beyond just being secure its also safer at a POS. I myself work at gas station, i help hundreds of people a day who are constantly on their phones, whether it be in hand texting or making a call. When it comes to making your purchase at a POS you have to (most likely 9/10 people have their phones in hand already) put your phone down ( again most people will put their phone on the counter), pull out your wallet, find the card in our tightly packed wallets people have with all the cards we carry now a days. Swipe your card on the POS, put it back in your wallet, and HOPE you remember to pick up your phone and walk out with all your belongings. Where as with a Tap to Pay device, your phone being in your hand already, you load up your app or if you device already recognizes the POS, It will already have a credit/debit card preselected and just hover it over the POS and bam done. No having to dig out your wallet, leaving your stuff on the counter. Which means less potential to leave your phone or wallet behind, or even someone one just swiping it off the counter when your not paying attention.

What you're describing applies to mobile payments in general. The only difference between Softcard and Google Wallet is the card's you can associate to them. Anywhere you can use one you can use the other.
Speaking of which, Rite Aid and CVS just deactivated their NFC networks to join Walmart, Best Buy, Target and others in MCX which is merchant sponsored and barcode based. With AT&T, VZW, T-Mobile, and a bunch of banks sponsoring Softcard, merchants with three trillion in revenue sponsoring MCX, and Apple and a bunch of banks sponsoring Apple Pay,
Google's pretty much on their own with wallet. If Google can't control what third parties do with Android their ability to dictate to merchants and the financial industry what to do with mobile payments sure ain't going to be any easier.

I added a credit card and debit card. Added funds to my softcard. Now how long does it take before I receive the 20 bucks from amazon for each card I add? The cards I added was not on there list. Is that going to be an issue?

credit cards only. American Serve card doesn't count. if you added American express, Wells fargo, or Chase, you will get 20$ for each card added AFTER you use that card on phone to pay at least once by Oct 31, 2014 (this friday). I added 2 American express, 1 chase card, I received 60$ amazon card.

I tried using Isis/SoftCard, but it wouldn't take any of my regular cards! I had to use American Express, or sponsored banks. So I called American Express thinking that their prepaid card was one that charges your actual card when a payment goes through. No. You have to load the card, then use the card on SoftCard. For me, this is a waste of time. So then I used Goggle Wallet which accepted all my cards in a hurry, and I've been using it ever since! And I mean, c'mon, what Google product doesn't out perform some off-brand?

I do not have any cards that support this app natively. So for me, it's not worth the hassle of signing up for a new card with American Express, loading the card, then using it with SoftCard every time I wish to make a purchase.
You don't have to specifically load the Amex Serve card to use it. Once you sign up for it you link a debit card to it. When you use the phone to tap and pay, the funds get transferred from your debit card to the Serve card and then to the retailer. So the retailer never sees your debit card, just the Amex Serve card number. It's very easy to use, and like the person above said you get $1 back per purchase through the end of the year. I have also made over $300 back through the program. Been using it since April with the Galaxy S5 and now on my Note 4.
Samsung is giving 50$ rebate for using samsung pay . I registered without a problem.
I hit it up too, thanks.
Me also. I had signed up previously(twice) and registered for wireless chargers. The last update borked my app and I had to reinstall Samsung Pay. Meanwhile I received not 1 but 2 wireless chargers from my previous registrations.
Is there minimum spend?

I believe the "minimum" is that you have to had purchased the phone in a certain time period and just submit the claim in a certain time period. More details in the fine print of the promotions
