My phone's USB port is not functioning, I needed to get the phone repaired, but the service center guys say that they can help only if I bring the device to them on Sony's OS.
My phone is currently on CM11, with CWM recovery installed.
Check this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2703161
download your required stock zip. Flash it via CWM after full wipe.

My 2013 Nexus 7 has a non functional USB port that works only for charging but not for data transfer of any sort. I need to RMA it, however I am running CM11 with TWRP recovery.
The guide for resetting to stock relies on having a functional USB port. Is there a way of reflashing stock ROM and recovery and relocking the bootloader with a non-functional USB port (ie., using only wifi to download to the device and the custom recovery to flash things)?
Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Sure. You would need to lock the bootloader with the app from the playstore, then find stock ROM and recovery. Flash ROM then factory reset through recovery. Then flash stock recovery with TWRP. Reboot to stock recovery and factory reset. That should be it.

Ok, I have managed to restore stock android and recovery, although I still am working on how to relock the boot loader.
I had fortunately taken a backup of the stock ROM with TWRP before I flashed my nexus to CM11. So I restored from the stock backup, then I removed the root using the inbuilt option in supersu and rebooted. I then accepted the stock OTA update to Android 4.4.3 which flashed the stock recovery during the upgrade process.
So now everything looks like new except for the unlocked bootloader. I'm still soliciting advice on how to relock the bootloader with no USB port available....

From the time stamps, it looks like I was composing my previous reply at the same time as you were doing yours. I may just have invalidated this option by unrooting my device
Thanks for the feedback

I have the solution: Use TowelRoot (towelroot.com). This is an app that can be downloaded to the device to allow rooting without having to use ADB and a USB cable. Once Towelroot did its job, I installed Supersu again, then installed the bootlocker app that Aerowinder kindly linked and used it to lock the bootloader. Follow up with a quick uninstall of Supersu and the device looked like new: stock rom, stock recovery, locked bootloader. All without ever connecting it with a USB cable to a PC.
Thanks Aerowinder.
I flashed Slimkat 4.4.4 a couple weeks ago and don't like it so I attempted to change it to AOSP tonight and I wiped the cache, partition, formatted the system and attempted to flash the rom and got a "fail" sign. Now when I reboot from TWRP menu, it keeps going back into TWRP recovery, after I see the Samsung and Slimkat words on my phone. I tried rebooting into system, keeps going back into recovery. I was going to attempt to reflash Slimkat but now my laptop won't recognize my phone. I saw where someone pulled the battery out and it just booted into recovery. Please help me and thank you in advance.
This is why you should never manually format your /system partition. If your rom flash fails, you have no OS to boot into. I really dont know why so many people still say to do this.
You need to either use Odin to flash your firmware, or download another rom (or your previous one) and flash it from TWRP. Youll have to plug your external SD Card into your computer and copy it to there, then put the card back in and flash.

Lesson learned. I really don't know who to listen to, I should have just left it alone like a good girl. But I really did not like Slimkat. My laptop is not recognizing my phone through usb. Would Odin recognize it if I put it in download mode?
Its worth a try I think. But otherwise do you have a way to plug your sd card into the computer? You could copy a rom to flash im recovery that way.
If not youll probably need to try installing different drivers. You can get plenty to try from the link in my sig.
I usually say to just follow the instructions in the OP of what you are trying to flash. If they tell you to format system, I would ignore that part unless they have a good explanation for why.

I'm guessing the only other way to plug an sd card into my computer is to stick the card in another phone? Meanwhile I will try to install drivers and get my computer to recognize my phone.
You can usually find an adapter for a few bucks online or at places like wal mart. Sorry. Was just assuming you had one. Without it, yes youll have to try different drivers or find another way to get it going via one of the two methods I mentioned.
When trying different drivers, just installing the package doesn't always do the job. You should go into device manager and manually select update drivers, then browse to the folder in Program Files and choose it there.
When you plug in now, does it at least detect it? Are you trying while in Download Mode?

I tried putting my SD card into my daughters phone which is a Samsung but different model and I thought I put the old Slimkat rom what looked to be the extsdcard folder but when I went to recovery to install the rom I saw the corrupt rom I attempted to install last night. When I went to device manager to manually update the drivers, the computer recognizes my phone but said that the drivers couldn't be installed. Maybe I'm getting confused with this TWRP recovery I'm not familiar with. It has an install feature, so I tried to flash the rom last night using that. Did I screw up?
Ok....I finally managed to get the files onto my SD card. I attempted to install the Slim rom (the one that's been on my phone the last couple weeks) and heres the message I get:
Format and Mount System, Mount Data.....
Symlinks and permissions....
set_metadata-recursive: some changes failed
E:Error executing updater binary in zip ' /extern
Error flashing zip '/external_sd/Slim-d2lte-4.4.

What version of TWRP are you using? You could try flashing CWM or Philz recoveries and try the rom again. If you still get flashing errors you may have to find a way to get Odin to work.
Try uninstalling drivers from device manager. Then with the phone unplugged, reinstall the driver package. Plug phone back in and hopefully itll automatically install the drivers and work.
And have you tried connecting while booted to Download Mode?

I'm using TWRP 2.6.3.0. Ok friggin awesome...I rebooted it into download mode and the computer recognizes my phone.
You might need an updated recovery to flash that rom. Latest TWRP is 2.7.1.0.
But since you can connect in Download Mode you can flash your firmware via Odin...hopefully.
If you have the I747, it depends on if you have ever updated via ota. If so, do you remember if you had updated to 4.3 or 4.4.2?

I have the i747. I've never been able to do an OTA update, I heard because it was rooted. When I tried to unroot it, I still wasn't able to do an OTA update. I'm going to try to update the recovery first and then the rom. Which rom do you use? The main reason I don't like SlimKat is because of the Google search bar on the home screen and all the extra crap on the lockscreen I couldn't get rid of.
Update: I flashed the latest TWRP and it still bootlooped. So I flashed CWM instead and it booted right back into CWM recovery.
I have a T999 and I only use Touchwiz roms. Personal preference.
When you are in Download Mode, if you do not see a Warranty Bit, youll be free to flash any firmware you want with Odin. You can download it at http://sammobile.com/firmwares

Doc, Thank you so much for helping me. I flashed the slimkat rom in cwm recovery and its fine now. However I don't want Slimkat and I was eyeing Touchwiz. Someone was saying how great a rom it is so I'm going to try that shortly. No more TWRP for me. I'm comfortable with CWM. Thanks again. :victory:
I bought an AT&T locked stock SGH-i747 - it runs 4.4.2 with baseband I747UCUFNJ1
I tried to unlock it using FastGSM using their USB-tethered method. Their instructions (after some unrelated glitches) were this:
Unfortunately it's not possible to unlock the phone by USB with your current baseband.
It's possible to change the baseband to a supported one and then unlock the phone following these steps:
Code:
1. Install these drivers - http ... files.complexgsm.com ... SAMSUNG_USB_Driver_for_Mobile_Phones_v1.5.42.0.exe
2. Power off your phone and reinsert battery
3. Press and hold the volume down button and power button
4. Release them when the download disclaimer shows up
5. Confirm the download mode by using the volume up button
6. Connect the phone to the USB cable
7. Wait until all drivers are installed
8. Download and unzip http ... files.complexgsm.com ... Odin3_Lite_v3.07.zip
9. Start the Odin software
10. Download and unzip http ... files.complexgsm.com ... S3/i747-usa-att/MODEM_I747UCDLK3.zip
11. Click the ‘One Package’ button
12. Select the file you previously downloaded and unpacked MODEM file
13. Press start
14. Wait until the file is uploaded to your phone
15. Disconnect the phone from the USB cable
16. Now you can start the unlocking process by USB
I followed these steps and now have an unknown Baseban and my IMEI is null/null.
When I went back to the original instruction for unblocking by USB and connect the SAMSUNG client, I am stuck at
Code:
READING FIRMWAREWARE VERSION : [FAIL]
FastGSM has stopped talking to me so I can't get help from them to restore my original baseband let alone unlock the phone. Is this a hopeless case? Any suggestions on how to restore the baseband and IMEI?

I'm afraid so. I bought this device on swappa and it appear factory reset, unrooted and AT&T locked. So I presumed it was stock ROM and recovery. Do I need to get another one on there?
You will probably need to flash a custom recovery in order to reflash stock 4.4.2. AT&T never relased a full 4.4.2 firmware, only as an OTA update to a phone's existing firmware.
I suggest loading the Samsung Info App to determine the bootloader on your phone. If the bootloader is the NE4, this may help: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3-att/general/ucuemjb-to-ucufne4-firmware-update-t2808654
PLEASE post if below works with existing I747UCUFNJ1
I747UCUFNJ1 was just rolled out November 2014 !!!!!!!!!!!!
Try this solution to get you back up and running:
1) Download debrick256.img web address: androidfilehost.com/?fid=23501681358551786
2) Use Win32DiskImager program to flash a sdcard (card can be 16GB or 32GB), then insert sdcard into phone
IF you have a ROM already installed, boot phone an skip to step 5
IF you have a CUSTOM RECOVERY INSTALLED skip to step 5
3) Boot into download mode ( I am sure you are now a VERY VERY HAPPY PERSON NOW )
4) ODIN/flash a custom recovery
5) Download d2att_I747UCUFNE4_bootloader_modem_4.4.2_7-29-14.zip web address: androidfilehost.com/?fid=23578570567720263
6) Transfer d2att_I747UCUFNE4_bootloader_modem_4.4.2_7-29-14.zip to phone (use ADB or if phone boots just use PC)
7) Reboot into RECOVERY
8) Flash d2att_I747UCUFNE4_bootloader_modem_4.4.2_7-29-14.zip
9) Install CM11 / 4.4.4 or higher ROM
Remove sdcard. Enjoy....... your phone is back to normal

Edit: I struggle to follow this advice: I don't have wifi anymore - so connecting to the PlayStore for the installation of apps doesn't work. Would I have to try and download an APK for Samsung Info App and then somehow install that onto my phone?
I have found an APK of the Phone Info App and the bootloader version is given as UCUFNJ1.
Also your above comment seems to state that AT&T never released the 4.4.2 firmware. Does that mean I need to first get to an earlier (released) firmware from where I'll be able to use the OTA update? Sorry - but I'm new to this game, so, still learning. I get the sense that with UCUFNJ1 I can't apply most of the methods for firmware up- and downgrades?
Easiest way to fix the issue would be to flash a custom recovery such as Philz Touch for the d2lte and flash a compatible modem.
This may help: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=57233161&postcount=135

I seem to be stumbling at this first step. Odin 3.09 eventually (after 2:05 min) reports PASS when I flash a variety of Philz custom recoveries (I tried philz_touch_6.48.4-d2lte.tar.md5, philz_touch_6.09.something-d2att.tar.md5 and some more). However, I don't seem to be able to get rid of the stock recovery. After rebooting and starting into recovery mode (volup+home+pwr) I always get the
Android system recover <3e>
KOT49H.I747UCUFNJ1
And I can't do anything with that beyond: reboot / apply update from adb/ apply update from ext storage / wipe data&fact reset / wipe cache / apply update from cache.
How can this be so locked down? What am I doing wrong?
I have never used Odin 3.09, only 3.07.
Try this:
open Odin and uncheck everything except f reset time;
attach the phone and flash Philz;
after you see Reset in the status window, remove the USB cable from the phone and remove the battery;
replace the battery and boot into recovery.
When can somebody figure this out?
I think that you can unroot via supersu on the settings. Theres an option where it says full unroot idk if it works cuz i havent try it .
Dude, this is easy. First find and flash a stock unrooted ROM then once flashed follow button guide for reset factory defaults G3 (it's like hold vol down and power to boot, then when you see boot logo release power and hold it again until you get on screen prompt about wiping all user data (now release both keys) use vol keys to select yes accept warning and it will actually drop to TWRP and not run any cleaning script). Then just flash stock recovery should have a recovery flash zip for stock recovery somewhere on XDA or use Google.
Or the more official way (guide (follow the TOT guide listed last in OP)):http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-lg-g3/general/firmware-t-mobile-lg-g3-t2818667
It just walks you through downloading official firmware and utility needed to flash it. If using same computer you used to root phone then can skip the driver installs and just install the utility, follow connect your phone to computer steps. Once utility sees the phone select firmware you downloaded and flash. This method reports to pass inspection by carrier so they won't know you rooted it.
If all you want is stock ROM imho leave custom recovery alone so you can go back to a custom ROM anytime and just flash the stock debloated image in Android development section. If you don't like super user install supersu (if it's not already) open app go to settings tap full removal. This will remove super user binary and you won't have the ability to use super user unless you flash it back in recovery.
Good afternoon,
I have a problem when updating an official ROM on the tablet tab3, the tablet has a custom ROM installed and I tried to do the following:
1.- Rootearla with the King ROOT application, made with success.
2.- I connected by Recovery and make the format factory and wipes, well after doing it and restart the tablet as if nothing, continues with the same ROM and does not delete any application.
3.- As apparently the recovery did not do anything, I decided to install the TWRP recovery via ODIN to see if it was solved and could leave the tablet as a new factory outlet, even though ODIN finishes all the steps correctly and does not give any errors. After completing everything correctly, I restart the tablet and my surprise that is also not let update Recovery.
4.- I try again to install an official ROM for this tablet and to do the reparticion again putting the corresponding pit. In ODIN everything is done correctly and all steps are completed correctly and the PASS message in ODIN appears indicating that the installation was successful, but when it restarts it follows the same ROM.
Can someone help me and tell me how to format the tablet or what happens? Because I do not understand the pass or because it does not leave nor return to factory values nor does it leave update recovery, nor eliminate the root ROM.
If someone can tell me if they have a solution I would appreciate it because I do not know what else to do to the tablet.
Thank you very much
regards
Which tab model and which custom ROM? Also, which version of Odin are you using?
