My 2013 Nexus 7 has a non functional USB port that works only for charging but not for data transfer of any sort. I need to RMA it, however I am running CM11 with TWRP recovery.
The guide for resetting to stock relies on having a functional USB port. Is there a way of reflashing stock ROM and recovery and relocking the bootloader with a non-functional USB port (ie., using only wifi to download to the device and the custom recovery to flash things)?
Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Sure. You would need to lock the bootloader with the app from the playstore, then find stock ROM and recovery. Flash ROM then factory reset through recovery. Then flash stock recovery with TWRP. Reboot to stock recovery and factory reset. That should be it.

Ok, I have managed to restore stock android and recovery, although I still am working on how to relock the boot loader.
I had fortunately taken a backup of the stock ROM with TWRP before I flashed my nexus to CM11. So I restored from the stock backup, then I removed the root using the inbuilt option in supersu and rebooted. I then accepted the stock OTA update to Android 4.4.3 which flashed the stock recovery during the upgrade process.
So now everything looks like new except for the unlocked bootloader. I'm still soliciting advice on how to relock the bootloader with no USB port available....

From the time stamps, it looks like I was composing my previous reply at the same time as you were doing yours. I may just have invalidated this option by unrooting my device
Thanks for the feedback

I have the solution: Use TowelRoot (towelroot.com). This is an app that can be downloaded to the device to allow rooting without having to use ADB and a USB cable. Once Towelroot did its job, I installed Supersu again, then installed the bootlocker app that Aerowinder kindly linked and used it to lock the bootloader. Follow up with a quick uninstall of Supersu and the device looked like new: stock rom, stock recovery, locked bootloader. All without ever connecting it with a USB cable to a PC.
Thanks Aerowinder.

I just went back to stock after having CWM Recovery and BeanStalk 4.4.2. I used the recovery to wipe cache/data and flash the UCUCNE5 image ([ROM][4.4.2][Jul-2014] AT&T I317-UCUCNE5/MJ4 *Stock* Odex). I'd like to root the device and install the bootloader so WiFi will work now but I'm running into issues.
I can connect to the phone in MTP mode just fine, but Windows/Odin doesn't detect the phone in download mode. Not only that, but I can't turn the phone off while it's connected to the PC - it just reboots. I can get the phone to power down if it's not connected.
I've installed all of the updated Samsung drivers and Google ADB drivers. Anyone have any ideas?

take the battery out and try going into recovery mode and reflash the rom?
I can't seem to get recovery to work at all. The phone is connected and detected by Windows when powered on. When in download(stock recovery), the PC doesn't detect it. USB debugging is enabled, the computer security permissions are set for the PC.
Without access to recovery, am I able to do anything? Can I use ADB to force-flash the phone without it being in recovery?
Also, a wierd issue I mentioned before - the phone will NOT power down when connected to the PC, it just reboots. In addition, the phone, if powered down, will boot automatically when the USB cable is connected.
You may be looking at a Kies emergency restore if Odin can't see the device. ..
Hopefully Kies does...
But I'm with puffin on this one. ..
Place a clean rooted rom to your external sd card by removing it from the device and using a pc card adapter. ..then put the card with the rom back into the device while it's still powered down. ..
Then boot the device to recovery if possible. ..and fully wipe. ..then flash the new rom from sd....
Once booted...you should be good to move forward. ..g

My USB port no longer works, is there I way I go back to the stock recovery and re-secure boot without a pc? I'm thinking of zip I can load from twrp?
You can use a terminal emulator to flash the stock recovery but to the best of my knowledge you will need a PC to re-lock the bootloader

You should be able to use Flashify or Rom Toolbox Pro to flash a recovery. However again to lock bootloader you will need a computer.
Why can't he use BootUnlocker? https://play.google.com/store/apps/...ocker&pcampaignid=APPU_N1EOVIunO6GejAK_tIGIDg

As others have mentioned you can use Flashify and BootUnlocker. Both apps require root.
Thanks for the info.. I ended up just sending it back after just wiping it, apparently amazon doesn't care if it's rooted or not.
Hi!
I am trying to flash 5.0.2 on my nexus 7, but there are a few problem in between. I had TWRP installed so OTA update was not possible, also my USB port is broken, it just charges, no ADB or fastboot. I tried to flash stock recovery using flashify but I do not know what happened and now it seems that I do not have any recovery, neither stock nor TWRP. Whenever I try to enter into recovery I see a dead android with a red exclamation mark and "no command" written under it.
So now I have a nexus 7 with 5.0, broken USB port and no recovery. Help me to revert it to pure stock so that I could at least get OTA updates.
Best regards.

Look around a bit. Don't you see how many bricked their devices by going with stock OTA? You can get the same functionalities with custom roms. They abound (CM12; 5.0.2-based AOSPs). I'm not sure why you insist on getting stock. If you want 502, try flashifying TWRP again, transfer a rom over Wi-fi, and flash it. Since you say you're on 5.0, I assume you don't have a problem with the bootloader. However, make sure you're on 4.0.4. It's indicated on the bootloader page. Have fun.
Get the USB fixed before your screwed. I went this route. http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=321486121068&alt=web
Hi,
All was good in the SM-T705 world rocking 5.0.2 Rooted Stock.
But one day, decided to take the plonge and update to the 5.1.1 Unnoficial CM12.1 to try things out.
Well, all was good, but kinda lost the 4G connectivity (even after flashing the radio file provided on the thread)
So i decided to try again something, and start from Stock again.
Got myself the latest 5.0.2 image from kies and "odin it away".
Everything ok with the flash, but the device remains on the boot screen ....meaning bootloop.
Never seen a bootloop on a stock flash.
When bootlooping, i can only access download mode/recovery. Nothing else works.
Any hints?
Thanks guys.
Bootloader maybe?

Any hint how to fix this?
Idk ask a prof
Maybe flash the whole frimware via odin again
I advice you to download a stock firmware (or at least a TW based one) from here in the forum, instead of Kies.
You can try also first with a manual EXT4 reformat of System, Data and Cache though Recovery. Do NOT touch other partitions.
Then reinstall with Odin, NO tick on repartition.
It must work
Thank you guys for all your replies.
Thing is, i cant seem to be able to flash twrp. I do it through Odin and goea fine, but when it reboots it is overriding to the stock recovery again (since it can't complete the stock flash boot process)
That would be the desired scenario, since I even have a twrp backup that I'm wishing to restore.
Any other ideas?
You need to boot to twrp immediately after flashing or recovery will be overwritten with stock.
Second, once in recovery wipe data and you should be good to go.

Greetings, all.
Some time ago, I rooted and flashed LineageOS 14.1 to my Note 10.1 2014 (SM-P600). Since then, I've decided to get rid of my tablet, so I decided to flash the stock ROM onto the device. I encrypted and factory reset the device, and then followed the instructions found here to flash the stock ROM. I put the tablet in download mode and opened Odin 3.14. I then connected the tablet to my PC and Odin recognized it (blue square under ID:COM). I added the tar.md5 file in AP, and made sure that Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time were the only boxes checked under Options. I did not make any changes to Pit. After the process completed, a green PASS! box appeared. However, when the tablet boots back up, it requires a pattern to log in. Even if I use the login pattern when using LineageOS, it doesn't work. Plus, the screen doesn't look right (see attached images). Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?
TIA.
download mode image
BTW, see image of the tablet in download mode (I took this photo after trying to flash the stock ROM a couple times). Does this matter?
And is there a way that I can unroot the device once I can get back into the stock ROM?
TIA.

I found that using TWRP to clear everything out first then flash with stock. Stock rom will unroot the tablet. Hope this helps.

Yes flash TWRP first make sure to wipe everything off tablet, then flash stock. Just search TWRP install you should find something on it, use odin flash TWRP reboot to TRWP recovery then wipe everything then flash stock.
