Magnetic charging/data cable - Galaxy Tab S2 Accessories

Just purchased 2 set of these newly released magnet cable, they have them on kickstarter stating they design these, and still on for backing, whiles they are already out on the market sold by a few brands, I only got the cable one's, but they are available as a adapter to connect to your existing supplied cable, they have them for micro USB, type C 3.1 and lightning.
Two plug comes in one package with the cable version, not sure about the adapter one's, but I will also get one or two to try out, the adapter version is from another company and it's a different shape, so they are not compatible with each other.
Update: The connection is reversible for charging, for data transfer, the light must face up position.

I bought this one from eBay UK but looks like most of the sellers are in China even if they say they are in the UK. I HATE when they try and hide like that.
Anyway, got this one
Magnetic Charger

Do you have the double metal end or single, I only have the single which is a lot cheaper, many seller travel to china and make bulk purchase and sell them on ebay, the sell seems Chinese as stated in the ebay page, but states the item is located in the UK, did you receive the package sent from china or UK, but you can place a complaint or even give less rating because they are lying to you about the location.
Either way if the item got to you safely, and as described, that's what matters.
How are you living up to the item, I ordered it from china and got it yesterday at work, but I wasn't at the office yesterday, so only had chance to try it out today, I even got a file and filed a angle off on the plug, as it is very hard to remove if you need to do that (you can see the photo's to see what the results look like).

EDIT: Never mind, My S1 microusb port is angled not flat like on the S2.
I would not mind getting one of these, can you get them from ebay? got a link.
thanks
John.

Even if it is slightly angled, it will still work, I have it on my nokia (flat) and S4 mini (slightly curved) and works very well, charging and data works well.
jthspace has posted a link and I think there are a few selling them on Ebay, you have to choose the first generation or second generation.
first generation normal USB end plastic/magnet end metal, just white light power indicator.
second generation normal USB metal/magnetic end metal, white light power indicator/red fast charge/green slow charge.
I have the first generation which is enough for me.
I will soon buy the adapter only with microUSB and USB type C.

Only ordered today - says deliver from UK but Chinese registered seller - problems arise when you have to try and send something back and they want you to send it to China and pay postage - which is more often and not more than the item is worth, so raise a complaint on eBay and wait . . . too much hassle. I prefer only to deal with sellers with UK address you can send back to. Also, in theory, anything advertised on eBay UK is covered by our (UK) Distance Selling Regulations - but foreign sellers ignore the law. A case of Buyer-Beware, unfortunately.
The one I have ordered should come with two adapters and is a Version 2 - white/red/green LED according to the advert. Let's wait and see. I hope to be pleasantly surprised I will update when it arrives (next week, I hope).
Jeff

checking the link, the seller is Chinese and he is located in Cardiff, so I don't really see it against the law, or breaking Ebay rules, I'm Chinese and born in UK, living in Hong Kong, and I have a Ebay US, UK and HK account, although I did cancel the HK account as they are being a pain in the XXX.

I wasn't suggesting he was breaking the law - I have had very poor experience with this type of seller in the past and will not use if I have a choice - I will often pay more and use a UK/European seller as when things go wrong, it is easier to get it sorted. He has had various i.d.'s which is unsettling:-

So, not exactly as transparent as it seems from the initial listing. Oh, my Chinese name is He Jie which was given to me many years ago in Beijing and one which I honour greatly.

well, see how it goes, I got mine from Taobao and many other stuff, and if there is something wrong, I can't do anything, I just treat it as a loss, that's why I never get expensive stuff from Ebay, Taobao or any auction site.
These cables shouldn't have any problems.

Got these too. I love them

These will be my purchase next month.
A micro USB and a USB Type C version.

These look very cool, I hadn't heard they were available. Has anyone found a case with a big enough cutout for them to be used while in the case. If someone has a moment, would you please provide the dimensions?

I purchased 1 of these magnetic charging cables from Amazon in the US and received it today, works great. I have the Samsung OEM book cover case and it works perfectly with this case since it doesn't cover the bottom where the usb port is located.
If you want, you can search Amazon for magnetic charging cable. In the US, there were 2 Chinese vendors that were listed but the order was filled by Amazon so it arrived in 2 days. I think it cost $18.99.

Thank you. Right after I posted my question, I noticed my own case has the bottom cut out. I just ordered from Amazon.

Mine arrived today. Fitting the USB piece - it pushes in and then you have to give it a firm shove and it clicks into place almost flush with the bottom of the Tab. There is a special tool to remove the fitting if you need to in the future. The magnet is very similar to the way the Macbook charger fits, you can feel the magnet pulling together then it gives a quiet audible click as it mates. It hold well, I was using the tab whilst it was charging and when I gave a firm tug, the lead broke away as it should. This will definitely take some of the wear and tear away from the socket. How often have you tried to put the plug in upside-down in the dark? Apple's any-way-up approach is so good, but politics and infighting has worked against us, the consumers. I have Apple kit as well.
The cable seems to be good quality and is supple, not like some of the cheaper cables that kink and knot all on their own (infested with a curse from the cable gremlin, maybe?). This one uncurles and is straight and flexible - nice. People say the LED is too bright, I have not seen it at night yet, but my kit charges in a different room than I sleep in, so it wont worry me.
The Xcable came with one cable and two USB adapters but the Tab is the only kit I have with the micro USB charge socket (other than a pair of Blueio ear buds but the plug is almost a third of the size of the headphone control box so would look out of place). It would be good to be able to buy spare cables, without the adapters, but I haven't found a source.
Overall, a very worthwhile and useful accessory - one that should be on everyones's list of add-ons, in my opinion.

There are many options available in china, 1 cable 1 plug, 2 extra plugs, same goes with a lightning setup.
Since the seller is from china, you can probably message him for other options.

I just got my order of a cable and two connectors of the brand WSKEN. I have to say that the whole idea is so damn cool and the quality of the packaging and pieces is very good.
Verstuurd vanaf mijn SM-T710 met Tapatalk

Just a warning, once the plugs are plugged in, they are not meant to be removed. Too much remove and insert , the plug will get weak and break, as they are plugged in quite tight.

I assumed that, which is why I have purchased an additional cable and will order yet another once I've determined I like the solution.

Car mount

I've never had an android phone before (or any smart phone) and I am thinking of a captivate.
Are there any good car mount systems? It would be nice to have a built in charger and maybe speakers/mic.
Thank you.
there was a question about this already, no worries. Theres a member on here that might do a custum one for you. However, seeing how the phone hasnt been released yet, there will be tons of car mounts for it once its legally on shelves.
*eating own words* there was a question on docks not car mounts, my bad. *edit*
got a fairly generic response from the leader in custom car mounts, ProClipUSA today regarding the question I posed them about the Captivate and the awkward charging solution they would have to rig up, here's their reply:
Thank you for your interest in our ProClip Holders. At this time we do not have a Holder for your requested device. We do anticipate making one, however due to the large number of new products we are developing, we cannot give a specific date as to when this will be available. You will be notified by e-mail as soon as the Holder has been received at our warehouse and is ready for online ordering.
The Charging might work as with the European version of the Galaxy S Phone:

Yep, I would have to say that's exactly what I'm looking for! They will also offer it without any type of charging solution (picture again is of the international Galaxy S phone):
which will run about $25 if I'm not mistaken (the ones above will run about $75 for the cig plug and $100 for the hard wire, based on past purchases with them), but I had such a hard time trying to wiggle in the power plug EVERY time I inserted my Touch Pro2 to their mount, and that was easily accessed from the bottom - try doing that on the TOP now where it will most likely be in a tough angle mounted up against something in your car...... yeah, I'll just go with the built-in charging solution this time, thanks!
Website to keep an eye on is http://www.proclipusa.com, these pics were sourced from their parent company (or sister? who knows) overseas, http://www.brodit.com/

http://www.samsung.com/us/consumer/...index.idx?pagetype=prd_detail&tab=accessories
if you're a little crafty, I used an old iphone case (a stretchy silicone one) and a tom tom mount to make my own. it'll cost less than 10 bucks like that, but if you buy the body glove it'll look much nicer but also cost 25 bucks more and since it's permanently attached to the mount, it would serve one purpose only.
but that coupled with a micro usb charger and I have a slick mount.
jalopnik ran an article on it which gave me the idea

Damn, that's nice but i really hate those designed for dash mounting.... And for that price without charging capabilities (using the GPS on a long trip would kill a battery fast!), better spend the extra few dollars on the ProClip would be much smarter

The SAMSUNG kit also includes a charger so you can charge your phone while still talking.

Ohh, read it [too] quickly on the phone. How does that work??? Doesn't look like there's any room for the charger in there and they don't say whether it is hard-wired or a cigarette lighter plug.....
That Sammy official one looks pretty good, but I really can't justify $60 for a car dock. I'd be willing to pay $25-30 for a good one, but that's about my limit, even for something with a built in charger.
Is there a reason nobody's looking into universal car mounts?
On Amazon, you can get a decent looking universal car mount for ~$8, and a USB car charger for around $3.
It just squeezes to the size of your phone, with gravity resting it on the bottom side...
Could you live with this as a low tech Home "Dock" solution?

Heres another kinda cool stand. Might work with the Captivate. I think I could make one of these. A little foam and some rubber dip from the hardware store.

Does anyone know anything about the Gomadic car vent holder? I've never heard of the company Gomadic before. Do they make quality products?
The particular mount is called "Auto Vent Holder with Car Charger for the Samsung Captivate - uses Gomadic TipExchange Technology" on Amazon. It's $39.95.

It looks like a cheap-o universal one with the same type of "TipExchange Technology" that Kensington uses for their laptop chargers - meaning, they give you a $0.02 charger and you can switch out the tips on it to make it fit your device, which this thing doesn't do just by inserting the phones as the other ones above do, and like I said before, this doesn't feel like the device IMO to have to fumble around with inserting the charger into the port - as easy and painless as possible is how this dash mount will go for me!
Not trying to sound conceited or superficial...... but I sure as hell won't have that thing clipped on to the interior of my car! Wait and spend ~ $20 more for a much better solution, I would suggest - it will be worth it to do it right the first time and not have the hassle of sending that monstrosity back to Amazon!
Well I will certainly put in a +1 for www.proclipusa.com
I have used their clip for my Fuze, and now all I need to do is replace the device part. You put in your car type and device type and get a great holder, and for these types of phones you can get a swivel mount to put it into landscape or portrait mode.
worth the purchase imo

Thanks for your opinion. What brand do you recommend - what should I be looking out for?
Just wait for ProClip - they said they are coming out with one, as they do for just about every phone invented, and it will fit like a glove, have built in charging options (see my earlier post), and not take up a lot of real estate on the dash by being so damn unsightly.... Once you buy the car mount, as lordmaxx described, all you have to do is buy new device mounts when you get them! Then buy new car mounts when you buy different cars! It is almost too easy....
You can get pretty creative with mounting solutions too. On my Honda, instead of buying the more expensive swivel mount, I bought just the device mount without charging solution and used longer screws and screwed it right to a closed air vent to the right of the steering wheel, then ran a powered USB cable inside the dash. This way, it was ultra low profile and swiveled with the air vent! One unforeseen benefit of doing it this way was that when I use the phone on long trips with the A/C on, the tiny amount that escapes from the back of the air vent keeps the constantly charged phone cool for the entire duration!
Here's a pic of what it looked like with my OLD TyTN II and Zune 80GB - currently have the TP2 mount installed until the Captivate one is released! The cheap-o outside / inside temp gauge didn't work so well, so that was removed. This was my "work truck" for a while as I was the only vinyl graphic installer for the Marines here in Florida, and needed a "mobile office" as you can see! The untouched air vent on the right side shows you what it looked like before I mounted the ProClip on it! Vehicle is a 2004 Acura RSX Type-S A-Spec (DC5 chassis) for reference.
Thanks for the advice. I'll wait for one!

Proclip USA Mounts?

Update:
They are now available for purchase
I had one of these for my Garmin GPS (they are great but a bit pricey).
I checked today to see if they had any Thunderbolt specific cases but there is no Thunderbolt listed. Would the EVO 4G holder fit our phone? Would the phone have to be "naked" sans case you think?
http://www.proclipusa.com/
I have been using the "universal" one for my last 5-6 phones or so. It is fully adjustable for fitting a naked iPhone to a Thunderbolt with a case. The only issue I have with this one is that because of where the charger port is located, you can't charge and dock at the same time (unless you turn it sideways or upside down - sideways isn't bad for GPS though). Now this doesn't bother me because I have the extended battery, but I can see this as an issue for someone who likes to charge and drive.
http://www.proclipusa.com/brodit-de...ble-holder-with-tilt-swivel-511165-18357.aspx
Thanks for the information. Yes, I was hoping to "charge" and drive because, as well all well know, the battery life is horrendous.
Hopefully they come out with a T-Bolt Specific Holder then soon.... I really like their mounting system(s)
The Adjustable EVO Holder might work. Not positive though. You would still have a charging issue with that phone holder. Their support/sales staff is normally pretty quick about replying to emails. I would just ask them about Thunderbolt product plans.
I'm using a ProClip vehicle mount, but I am using another brand device holder. I am using a Bracketron Universal Holder. The sides adjust up and down, so I can still access the charging port and volume keys. The universal holders aren't the prettiest, but it gets the job done. If ProClip releases a holder that works with the TB with a case, I might consider it. It is nice having a holder that fits more than one phone/device though.
Here is a couple pictures of my setup. I just snapped the last two pictures. Didn't realize they were so blurry.

As will I. I have been a consumer of the ProClips USA mounts dating back to my old AT&T Tilt, and most recently my 1st generation Motorola Droid. I had contacted them on the day that I had picked up my TB, and had urged them to concentrate on a mount that would accommodate the extended life battery (as a larger than average number of TB owners will be going with the larger batteries, and HTC's current automotive mount will not work with them).
This is something that I will have ordered on the day that the sku hits their web-site!

If you are all interested, as soon as I get an Email from them saying it's ready to go, I will post on here to keep you all updated?
Glad to see they are making one for our Tbolts!
I have been using ProClip mounts for the past 3+ years and I love them. I could never use the one made for the Fascinate because I used a case on it (so I used the universal mount). My thunderbolt is naked, so I will definitely be picking up the charging mount.
Only one more week!

Just got the Email. They have been released. However, the extended battery clip is on "pre-order" purposes.
Here you go:
Item #511248 - Holder with Tilt Swivel Compatible with original Verizon HTC Extended Battery (Pre-order Only available in the first week of May)
Item #512248 - Holder with Tilt Swivel and Cigarette Lighter Charger Compatible with original Verizon HTC Extended Battery
Item #513248 - Holder with Tilt Swivel and Straight Cable for Fixed Install Compatible with original Verizon HTC Extended Battery.
Item #875214 – Adjustable Holder with Tilt Swivel for use with most cases and skins.
I tried to make it as easy as possible with the linkage and description. I feel like I just coded a webpage with all this HTML markup in the post. LoL
You all are welcome.
Got the email earlier today and ordered the holder with cigarette charger. I've used proclip holders before and they're great.

Car Dock Mode??
I love having phone mounts, one reason I left the Fascinate was disappointment in Samsung selling accessories that had 2.2 required audio ports, and waiting so dang long to release official 2.2.
In my Applications list, I have the app "Car Panel", which launches the standard HTC car dock application. I can launch from here, but have no link to it whatsoever anywhere.
So, theb big question is, does the proclip mount launch Car Panel when inserted? I've heard good things about their products, but this is critical in my decision making.

No, the app won't launch automatically. Are you rooted? You should install Google's Car Home app which is a lot better than HTC's Car Panel app.
The Tilt-Swivel Holder with Cigarette Adapter I ordered came today and I got it installed.
Build quality is great as always, thick sturdy plastic.
It fits the extended battery if you have one, it has cutouts for the bottom mic, camera and flash, and headphone jack.
The cigarette adapter outputs 1A so it has enough power for Navigation.
Nice, mine should be here in a few days, i am going to mount it on my vent, i like it a bit higher so its easier to see when using the navigation.
i have the verizon mount right now but i am pretty sure this one will be much better.
battery discharging when in ProClip powered mount?
I may need some help - I have been a longtime user of ProClip products, but this is my first "hard-wired" mount.
I place my order on the day that it became available, and received it the next day (It's nice to live within 90 miles of their HQ). It was installed within minutes, with power connected directly to my 2002 Nissan Xterra's fusebox. Prior to wiring power, I had my volt meter out, and tested my connection point, which was supplying between 12 and 12.5 volts DC. I did not think to test amperage, as I don't think that there would be varying amp being output from the fusebox (am I wrong?).
Anyway - two days in a row, driving from my home to work with the phone seated in the powered mount -charging indicated in the display. I'm running Navigation, with iHeartRadio streaming a local station. Battery level starts out at 98%, and is at 90% by the time I reach my parking spot some 12-15 miles away. Now, before people tell me that I am running too many applications, let me assure you, that I have also tested with running only Google's navigation app, with nearly identical results. In fact I have driven with no applications running, and my home screen as the only thing showing with the same results.
When in my vehicle, I have BT enabled for my hands-free gateway, as well as wifi (for increased GPS accuracy). There is also the few services running, but none of these have changed much since installing the ProClip mount.
Is there any way of testing amperage coming out of the ProClip voltage regulator module? I'm out of ideas as to what could be causing the Thunderbolt to discharge, or rather the ProClip to not be able to stay ahead of the discharge.
This is unacceptable as I have an upcoming family road trip, on which I will be running GPS and streaming music. I expect my battery will be depleted mid way to the destination.
Any suggestions?

Multi - usb microsd adapter and more

Just a heads up guys for those who are interested,
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B008CT83H8/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i00
Edit: Hasc found a cheaper version, UK http://www.amazon.co.uk/SAMSUNG-GALA...d_sim_sbs_ce_3
US links and prices below
Bought and tested and can confirm it works on my galaxy note10.1, ive tested the usb an sd card, still have to test microsd, will update with a nay or yay on micro sd if i get round to it
Just a note, i originally thought id bought a non functional chinese knock, or incompatiible unit, as nothing happened when i initially tried testing my usb and sd, turns out, i had'nt pushed the adapter all the way in, had to put just a tiny bit of pressure for it to go all the way in, and yes as im writing this, i DO see the sexual implication i may have just made
Edit: Reevaluating my comment, i think i may just have a dirty mind .
Edit 2
Theres been some helpfull posts and links posted on this thread from some of you nice gentlemen, hope you guys dont mind if i copy and paste some of them on the first post for those who might be interested, if you are let me know

I cant atest to how long they'll last, hopefully a while, time will tell, but overall im happy with it, as it gives the tab a few more extra ports and storage options, something all android tablets should have to begin with as far as im concerned,
Pro
It fits its purpose
Con
The adapter disconnects if you fiddle with it, to much
Theres a side button to switch between usb and card mode, which can be tricky bugger, trying not to accidently disconect the thing
Usb doesnt work with my portable harddrive, i think its to do with the power draw, im assuming this can be fixed with a software update on the samsung side of things, as the tf200 was able to, and perhaps samsung or a dev can do the the same in future, if their so inlined, otherwise, youll probably gonna need external power for harddrives, usb sticks work fine, at least the two different makes that ive tried, freecom and bytestor.
My ethernet to usb adapter doesnt work either, whereas it did on my prime, pretty sure thats a software fix too, whether that happens, is anyones guess

As someone who has bought it, i can totally agree with some the negative reviews, on the thing being flimsy, its what i was trying to describe on my above post with "fiddly".
My take on it, if you want a multiport this will do for the price, budget adapter if you will, you just have to be delicate. If you strapped for cash go for it, if you want an adapter that will last the long run, find another, likely more cash
There was one review on there that said that his didnt work at all, which initially i thought the same with mine, until i realised i hadent pushed the adapter all the way in, you gotta put a deceptive amount of pressure, for it to go all the way in,. Just a heads up to those who end up buying and face a similar situation.
It bugs me that all these adapters seem to come in two flavors: one solid piece so you have 2" of a plastic tab sticking out when its plunged in or if its connected to an adapter the cord coming out from it is straight out the back. Why doesn't someone come with a simple low profile connector with the cord routed on the side (no sticking out the back) minimal profile when plunged into the tablet and a short cord going into a slim USB or HDMI or Card reader? Would work perfect while the tablet is in a case and not pose a possible breakage risk like the all-in-one types do.
Rpmbnsf I agree completely.

As you say, the only way i can see myself buying a premium accessory is, if its a prime like keyboard
Keyboard spec
Usb, the more the merrier
Hdmi out
Sd card slot
Battery extender
Keyboard doubles up as a stand
That would be my ultimate accessory, and id be willing to pay a "fair" price for it, but if one should come out that meets a certain criteria (usb, hdmi, keyboard) and cheap, id go for it, if user reviews are positive

I had been using this one: http://http://www.amazon.com/GrayBean-Connection-Compatible-Capacitive-TouchScreen/dp/B0072FJEA8/ref=sr_1_5?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1347172206&sr=1-5&keywords=samsung+galaxy+tab+connection+kit
It'a little bulky but I can connect 3 USB flash drives(Fat32) at the same time and 1 memory card.
The memory card reader can't support 2 different memory cards at the same time but that's not a big thing.
I have working at the same time with no additional power supply a 128GB Lexar memory card, 64GB compact flash drive,
32Gb Microsdhc on a compact usb adapter or a USB transmitter for my Logitec wireless Gamepad.
On the Amazon reviews there is a post about working external hard drives(FAT32) with an additional power supply.

Very nice find :good:
Im tempted to try that one out too. Is the port connector secure, as in, does it come of easily with normal use, or does the tab have to more or less stay stationary while using it?

Port connector good so far, treating it with care, been using it for a week. I don't move around with the connection kit dangling from the tablet,
that may reduce the life of the connector.
Hub usb + charger is useful?
Hi, I will receive my G.Note10.1 tomorow and I'm looking for an usb adapter that would be able to charge the device as well, because I plan to use it long hours at my university and I love to use pendrives.
I've found this one, and as I can't post links yet, here is the name for those curious:
"30Pin to USB 3 Port Hub Charger Kit fr Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1" - it's in Amazon.com and it's not rated yet.
Has anyone tested it yet? Do you think it's safe to use something like this?
Thanks in advance,

Anyone else pre-order the iBOLT xProDock Kit for Samsung?

Hey all,
Having switched from an Evo 3D to the S3 (which i LOVE), I needed to buy a new car dock for the phone to use it in the car. With the 3D I was using Seidio's Car Dock and it was great. It was sturdy, and did everything I needed it to do. I started looking for something similar for the S3 and was initially going to go with the Infuse 4G dock, but, I have a Platinum Brand (Seidio) surface case - so, I needed something that could accommodate the extra bulk. Found the iBolt and liked it, seemed well built so I thought I'd give it a try. 50$ was sort of steep so I was glad to see that their new xProDock was coming out soon (was supposed to be TODAY) and was available for preorder.
Just checked this morning and now it's apparently delayed until the 31st of this month. Anyone else pre-order this or heard anything from iBolt?
I know that it's not uncommon for products to debut/ship later than originally stated - was just wondering if anyone else had any information? I'll be reaching out to iBolt at some point through out the day.
Thankss!:good:

So it is confirmed that the new dock for samsung phones (this dock can accomodate our phones as well as the note and note 2 with its adjustable features) has been pushed back until the end of the month. Bummer.

For some reason, the xProDock is NO LONGER shown in iBOlt website, nor Amazon.
I wonder if they're pulling the product out for "re-design" due to all the new phones introduced in CES?

Update:
Just found this on YouTube, A video of the dock in action by iBolt
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k97vG2Fjvkg
iBolt has stated that the reason for the delay with the Samsung dock is because of the AUX out cable, they are ready to ship the actual units but the aux cables aren't ready.
I wonder if there is a reason behind this

I understand that, but usually the seller will leave the product page on and just state something like "launched in Q2". But iBolt PULLED OUT the product page, even from large online retailer like Amazon, which is intriguing.
I really hope they still sell it though.. I need a car docking station that:
1). Recognize car mode
2). Accept phone in case

I saw the dock was on pre-order in BOTH Android Shop (from Android Central) and Amazon, before uge seller pulled out from Amazon.
I had bad experiences with Android Shop...will never buy from them again.
I Just received a phone call from iBolt today. Apparently they had sent me an email last week apologizing for the delay and offering me a choice of a free gift for the inconvenience.
The woman from iBolt told me that the hold up is the "pigtail." She explained it as the small cable on the unit itself. That is not in yet; and won't be until February. She told me that they are shipping out the rest of the dock today and will send out the cable when it is available.
She gave me a choice of a Miro USB to cigarette lighter adapter that would allow me to start using my dock immediately, or a MHL cable and adapter that would allow me to view video output from my Note 2 to a HDTV. I chose option 2. I already have several USB to cigarette adapters.
I have to say, this company has done right by me. They acknowledge their mistake and try to make it right with the offer. I guess i am used to "customer service" on the other side (my pre-Android days) where a company would blame you for the problems and tell you you are holding it wrong!
All jokes aside, I am very satisfied with this resolution for the delay.

I see that thing is BT 4.1. If it's low latency you're after, look for something that supports BT 5.0. Also if you're looking to use a BT receiver for music or the highest quality sound available right now, look for ones supporting both BT 5.0 and APTX HD.

I saw several options in the thread, but any of them are from amazon. I personally prefer the source - China, where everything from amazon actually is manufactured. Just've got car charger with dual sockets - USB-A and USB-C. It cost me $4.99 at sale, now $6.99:

It's Baseus 30W Dual USB C PD Quick Charge QC 4.0 Car Charger. Nicely packed (perfect as a gift). Checked how it works - perfect for Pixel 3 and Pixelbook. Tested both sockets, no surprises, it USB-С rapid charge, in USB-A just charge. It comes pretty fast - ordered Dec 29, delivered Jan 11. It's not overnight, but you know - time is money. About phone folder I use simple one, without any build-it charger for $1.59 or even $1.19 for weird color:

Pretty strong spring, good grip. Again, similar thing at amazon cost way more. This is why if I see something interesting at amazon, I search similar thing at aliexpress and almost always find exact the same thing at approximately half price. Hope it helps.
Agree with Che. Most things on Amazon are overpriced. There's pro's and con's to buying overseas though.
My biggest concern when going through stores like Aliexpress or Wish is quality and customer service (in case you have questions, received the wrong product, etc.) They either take a week or more to get back to you, or don't get back to you at all.
The other issue is the obvious one. Shipping speed.
Other than those things, I've noticed the reviews on those sites seem completely fake. There's a lot of the same type of comment, someone's verbatim, for certain types of products. As an example, check out the comments for bluetooth receivers on Wish. It's easy to spot if you look for it.
Now even with all these things considered and even if they're all true, it doesn't mean the product isn't worth the price. It also doesn't mean the product isn't a high quality one. But how do you really know what you're getting?

The customer service is actually pretty good. Only twice nobody answered my questions, but they just silently refunded in full as I requested. Mostly they reacted literally in hours. I've never tried Wish, I use only Aliexpress or other sites from Alibaba group (you can see list of them at the bottom of their page).

Yeah, this is the real issue if you need something fast. Usually it is in a month, but in holiday season can be way longer (the worst case was 3 months, but I wasn't in rush). Again, as I mentioned - time is money. I was surprised this season - despite of warning of 60-day delivery, they delivered in less than 20 days (ordered Dec 10 2018, delivered before Christmas - wow!). Now many Aliexpress stores have warehouses in the US, so it can be even several days.

About quality and reviews - just use your common sense, like at ebay. As I mentioned, "if you see something interesting at Amazon" - so use Amazon's reviews to get a real review. The brandname at a gadget can be different, but remember OEM - they print whatever name you'd like, so if items look alike, they usually identical. Don't forget Google search, including image search. Also don't forget basic research of a seller - how long the store is active, how many positive reviews, what sort of negative reviews they have - some customers are just inadequate. Also positive reviews can be faked, negative - less likely. And. of course, you are right - it's easy to spot a fake one in both categories.
About returns - have never returned anything there, so have no idea how it works if it does. If something's wrong, a seller at Aliexpress in my case prefer to refund and leave you with a defective item. Once there was a shipping charge, so I discussed with the seller that issue and politely pointed that is illogical to pay for delivery of an non-working gadget and they agreed, refunding a half of the delivery charge, as I offered (I had two identical gadgets in my order and one was dead).
A little experience of interacting with Chinese stores - they value their names pretty much. They don't like to "lose face", so if you have a problem - contact them first instead of opening a dispute right away. Almost always we reached mutually acceptable solution. In case of Aliexpress, as I know, they have pretty strict policy there - if a seller hit 95% or less of positive feedback, Aliexpress will kick them out. This is why they are attentive, expecting your high (5 stars) feedback in return. It's better to lose some bucks, than whole business. Also keep in mind cultural differences - it's normal for a Chinese to see business relations as friend's relations. So don't hurt their feelings - it pays back. As everywhere.
Hope you are not bored to death by my long note.

I see that thing is BT 4.1. If it's low latency you're after, look for something that supports BT 5.0. Also if you're looking to use a BT receiver for music or the highest quality sound available right now, look for ones supporting both BT 5.0 and APTX HD.

Yeah I end up not getting it as Mazda actually made a retrofit kit available to enable Carplay and Android Auto in the CX9. So I went that route instead and it works really well now.

I don't blame you there. I'd much rather go with something that is built in than an extra box you have to plug into a jack and hide somewhere.
