Greetings everyone,
I bought a verizon G4 yesterday and I was surprised that its battery won't last long as I expected, even with normal usage. It takes 10% for like 15-20 mins. while it was way more better with my beloved stolen G2...
What I am asking you (Verizon G4 useres) is to kindly share your experience with the battery here (preferably with screenshots) to be like a reference for other users ...
Here are screenshots of my device usage :

So you mainly use it as a player more than a phone, is that right?
And what about when you use it like moderate to heavy use?

That would be great, thanks.
It can be returned in those few days if there is over consumption of the battery...
as soon i get off work i test it. i got my 2nd battery on the charger right now so i start useing it at 4pm. as i use my phone i make notes to what i use
please note my phone is rooted and debloated
Im down to 92%on battery i now will do web surfing and playing music for a bit
Ok im down to 83% did some web surfing video watching and music playing. The battery is fine to me here.
Thanks LASERWOLF452 for sharing it, can you take a screenshot for the "screen on" time for a final comaprison. Also my g4 is technically debloated as I disabled all verizon apps through app manager.
Again thanks for your cooperation ?

Ya sure and you are welcome. Also there are tips and tricks to save battery. I work at a facility and there are dead spots. Ware i work at is a dead spot that i get 1 or 2 bars and my data rannges from 1x to 3g. To the best of my knowledge 1x and 3g will burn out your battery cause the connection is slow and the phone is trying to get the best out of the data. 4g 8s fast for the phone and the phone dont stress out as much as it will do on 3g and below. I also manage mt screen brightness. If i be in the biulding all day just for my music i dont need auto brightness unless i be useing my camera. I use it as a 3rd eye as i am ligely blind (20/200). I usealy walk out at the end of the day with 50%. If u are in a dead spots turn off mobile data and you be fine. Also clear you recent apps and do some software cleani g on the phone every week. I also carry an extra battery incase i need it. Hope this helps
Thanks for the info. Funny thing I use it in Yemen on a CDMA network with very poor 3g coverage only. And ineed it consumes less battery % while being offline.
Optimized my phone for battery life over performance. Have not been happier.
I use my phone mainly for e-mails and web browsing.
Yes, I am rooted.

SOT is sitting at: 2 hour 32 minutes. I have the TrendON 3000mah battery as well.
TrendON Battery Link
Finally, I have done root, installed Xposed, debloated my g4 and installed Greenify.
Feeling way better than before in battery consumption and control over a weakened beast by a bunch of useless apps...
I have spent a LOT of time tweaking my G4 to get good battery life and it is still not what I would expect. I have:
Rooted
Installed Xposed
Greenified all user apps
Installed Tasker and created a task that Greenifies all apps as soon as I shut screen
Shut SystemUpdateService from Google Play Services
I am constantly checking BBS to see if anything is keeping my phone awake. It is a never ending fight and I don't want to keep doing it to be honest. I have done way more to save battery with the G4 than any other Android device I've ever owned. I am a disappointed owner to say the least.
@pettigrew95
Greenify doesn't need a tasker to do its job when screen is off + try deep hibernation it could be helpful... + you can cut wake-up activities per apps...
I agree with you G4 is disappointing compared to the G2 but on the other hand G4 offers better display and performance than any other older devices...

Greenify takes several minutes after screen off to hibernate your apps. I have Tasker set up to have Greenify hibernate them 2 seconds after the screen shuts.
I've managed to get almost an hour SOT for each 10% battery. Internet is on, browsing and social networking only...
What I am using is Greenify with Xposed, disabled bloatware with titanium backup and disabled the highest 2 cores and underclocked GPU one step with 3C CPU manager.
Performance did not differ that much and heat under camera has been greatly reduced.
Hope this info. was helpful ?

There's an app called watchdog that I have used in the past to find out what has been braining my battery. It helps you find apps and processes that are using a ton of CPU.
Let's try see if collectively, using this app, we can pinpoint apps or processes that are going haywire.
For this purpose, when you first start the app, you should set it to aggressive. This will alert you when something is using more than 20% CPU at one given time. You can also adjust this to 10% in the options.
I think we have sort of pinpointed it to being a sleep issue, but maybe this can reveal more. Let's get to work!
PS: Real-time CPU will show you instantly what is using CPU on the device. By doing this, however, WatchDog will be at the top of the list since it is working hard to update. Real-Time is cancelled upon closing the app.

I got my GNEX on launch day. Have been using it alot and have gone through many charge cycles. When I go into settings and then battery it looks pretty obvious to me whats killing my battery so quickly. Its the screen.
Ive done a search for battery issues and whats really aggravating me is that there are some reviewers claiming 17 hours of heavy use. Thats just ridiculous. I dont get it. I was hoping the phone would kind of sort itself out after a few days but it doesnt seem to be. With my Eris the key to long battery life between charges was to turn off backround data transfer. I dont see this option in 4.0. I do however keep my Wifi, data, and GPS connections off when not in use. I also turned off animations, and added an all black wallpaper to my screen in hopes it may help a little.
Im in to help figure this out if in fact its not just a power hungry screen.

Those that claim 17 hours of "use" are either GSM users or Verizon users that switched to CMDA instead of LTE. and even then I hardly doubt its heavy use
That doesn't explain why battery life is so low on wifi I have a sprint photon 4g fully loaded, which drains around 5%/ hour while idle but with background apps (ie gmail )
I only have a subset of those apps in my nexus galaxy and it drains closer to 10%/hour while idle.
Both on wifi.
One thing that I've noticed is that the galaxy nexus barely spends any tine in deep sleep. Using CPU spy (available in market - great app btw ) I can see that the nexus has spent only 7% of its time in deep sleep over the past few days - and a majority of the time in 350mhz mode.
My photon was closer to 25-50% (depending on usage )

on mine, i found out that using the large "interactive" twitter widget (the one you can scroll left and right through tweets) absolutely killed my battery and prevented phone from sleeping. the small twitter widget (where it just shows most recent tweet) doesn't have that issue.
I didn't have that issue using the large twitter widget in android 2.x but it definitely prevents my nexus from sleeping. I'll bet other apps/widgets have similar code that prevent phone from sleeping.
the large twitter killed battery on wifi, 3g, or LTE. as soon as i took it off home screen and rebooted, my battery life was solved.
w/ large widget: lost 25% battery in 1 hour
w/small widget: lost 25% battery in 8.5 hours
I've never had any issue with my phone going into deep sleep with any ROM or Kernel. However with any based off 4.0.1 battery drain during deep sleep was pretty bad. Starting with 4.0.2 i'll only lose 4% or so overnight. We'll see about 4.0.3 over the next couple days.
Man, it is a tough situation to accept if you're coming from the Atrix. At the end I was getting between 7 and 9 hours of screen time. Hopefully CM9 will be taking care of a lot of all that. Really though? Doubt it. 4,7" über-amoled screen. It's bound to fry the battery straight through..

Are you talking about when the phone is in standby overnight, or during normal day usage?
My deep sleep time is at 69% in the last 15 hours.

15 hours = from 10:23PM last night to 1:23PM today. I was sleeping from 12:30PM - 7:15PM (phone was charging).
i have a quick question.. dont know if it is off topic... but..
in developer settings it has a option on how many processes to keep... standard limit down to keep only 4... but for some strange reason i always have to reset it to 3 if i turn off my phone... doesnt it not remember these settings?
Mine is only 7% over a 24 hour period. Including charging overnight. Are you on wifi?

May I ask why you suspect a drain, like how long does it last and also what's wrong with the built-in bat-stat?
My biggest recommendation is to avoid DL'n every single app and keep it to a minimum.
Mine last roughly 2days with a screen time of 3-4h without charging (was away a weekend recently and took my chances and left the charger at home, used the camera alot incl. 4k shooting and alot of music videos playing and made all the way home with 1 percent )
Best phone in terms of battery I've come across yet.
on the stock rom and kernel?
Hello, what's your android version and firmware build number? I would like to use it because i'm on 4.4.4 build 14.4.A.0.108 and I'm experiencing fast battery drain.

Changing ROM will not help in most cases if you won't discover what is eating battery.
I am on the same above ROM and kernel and I don't complain.
Term 'fast' is not much precise, either.
BTW:
1.3%/h is pretty reasonable if phone was in use from time to time.
Base rule with BBS is to check batery over night, when it is not used at all.
Under those circumstances you should see 0.1-03%/h and that is completely fine.

i dont think using wifi and auto sync will drain my battery from 60% to 6% in just a second. Anyway, i ordered a replacement battery from witrigs. Hope this fixes my problem. Ive tried factory resets and repair through pc companion. still no improvement. Turning stamina mode improves my battery. It no longer drops 50% in a second, just 10%. Still way too low compared to my excellent battery life with kitkat. Before lollipop, i charge my phone every 2 days with heavy use. Now, i need to charge it twice a day with moderate use.

If so - I'd come back to KK before replacing battery, if for no other reason then to prove LP is guilty.
BTW:
Long ago I decided not to upgrade to LP.
Looks like evey step ahead is in real life step back.
Everything is more complicated, wants more maintenance, yet works worse than old simple tools.

On pace for over 8 hours SOT. This phone is a beast!
I had a much better one two days ago, but I didn't get a screen shot.
I average well over a full work day with more than 7+ hours of SOT.
I don't use a dark theme, but it's not a bright theme either. No power save use ever. I use bluetooth and headphones to listen to music throughout the day. Plenty of web surfing and media related tasks. I don't play games.
I believe I get better battery performance following charging via wireless instead of the Rapid Charger. It's just been my overall experience so far.

There is something different or wrong, mines won't drop to 60% tell well the end of the day.
Rebooted after a few changes and waiting to see how it behaves, might need to factory reset. So far not impressed and over my return period (exchange for another note 5)

Over 2 days lol sot over 3 hours never got this on my previously Note 4 , just imagine if i was a hard user would get sot probably over 6hrs and instead of 2 days , 1 day for having more sot.
Running On Samsung Galaxy Note 5 N920A
This version of the Note has me the most disappointed. I got less than 12 hours of use out of the phone, with it in ultra power saving mode for more that 50% of that time, just texting. I had my Note 4 with me as well, using that to listen to music, watch Netflix, and read on the Nook app, with wi-fi turned on but no cellular, bluetooth, or gps turned on, but I had over 50% battery left when the Note 5 died.
Battery life is great on this thing.

My battery has been good but not great and I think I know why. For some reason my Android System always seems to be whats eating up the most battery so I took a look at the running apps and found the following. Doing a little research before I disable them. The one that stands out to me is the IQ Service Agent.. I hope that's not carrier IQ.. See Screenshot:

AT&T never actually stopped using Carrier IQ. They were just doing a better job hiding it (or getting the phone manufacturer to bury it so deep that it's nearly impossible to remove.)
FML and I can't root my phone and get rid of it.. IT's causing my Android System to go nuts and always consume the most battery... This is disappointing.

AT&T has a 14 day return policy. If you are still within it, why not return the phone and get something else?
Yeah I'm within the 14 day return policy but nothing on the market is better than the Note 5 in terms of overall package. Guess I'll just ride it out. I like the Note 5 a lot and I guess if I can get a full day of use that's good enough.. Plus Marshmallow should fix a lot of issues that plague Lollipop. Here's to hoping we actually see M before the Note 6 is released..

Samsung isn't terrible when it comes to updating. Especially when you consider the amount of work involved in getting TW ported, and the high number of devices they have.
AT&T, on the other hand, might not accept that update from Samsung until 2017 or later.
I'm very serious when I say that if you keep this phone, accept it how it is today. Assume no bug fixes, no updates and no root. This way, you're prepared for one possible outcome and can only be pleasantly surprised.
(Yes, I'm having to do the same math. You can't imagine how hard it is for me to accept a phone with no root... but it's a good device...)

It's amazing how much we actually use our phones in a given day, especially when we watch "videos"! Rate this thread to express how many hours of screen-on time you can get on the LG G5 before depleting the battery.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
I have the H860N (dual sim) on build v10c. Take note I am only using SIM1 as the second slot is used by my 64GB microSD (it's a hybrid slot).
1st test
Usage:
WiFi only
2G Mobile network only
A lot of YouTube watching, some photo shooting, social networking in Facebook/Twitter/Instagram, some casual gaming (One More Dash, Stacks, Piano Tiles 2, etc.) and a lot of browsing as well.

Power saver triggered on 15%
My rating: 4/5 - Need bigger battery module
Can you go into detail?

There is LG's official bootloader unlock program for the unbranded EU H850.once u do that(only for h850) there is TWRP built for it too
This was originally posted by me in the battery life thread:
Bit over a week with the phone.
H850 stock rooted v10c. Xposed v83
Used greenify and amplify;disabled and removed some stock apps, AOD and daydream off.
Let phone top up for 1hr after reaching 100%full charge
Best battery life I've had on a phone with no kernel manipulation yet...
I reached 7hrs SOT with like 5hrs YouTube and 20hrs on battery...but this was the 2nd day and I thought it was a fluke.this last cycle was post worthy these pictures were taken evening of 5/4 after almost 36hrs on battery. I've gamed, browsed, used camera, streamed HD video and been on mobile data for most of it...that's balanced but heavy use.
My only gripe is that Wi-Fi does seem to drain me more than mobile data(no tests yet to back that up) still coming from g3 this is incredible!
Who cares if the s7 gets better battery life this has a smaller battery that does better than other's in the g-series, and it's replaceable(unlike comparable devices) giving the device more longevity.
This battery life reminds me of my g2.

what apps did you disable/remove i struggle to get 3 hours screen on time and this phone is starting to really annoy me thanks in advance
Well, compared to the Galaxy S7 i own, the SOT honestly sucks. I barely get more then 3,5 hours with Medium usage. Removed most of the bloadware, disabled background data usage on most Apps and still i can't see alot improvement.
The most I ever got was 6 hours and 30 mins with 19 percent left. No Wi-Fi with LTE on, Bluetooth off and the screen no more than 35%brightness . I used to have the note 4 att version and only got 4.5 with every single bloat app disable. I have cm brower ,cm launcher no facebook just messanger and Google app running. I'm sure you guys won't believe it but I really get amazing battery life with this phone. I'm at 41 % with 3 hours and 30 mins and 11 hours 20 mins since I lasted plug it. I have the t mobile version and here are the apps I have disable.
Here are some screenshots
I really can't complaint with a mix of Wifi and LTE. It's not as insane as my S7 exynos but it last me through the day and I have the spare battery. I have not charged my phone in a couple of days now. Also standby time is the best I have ever seen on a smartphone.

WTH, the max SOT i manage to get is like 2hrs!
Currently battery at 32% after taking off charge 11 hrs ago.. SOT is 1hr 11m
Android OS is showing as using 19% battery.
I think it's time for a factory reset...
I think that will be my next purchase
3 hrs.

I get barely 3hrs of sot too with always on display.
Sorry wrong thread, post removed.
Some say that its 6 hours, some say its 3. Thats a huge gap and i dont know who to believe, but 3 hours seems more legit considering that battery size.
Yeah i don't know how they're getting 5-6HRs SOT that's just crazy! Considering the Battery Capacity only 2800mah

More than 7 hours is definitely possible.
Hi guys, I'm a happy Nexus 5X owner, except for one thing: battery autonomy.
I had a true hope that Nougat would change my perception, but I got no improvement at all. After that I tried ElementalX kernel running every profile, including the newest GlassFish 1.2 and HawkTail 1.2. I also use Greenify and don't have facebook app installed.
I unplug my phone everyday at 7:30 AM and it can't get past 2:00 PM. My use is *only* web browsing (chrome) and whatsapp. Nothing like youtube, netflix, gaming or listening to music. I get only 2h30 SOT.
I've been using this charger for about 4 months: http://www.gearbest.com/chargers-cables/pp_350509.html
My question is: could my battery have been damaged?
Thanks!
Probably just the usual combination of Usage, Settings and Signal. We could only guess without some screenshots though, there's a battery life thread in General where you can post them and get advice.
The one thing I can suggest to evryeveryoneone is to use Developer Options > Running services and see which of your 3rd party apps are running 24/7 in the background. These are using your phones resources even if you never launch the app.
Nothing special is needed to get good battery life on this device, I typically see 5-6 hours SoT over 24-48 hours with stock 7.0. No root or loss of features.

Most probably your battery is damaged after using cheap charger.

That was my first impression.
How likely is this battery LG Original? http://www.ebay.com/itm/ORIGINAL-LG...963915?hash=item2ef4e2404b:g:nbQAAOSwLnBX6QsX
I'm afraid of overheating because I sleep with the phone charging beside my bed.
Honestly, whats your brightness? Do you use bluetooth? Is NFC turned on? Location? Are you running 2G/3G or LTE? WIFI? Do you have wakelocks? I can make my nexus have 3 hours SoT ober a day also. But I can also make it have 5. Its all usage dude, unless you see a lot of heat, or drops of 5% over 5 mins, id say you battery is fine. Maybe its just the charger that doesnt fill it right? Why do you use that charger?

I use auto-brightness (usually 50%). No bluetooth, no NFC, location battery-saving. I run half time 3G, half time WiFi. I use this cheap charger at work. The original I use at home. My wakelocks from yesterday are the following:

Thats actually normal considering you have auto brightness and half the time on 3g. However, your whatsapp usage is huge. Try running withouth it for a day. And do you really need location? How is your signal strength?

Auto brightness consumes that much power? What's your recommendation?
Signal strength is always strong. I'm turning off location from now on.

Hell yea. If you have it on 50% and use your phone anywhere outside or somwhere where the phone determines that you cant see it clearly, it will crank up the brightness, and that consumes a lot of battery. Try running it on 10-15% manual mode inside, and 20-25% outside or more if you really cant see, but keep the brightness mostly to 25%. The screen consumes a lot and plus 3g, no wonder you have such bad battery life :/ On 10% brightness, you can pull off 4 hours for sure. At least I can
